Ehlinger is the leader. But my gosh, if he does not have Humphrey and Collin Johnson.... they take about everything out of the air. It’s nice to be able to throw it in the vicinity. That being said, the dude is doing about all I can wish for being a fullback/Qb. It’s not like his physical attributes and accuracy have just suddenly changed. He is a good tough leader who is following coaches orders with the TO problem. Very timely runs with good vision when headed straight forward and will punish people.. Heisman??? Yikes!

I love the kid for wanting to be Phil Simms as a 2 yo. All about UT. This is what is really special.

Last night against NB, he was held on one rush, no call, but still made it to the QB ad swallowed him up with great force and violence, causing a fumble. It was a glorious play. He will be missed in Converse.

There is no Run option for Shane. Don’t even attempt to roll him out with a pitch back. Just run the old student body right or left sweep and leave him behind. Put him under center if you must with a quick handoff. Don’t even pretend he is an option on the run. I wanted Shane to get to play. But not this way.

Shane with a little more game experience would be hitting those receivers pretty well, I like him as a passer. But I truly think Shane would be much better under center in a pro style offense, I'm not sure how good his drop back foot work is obviously, but I could easily see him making a living on Sundays. I hope he goes to a program that runs a pro style offense. I think he would do well up in Michigan. What I saw yesterday was a very rusty QB with no timing, but I also saw a very quick release and good crisp passes. No doubt the offense that Herman is trying to run is more suited for a mobile QB, and Shane is not built to be that QB, but when it comes to passing, Shane actually is the better passer.

But now I understand why Tom picked Sam over Shane. It was like dating two very hot women, neither is a wrong choice, but you pick the one that is more right for you. It would not surprise me if Shane ends up with a pro career and Sam doesn't. Shane game better translates to the NFL than Sam's does.

I completely agree with this. The bye week is coming at a fantastic time...or Sam getting injured now was kind of lucky. Timing wise, not lucky that Sam got injured but the fact they would have two weeks to get Shane or Cam mentally prepared. Hopefully it doesnt come to that and Sam is given a green light.

OrangeBloods reporting he has a Grade 1 shoulder sprain and minimal damage.

A couple quick thoughts from the game:

- As said before a win is a win, especially when your starting QB goes down early.

- Shane did just fine and is a very serviceable QB, we should be lucky to have him.

- Sam is more important to this offense than i gave him credit for, especially in the run game. As soon as he left Baylor loaded the box and dared us to pass.

- Collin is a beast.

- Defense won this game for us. Can Orlando get another raise??

- We looked gassed yesterday on D. The bye week couldn't have come at any better time.

- OK State is not a good football Team.

The difference between Mack and Tom Herman seems to be that Tom has a standard of player he is unwilling to waiver from, if he can't get it in Texas he will go abroad. Mack seemed to settle for lesser talented guys as long as they loved Texas. It was a big part of his downfall.

Texas' staff is very conservative when it comes to recruiting both lines. I like this approach.... It helps identify late bloomers and i also think helps increase the hit rate on a players potential. You want 5 stars, but in most instances it's surprising to me how many 3 stars actually pan out (Cosmi and Williams) at the hardest position to recruit in all of collage football.

But based on his play so far it’s been highly variable. In 1 v 1 situations he has come out on the losing end more than a couple of times. Physically he looks really strong. But he has lost the ball in the air a number of times. Luckily some were dropped by the opposition. Some were not.

I wonder how many CBs are ahead of him at 15 overall. If he is top 3 this year, it’s not a good year for NFL corners. So far anyway.
