of course, i've always made the argument that these are the same kids that are likely to change their commitments so that is why i ain't exactly inking leal in as a solid just yet although it looks good for now.

I don't know if there is an answer because the other side of that argument is taking early commitments from Watkins and Tatum, but then you get burned.

Some guys love the non-pressure approach and the relationship-building aspect of it and that's how Herman landed Floyd.

How do you efficiently navigate a landscape in which you've thrown out 100+ offers and every single situation is different, plus factoring in how other schools are recruiting against you?

If we duplicate our losses from last season except we beat Maryland and Tech, then we are at 8 wins on the season. However, i don't think that is going to happen. There is really only one conference game I believe Texas will be coming in as a underdog, and that is Oklahoma. We all know anything can happen in that game, but they are breaking in a new QB, advantage Texas.

Most teams that beat us are breaking in new QBs this year, again advantage Texas. I was only half joking when I said 11-1, it wouldn't surprise me if we did do that.

What I want to see from this coaching staff is cleaning up the play against inferior teams and putting them away with authority. Herman has shown a tendency to crap the bed against teams he is supposed to beat.

I think the Texas keys to victory are to duplicate their defensive effort from last year, clean up the oline play, and better more mature decision making from the QBs. We get that and Texas should be coming in about 10 or 11 wins this season.

i think a 2nd in a row is quite possible. looking forward to the leal matchup against steele's sophomore QB (he didn't become the starter until after the judson game) who shows a lot of promise as a potential star. still, i think judson should be the favorite again this season. always pull for the rockets-except when they play steele. there are a lot of friendships between the two teams as well.

It's because the qb situation is the worst it's ever been for Kliff going even back to his UH coaching days plus with the loss of Cantrell and Coutee, no consistent reliable wide receivers to lean on.

I think it's a coin toss right now between Carter and Duffey.

Duffey has the potential to be an RG3 but his head isn't there yet. Carter is more ready as a play action pocket passer but has limited physical skills. Bowman just arrived so I'd imagine unless he just blows everyone away during the summer that he'll redshirt.

So boiling down. ....if the season started today it'd be Carter. But if Duffey cleans up his game during the summer and I'll wager that he will, then he'll be the starter on day 1.

Brandon Jones becoming a real safety, great news. He took bad angles, tackled poorly, just got beat quite a bit last year.

Graham being to play in the middle is really important. We got some really solid guys on the outside line.

Got lucky LSU let Roach go.

Orlando described perfectly what happens to many football players using Hager as an example. There is no lack of will, it’s a matter of their body being able to go again after too many hard plays. Being able to continue to go really hard late in a game is good conditioning along with genetics of endurance. Some people just can’t perform at a continuous high level no matter what they do. Some gifted athletes (the so called big motors) have natural genetic endurance. Imo it can’t be taught or merely conditioned into. And imo, you find this endurance in guys that often don’t look so muscular. This can only be seen in games as well, you never know. It’s not the guy that can do the most reps with the weights. It’s not the guys who show it in practice. A game with all the excitement and all the situational anxiety really illustrates the talent. There are no Nike camp scores for this ability.

Its just all these fresh defensive lineman are over running our OL.
Some of our guys on the OL are having to play orange and white because we don’t have enough bodies(the OL all in black jerseys because of this) Hager, the Big O, and Roach were just running by people. It’s not useful unless you start playing deep into the Dline. Our Dline on the outside is way too good for the few people who attempt to play OTackle. It’s was a total mismatch and they are not even blitzing.

We really need Calvin Anderson to eat up some of these guys in the fall. Hager is so damn strong he was just pushing people all over. Anderson needs to give Charles O, Hager, and Roach real competition in the fall. We need a real OT to brutalize these guys and get them ready. They are way ahead. Or too good. Or both.
