I have already explained why, i.e. the spike in deaths from all causes being twice as large as confirmed Covid deaths, and the fact that Texas deliberately doesn't count probable deaths as the cause.
Double Texas official count, you get double the infection rate.
Double Texas' rate on that list, and we jump to #5.
Explain the spike as anything other than COVID, stupid mother fucker. "it isn't COVID. Because, reasons" :jack

Your conspiracy theory -- your burden of proof
You say the spike in all cause deaths is not-COVID.
It must therefore be some other cause.
What is your theory, stupid mother fucker?

Your conspiracy theory -- your burden of proof
Spike in all cause deaths directly mirrors spikes in confirmed cases of COVID, known to be much more deadly than the flu, despite what your lying sack of shit party politicians tell your gullible ass.
Only confirmed cases in Texas are reported in official count, meaning even if there is good reason to think it was COVID, it doesn't get counted.
THEREFORE
At least some part of the spike in all cause deaths MUST also be COVID. Given the spike mirrors the caseload and CONFIRMED deaths, it is reasonable to conclude most of the remainder, if not all, is COVID.
QED, stupid motherfucker.
This is more evidence than you can provide for your non-existent theory, stupid motherfucker.

It is mid-fucking-march. Wide spread testing should have been available a month ago.
You are exactly right, it is spreading undetected. They are not identifying the people who are asymptomatic or really mild cases, which lets it spread faster.

Ramp to 225 deaths/day by end July, continuing to escalate to a peak of around 450/day by latter part of August, plateauing there for who knows how long, at least several weeks. ~10k Texans dead by end-August.
Didn't quite get to that peak in the "official" tally, but hit harder than that if you factor in the likely excess. 500/day or so for few weeks, peaking late July. Down to about 100 or so official, 200 probable now for a plateau.
As of now, the official 10k mark was passed 8-1.
End of August was 14.5K official, 16.5k as of today.
Given that the excess deaths means that is roughly double that. 30k or so so far.
Your call panned out pretty well, if anything it was a bit worse than you thought it would be.

Texas is 18th on that list. We will never catch blue states that put covid patients in nursing homes.
Texas' is nipping up on Louisiana. Approaching #4. 59*2 = 118 per 110k
Louisiana at 122.
We have passed into 5th place.
Double Florida's dishonest count as well, they are creeping up on NY. 72*2 =144, NY =171
Looks like DeSantis will end up killing more of his people per capita than Cuomo did. You will have to find a new talking point.

We do not currently recommend face masks in public settings since the scientific evidence around the effectiveness of face masks in combatting the spread of infection is unclear. However, there may be situations where face masks can be useful despite the uncertain state of knowledge about the effects.
Face masks must always be seen as complementary to other recommendations: stay at home when you have symptoms, wash your hands regularly and keep at a distance from others.

People not wanting to get infected and possibly end up in a hospital has nothing to do with fear, has to do with a plethora of other reasons, like not being sick, not losing work time, not having to worry family, etc.

I think a certain amount of fear was warranted in the early months of the pandemic. Doctors and scientists have a much better understanding of the disease now and how to treat patients. Its also known now that a substantial fraction of the population has pre-existing cross immunity from exposure to similar viruses. Lock downs hurt the poor disproportionately.

That's actually not proven yet, it's a running theory, but there hasn't been studies large enough to corroborate. Same with people getting the virus twice.
We all hope things are rosier, tbh. We also hope the theory that the virus weakens as it replicates also holds.
It's just simply irresponsible to make general decisions affecting millions of people based on early data like that. That's why we apply certain amount of rigor in approving medical treatments of all sorts.

While this is true and I obviously agree, it's not exclusive to COVID. The seasonal flu kills plenty, and the numbers game we play with our own susceptibility doesn't take into account how we might infect others.

As awful as fold is, I know he's just a sad old man at the end of his life with nothing better to do than troll. He's also a bunker bitch, so I know he's more scared than anything.
Derp on the other hand has been staying up morning, noon, and night for years stalking the guys who made fun of him about Jimmer fucking Fredette years ago. He has gone full retard, racist, and any other pejorative you want to use. His singular purpose in life is now to live on ST chasing Reck, Blake, and Chump around trying to get one "killshot" in. It's so fucking sad and pathetic. I'd call for his banning to make this forum a little more readable, but he might actually commit suicide if he loses this place.

While this is true and I obviously agree, it's not exclusive to COVID. The seasonal flu kills plenty, and the numbers game we play with our own susceptibility doesn't take into account how we might infect others.
I don't disagree with this, but even if COVID is the vehicle to build consciousness about small steps we can take to mitigate these circumstances, why would anybody in their right mind would object?

They would object because we can mitigate many things if we are willing to sacrifice creature comforts and standard of living. We aren't. We are first and foremost a nation of excess, and we feel entitled to enjoy what we think we've fought to achieve. Just as we will not give up our guns to feel more secure, we will not adopt cleanroom level protocol in our daily lives to save people we'll never meet.

Don't disagree with this either, but I would point out it's a generational phenomenon. The US did come together to support selfless, worthy causes (like women's suffrage, or civil rights) even if they would never meet any of them.
Plus, I don't think we need cleanroom environments. I do think we need some ingenuity to get better at this, by first and foremost taking it seriously. This pandemic simply put on display how unprepared we were for this. Hopefully some lessons are learned from it.

"...A school counselor at the Houston-based Windmill Lakes campus at the International Leadership of Texas charter school, Tucker talked to her doctor about the risks she and her child would face if she were to contract COVID-19 from students or other employees. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that pregnant people may be at an increased risk of severe COVID-19 illness, or even preterm birth. At her doctor’s recommendation, Tucker turned in a note asking her school if she could work remotely.
School leaders denied that request, saying she would have to return to work in person in September. If not, Tucker would have to use the rest of her paid leave to remain home...."

Northside is huge. Those numbers are not as expected. The HS are not open for students as far as I can tell. They did open smaller schools, elementary and such.
I know the super is NOT a big fan of the red team, at all.
On the other hand both Boerne High Schools are fully open. That is pure Trump country and they are going to get smacked.

Because it's not driven by the cold. It's driven by shit like school and bar re-openings. And just like with the Balous Miller recovery, it took a couple of months before blowing up, since that's how exponential growth works.
