Right. Now hometown visits. This is like one of those stupid Bachelor/Bachelorette shows.
What color rose did the Spurs get?
If you can't make a decision on free agency like this after years of being in the league and playing in all these cities and observing each of their history's, then how are you going to make smart decisions and be top dog on a championship team. San Antonio is accustomed to being a contender every year. Time to pass on this guy. Doesn't have the mental fortitude to be a team leader.
Right. Now hometown visits. This is like one of those stupid Bachelor/Bachelorette shows.
Like I said, expect Ryan Seacrest or Jim Gray to pop out on camera with LMA any minute.

Said it earlier, LMA has had months to figure out his options. He says he wants to win, but clearly that isn't his biggest priority given the teams he is fielding offers from. Unless the Spurs severely undercut the offer to him (meaning more the 1.5 mil per year), the meeting/media circus shows he doesn't fit with the Spurs culture and organization.
For PATFO, I understand the desire to get the best talent available, but at some point you have to cut your losses and take advantage of what is left. Right now its getting to that point.

Uh, maybe this is cia pop telling him to get detailed info from rival teams, eh fuck never mind these teams all suck.
If he cut it to two visits, I'd be fine. Two is respectable, three is fucking playoff.
I'm officially against signing 30 year old LMA. I was only for it b/c I expected him to have a player option for two years, so we could use him for the next two years, and then let him walk. But I don't think he is that good and tbh, the drama is nonsense. No need to lose out in free agency waiting on this guy to make some summer trips to get wooed somemore. You know Spurs will lose that game. Pop and crew are not going to beg the guy to come to S.A. They are champions, that is below their dignity.

Last thing they need is to wait around for LaMarcus' soap opera, while all viable back up options sign elsewhere and their stuck with the 2015' version of Jackie Butler.

What color rose did the Spurs get?
Exactly.
Teams operating under the cap and able to take on Phoenix's salary (unless they structure Chandler/Aldridge as TWO sign-and-trades with Dallas & Portland):
Excluding Spurs, Dallas & Portland obviously
Atlanta - No
Boston - No after Amir Johnson signing
Brooklyn - No, nor will they ever
Charlotte - Not totally up to speed, but they only have room left for midlevel type contracts, so not enough to facilitate a tradeCleveland - No
Chicago - No
Cleveland - No
Denver - Not really
Detroit - Yes; Baynes will likely sign under MLE
Golden State - No
Houston - No, and would have to make deal of its own to add cap space
Indiana - Some space with West opting out, but likely looking to use it on a FA
LA Clippers - None
LA Lakers - Yes, and actually should use it to get some long term assets back instead of burning it on bad free agents
Memphis - No
Miami - No
Milwaukee - No, used it up on Monroe
Minnesota - Surprisingly none, unless they get rid of Garnett or move him to a low cap number. Perhaps could have high-seven figures, but probably not enough to take on assets
New Orleans - Not enough to be dangerous with
New York - Yes, see Lakers
OKC - No
Orlando - Yes, as seen by recent Millsap pursuit
Philadelphia - Yes, even after adding $16 million in trade with Sacramento
Sacramento - Yes, but they would not have done a salary dump just to take on someone else's dump
Toronto - No, after Carroll signing
Utah - Yes
Washington - No
So that really leaves just Detroit, Lakers, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Sacramento, and Utah teams that can take on salary dumps. Detroit, Philadelphia and Utah seem like most likely facilitators, though Utah may look to try to make run at 8th seed this year instead.

Money Looks equal
Spurs- Contender next year - Track record of building around stars without resources
Suns- will probably at best make the playoffs with you signing. Potential to be better through draft trades etc. down the road
Lakers- Potential of getting a good free agent next summer to pair with you- no playoff his year

Spurs dont have the time to be jerked around.
They have a championship to compete for next year.
Last thing they need is to wait around for LaMarcus' soap opera, while all viable back up options sign elsewhere and their stuck with the 2015' version of Jackie Butler.
Nothing can happen until next week. All these deals that have been agreed to an be reneged on. For the last two days the sports world has been fixated on him. It's the best thing for the LMA brand since being drafted. Teams love him for it because they can sell their fanbases 'at least we tried' and he builds rapport with execs across the league. He can even shit on the Lakers because half the fans hate them anyway and it's the truth.
It's kinda amusing to watch.
If he wants to win he'll come here amongst the options he has. That hasn't changed.

This is getting annoying, tbh..Aldridge is a top 20 player in the league, he's not a superstar, these games and indecisiveness are irritating..I understand that it's his last big deal, but it's still pretty make considering he's meeting with shitty teams like the Suns and Lakers..
The front office has put themselves in a hole by trading Splitter, though, they are all-in..getting a slightly above average big like David West doesn't move the needle:lol..
It doesn't, but if the Splitter trade is contingent on Aldridge signing, as disappointing as losing out on him would be, they'll still be in a great spot potentially. Aldridge and West are actually similar offensively, only West is at the point where he'd accept being a role player, so the fit would probably be seamless.
Even if the Splitter trade isn't based on that contingency, it seems doubtful, but if they could find a way to get Koufos too, they'd still be in a great spot. O'Quinn, would be fine as well.
So Phil flew all the way out there for nothing?
That's not the way Jeannie looks at it.

Touches & minutes - STATS is what the problem is. In Phoenix he gets to be the man, in SA, he is NOT - you got Timmy, KL (and if he regains form), Parker; if Manu comes back.....He's a role player on a team of role players in SA; IMO.
1) LMA would get all the blame as well in Phoenix.
2) LMA's stock won't drop from 2 years(I'd expect LMA to do. 3 year player option deal just in case things turn sour) with Spurs....teams know Spurs play team ball, so if his stats go down, don't expect his long term value to drop.

It's the classic "hot girl at the party" scenario. She shows interest in 4-5 guys and BAM, hangs onto you for the majority of the night. But as she drinks more and more and starts asking you to hold her purse and get her drinks, you start to focus on 6-8/10 girls who aren't shallow and shitfaced. Testicular fortitude and intelligence in the sense of having an actual understanding of what wins in this league right now, in an era where the teams that win are the teams that play the most position-lessly (sp?). Among the great strengths of the last 3 champions has been that ability to match up or down and to use guys in a variety of ways all over the floor. .

if any team can claim the ability to be good long term it's the Spurs. second nothing stops him from signing a 3 year deal, in fact it's what I expected from the start.

Spurs should just go after LeBron... screw it. He hasn't signed with Cleveland yet.

Damn now Phoenix actually becomes a legit possibility. I can't believe the Suns got more for worthless shit like Marcus Morris, Danny Granger, and Reggie Bullock than the Spurs did for a starting center in Splitter.

If that is truly the issue then, yeah, if he doesn't sign we probably shouldn't be that down about it.
If he does sign, he better learn to get over it.
I'm sure Pop said, "Draymond Green played center in the finals. Do you want to play in the finals?"

That's the nice thing about this situation. If LMA doesn't sign, then okay he probably didn't value winning as much as needed or was going to be whiny about playing center or whatever.
Better to find out now about LMA then after he's signed, tbh.

He is going to the lakers i was told, he's intrigue by the chance of lakers landing kd next year and the potential of russell, clarkson and rendle...

There's always Enes Kanter. Even if he plays center, it's not like he'll play much center on defense.

No fucking way man, I'd rather find out later and then have a great trade chip in Aldridge.

Meh..while Aldridge is overrated and I've never been a fan of his game, it's still a no-brainer to take a talent like that on your team, especially considering Parker is probably finished as a high-level scorer..Spurs need weapons, and you don't pass up a top 20 guy..
More importantly, at this point, the alternatives are scarce..

I love that the local media is overblowing Aldridge's interest in their shitty team, and the team is now dumping salary like it means something. This offseason is getting better and better.
that was his point...

"He'll regret this. I didn't even get a chance. I'm a special guy with a lot to offer some lucky girl and I won't stop pursuing my dream of love"
Where's that fat chick commenting on how it's bad form to embarrass a great franchise?
I like what he could bring to the team, but I'm still starting to wish Pop would call his agent and say Fuck Off! If he's this much of a diva before coming here, he's not going to get better once he gets here.

:lol now he's meeting Riley for dinner tonight.
If that's true, he's looking for reasons to convince himself to go to a big market. I guess he had enough time to think about just how much all the endorsements are worth. "Yeh that family shit's important to me. But for that much money I can buy a new family."
