He had the Whitehouse for 4 years and lost Georgia and both sides of congress, and the election, and was subjected to impeachment trials twice. The GOP would be committing political suicide to keep up with him, and once his face is a reality TV face again and not associated with CiC, he'll be ignored by the GOP. Politicians know diplomacy means saying "good dog" until you can find a big enough stick.
GOP voters still love him, this isn't like when everyone tried to pretend George W Bush didn't exist anymore after the 2008 election. It's his party. I don't know how that can be any more clear after seeing the GOP have his back after trying to lead a coup.

You're conflating his core base of 30 something percent plus the 40 senators who won't bent even though is bad business for them with the entire conservative base.
We now know conservatives will vote for a democrat if they have to.
You can rerun the 2020 election and I bet you he wouldn't even get 2016 numbers again.
He left office holding 36% approval.

Talk is fucking cheap. Mitch voted in favor of the coup.
Take Lil Marco for instance. He went full Trump and he's going to still be primaried by Ivanka....and lose.
Democrats will have a chance against Ivanka. They'd lose to Lil Marco no doubt.

Mitch tried to thread the needle by appeasing the Qtards with his vote and the Rockefeller Republicans with his speech. It worked for the most part the last 4 years but I don’t see trying to play both sides working in 2024. They need the Qtards in order to win, and Trump is the only way they get the Qtards.

Yes a phone call. Shit happens every day in Washington only this past admin has more than it's fair share of rats. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.
Not this level of shit you dumbass.
YOu ask the new elected president of a foreign country to dig up dirt on a political opponent for the presidency.
Seriously, he is going to supply you info on a guy who is now our president from whom exactly? From his intelligence services.
So you basically say, Im gonna make a big pressure offer here buddy, you get info from your intelligence people on my opponent, we will keep up our contribution to your country because I want to be president of this country anyway I can.
This is exactly what the British and the French tried AND was taken into account when we were first becoming and then become independent. This is exactly what we did not want.
Yeah, this is shit happens everyday in Washington. The President asking foreign services to spy on US....
fckn idiot... Keep going knuckle head, arbiter of the middle ground, historian of our diplomacy.
Keep defending this.
"Oh, just a phone call. It turned out he was not guilty because the red team senate said so"

i don’t understand how people think that the r party has somehow not been completely transformed into literally a cult of personality. I think will said it correctly, they need qtards to win elections.
they literally have no ideological foundation other than tax breaks for the rich, and owning the libs.
the ridiculous lip service some of them are trying to pay about moving on from what identifies their entire party is either wishful thinking, or a complete lie to try to avoid having to answer tough questions. But seriously, they are truly a soulless and valueless lot.

I don’t think they realize how strong Trumpism is. Even in like New Hampshire, the Republicans in that state love Trump. Even though the obvious strategy is running either Ayotte or Sununu against Hassan in ‘22, it’s not a guarantee one of them will beat a MAGAtard in a primary, and if the candidate is anyone other than Ayotte or Sununu they’re practically giving a potential senate seat away.

The impeachment last year was retarded, I pretty much ignored it. I’m sure what he did was impeachable but there wasn’t much public outrage about it, conviction was never going to happen, and Adam Schitt + fat tub of shit Jerry Nadler were awful at presenting their case.
I know you disagree but I think Trump’s actions this time around are where the rare bipartisan impeachment should have happened. I will say that I heard yesterday they can invoke 14(3) with a simple majority vote and if that’s the case then I’m not sure why they went forward with impeachment, they should have just skipped to 14(3) if that’s constitutionally allowed.
I don't disagree. He should never be allowed to run for office again and maybe even should be tried criminally. Dems are too incompetent or corrupt to do it right and neither party is that interested in justice vs their political futures.

but you did state "whether or not it's wise to discount the rationality of 70 million voters". The "rationality" here really hinges on whether he was a good president and/or simply better than the alternative. What other rational option goes there if it's not one of those?
Ultimately, I doubt all those 70 million really thought he would not accept the result of fair and transparent elections, tbh.

If he’s popular and doing well, I’d rather Biden run for another term. We need a strong name at the top of the ticket in 2024 with all the senate seats we need to defend that year. Manchin’s seat is probably a goner but Tester and Sherrod could hold on if they’re on a ballot with a strong incumbent.

I think he’ll do just that. The thought of Trump running again must repulse him. The dude is a legit treasure.
As of this date, he might be the only one who can beat Trump’s mob. Can you imagine a dry up uncharacteristic Kamala trying to win? I don’t see it.
I still say she has a decent shot but it’s closer to 50/50.

Yeah if Trump is running again then Biden definitely is too. Unfortunately for Kamala (nothing she did wrong) having a black female at the top of the ticket in ‘Murica is like boxing with one hand tied behind your back. Until the political climate in this country is very different, having a white male at the top of the ticket makes the most political sense.

Trump’s rough week started with closed-door testimony from his former top Russia advisor Fiona Hill, who said Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani ran a shadow foreign policy to politically benefit Trump outside the normal channels of government.
She also passed on some choice criticisms of Rudy from Trump’s former National Security Advisor John Bolton.
Bolton reportedly called Giuliani “a hand grenade who’s going to blow everybody up,” and slammed the pressure tactics on Ukraine as a “drug deal” he wanted no part of.
Yet another Giuliani associate, David Correia, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly helping to orchestrate illegal campaign donations to GOP causes in order to buy political influence — the third of Rudy’s associates to get booked by the feds in two weeks. The two others, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, were arrested the week before, trying to flee the country.
On Thursday, Trump’s own EU Ambassador, Gordon Sondland, joined the pile-on, testifying that Trump ordered top officials to work with Giuliani, in a reversal of Sondland’s earlier refusal to cooperate.

Did you notice how big Vanessa's ass has gotten in the past year? I guess we know her coping mechanism.

Yeah, sittin' on her ass concocting ways to make money off him. If something happened to Girl I'd be catatonic ever more.

New York just bitterly running him thru the shitter. "We'll get him if it's the last thing we do."
He made President though, by God, and nobody, RG, not a living soul is going to change that.
Hitler was made Chancellor, by God, and nobody, T, not a living soul is going to change that. :lol

That tired ass old Hitler horseshit.
Though it works for the Germans and their children. Those little squirts ain't had to go to war since Hitler. 75+ years later they don't have to go to slaughter. Our children do. Then a goodly portion return home thru Dover, AFB. Ma & pa are there to meet them.
Same with the Jap children. 80 years for them since that Sunday morning wake up call.

Hopefully the bad example of Trump will do something similarly positive for our country.
Kids aren't dumb, and they have seen the Big Lie for what it is. Revulsion against the religious right is hastening its decline. Good riddance.

Spoiler alert:
Trump isn't going to jail.
Here's a post that is not going to age well.
I might grant he can probably delay it, and even by the time they win a conviction, he may be too elderly to imprison.

was Pompeo's offer to pay Sondland's legal expenses an attempt to buy him off? when Sondland's testimony didn't go Trump's way, the offer disappeared.

If Sondland doesn't have Pompeo offer documented, it's "he said / he said"
Pompeo is a solid Christian man and warrior, certainly he is a man of his word, bone-deep honest and pure.

He fell down one day. His Mother ran to Him, helped Him up. You know what He said to His Mother, RG?

“All we need from the President [Zelensky] is to say, I’m gonna put an honest prosecutor in charge, he’s gonna investigate and dig up the evidence that presently exists and is there any other evidence about involvement of the 2016 election, and then the Biden thing has to be run out… Somebody in Ukraine’s gotta take that seriously,”

It doesn't take a lawyer to know that none of the witnesses called have provided any proof of a quid pro quo.

Technically, lying to Congress is a crime.
So many people willing to lie under oath for Trump, it's what, seven now?
