UT has a nice, solid reputation with steele and i know some UT coaches were out there a couple of weeks ago (also looking at xavier player and some other prospects). the thing with jones is that he wasn't a starter last season because of the depth in the secondary. i'm looking forward to seeing him this season. i'll also keep an eye out for a san angelo central transfer (LB), some of the younger RBs that show promise and the development of the sophomore QB. i take it that jimbo fisher got wind of steele and judson and the pool of talent in some of the SA area schools and has decided to be more engaged down here.

Keep in mind OL recruiting has been much smoother than WR recruiting where UT is sitting in good position with their top targets, including just landing Johnson.

Several of the top-tier WR targets didn't go UT's way for one reason or another, so you're seeing more offers go out at that position and the staff is having to cast a wider net.

It's not necessarily a bad thing if you're working with a smaller group of offers.

Missing out on Wilson really bummed me out. Now Higgins possibly as well. So we just seem to be tossing offers out at WR. Wilson looked really, really good. Like the best good. He made Card look good on some of his throws.

Several of the top-tier WR targets didn't go UT's way for one reason or another, so you're seeing more offers go out at that position and the staff is having to cast a wider net.

I just don't understand the recruitment of David Gbenda, I'm sure he is an amazing LB, but the dude is only 5'11. I remember back in the day watching Dennis Kennedy from Judson and he was also about that tall and was a total beast, but Kennedy was an OLB, not inside. I just don't see how this guy will be effective inside. He is going to have a hard tie just finding the ball. To be honest, if he picks aggsy over Texas, I would not be one bit upset, I just don't see how he is going to be more than just a special teams player on the next level.

I know lots of us like to hate on Tim Beck, but damn this guy knows how to recruit, have we lost a single QB recruit to another school. It seems that once he zeros in on a QB we can just call him ours. He is like the anti-Oscar Giles. Great recruiter, bad coach, where Oscar is Great coach, shitty recruiter.

With the USC game, and all the success Texas is having recruiting California, I am starting to question my negative feelings on joining the Pac 12.

On the one had travel and time zone differences are going to be a bitch, but if we can successfully recruit California and get top Cali kids, plus going to cities like Seattle, Phoenix, LA, Boulder, SLC, and the Bay area makes joining real appealing.

I'm glad I don't have to make this decision.
