I'm not going to pretend the OL is going to be all-world or anything like that, but I think both groups (OL and DL) are going to be the best they've been since '05 assuming serious injuries don't take place. Diaz, especially, has so many weapons to work with.

Quotes from 2014 S Brandon Simmons on his UT visit (24/7):
“I liked the campus a lot,” Simmons said. “We talked with Coach (Duane) Akina and I liked him a lot. He’s put a lot of DBs in the NFL, which is a big plus. Obviously, you go to a big school because you want a chance to make it to the NFL.”
“Really, he (Brown) just told us how he runs the program. You could tell he’s really just a relationship building guy. He said they can’t do too much until they build the relationship," he said. "He said he thought I was a really good player, and I will have an offer when the time comes. He said they don’t offer this early, but will next year at junior day."
“Right now, I’m just looking to slow everything down," he said. "I went to a lot of places this summer and had a lot of interest in the spring. I’m really open to everyone because you only get recruited once. I’m really focused on the upcoming season and having another great year.”

THIS...is why Mack & Co. have changed course. No doubt 2014 recruiting class was being "influenced" by SEC.
Horns will make sure negative recruiting not part of equation. This will make it harder for Saban & Miles to use that angle.

Official release on K Anthony Fera's transfer to Texas:
Austin -- Junior kicker Anthony Fera has announced he will transfer to The University of Texas. Fera will join the Longhorns after spending three years at Penn State, including a redshirt season in 2009. He will be eligible to play immediately in the 2012 season and has two years of eligibility remaining.
A native of Cypress, Texas, and graduate of St. Pius X High School in Houston, Fera was named first-team All-Big Ten at punter by ESPN.com and second-team all-conference by the media and coaches as a sophomore in 2011. He was also selected as a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award as the nation's top placekicker, and was a candidate for the Ray Guy Award as the nation's top punter.
Last season, Fera connected on 14-of-17 field goals (82.4 percent) and was 20-of-20 on extra point attempts, scoring a team-high 62 points. He became the first Nittany Lion since Chris Bahr in 1975 to be the starter for field goals, kickoffs and punts during the Eastern Michigan game and maintained those roles for the rest of the 2011 season.
Fera, who was the first player from Penn State to be selected Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week three times in a season, also averaged 42.0 yards on 64 punts, with 18 kicks landing inside the 20. He also delivered 12 punts of 50 or more yards, led by a career-best 69-yard effort late in a close win over Purdue. In addition, he handled 45 of the team's 55 kickoffs, with 10 touchbacks. He ranked third in the Big Ten in field goal percentage (82.4), fourth in punting average (42.0) and fifth in field goals made (1.17 per game).
As a redshirt freshman in 2010, Fera won the punting duties in preseason and was selected a 2010 second-team Freshman All-American by Rivals.com. He punted in 10 games, averaging 41.4 yards on 46 punts, including 13 inside the 20-yard line, 19 fair catches, and nine of 50 or more yards. He missed two games that season following an appendectomy.
Fera redshirted during the 2009 season. In high school, he was selected a 2008 Under Armour All-American and earned first-team all-state honors as a junior and senior. During his senior season, he was 37-of-39 on PAT attempts and 8-of-9 on field goals, with a long of 58 yards, while 55 of his 60 kickoffs went for touchbacks. Fera also averaged 44.1 yards on 36 punts.
Comments from Anthony Fera on transferring to Texas:
"The past few weeks have been extremely difficult as I've wrestled with the decision on my future. It's been tough to endure, not only for me, but for my entire immediate family back in Texas, and the Penn State football family I have grown so fond of over the past three-and-a-half years. It has been hard to separate the two as my family and I have been accepted and treated so wonderfully by everyone in the Penn State community. For that, we are all truly grateful.
"The decision to remain at Penn State has been complicated due to an illness in my family. Shortly before I arrived on campus, the most important person in my life was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis), making it more and more difficult to travel each weekend from Texas to see me play. The Lord works in mysterious ways, and I've been afforded the opportunity to give back to my family and make their lives a little easier by transferring to a university much closer to home, The University of Texas.
"I love Penn State University, my teammates, my coaches - both present and past - along with all of the great fans who have supported me and my teammates over the years. I made a promise to Coach Paterno and my family the day I arrived on campus to obtain a degree from Penn State University, which with the cooperation of the folks at Texas, I plan to fulfill over the next year. I will always proudly say that I am a Penn State alum!
"A new chapter in my life begins next week, and I am very excited to play for such a well-respected coach in Mack Brown, and a Longhorn football program that is traditionally one of the finest in the nation. My family and I had a chance to visit Austin and get to know the coaches and some of the players last weekend. It is a wonderful place and we had a great time. I feel like I can have another extended family in Austin, and I'm really looking forward to being a part of the team and campus community.
"I cherish my time at Penn State, but look forward to challenges ahead and the ability to compete on the playing field and in the classroom at another tremendous institution in The University of Texas. I want to wish Coach (Bill) O'Brien and his entire staff, my fellow teammates, and all of Nittany Nation the very best this upcoming season. I will be giving my all to the Longhorns, but will always be pulling for my friends and Nittany Lions family as well."

The UT staff met recently to discuss recruiting. I think the decision was at the meeting to offer pending juniors.
I don't think we'll see Texas offer sophomores, but it looks like pending junior offers are here to stay. Good move. Texas can see them at the June camps, evaluate and make a decision.
Hopefully satellite camps in DFW, Houston, East Texas and other states are next. There's a work around with satellite camps in other states. OU uses McMurray State to host satellite camps in Texas. UT could do something similar with small schools in Louisiana and Oklahoma.

Great quote from an anonymous high school coach commenting on Texas' change in their recruiting philosophy (24/7):
“They basically said that they were done beating around the bush, they liked our kid and they wanted to make it public,” the coach said. “They decided that it was just time to change the way they do things, and if there are kids that they want, kids that they've evaluated and really like, then they're not going to wait anymore.”

Quotes from 2014 WR Lorenzo Joe on his commitment to Texas (24/7):
“The serious recruiting all started when I attended the camp in June,” said Joe. “After the camp the coaches told me they really don’t like offering early and that they wanted to wait until February to offer me at junior days. But then they told me they really liked what I did out there that day and they wanted to offer me right then, but to keep it on the down low. Originally they didn’t want me to say anything until February, but then Coach (Bo) Davis called me today and said I can make it public.”
“The decision was easy,” Joe told Hookem.com. “Like I’ve said before, Texas has always been my favorite. They’ve always been my school that I’ve rooted for and liked. So to hear them say that they want you to play for them is just incredible. It didn’t take me anytime to take them up on the offer.”
“I’m blessed,” Joe exclaimed. “Being a Longhorn is just such a great honor. You can’t ask for anything else. I’m just so blessed. I wake up every day and thank God for letting me be a Texas Longhorn. I’m so excited and pumped to be a part of such a great team. It feels great to know I’m going to Texas. I just can’t describe the feeling I get thinking about it. It’s awesome.”
“My offer is strictly for wide receiver,” Joe explained. “And that’s exactly where I want to be. I know that’s the position for me. Not quarterback or anywhere else. I may play quarterback the next year or two, but I’ll always be a receiver. That’s my thing.”
“Coach (Darrell) Wyatt told me he really likes me a lot,” said Joe. “He’s seen my film of me playing receiver as a sophomore and really liked what he saw. When I went to the camp he told me he was real impressed and said that he knows I may be playing quarterback in high school, but that at the next level I have the skills to succeed at receiver and that’s where they want me. I plan to do big things there.”

Stud, stud, stud. Roberson is best in state weakside DE in recent years. Akina strikes again. Nobody recruits San Antonio better.
Solomon Thomas is a lock. Strongside end will be covered.
Texas is in an excellent position with Myles Garrett. Most complete in state 2014 DE. He play both either side and get after the quarterback.
I hope Texas slow plays Denton Ryan DE Sekou Clark. I don't think they need 4 DEs in the 2014 class, but Clark might play himself into an offer this fall.
Texas should be very, very selective at DE in 2013. If the coaches like where they sit with Thomas and Garrett, I think they should sign 1 JUCO DE and shut it down.

So, what's left for the '13 class now that we are working the '14?
Well, RSJ is the top prize. We need a DE in this class (just one, preferably a Juco DE), Caleb Benenoch and Andrew Billings are likely future Texas commits, one or two more DB commits are also expected (Marcell Harris? Cole Luke?).
On Catelon
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Houston area product recently told Hookem.com in July that he was down to just two schools, LSU and Texas, but with the Longhorns offering so early, it made the choice easy for him.
This is why we started offering early, no more missing out on players we want.

So, what's left for the '13 class now that we are working the '14?
These are the 2013 guys that we know of:
WR, Devon Allen, Brophy Prep (Phoenix, AZ)
WR, Robbie Rhodes, Forth Worth Southwest
WR, Ricky Seals-Jones, Sealy
OL, Caleb Benenoch, Katy Seven Lakes
OL/DL, Andrew Billings, Waco High
DE/DT, Marcus Hardison, Dodge City CC (Dodge City, KS)
DE, Kewan Alfred, Trinity Valley CC (Athens, TX)
DE, Randy Gregory, Arizona Western JC (Yuma, AZ)
CB, Cole Luke, Hamilton (Chandler, AZ)
S, Vonn Bell, Ridgeland (Rossville, GA)
S, Marcell Harris, Dr. Phillips (Orlando, FL)
ATH, Chevoski Collins, Livingston
It will be a pretty impressive finish to the class if Texas can land Allen, RSJ, Benenoch, Billings, Luke, maybe Harris and a great pass rusher.

I'm really happy they started offering earlier... But I do think tamu is a threat in recruiting now, but I think it was more of a LSU and bama thing. Especially since they are giving commitable offers to 7th graders now! Time will show when the season starts on how many tamu recruits decomit, but it could be a huge problem if tamu has any kind of a good season, say if they beat LSU or Florida.

I like this move quite a bit. Ronald Monroe MIGHT have a higher athletic upside, but Heard is a very well developed passer for a dual threat quarterback.
Swoopes is very raw, and Heard is a hell of an insurance policy. One of these two will succeed. I'm starting to like the QB depth at Texas moving forward.

RSJ will join the fold again. He'll take his visits, he'll see some great games in person, but he'll be a Horn eventually. Texas offers the best academics, and the best football / basketball combination.
I agree I think Texas gets Benenoch and Billings. I think Texas will land Luke. I'm optimistic on Harris. He has had hundreds of chances to commit to Florida, and he hasn't done it yet. Remember Akina was all over Harris early. There's a relationship there. Could come down to playing close to home (Mama Harris and Florda) or the best path to NFL (Papa Harris, Coach Akina and Texas).
I think Texas can definitely use the "pass happy" Big 12 offenses card when recruiting pass rushers and DBs against SEC competitors. It worked with Shiro Davis.
If Texas were to miss on Marcell Harris, I think they will aggressively pursue Chevoski Collins. If that happens, I think they land him.
Billings gives Texas some flexibility. The center battle at Texas could be epic. Billings, Raulerson and Darius James slugging it out. My gut feeling is that Billings remains at center, Raulerson plays guard and James gets a shot at OT.
I like Benenoch's upside. You can't go wrong with a raw, athletic Nigerian American. I think he has a big senior year and shoots up the rankings. Redshirt him and watch him grow into an excellent RT at Texas.

I don’t know if I can hold out that long like Demetrius. I honestly don’t know. Maybe, but I don’t know.”
"We’ve already been talking about it a lot really,” Gresham explained. “We’re going to sit down, talk it over with each other, our families and (All Saints head coach) Coach Beck. All of my family is going to be able to see me. But man, it’s just a blessing to get this offer because this is a really big offer. a.) They can't commit until the UT coaches get back from practice and take their call.

b.) Knox/Gresham are calling several schools to see if anyone will offer Gresham before they commit to UT.

Per 24/7, 2014 blue-chip OT Braden Smith of Olathe, KS should be officially offered by UT soon. If you remember this kid has quite the story. His coach said before the summer started that he wouldn't be participating in any camps, visiting any schools or talking to any college coaches until their high school season was over. He even skipped the Rivals Five-Star Challenge. He has a sister currently attending TCU.

Nothing Knox says should be taken seriously, assuming he did say that. I do think we have the best shot to get RSJ.

Big visit news for the days to come. 2014 DE Solomon Thomas is attempting to set up a trip to UT for Thursday and 2014 S Jamal Adams will be in town with his family this weekend. His mother hasn't had a chance to see campus yet and her seal of approval is thought to be the last step towards an eventual commitment. Don't forget 2014 QB Jerrod Heard is scheduled to be in town with his family as well. The official offers have really lit a fire under some of these kids. That's three Top 100 prospects in Austin one after the other assuming they all make it in.

2014 DE Andrew Williams of McDonough, GA is another top OOS prospect that could be on Texas' radar. He hasn't had much contact with the staff to this point but he says he's always been a fan of UT and would like to make a trip to Austin this season if the opportunity presents itself.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Andrew-Williams-141809
"I followed Brian Orakpo all through his college career. That's what drew me to Texas, that's what got me excited when they had an interest in me," Williams said. "All their D-ends aren't that big when they come there, but when they leave they're monsters. That's always amazed me. And Brian Orakpo is one of the best defensive ends in the NFL right now."
"I think I had an all right season, but I guess the coaches saw my size and my pass rush. This summer, I've been trying to perfect that and get that down. And also the strength I have for my size," Williams said. "I can always improve on my size. I'm taller and my frame is a little longer, so just add more mass. That's what most coaches have said. And as always, speed kills, so you can't be fast enough."
"At this point, I don't have any tops, but I've had a long interest in Texas," Williams said. "I'm hoping to make a visit there this sometime, maybe during the season. I'm really interested."
"There are a lot of things that go into if I like a school - like how they produce. Texas really produces. It's pretty far away, but I've managed to watch every other game since Brian Orakpo was there. He's been one of my inspirations."

I haven't seen anything to suggest Ash is favoring that hamstring. This is from Inside Texas:
On the field, Ash excelled today on the deep ball throwing to the outside shoulder while keeping the receiver in bounds. He received lots of praise from Harsin on those plays as well.
Overall Ash had the majority of snaps as we reported he would yesterday. My source say it was about 70 – 30 with the first teamers.
In terms of specific plays, Ash had a big time throw to Jaxon Shipley in team drills to beat Byndom and the safety (mostly the safety). He also hooked up with John Harris a couple of times in tight windows to beat the first team defense according to our guy. More Harris in a minute, but according to my source, there is no QB battle. When I asked about it my source said, “Ash is the man. Everyone knows it.”

Quotes from 2014 RB/FB Daniel Gresham after his commitment to Texas (24/7):
“I thought about it a lot,” Gresham said of his commitment. “I talked to Demetrius (Knox) about it, talked to (All Saints head coach) Coach (Aaron) Beck and my family about it. I couldn’t see any reason why not to commit, you know? I didn’t see anything wrong with it. I fell in love with Texas, so I figured I better just go ahead and be a Longhorn.”
“I really decided to do it on Monday,” explained Gresham. “I was actually talking to Demetrius and I told him I think we should commit. We talked to a bunch of people about it all and got their advice. We decided it would be better for me to commit and him to wait. So on Monday night I called Coach (Major) Applewhite and told him that I was going to go ahead and commit, but I wanted to announce it tomorrow. He was fine with that, so this morning I called and told him I was ready. Once he heard that he gave the phone to Coach (Mack) Brown and I told him I want to be a Longhorn.”
“Coach Brown was very excited to hear the news,” Gresham told Hookem.com. “He told me he was glad to have me on board with the team and that he was very excited that I committed. He said that they really need me down in Austin and can’t wait until I get there. He went on and on with me for a while, which was really cool.”
“My role will be very important in the offense at Texas because I’ll be lined up everywhere,” Gresham said. “Coach Applewhite told me to watch the running backs this year for sure. He said they’re going to use me in certain packages with another running back. Before I committed I asked if I’ll just be used as a fullback and they told me no. I’ll be a tailback, fullback and lining me up to run a bunch of routes. They really like my soft hands and said I have good feet, so they want me to get involved in the passing game as much as possible.”
“I’m actually about to start working on people now,” said Gresham. “I’m going to get a hold of these different recruits Texas is after and recruit them for Texas. I’m going to tell them being a Longhorn is where it’s at and that’s what they need to do. They need to go ahead and commit.”

2014 RB/FB Daniel Gresham and Fort Worth All Saints coach, Aaron Beck, give the latest on 2014 OL Demetrius Knox (24/7):
“Demetrius decided it wasn’t his time yet,” said the 5-foot-11, 225-pound Gresham. “He wanted to wait because he feels like he can help out the team. By that I mean that he feels like if he’s not committed anywhere, then more schools will come to All Saints to watch him, which will gain exposure for our other teammates. It will get them more recruiting interest as well.”
“I’m committed to Texas and we’re playing together in college,” Gresham told Hookem.com. “People can read into that how they want to. I’m not going to come out and say that Demetrius is going to Texas, because I don’t want to take anything away from his recruitment. I’ll just say that we’re going to the same school and I’m already a Longhorn, so you can figure that one out.”
“I think that a slower recruitment for Demetrius is better,” explained Coach Beck. “For Daniel, Texas is the perfect situation. He’s a fullback mainly and many schools don’t use them anymore. So when you have a great school like Texas knocking on your door, which has great academics and is a great team who uses a fullback, well, then you better answer that door. For Demetrius, everyone needs a tackle. Everyone, no matter who you are. He hasn’t gotten to see all the places like Daniel has, so it’s better for him to take it slow and make sure this is what he wants.”
“His mom wants him to visit other schools,” Beck said. “She wants him to see what everyone has to offer and make sure that it’s the right decision and fit for him. Don’t get me wrong, she loves Texas and the coaches there, but she wants him to be happy. She wants him to go visit, go look, go talk with coaches, ‘kick the tires’ and then make a decision. She knows her son loves Texas, Ohio State, Alabama and those types of schools, so she just feels like he needs to slow it down and check things out.”
“These guys are very close,” said Beck. “For many kids, especially with sophomores who have received big offers, this is a whole lot to process. Kids get excited, they say ‘hey lets go to college together’ and have big plans to do it. But the reality of it happening is rare. It rarely lines up. With these two guys, they both have talent to do that. They both have the big time offer(s) to do that. They’ve told me for the last year or two, almost every time we talk about recruiting, that they want to go to the same school. I believe it has a good chance of happening here, even if it might take a while.”

Update on 2014 CB/S Tony Brown after receiving his Texas offer last Thursday (OrangeBloods):
"I was happy. My dad was telling me this is the first time they've ever offered players before their junior year," Brown said. "So it feels good to be part of a little bit of history. Now I want to prove their early offer was the right decision, become the No. 1 player like I feel I can be. I'll give my all this season, prove their offer correct."
"To be honest, I truly did have faith and belief in my dad. He just told me if I stick to the plan, give 110 percent in workouts, get in the weight room, do it on the field and show up in camps it will take care of itself," Brown said. "He said to leave it on the field and it will come out like that, so I had total faith and I believed him. I'm happy all this has happened to me, and I just thank God and try to stay humble."
"That they would go against their traditional ways, go out of their way to offer early, that's a big deal to me," Brown said. "I compare it to this - Texas doesn't change uniforms. If you're going to Texas, they're not changing their uniforms like a lot of other schools do. I almost feel like they changed something big like that, so it definitely goes into consideration."
"They had said ever since I left camp, they didn't want to have me thinking I'm only approved for an offer. He said I was one of the first guys they thought about doing this for and they just wanted to get it out of the way," Brown said. "He just said him and Mack Brown are really excited about giving me the offer early. He said hopefully it affects my decision, and it definitely will affect my decision. It's too early for anything final, but I have a good feel for Texas."
"I'm shutting it (recruiting) down. Next week, two-a-days start, so I'm ready to get in with my teammates, try to get the team to state, which I feel like we can do this year."

Who knew our OL could end up being the best in the Big 12?

He says because UT is Gresham's only offer, they are his #1, but he hopes Ohio State offers him. Clearly tOSU is his childhood favorite and even if he does commit to UT, they are a threat anytime they offer Gresham.

Latest with 2014 five-star OL Cameron Robinson of Monroe, LA (OrangeBloods):
"Since I transferred (high schools) I haven't been able to keep in touch with coach (Stacy) Searels. I heard he's been trying to get in touch with me, but it's been kind of hard because I switched schools," Robinson said. "He told the coaches at West Monroe about it and told them to tell me they have officially offered and that he would be in touch."
"It was fun. I had a lot of fun at that camp (Texas)," Robinson said. "Out of all the camps I've been to, their camp actually had the most competition. That was a real fun camp right there. I enjoyed myself a lot."
"It was cool working with coach Searels. A lot of stuff we did, we did at my old high school," he said. "It wouldn't be hard for me to adjust at all and coach Searels is a lot like my offensive line coach."
"Out of all the campuses I've been to I felt the most at home at those places (Bama, LSU and Texas)," Robinson said. "They're all very good football teams and places I could see myself playing for the next four years."
"It's been a smooth transition. Everything is going good. Everything is cool," Robinson said. "Preparations are going good right now. We're trying to get ready and get better each day so during the season we reach our goals that we have set for ourselves."
"I just try to go out there and play hard every snap and handle my business," Robinson said. "Whatever comes from that will just happen."

Update on WR Devon Allen of Phoenix, AZ (24/7):
“I talk to somebody from Texas about once a week,” said Allen. “Usually I hit them up through Facebook mostly, because it’s the easiest way for me to communicate with them since they can’t call me. Then I usually call them once every two weeks or so as well. I talk to both the football coaches and the track coaches about everything, so I’d say I’m in touch with them quite a bit.”
“One of the things I want to speak with Coach Wyatt about is setting up an official visit to Texas,” Allen told Hookem.com. “That’s something I definitely want to get set up. I don’t really have a set date in mind, because I have to look at my schedule first. I want to see if we’re playing any Thursday night games and, if so, that would be the best weekend to go. I would like to see them play West Virginia or Baylor if I could have my choice. I think those would be fun games to watch, so hopefully one of those will work out. I just don’t have anything planned out at the moment.”
“Obviously wanting to see Texas is a big priority,” explained Allen. “But I also want to see Arkansas, Nebraska, UCLA, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Mainly it’s just the schools that I haven’t seen yet and the ones that are interesting to me.”
“I just got back from my trips to the Midwest and California,” he said. “I really liked what I saw at all the schools.”
“The campuses were all beautiful,” Allen said of his many visits. “Notre Dame especially. The tradition at Michigan and Ohio State were pretty crazy. The fan base at those two were out of this world. Stanford’s ‘Monday Night Ball’ camp I attended was fun, and I got to visit the school again with my dad and sister. As for Cal, it went pretty well, too. I met the new receivers coach and track coaches, along with touring the facilities. All the visits were really cool.”
“I haven’t started cutting down my list yet,” Allen said. “I’ve been really busy lately so I haven’t had a lot of time to worry about recruiting. Plus I want to take some visits, both official and unofficial, to see some more schools before that starts happening. After that, I’ll cut it down some more.”
“I’ve thought about it some,” Allen said of when he would like to end his recruitment. “I’d like to commit before National Signing Day. That’s my goal is to get it over with when I find the right school. I obviously want to take my official visits and see how the schools stack up, but I would like to get it over with. Plus, I’d like to give the coaches my respect by committing so they can focus their efforts on other prospects besides me.”

HornsNation chat on RSJ, does not sound good.
-----------------------------------
Tony (Richmond, CA )
The Horns received some nice 2014 commits, but still have unfinished business in 2013. What are the most pressing needs that still need to be addressed by the Texas staff? And who is most likely to fill those voids?
Carter Strickland (3:10 PM)
Well defensive end is going to be big. Actually all of the defensive line.I'm starting to hear that RSJ is not going to come back to Texas so the coaching staff really needs to work on that. He is a priority.Defensive backs, like Luke, are also something Texas needs to recruit. But 2014 is a good year for DBs.
-----------------------------------
Chris (Houston )
What % would you give Trxas of landing Billings, Luke, Benonch, Harris an RSJ to wrap up te 2013 class
Carter Strickland (3:15 PM)
OK lets go through this one at a time.Benonch: 75Harris 40Luke: 50RSJ: 30Billing: 60
-----------------------------------
Thomas (Austin)
You say RSJ is not coming back to Texas, is that a big time blow to our chances with him?
Carter Strickland (3:16 PM)
I am just hearing things that make me believe he might be interested in another program over Texas if everything works out at that program. Now Texas still has a chance but I put them at a disadvantage right now.
-----------------------------------
Tim (San Antonio)
I have to say, you saying Texas has only a 30% chance of landing RSJ almost made me vomit on my desk. After he commits to LSU, any chance UT tries to poach Samples from OSU?
Carter Strickland (3:34 PM)
Samples is pretty much done. Texas told him they were off him.I will say that LSU is the leader on RSJ. But TAMU has a lot to offer. Now don;t get too upset. Nobody thought Texas could pull of Shiro Davis and they made some moves to make it happen. But I'm not sure if the right moves can be made in the case of RSJ.

I never trust what UT has to say about injuries, but here's the word on Fera:
"Longhorn junior kicker/punter Anthony Fera came into preseason camp with a groin strain that he recently aggravated, Texas' Head Athletic Trainer for Football Kenny Boyd confirmed on Friday. The Longhorns athletic training staff is holding him out of workouts while they continue to evaluate the injury and allow him to fully recover. There is no timetable on his return, and Boyd said Fera will gradually progress back into action when he is cleared to return."

Quotes from 2014 WR KD Cannon on his Texas offer (24/7):
“It was great when I found out I had an offer from them officially,” said Cannon, who got in touch with receivers coach Darrell Wyatt last week. “I know Texas doesn't offer too many people, so it felt really good to know that a good program like that wants you.”
“I saw that it's a great program (while at the Texas summer camp),” Cannon said. “They have a lot of tradition and everything there is great. You could see the people were real enthusiastic about the football team and the coaching staff was real nice.”
“I like his (Tyrone Swoopes) ability to create plays,” Cannon said. “As a receiver it's a good feeling knowing your quarterback can make things happen when there's nothing there.”
“My dad really likes Coach Wyatt a lot,” Cannon said. “He likes that he was straight up with me. When I went to the camp he told me what I did good, but also told me what I needed to work on. My dad liked that he was honest and wasn't just trying to tell us what we wanted to hear.”

The last dane to get a Div-I scholarship was NFL all-time leading scorer Morten Andersen, when he signed with Michigan State in the late 70's.
This probably isn't important news, but as a danish football fan I cannot stop smilling about this. Great news for danish football. Even though both teams in the "European Super Bowl" was danish, this tops it.
Just thought I would share.

“He's in phenomenal shape right now,” the source said. “He worked out twice a day all summer. He went to Texas for a practice recently and Searels and Bennie (Wylie) were blown away at how much muscle mass he's added. In his arms, shoulders and chest he looks like a full-grown man.”

Quotes from CB Cole Luke on where he stands with UT (24/7):
“I try to talk to them all the time,” he said of the Texas coaches. “I would say that I talk to Coach (Duane) Akina probably every other day or two actually. We talk about a lot of things. When it comes to football though, we discuss facts about the school, how the depth chart is looking and talk about the academic side of things.”
“Coach Brown is the other coach I talk to,” said Luke. “We talk every now and then, but not as often as me and Coach Akina. We basically talk about simple stuff. Not really anything generic on why I should come to Texas, but he does lay out the reasons for me. We discuss stuff that’s really supposed to be held between the two of us.”
“I’m coming down to Austin for the West Virginia game,” Luke told Hookem.com. “It will be my first official visit and is the only one I’ve set right now. To me, the West Virginia game seems like it’s going to be a good one. I also picked it because it’s early on in the season.”
“It’s not going to go to National Signing Day or anything like that,” said Luke. “My plan is to probably end it before the end of my season. I want to see Texas and I’d like to see Oklahoma and Notre Dame for sure too.”
“Right now I’m to the point where I’ve narrowed it down,” explained Luke. “I have a top four now that consists of Texas, USC, Oklahoma and Notre Dame. Those are in no specific order though.”

Thoughts from 2014 S Jamal Adams after his weekend visit to campus (24/7):
“The day went well,” he explained. “I got there that morning around nine and I had the chance to see a little bit of the practice they were having. I talked to Coach (Mack) Brown and Coach (Duane) Akina quite a bit. I also got to talk to and meet some of the players too. The whole visit went well.”
“They were really fast,” Adams said. “It’s a lot different than what you expect going in. There’s a very fast, high, up-tempo feel to everything. Everyone there is in shape too. Top notch athletes who were aggressive, intense and just getting after it out there. I was impressed with it.”
“I think they’re going to be the number one secondary in college football,” Adams told Hookem.com. “I think Quandre Diggs, Kenny Vaccaro, Carrington Byndom and the rest of them practice hard and work hard every single play. It’s going to be fun watching them and I know they’re going to be great this year. It really speaks a lot of them, the team and Coach Akina.”
“They want you to win and compete, but they also want you to have fun doing it. I like that,” said Adams. “They have fun at practice, but put in a lot of hard work too. It just gives it a real down to earth feeling and makes the coaches seem down to earth. It’s a good feeling.”
