they don't do that anywhere else.

If that's what he wanted, why the circus?
Sun's have a center. Spurs don't. He seems hell bent on not playing center. With Duncan and Diaw, it shouldn't be hard to imagine plenty of center time depending on matchups. Sure spurs are front runners, but if the position really matters, spurs run all types of matchups. Maybe he's worried about that.
Plan B might well involve helping the Suns land LMA, with Morris + Len/Tucker coming back using Splitters TE. I'd be ok with that with everyone else pretty much snapped up.

Didn't know what was realistically out there. Obviously he wanted to explore his options, but if those options are marginally more appealing than his current one why not take the money?

Duncan gets 30 minutes at center. Diaw 10. Sign a minimum big or bonner to play 8. There you go. Lamarcus doesn't have to worry.

Sources bro, SOURCES!!!
The integrity of sports journalism especially during free agent periods is such a joke. You can literally make up fucking anything and back it with "sources" and watch your twitter explode. What a goddamn farce.
Besides Duncan, there isn't anyone. Near 40, he can't be expected to run it all year. That's the only thing I can see being a catch. Feel like spurs move fast on center if LA agrees tho

Yeah, with Baynes, Ayres, and Splitter gone, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion the Spurs will be shopping for a center regardless of what LMA decides.

Another theory, I think that in our meeting with LMA, Duncan talked about how in 2000, Orlando bent over backwards to cater to him, and gave him free gifts and stuff. That's why he dragged it out and recommended to LMA that if he is committed to the Spurs, he should do the same thing and enjoy the experience of being courted. Tbh, I'm wondering what each of the suitors is giving him.
Houston - Probably that hilarious shot chart showing how LMA almost took as many mid range shots last season as the entire Rockets team combined. In the geriatric duo of starting pg's in Terry and Prigs, no need to worry about another Lillard fiasco.
New York - Some "I heart NY" shirts, an opportunity to play center alongside Milicic 2.0 and assist master Melo. Not to mention stars across the board in Galloway, Shved, and I don't know the rest of their roster, but it's New York, so they have to be good, right? Concrete jungles where dreams are made of, there's nothing you can't do, except win.
Toronto - Maple syrup. Chance to play in the East. Canadia. Drake. Maybe lose to Washington in 5 instead of 4 in the first round.
Miami - Chance to team up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and win multiple championships. Not 1, not 2, not 3... Cuban cigars and hookers. Be the first player in NBA history to earn a max contract and come off the bench.
Los Angeles - Swaggy P. Nuff said. Probably a quickie with Jeanie. Doesn't have to play center due to the dynamic duo of Hill and Sacre. Chance to impede Randle's development. Even though reports say he's sold his house in LA, he can always build a new one with Kobe's bricks.
Dallas - Cowboys jerseys. Chance to laugh watching Dirk struggle to play center. Sit out in crunch time, no pressure.
Phoenix - Your only chance to be listed and play as a point guard, furthest position from *gasp* center.
San Antonio - Whataburger #boldchickenstrips

What a colossal waste of time. What is Aldridge thinking or did his camp get a call from the Laker's apologizing for their idiocy and asking for a second meeting just to show they actually have BB IQ? My guess is Aldridge's camp asked Aldridge to meet with LA again just to look good to the media and save all the LA criticism. If it were me, I'd say Fuck yo clowns-you had your chance just like all the other teams, you weren't prepared which tells me you're not prepared for the season or to make any serious run in the near future. Fuck off.
Obviously, Aldridge can't say that-hence the meeting; although, you know damn well, it's not going to make a damn difference. I mean Kobe's a dick and he probably feels disrespected now and is out on the town looking for some whores to take out his frustrations on. LMAO!

I disagree.
I think it's fear of failure.
If you come to the Spurs and it doesn't work out, what can you say?
You can't say it's a clueless organization and they'll never win.
The Spurs are a unique outfit -- if you fail, it's on you.
Why would you go for that when you could go, for example, to Phoenix?
Very good point as well.

The way so many media outlets have been apoplectic today about the inability of LAL and NYK to attract significant players these past 2 off seasons, a conspiratorialist might think that someone has told LMA and his team that they have to give LAL another chance, if only to allow LAL to regain some public credibility.

LMA: Wait a minute, there's a 3rd round?! Holy shit!
Pop: Yes, and after that, you get to go to the Finals to play against a fully store-bought Lebron team that we've handled before.

With Wade signing his $20 million deal, doesn't that knock Miami out of the running? That would put their salary to the $76 million mark and thus, over the cap?
Heat would probably try to work a sign and trade to send Bosh to Portland
if he stays in rip city after all of this, he will be booed the hell out of in every arena.

NOBODY who participated in the Gasol thread last year can say that it wasn't a shitload of fun, even when we knew there was a fraction of a percent chance that he'd come to Texas.
That Gasol situation was the most fun I have had on SpursTalk since, well, the Aldridge situation. I love it! And we got old school posters (like timvp!) coming out of the woodwork. This is great.

This is ridiculous. I mean Leonard and Green signed without any drama. Now Aldridge wants to play drama queen? I say, move on and sign up David West. Try to figure out how to get a center elsewhere.

I'll adjust (dumb down) for you. Cool?
Hibbert is the most logical. Available for nothing.
but one of the reasons, according to the indianapolis star, that hibbert may be available is because: "Hibbert, a two-time All-Star, struggled mightily in 2014-15, averaging his fewest points per game (10.6) since his rookie season (7.1). Larry Bird and Frank Vogel have stated time and time again the team's desire to play a more up-tempo style -- one that doesn't fit Hibbert's game.", and I'm not sure this would bode well for how he would fit in here. Hell, I'd almost say if the spurs can't sign LMA that they just to the way of small ball and see who they can get to fit into that scheme.

The only player i want is a center who can defend PnR thats healthy. And id rather get someone slightly less skilled than Splitter if it means they are more likely to be healthy. Splitter healthy is perfect, but splitter with splitter health was detrimental to the team.
Im not sold on LMA. He forces Duncan to play C and we have no backup C, and we will probably lose Mills/Belli as well. He guts our bench and makes our C position a question mark.

Or by the Spurs if they get to make one more pitch.
This seems like one of those things Pop doesn't get, like how you don't hack Jordan when you're up by 10 in game six or how playoff seeding matters a whole hell of a lot.

Where the fuck is manu's spanish memoir anyways? Wasn't that shit supposed to be out 2 days ago? Was there ever confirmation he made the trip to LA as rumored?

I am probably in the minority, but honestly I think he is waiting for LMA to decide.

Dose him with some Ambien and have him sleep-talk to Aldridge on the phone.
And record it too! I'm sure the conversation will be awesome!
I remember being pulled off of Hollywood Blvd in my sleep, in my skivvies by my apartment's security personnel and them telling me (after they woke me up, which they said was difficult in itself) I was humming the Mission Impossible theme while I was hiding between parked cars and running by moving cars on Hollywood. My girl at the time almost left me over that and honestly it was the Ambien I had just started taking. I was sleep walking every night, doing weird shit on that stuff.

He's waiting for Messist to choke away Copa America
Was really hoping he would of decided by tonight, seems that won't happen as he is giving the Lakers a second meeting for some unknown reason.

A few years ago, Pop got hammered at the Spurs Xmas Party and did something very embarrassing. I'm not sure what he did, but Bonner got pictures of this act. It's the only reason as to why Bonner is still around.

:lolLots of emo in this thread. Dude is just covering all his bases. If you blame him for that you are probably a f'n hypocrite. Anyone being called by multiple million dollar companies for mils of $ AND having to relocate etc. would be a FOOl not to hear every pitch

He recreated his original Riverboat dance, but stripped while doing it. I was there. It was awful. Manboobs, sweat and shame everywhere.
And the shame was coming from the players. Good times!
Manu still hasn't committed. If we can't get a commitment from him, how will we get one from Aldridge?

Based on the games I've seen in the tournament, it looks like they're trying to fix it so that Chile wins. But yeah, nobody in Argentina gives a fuck about basketball right now. Manu might as well be a hockey player to them right now.

Beyond Blazers, only contender for Aldridge that he's clear about organization, about role for him: Spurs. Everyone else, still questions.

I see. Subtlety is too much for you to comprehend and things have to be literally "phonetic" for you to get.
I'll adjust (dumb down) for you. Cool?
Your inability to punctuate = being subtle? Mmmkay. :lol
BTW, look up phonetic. You didn't use it properly.
If you dumbed down any further, you'd be in a coma.

Sure looking like Lamarcus packed his stuff and ran away from home like a 5-year-old. He just wants to be wanted. Lillard is probably the first one in the organization to make an effort. Everyone else just expected him to be gone.

Economically speaking, going back to Portland doesn't make sense. Sure, he gets the guaranteed 5th year, but with the cap about to explode, that's actually leaving money on the table.
Not to mention that it's easier for him to extract one more big money deal at 34 than at 35...

Cheers. I plan on being here more often this, maybe our last Season Of Duncan. And beyond- I am a huge Kawhi fan and even got my girl into Spurs ball with my enthusiasm for watching Kawhi on both defense and offense.
I honestly feel she has more of an appreciation for WINNING basketball than many posters here because her first exposure to pro bball was watching complete players in Timmy Duncan and Kawhi Leonard.
She's going to be a good paht-nah-in-crime at the bars come next season.

Yeah- she had to endure my constant bitching about the foie gras eater along with that appreciation...
I tried to block that out... fucker.
How would it play out though if returned to Portland? He'd essentially be a poor mans Malone in a league were Stockton was the true star. Everyone would blame him for the FO inability to get more talent and everyone would know he only stayed for the TOSB paychecks. Like Kobe without the rings.
