“I have to visit (Texas) for sure,” Heimuli said. “My family and I, and my coaches, are setting up a visit. I’m trying to set up a visit before the school year starts. I visited TCU already. Now I’m questioning myself about UT. I love the program. It’s a great program, great academics, I feel like I could fit in there perfectly. They already have De’Gabriel (Floyd), so adding to that would be some fire.”

“I was talking to one of their coaches, Jake Langi, for three or four months. He informed me wanted to recruit me, stuck with the process and stuck with me. I stuck with him as well,” Heimuli said. “He’s a great guy, he’s family really. That’s how I was on Texas’ radar.”

“He for sure has informed me on that. Getting a lot of Polynesians on one school would be a great deal. I think what he’s doing over there is great,” Heimuli said. “Other teams are starting to do that too. I feel we can make each team better as a family.”

“I know it’s huge school. They have a lot of kids, I’m not sure the number, but a lot of kids. They have a great business program. I’m into that - business, finance and marketing,” Heimuli said. “They’re really strong in that department. The football team is praised over there. That’s all I know as of right now. But it’s a great school all around, a great program. In the past, they’ve always been up there.”

“I’m looking for a place that will best benefit me and my family. Education wise, program wise, how it can help me after college. Location doesn’t matter,” he said. “I can go to the West Coast, East Coast, north, south, it doesn’t matter.”

Reading about all the increases in squat is nothing short of beautiful. There is no lift that does more for football ability than the squat. It is all about power in the hips, it gives a QB more zip on the ball, it gives blockers more drive, it gives defensive guys the ability to stand your ground, it makes running backs harder to bring down and for DBs and LBs its going to increase their ability to deliver a stronger hit on bigger guys and not get run over.

I just have to say, now we have a real football team. I think the days are over of Texas getting linemen who tend to under-achieve, now we are going to make them reach their potential. Looking forward to seeing what we got after 4 years of being in this strength program. As far as I'm concerned, YM needs a raise.

More on LB David Gbenda...Inside Texas is reporting he won't visit anywhere this weekend, but there's a good chance he gets to Austin early next week before the new dead period begins.

It sounds like Texas is willing to take his commitment.

I'd focus on three.

Dang... really thought that Hudson Card would be in that list. I still think that he should be, guess that they need film of him as a QB. From what I heard, he should still be a top 100 player as an athlete.

No, this is what happens when a new staff comes in and no one knows anything about them. Here is what I know about the national championship staff.

Over the last 2 seasons they were a .500 staff in the ACC, They are Herman's bitch, and best of all they are never going to live up to the hype they are trying to bring.

This season they will be 8-4, next they will be worse.

What they won't be is champions of anything, not so long as they are in the SEC. Jimbo fisher is Gene Chizik 2.0, he rode the coat tails of a great QB and will spend the reset of his career floundering around trying to repeat it, well that and all of the ags money.

Evans might be going to A&M but he won't be staying there, I can guarantee Fishers offense has nothing to offer a guy like him who wants to be featured, I'm much more worried about Bama and LSU than A&M.

So I have never heard of Tillman, so I took some time and watched his highlight film.

1. He plays with patience when trying to find the football, once he finds it he does a great job of closing on the football.
2. He is a very heads up player
3. He does a great job of taking on blocks.
4. He is well coached and knows how to read a play
5. He is a great athlete

He isn't a freakish athlete like Malik Jefferson but he has great instincts and knows how to play the position very well.

Also, all the film on him is of his soph year, I think once there is some junior film and even senior film he will move up to a top 300 player and a 4'star.

He’s ranked in the ESPN 300 and is already a 4 Star according to their rankings. He comes in at 245th overall in the country.

I should have qualified that by saying in the 247 system, I think he is a 3'star and ranked around 800 according to them.

You know I have to admit, the A&M defensive back class is almost as good as the Texas DB class of last year, and that is saying a lot, I didn't think anyone could get close to that class. If they can keep it together they will have a heck of a back 4 in 2 or 3 years. Still we aren't doing bad either, coming off of a class as historic as the one we had last year, to get the quality we have says a lot about our coaches.

You know for all the talk about how good the A&M class is, they only have 1 5'star guy committed and 11 4'star committed. 4 of which are part of their DB class. For having 23 commitments that isn't a lot of high end quality guys. I predict they will be passed by Oklahoma, Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia, and maybe three other schools. It's still a great class and easily going to be a top 10 but it isn't going to be top 3 or top 5. I'm not even sure it will be better than our class.

One other thing of note

Texas currently has 14 commitments 7 are from Texas and 7 are from out of state. Never in my life have I seen that, and I've been following Texas recruiting since about 1983. I actually think when it's all said and done, this class might have more out of state guys than instate.

I said earlier in the cycle that Texas' class from last year is going to undoubtedly be a factor this year and we are seeing this. Aggy DB class is good, but putting it on the level of Texas' class last year- Not so much. Richardson and Carter(even with his issues) are really the only 2 I see on the same level of last years DB's we signed. But hell, I'm just doing this for fun, so I better put an IMO behind all of this.
Also, Aggy didn’t sign anyone worth a crap last cycle. It’s only natural that they were going to load up this DB class and that Texas was going to have a “down” year in the DB class.

Imagine that both schools sign their current class, now, put the 2018 and 2019 DB classes next to each other. Texas has a stronger class by a mile. That’s how I see recruiting anyway.

We May not vie for exactly the same kids as Aggie but the Sooners are killing it in quality under Riley. We must change this.

Per The Football Brainiacs, 2020 QB Malik Hornsby is currently trending towards A&M despite choosing to visit Austin on Friday night and calling UT "home."

They mentioned a big reason for that is QB Roschon Johnson being in the class before him.

RB Derrian Brown from Buford, GA is the clear Plan C behind Sanders and Cain, but it's premature to throw the towel in on Cain for several reasons, one being that LSU should struggle this year.

One of national analysts from 24/7, Wiltfong, has put in a USC crystal ball for LB Maninoa Tufono.

Holland from 24/7 had an update late last night that basically says Washington is no longer a factor in Tufono's recruitment, and both the USC and Texas staffs feel confident.

Tufono hasn't informed either staff of his decision yet.
We may just pull this off. Kudos to Jake Langi and his ties to the Polynesian community if we do. Sure would like to start that kind of pipeline. Also liking the emphasis of westward CA/AZ recruiting in addition to Hawaii.
