Every Insane Thing Donald Trump Has Said About Global Warming

Well, most of them, anyway!

Donald Trump has a lot of things to say about global warming.

He's called it an urgent problem, and

he's called it a hoax.

He's claimed it's a scam invented by the Chinese, and

he's denied that he ever said that.

He's promised to "cancel" the historic Paris climate agreement, and

he's said he still has an "open mind" on the matter.

Some environmental activists have pointed to Trump's unpredictable statements (http://www.motherjones.com/environment/2016/11/climate-chnage-trump-environmentalists) as evidence that he might not follow through on his campaign pledges to dismantle the Obama administration's climate legacy.

But Trump has already put one of the nation's most prominent climate skeptics (http://www.motherjones.com/environment/2016/11/climate-deniers-trump-administration) in charge of the Environmental Protection Agency transition.

And just last week, one of Trump's top aides assured Americans (https://youtu.be/KlEJGWzdjQk?t=11m12s) that the president-elect still believes climate science is mostly "bunk."

For those keeping score at home, here's a timeline of the Donald's thoughts on global warming

Boeing says current Air Force One contract worth $170 million — not $4 billion as Trump claimed

Boeing Co on Tuesday responded to a call by President-elect Donald Trump about the costs of a new Air Force One, saying that it currently had only a $170 million contract to determine the capabilities of the new presidential aircraft.“

We look forward to working with the U.S. Air Force on subsequent phases of the program allowing us to deliver the best plane for the president at the best value for the American taxpayer,” said spokesman Todd Blecher.

Trump on Tuesday said costs for the new plane were expected to reach $4 billion and urged the government to cancel a contract with Boeing for the jet.

The budgeted costs for the Air Force One replacement program are $2.87 billion for the fiscal years 2015 through 2021, according to budget documents. But the production contract has not yet been awarded to Boeing.

Harrison Ford Corrects Trump’s Air Force One Praise: ‘Donald, It Was a Movie’

While doing press for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, actor Harrison Fordprovided Republican presidential candidate Donald Trumpwith a reality check regarding the film Air Force One.

Trump mentioned the latter film and Ford’s performance in it during an interview with The New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/03/us/politics/voters-worried-about-terrorism-look-for-leaders-at-home-on-silver-screen.html?&_r=0) last week.

“My favorite was Harrison Ford on the plane,” he said. “I love Harrison Ford — and not just because he rents my properties. He stood up for America.”

So imagine Ford’s surprise when an Australian television reporter asked him about Trump’s praise.

“Donald, it was a movie,” :lol

Ford said as he addressed the camera.

“It’s not like this in real life, but how would you know?”

The contract for the planes was projected at about $3 billion, but costs have been reported to be rising. The Air Force had previously earmarked $1.65 billion for two new jets, but hadn’t detailed costs beyond that. Boeing was the sole builder to bid on the planes, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Did the Opioid Epidemic Help Donald Trump Win?

New research shows that Trump made huge gains in counties with the highest rates of death from drugs, alcohol, and suicide. :lol

Drug overdoses and drug-related diseases have killed nearly 400,000 people in the United States over the past decade—on par with the number of American soldiers who died during World War II. Nearly 400,000 others have committed suicide, while 250,000 died from liver disease and other alcohol-related illnesses. About a fifth of all of these deaths involved prescription painkillers or heroin. Together, these “deaths of despair” have been destructive enough to shorten the life span (https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/a-group-of-middle-aged-american-whites-is-dying-at-a-startling-rate/2015/11/02/47a63098-8172-11e5-8ba6-cec48b74b2a7_story.html?utm_term=.33e20268e221)of a whole demographic group, namely middle-aged white people without college degrees.

Beyond its devastating effect on families and communities, there is emerging evidence that this health crisis also has political repercussions.

Across the country, and particularly in the Industrial Midwest and New England, Trump was unexpectedly successful (as compared to Mitt Romney) in counties heavily burdened by opioid overdoses and other “deaths of despair.”

economic distress, which is acute in many of the areas where Trump overperformed and where mortality rates are high.

“In the kinds of places that I’m talking about, jobs have been declining for at least three decades, and the dignity of work has been replaced by suffering and the feeling that the people in power don’t care about them,”

Trump offered a scapegoat for the overdose crisis and the related, rapid fraying of the social fabric in white communities: immigrants.

many narcotic addictions and overdoses were, initially, homegrown—kickstarted by prescription opioids relentlessly marketed by American pharmaceutical companies, who’ve profited handsomely.

Since the Affordable Care Act was passed, 1.2 million (http://statenetwork.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/State-Network-Manatt-Medicaid-States-Most-Powerful-Tool-to-Combat-the-Opioid-Crisis-July-2016.pdf) people with substance abuse disorders have gained insurance coverage for treatment through Medicaid. The expansion helped somewhat to make up for a decline in public health funding in many states. “It’s hard to convey how much worse things were before the Medicaid expansion,”

https://www.thenation.com/article/did-the-opioid-epidemic-help-donald-trump-win/

Repugs won't do a fucking thing for the flyover country that Trash conned.

POLL: AMERICANS FAVOR KEEPING AIR FORCE ONE AND CANCELLING TRUMP

NEW YORK — In a stunning rebuke of the President-elect, a new poll shows that a majority of Americans favor keeping Air Force One and cancelling Donald Trump.

According to the poll,

ninety-four per cent of Americans believe that Air Force One is qualified to be an airplane, while only twenty-one per cent feel that way about Trump as President.

When told that Air Force One has a mobile command center capable of launching a nuclear attack, a broad majority said that they would feel safer with Air Force One flying around with no one in it for four years than with Trump on board.

And, in perhaps the most troubling result for Trump,

if a Presidential election were held today, Air Force One would defeat him by seventeen points.

Appearing on CNN, Trump surrogate

Kellyanne Conway called the poll results “meaningless” and said that they would not prevent Trump from starting Twitter wars with other inanimate objects.

Trump's Air Force One tweet appears to be retaliation against Boeing for hurting his fee-fees (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/12/6/1607952/-Trump-s-Air-Force-One-tweet-appears-to-be-retaliation-against-Boeing-for-hurting-his-fee-fees)

why did Donald Trump suddenly take to Twitter to denounce Boeing for an "out of control" "$4 billion" contract for a replacement Air Force One? TPM notes that it quite possibly could be a tantrum-fueled attempt to damage the company after Trump read earlier in the morning that someone at Boeing criticized him (http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/did-boeing-get-out-of-line).

Google search (which is obviously an imperfect measure) suggests that the Tribune story was the only published mention of the speech in the last 24 hours prior to Trump's tweet.

It seems at least plausible that the Tribune story was the first or one of the first reports of the speech Trump or his team saw.

What appears to have happened is that earlier this morning, the Chicago Tribune published a story (http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/columnists/ct-boeing-china-trump-robert-reed-1206-biz-20161205-column.html) reporting that a Boeing executive had some skeptical things to say about Donald Trump. We already know that Trump obsessively scans the news (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2015/06/17/donald-trumps-handwritten-war-with-the-press/?utm_term=.44e8dcab6e31) for critical mentions of himself.

[B]a mere twenty minutes or so after the Tribune story about a Boeing executive criticizing him was published, Trump suddenly found a strong opinion over one particular Boeing contract,

declared it "out of control," and demanded it be canceled.

The result was a new out-of-nowhere presidential demand, and a sudden nosedive (http://www.businessinsider.com/boeing-shares-fall-trump-air-force-one-2016-12) for Boeing’s stock.

For a second time, judge won't toss Trump Florida golf club lawsuit (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/12/8/1608696/-For-a-second-time-judge-won-t-toss-Trump-Florida-golf-club-lawsuit)

If President-elect Donald Trump thought he could waive a magic want and make all his legal troubles disappear after the election, he was wrong. On Wednesday a U.S. District Court Judge refused to toss a 2013 lawsuit against Trump National Golf Course in Jupiter, Florida. (http://realtime.blog.palmbeachpost.com/2016/12/07/judge-to-trump-no-getting-out-of-jupiter-golf-lawsuit/)

Club members say Trump hasn’t returned an estimated $6 million to members of his country club off Donald Ross Road. Trump bought the club from the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club & Spa for $5 million in 2012.

When the Ritz owned it, deposits ranging from $35,000 to $210,000 were refundable. But once Trump bought the club, some club members say Trump changed the rules and refused to return their deposits.

This is the second time U.S. District Court Judge Kenneth Marra denied Trump’s request to throw out the case; he did so for the first time in July. The trial was held in August and judgement still awaits (http://realtime.blog.palmbeachpost.com/2016/12/07/judge-to-trump-no-getting-out-of-jupiter-golf-lawsuit/).

Donald Trump sent a Dec. 17, 2013, letter to club members that is a key piece of evidence in the case. In that letter, Trump said Ritz members could “opt in” to his new club, in exchange for agreeing their memberships were nonrefundable.

If members weren’t interested in opting in, and they remained on a club resignation list, Trump said he didn’t want them, anyway.

“You’re probably not going to be a very good club member … you’re out,” Trump wrote in the letter. “As the owner of the club, I do not want them to utilize the club nor do I want their dues.”

Robert Reich: Trump is already abusing his power and acting like a two-bit dictator

No President or President-elect in history has ever before publicly condemned individual citizens for criticizing him. That occurs in two-bit dictatorships intent on stamping out dissent.

No President or President-elect has ever before bypassed the media and spoken directly to large numbers of his followers in order to disparage individual citizens who criticize him. That occurred in the fascist rallies of the 1930s.

America came closest to this in the 1950s when Senator Joseph McCarthy wrecked the lives of thousands of American citizens whom he arbitrarily and carelessly claimed were communists.

McCarthy’s reign of terror ended when a single man asked him publicly, during the televised hearings McCarthy was conducting, “have you no decency, sir (http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3 Fv%3DK1eA5bUzVjA&t=ZjRiM2YwZGIzYzE5MTcxM2EzMmMzMzMwOGNjNmY1NTY1N2Uz YjY4YSxpV0F2aUtSeA%3D%3D&b=t%3AhQ9Ds4P3Iv6D7mgEr8WMqg&m=1)?” In that moment, Americans began to see McCarthy for the tyrant he was.

McCarthy’s assistant was Roy Cohn, an attorney who perfected the art of character assassination.

Roy Cohn was also one of Donald J. Trump’s mentors. (http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2016%2F0 6%2F21%2Fus%2Fpolitics%2Fdonald-trump-roy-cohn.html%3F_r%3D0&t=ZjM2ZmEzZmU1Mzc2ZTZlMjYyNjBhZWFmNTIzMjRiNThiYzM1 ZmVlYSxpV0F2aUtSeA%3D%3D&b=t%3AhQ9Ds4P3Iv6D7mgEr8WMqg&m=1)

Trump’s capricious use of power to denigrate and even endanger his critics must end. He is not yet our President.

When he becomes so, he will have far greater power. Our freedom and our democracy could be gravely jeopardized.

We must join together to condemn these acts. Has Trump no decency?

OBAMA SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER REQUIRING PRESIDENT OF UNITED STATES TO BE TAXPAYER

WASHINGTON — Calling his action “long overdue,” President Barack Obama on Friday signed an executive order requiring that the President of the United States be a federal taxpayer.

The order, which makes a non-taxpayer ineligible to serve as President, goes into effect immediately.

“Since the President has such a large say in how federal taxes are spent, it only makes sense that he or she contribute to those taxes, too,”

he said, noting that all forty-three people who have served as President have been taxpayers.

The President urged people “not to read too much into the timing” of his executive order. “It just seemed like the right thing to do,” he said.

Obama’s action drew howls of protest from Republicans on Capitol Hill, including the House Speaker Paul Ryan.

“This is nothing less than an attack on the American dream of paying no taxes,” Ryan said.

The President, who brushed off that criticism, is reportedly

readying another executive order requiring Cabinet members to have held at least a summer job relevant to their posts.

Maybe the Answer Is That He Can't Divest

I've suggested that the whole notion of 'conflicts of interest' doesn't really capture what we're dealing with here, which is

really a pretty open effort to leverage the presidency to expand his family business.

But a couple things came together for me today which make me think we've all missed the real issue.

Maybe he can't divest because

he's too underwater to do so or

more likely he's too dependent on current and expanding cash flow to divest or even turn the reins over to someone else.

The idea that Trump is heavily leveraged and reliant on on-going cash flow to keep his business empire from coming apart and collapsing into bankruptcy was frequently discussed during the campaign.

Trump sold all of his stock back in June, a portfolio which his disclosures suggest was worth (https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2016-12-06/trump-sold-all-his-stocks-in-june-and-doesn-t-hold-boeing-co) as much as $38 million. Trump told Matt Lauer that he sold the stock because (http://money.cnn.com/2016/12/07/investing/trump-stock-conflict-of-interest/) he was confident he'd win and "would have a tremendous ... conflict of interest owning all of these different companies" while serving as President.

Now, c'mon.

Donald Trump sold off all his equities more than six months before he could become president because he was concerned about conflicts of interest? Please. That doesn't pass the laugh test.

The most obvious explanation is that forgiving that debt from his campaign required him — through whatever mix of contingencies — to free up more cash, either for the campaign or personal expenses or perhaps to have a certain amount of cash on hand because of terms of other debts. It does not seem plausible at all that the timing is coincidental.

A heavily leveraged business, one that is indebted and dependent on cash flow to keep everything moving forward, can be kind of like a shark. It has to keep moving forward or it dies.

More plausibly, and consistent with Trump's history over the last couple decades, Trump's business is dependent on an ever expanding number of deals not just to grow but to stay afloat at all.

It is certainly plausible that if Trump simply sold off his company in toto, he'd be in debt.

behavior, circumstantial evidence and lots of evidence of tight reliance on cash flow to service debts of various sorts suggest that Trump may not be able to divest or separate himself from his business.

Why doesn't he?

Why does he court all this controversy?

Because he can't.

If all this is true, the peril of Trump's foreign deals is larger than we may realize.

It's not just a matter of hitting the billionaire big time.

It could be a matter of staying afloat at all.

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/maybe-the-answer-is-that-he-can-t-divest

And of course, we know he's heavily indebted to Deutsche Bank fined $15B by US govt, and what about any debts to the Russian oligarchy?

Trash lets bosom buddy Pootin take the Baltics, or all of Ukraine, and Pootin gets "his" oligarchy to forgive debts to Trash.

Trump biographer: Stop overestimating him — he’s a cross between a junkie and a hungry chicken

a scathing editorial published Friday, The Truth About Trump author Michael D’Antonio said that critics who think President-elect Donald Trump will behave with more maturity and gravitas when he takes office are missing the point.

“The President-elect probably cannot control himself,” D’Antonio wrote in the New York Daily News (http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/critics-trump-nasty-twitter-attacks-point-article-1.2904936?cid=bitly). “I interviewed him for six hours when writing a biography, and I mean that literally.”

Trump’s habit of teeing off on average Americans on Twitter, D’Antonio said, is symptomatic of

his bottomless desire for approval and attention and his inability to moderate his feelings when he feels that he is under attack.
“Long an advocate of responding ’10 times harder’ when his feelings are hurt — and they are very easily hurt — Trump has a tendency to strike with massive force without much concern for the size or vulnerability of the person in his sights,” D’Antonio said.

“I suspect this is because the pain he feels when criticized doesn’t depend on the source. No matter who speaks out, he cannot bear disapproval.”

This explains his tirade at Indiana labor official Chuck Jones (http://www.rawstory.com/2016/12/union-head-blows-off-lowlife-trump-twitter-tantrum-i-dont-pay-a-hell-of-a-lot-of-attention-to-him/), which has ultimately resulted in Jones receiving death threats (http://www.cnbc.com/2016/12/08/union-leader-who-called-out-donald-trump-says-hes-getting-threats-from-trump-supporters.html) against himself and his children thanks to Trump’s 17 million Twitter followers.

“Unseemly and irresponsible in a candidate, Trump’s overreactions are downright dangerous when they come from someone with the power he now possesses.

Besides the obvious danger that arises when a president or President-elect paints a rhetorical target on a citizen’s back, we have to consider the civic damage done when people are made afraid to speak their mind about a political leader,” D’Antonio said.

But like fellow Trump biographer Tony Schwartz — who ghost wrote Trump’s bestselling The Art of the Deal — D’Antonio said that Trump has no attention span for anything that does not directly pertain to his own greatness.

Schwartz called Trump (http://www.rawstory.com/2016/07/hes-a-living-black-hole-here-are-11-horrifying-revelations-about-trump-by-his-former-ghostwriter/) “a living black hole” with the attention span of a “kindergartner.”

“It’s impossible to keep him focused on any topic, other than his own self-aggrandizement, for more than a few minutes,” Schwartz said.

D’Antonio likened Trump to a junkie whose drug is attention and the instant rush he gets from Twitter is too powerful a high for him to give up or even control his need for.

“Trump, who has long been addicted to attention, had found a new, super-potent form of it in social media. This hit was not only powerful; it was available in an endless supply that he could access at will,” he wrote.

He finished with a disturbing image of Trump as a mindless animal in a behavioral experiment.

“He no longer had to manipulate journalists and wait for them to act. He could tap out a few words and get what he wanted immediately.

It reminded me of psychologist B.F. Skinner’s experiments with chickens that learned to push a button with their beaks for the reward of a food pellet.

Once they had trained themselves, the birds couldn’t stop pecking even when the pellets no longer came and they injured themselves,” he said.

“Like Skinner’s animal subjects,” he concluded.

“Trump has learned to get what he wants. No matter who criticizes him, no matter the consequences, he will keep doing it.

Those who ask if he will stop scouring the press for evidence of enemies and using his power in an indiscriminate ways should stop thinking of him as a conventional politician and start looking at him as a chicken.”

Donald Trump Admits To Grand Rapids Rally Crowd That “Lock her up!” Was A Big Lie

President-elect Donald Trump continued his "thank you" tour with a stop in Grand Rapids, Michigan, during which his crowd chanted their beloved, "Lock her up!" Only to be told by Trump, "That plays great before the election- now we don't care."

President-elect Donald Trump continued his “thank you” tour with a stop in Grand Rapids, Michigan, during which his crowd chanted their beloved, “Lock her up!” Only to be told by Trump, “That plays great before the election- now we don’t care.”This was pointed out by Alexandra Jaffe:

The crowd behind him rolled with the changes from their leader, even though this chant was repeated as a reason many of them just had to vote for a man who bragged about sexual assault and mocked a disabled reporter.

They were so worried about Hillary Clinton’s “crimes”, you see. Now, it’s all a big joke. LOL.

Some things never change though:

Donald Trump got their vote, and now as a thank you, he’s telling them LOL, we’re not locking Hillary up. They’re all fine with it, because anything Trump says goes.

Perfect Trump: Perfect middle finger as thank you but the best part is his base doesn’t even care.

Starting At the Bottom

Pew just published approval ratings for the last five presidents (http://www.people-press.org/2016/12/08/low-approval-of-trumps-transition-but-outlook-for-his-presidency-improves/) during their transition periods, with approval

a) for explaining their policies and plans and

b) for their cabinet choices. They are:

Bush 65/59,

Clinton 62/64, Bush 50/58,

Obama 72/71.

For Trump they are 41/40.

A president can destroy a private citizen by targeting them, but Trump doesn't care (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/12/9/1609238/-A-president-can-destroy-a-private-citizen-by-targeting-them-but-Trump-doesn-t-care)

Last year, an 18-year-old college student decided to participate in the political process at a New Hampshire town hall, where she had the nerve (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2015/10/13/that-passionate-young-woman-who-questioned-donald-trump-in-new-hampshire-shes-a-volunteer-for-jeb-bush/?utm_term=.a58e9b045ac6) to challenge Donald Trump.

"So, maybe I'm wrong, maybe you can prove me wrong," said Lauren Batchelder, a student at St. Anselm College in Manchester. "But I don't think you're a friend to women."

How dare she! Naturally, Trump put his crooked little tweeters to work, writes (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/this-is-what-happens-when-donald-trump-attacks-a-private-citizen-on-twitter/2016/12/08/a1380ece-bd62-11e6-91ee-1adddfe36cbe_story.html?utm_term=.895d8b3faac1) Jenna Johnson.

The next morning, Trump fired back on Twitter — calling Batchelder

an “arrogant young woman” (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/653897939933364224?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) and

accusing her of being a “plant” (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/653961401363468288?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) from a rival campaign.

Her phone began ringing with callers leaving threatening messages that were often sexual in nature.

Her Facebook and email inboxes filled with similar messages.

As her addresses circulated on social media and her photo flashed on the news, she fled home to hide.

“I didn’t really know what anyone was going to do,” said Batchelder, now 19, who has never discussed her experience with a reporter until now. “

He was only going to tweet about it and that was it, but I didn’t really know what his supporters were going to do, and that to me was the scariest part.”

“Raw ego and proud illiteracy

a severely learning-disabled man

with a real character problem will be president.”

“‘Alas for the Trump voters, the disasters he will bring on this country will fall more heavily on them than anyone else.

The uneducated white males who elected him are the vulnerable ones, and

they will not like what happens next.”

Trump should get a new hairdo rather than

continuing to look like a “hotel lounge pianist in 1959.”

Keillor says a makeover would take about 15 minutes max.

And while they’re at it, get a speech therapist “to smooth out the Tony Soprano accent and give him a presidential voice like Nixon's or Reagan's and cut out those irritating repetitions for emphasis.”

Keillor mocks, “Do you know what I mean? Am I right? Am I right? You know I'm right. You better believe I'm right.”

“He will never be my president because

he doesn't read books,

can't write more than a sentence or two at a time,

has no strong loyalties beyond himself,

is more insular than any New Yorker I ever knew, and because

I don't see anything admirable or honorable about him.

This sets him apart from other politicians.

The disaffected white blue-collar workers elected a Fifth Avenue tycoon to rescue them from the elitists -- fine, I get that -- but

they could've chosen a better tycoon.

One who

served in the military or

attends church or

reads history,

loves opera,

sails a boat --

something -- anything --

raises llamas,

plays the oboe,

runs a 5K race now and then,

has close friends from childhood.

I look at him and there's nothing there.”

This Political Theorist Predicted the Rise of Trumpism. His Name Was Hunter S. Thompson.

In Hell’s Angels, the gonzo journalist wrote about left-behind people motivated only by “an ethic of total retaliation.” Sound familiar?

https://www.thenation.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/hunter_s_thompson_ap_img.jpg?scale=896&compress=80

What’s truly shocking about reading the book today is how well

Thompson foresaw the retaliatory, right-wing politics that now goes by the name of Trumpism.

After following the motorcycle guys around for months, Thompson concluded that

the most striking thing about them was not their hedonism but their “ethic of total retaliation” against a technologically advanced and economically changing America in which they felt they’d been counted out and left behind.

Thompson saw the appeal of that retaliatory ethic. He claimed that a small part of every human being longs to burn it all down, especially when faced with great and impersonal powers that seem hostile to your very existence.

In the United States, a place of ever greater and more impersonal powers, the ethic of total retaliation was likely to catch on.

https://www.thenation.com/article/this-political-theorist-predicted-the-rise-of-trumpism-his-name-was-hunter-s-thompson/ (https://www.thenation.com/article/this-political-theorist-predicted-the-rise-of-trumpism-his-name-was-hunter-s-thompson/)

TRUMP GRILL COULD BE THE WORST RESTAURANT IN AMERICA

And it reveals everything you need to know about our next president.

Donald Trump (http://www.vanityfair.com/people/donald-trump) is “a poor person’s idea of a rich person,” Fran Lebowitzrecently observed (http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/10/fran-lebowitz-trump-clinton-election) at The Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit.

“They see him. They think, ‘If I were rich, I’d have a fabulous tie like that.’” :lol

Nowhere, perhaps, does this reflection appear more accurate than at

Trump Grill (which is occasionally spelled Grille on various pieces of signage).

On one level, the Grill (or Grille), suggests the heights of plutocratic splendor—a steakhouse built into the basement of one’s own skyscraper.

http://media.vanityfair.com/photos/58518de6972218dd20575547/master/w_900,c_limit/trump-tower-grill-restaurant-new-york-city-02.jpg

he restaurant features a stingy number of French-ish paintings that look as though they were bought from Home Goods.

Wall-sized mirrors serve to make the place look much bigger than it actually is.

The bathrooms transport diners to the experience of desperately searching for toilet paper at a Venezuelan grocery store (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SeVv277d0I).

And like all exclusive bastions of haute cuisine, there is a sandwich board in front advertising two great prix fixe deals.

The allure of Trump’s restaurant, like the candidate, is that it seems like a cheap version of rich.

The inconsistent menus—literally, my menu was missing dishes that I found on my dining partners’—were chock-full of steakhouse classics doused with unnecessarily high-end ingredients.

The menu itself would like to impress diners with how important it is, randomly capitalizing fancy words like “Prosciutto” and “Julienned” (and, strangely, ”House Salad”).

Our waiter, coiffed and charming, was determined to gaslight us into thinking we were having a good time.

“Trump gets the taco bowl and the lasagna and baked ziti,” he said, before subsequently informing the table that we could not order the lasagna or baked ziti.

I asked the waiter what Trump’s children eat. He didn’t seem to understand the question, or, like Marco Rubio (http://www.vanityfair.com/people/marco-rubio), appeared unable to depart from his prescribed talking points.

“Oh, I’ve shaken hands with him before, and they’re pretty normal-sized hands (http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/03/how-donald-trump-became-the-short-fingered-vulgarian),” he responded.

There was the prerequisite, practically mandatory taco bowl. The dish became the most popular item on the menu after Trump turned it into a social-media avatar of racism this summer, tweeting a photo of him happily devouring it on Cinco de Mayo and declaring, “I love Hispanics!” (https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/728297587418247168?lang=en)

Perhaps Trump’s veneer of a steakhouse is too obviously a veneer, meant for the hoodied masses to visit once and never return.

(There are already an infinite number of articles about how Trump’s mass-produced products are meant to impress a hollow sense of wealth.)

This is on me,” said our waiter, who must have noticed that we sent barely touched plates back to the kitchen, as he slipped us a tiny chocolate cake buried under whipped cream and anxious drizzles of caramel with our check, and my heart broke.

It’s not his fault that he has to run garbage food back and forth,

http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/12/trump-grill-review?mbid=social_twitter

PUTIN TO SING AT TRUMP INAUGURATION

http://www.newyorker.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Borowitz-PutintoSingatInauguration-1200.jpg

WASHINGTON — After having difficulty persuading prominent entertainers to participate at the event, the Trump transition team announced on Sunday that the Russian President Vladimir Putin would sing at Donald J. Trump’s Inauguration next month.

In a brief statement from the Kremlin, Putin said, “I will be most delighted to perform for my comrade.”

The choice of Putin raised eyebrows in Washington, since the Russian, while famous for invading neighboring countries and imprisoning political opponents, is not particularly well known as a singer.

The Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway pushed back against such criticism during an appearance on CNN.

“If we limited ourselves to people who had talent and experience, that would disqualify half of our Cabinet,”

she said.

Putin’s choice of musical material also stirred controversy, as politicians on both sides of the aisle questioned

his plan to perform the Russian national anthem.

According to those critics, the spectacle of Putin praising the glory and majesty of Russia in song would be inappropriate for the Inauguration of an American President.

In an attempt to quell that controversy, Putin said late on Sunday that he would instead serenade Trump by singing the Bette Midler classic, “Wind Beneath My Wings.”

Trump inauguration takes shape: Performers include Kings of Chaos at 'rock and roll salute to armed services heroes' - along with Blues Traveler star

Very few details have come out about Donald Trump's official inaugural activities besides Jackie Evancho being named national anthem singer

However, Politico reported some musical acts that plan to perform at surrounding inaugural events

Veterans will be saluted by the rock super group Kings of Chaos and also by Blues Traveler's John Popper and Sam & Dave's Sam Moore

While four years ago Kesha played at the same fundraiser, the Recording Industry Association of America has country group Big & Rich at an event

A number of musicians whose names have been floated for the inaugural have since said they will not perform, including Garth Brooks and Andrea Bocelli

Robert Reich: Trump’s ‘Leanings Are Toward Tyranny’

Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich warned on Democracy Now! today, “Donald Trump also does not have any understanding of a democracy. And if anything, his leanings are toward tyranny.”

“And by tyranny,” he explained,

“I simply mean someone who absorbs the trappings of power but doesn’t understand that he, in a democracy, is a public servant. He is working for us, we are not working for him. And in many ways, Donald Trump seems to be indifferent, at best, to the democratic process.”

Reich recently wrote about the seven ways tyrants squelch speech. He points to all of these:

Berate the media
Blacklist critical media
Turn the public against the media
Condemn satirical or critical comments
Threaten the media directly
Limit media access
Bypass the media and communicate with the public directly

He told Amy Goodman that Trump’s behavior towards the press exhibits all of this––

”not the habit of a democratic—democratically elected president.”

And he insists this is different from others before Trump:

“We’ve never before had a president or president-elect who has taken the media on so directly and so negatively and

tried to plant in the public’s mind… the notion that the press is the enemy itself.

If the public doesn’t believe in a free and independent press, then we’re in a kind of fact-free universe,

because––and also a president is immune from criticism.

And I think that’s, consciously or not, what Donald Trump is seeking.”

Ex-spy explains how Trump’s scorn will cripple the CIA: Foreign assets know ‘facts will be ignored’

Former covert CIA agent J.C. Carleson has predicted that President-elect Donald Trump’s disdain for intelligence collected by the the agency will mean that foreign assets eventually refuse to help the United States. In a column for Fortune this week (http://fortune.com/2016/12/19/donald-trump-cia-twitter-intelligence-briefings/), the spy-turned-author reacts to reports that Trump is refusing to participate in daily intelligence briefings, which she concedes are not as exciting as “Breitbart headlines” that “create lurid stories out of thin air.”

“I fear that Trump’s rejection of both the content and the conclusions offered to him by the intelligence community will have a profound chilling effect on the recruitment of new assets, and

the willingness of existing assets to continue to provide information,” Carleson writes.

“Because, why should someone risk his or her life to provide sensitive information that the world now knows will go unread in our highest office?”

According to the former CIA official, Trump’s disregard for human intelligence has “consequences beyond Trump’s own dearth of information,

because once again, it serves to erode the motivation of those who might provide us with information we desperately need—information that may include details of threats to American lives and infrastructure, for example.”

“The world knows that, in the incoming administration, facts will be ignored, and reasoned analysis will be rejected,”

she writes.

“On an individual level, the why determines the what, and without the motivation of knowing that their sacrifices will ultimately make a difference, CIA sources may choose, in Trump’s parlance, to walk away from the deal.”

“Flawed individuals will victimize you”: A top FBI profiler’s lessons on extreme narcissists like Trump

There are 130 warning signs of the narcissistic personality. Trump checks off at least 90

Navarro’s book warns that if a “person has a preponderance of the major features of a narcissistic personality,” then he “is an emotional, psychological, financial or physical danger to you or others.” As the book “The Narcissism Epidemic (https://www.amazon.com/Narcissism-Epidemic-Living-Age-Entitlement/dp/1416575995/?tag=alternorg08-20)” explained, “A recent psychiatric study found that the biggest consequences of narcissism — especially when other psychiatric symptoms were held constant — was suffering by people close to them.”

“Nobody seems to realize that normal rules do not apply when you are interviewing a narcissist,” this behavior expert explains to Fallows. “You can’t go about this in the way you were trained, because he is an expert at manipulating the very rules you learned.” He criticizes The New York Times for believing what Trump said when they interviewed him (which is the same point (https://thinkprogress.org/trump-fools-the-new-york-times-on-climate-change-180323fa5980#.qt5qzlgdp) I’ve made). Finally, he warns:

“… anyone who’s dealt with a narcissist knows you never, ever believe what they say — because they will say whatever the person they are talking to wants to hear. DT is a master at phrasing things vaguely enough that multiple listeners will be able to hear exactly what they want. It isn’t word salad; it’s overt deception, which is much more pernicious.”

To leap to the conclusion, people on the far end of the narcissist spectrum lack empathy. And, Navarro told me, “these personality traits are fixed and rigid.” That person doesn’t change. They don’t pivot. Not what you would want in the leader of the world’s most powerful nation.

The cult of Donald Trump?

I came across a 2012 article from Psychology Today (https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/spycatcher/201208/dangerous-cult-leaders) Navarro wrote listing “the typical traits of the pathological cult leader … you should watch for and which shout caution, get away, run or avoid if possible.” Here are just the first nine of the 50 traits he lists:

Has a grandiose idea of who he is and what he can achieve.

Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power or brilliance.

Demands blind unquestioned obedience.

Requires excessive admiration from followers and outsiders.

Has a sense of entitlement  —  expecting to be treated special at all times.

Is exploitative of others by asking for their money or that of relatives, putting others at financial risk.

Is arrogant and haughty in his behavior or attitude.

Has an exaggerated sense of power (entitlement) that allows him to bend rules and break laws.

Takes sexual advantage of members of his sect or cult.

Navarro writes, “If these traits sound familiar to leaders, groups, sects or organizations known to you then expect those who associate with them to live in despair and to suffer even if they don’t know it, yet.”
“Is Donald Trump Actually a Narcissist? Therapists Weigh In! (http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2015/11/donald-trump-narcissism-therapists)”:

“Textbook narcissistic personality disorder,”

echoed clinical psychologist Ben Michaelis.

“He’s so classic that I’m archiving video clips of him to use in workshops because there’s no better example of his characteristics,”

said clinical psychologist George Simon, who conducts lectures and seminars on manipulative behavior.

“Otherwise, I would have had to hire actors and write vignettes. He’s like a dream come true.”

Are such diagnoses untenable and/or meaningless? Not necessarily, says psychiatrist Dr. Sally Satel, a resident scholar at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, in an article in Slate in October, “It’s OK to Speculate About Trump’s Mental Health (http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/medical_examiner/2016/10/it_s_ok_to_speculate_about_donald_trump_s_mental_h ealth.html).”

these are the nine diagnostic criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) in DSM-V (“Five are needed to be eligible for the diagnosis”):

A grandiose logic of self-importance

A fixation with fantasies of infinite success, control, brilliance, beauty or idyllic love

A credence that he or she is extraordinary and exceptional and can only be understood by, or should connect with, other extraordinary or important people or institutions

A desire for unwarranted admiration

A sense of entitlement

Interpersonally oppressive behavior

No form of empathy

Resentment of others or a conviction that others are resentful of him or her

A display of egotistical and conceited behaviors or attitudes

Is Donald Trump Mentally Ill?

3 Professors Of Psychiatry Ask President Obama To Conduct ‘A Full Medical And Neuropsychiatric Evaluation’

Virtually every mental health professional I interviewed told me that they believed, with 100% certainty, that Mr. Trump satisfied the DSM criteria of this incurable illness and that, as a result, he is a serious danger to the country and the world.

Because someone afflicted with this incurable and progressive “Narcissistic Personality Disorder” simply can’t help himself.

Here’s why:

1. People with NPD are extremely sensitive and insecure. They psychologically require constant compliments and acknowledgement because they do not have their own internal self-esteem. They need to get it from others.

2. If someone does criticize them, even in a Tweet or on a television comedy show, it triggers this deep and painful lack of self-esteem and they MUST lash out to relieve the pain of the criticism.

3. They have only two modes: They are either fully your friend and love you or you are their enemy and they will do everything to discredit you or humiliate you. They can’t help it. The pain of having someone in their circle who does not approve of them or acknowledge them, (almost constantly), is too great.

4. There are only two ways to deal with someone with NPD, and they are both dangerous. There is no healthy way of interacting with someone with this affliction. If you criticize them they will lash out at you and if they have a great deal of power, that can be consequential. If you compliment them it only acts to increase the delusional and grandiose reality the sufferer has created, causing him to be even more reliant on constant and endless compliments and unwavering support.

5. Because they crave the attention and approval of others they develop great capacity to engage and entertain and can be quite charismatic, even to the point of developing a cult-like following.

6. Someone with NPD will NEVER get along with any member of the press, or any media outlet that criticizes him.

7. Someone with NPD will NEVER hire (and will fire) anyone who criticizes him. Therefore, and because they believe they know better than almost everyone else, they have a very hard time listening and taking any advice.

Concerns Expressed by Mental Health Professionals

The President of The United State and Commander in Chief is the only American who has ANY say over the mobilization of The United States Military, the authorization of a military strike on a perceived or real enemy and the launch of any and all of the weapons possessed by The United States Military, including 7,000 nuclear warheads.

There is no “Fail Safe”.

There is no “Team”.

There is no thoughtful review.

The GOP Is Becoming a Pro-Putin Party. Where Is Trump Going to Lead Them Next?

With Trump in the White House, it turns out the Republican establishment is surprisingly suggestible

Donald Trump is in the process of creating his own reality for his party. We should be profoundly concerned about the way in which Trump not only lies but encourages his supporters to believe the lies he tells. But can he actually remake the Republican Party in the process, to change its very identity and ideology?

Consider this:

Donald Trump is making the GOP, the party of Cold Warriors from Nixon to Reagan and beyond, into the

most pro-Russian party we've seen in generations, if ever.

Not only has Trump surrounded himself with advisers friendly to the Russian government,

he himself praised Vladimir Putin again and again during the campaign, and

now refuses to believe the consensus of the American intelligence community that Russia intervened in our election on his behalf.

One might also argue that Republicans are just now realizing that

Putin is a leader after their own hearts:

An avatar of anxious masculinity,

he finds democratic constraints inconvenient,

rules with an iron hand, and

has a habit of having his enemies killed.

Sure, there's a difference between Donald Trump railing against the "dishonest media" and Putin's disfavored journalists winding up dead with frightening regularity, but I suppose Republicans get where Putin is coming from.

More reality from down in Trash's rabbit hole

Ignorance or paranoia? Trump links three unrelated attacks in his “us vs. them” worldview

Based on zero information, our president-elect lumps distinct acts of violence into a struggle for civilization

Donald J. Trump (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump)
(https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump)✔@realDonaldTrump (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump)

Today there were terror attacks in Turkey, Switzerland and Germany - and it is only getting worse. The civilized world must change thinking!

5:21 PM - 19 Dec 2016 (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/810988379051610112)

That’s not a lot to go on — and not nearly enough to lump all three incidents together into one easily digestible package. But Trump has it all figured out, even going so far as to link the Berlin attack (https://greatagain.gov/statement-from-president-elect-donald-j-trump-on-the-attack-in-berlin-62ab3af41c17#.vo9f6vjfv) to the Islamic State (something authorities in Berlin have not done, since the one person they had detained has been released and the perpetrator appears to be unknown).

Trump even has a remedy: “The civilized world must change thinking!” Presumably this means that the “civilized world,” however he defines it, has to come around to the

Trumpian position (http://www.salon.com/2016/06/14/donald_trumps_war_with_islam_a_campaign_rooted_in_ pernicious_religious_discrimination/) that adherence to the Muslim faith makes a person a possible terrorist.

Once again, we are thrown into the “clash of civilizations” rhetoric. As a presidential candidate, Trump was a big believer in framing the “War on Terror” as a struggle between the Muslim and non-Muslim worlds, even going so far as to say “I think Islam hates us (http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/09/politics/donald-trump-islam-hates-us/).”

http://www.salon.com/2016/12/20/ignorance-or-paranoia-trump-links-three-unrelated-attacks-into-his-us-vs-them-worldview/

His White Male Christian Warriors are hearing, believing his call to War on Muslims. I expect some of his warriors to slaughter a bunch of US Muslims, like Roof slaughtered blacks.

Donald Trump’s questionable intelligence: All those false claims about his academic record and derision of others bespeak profound insecurity

Our president-elect loves to talk about his intellectual gifts and academic success. Shockingly, none of it's true

Trump frequently boasts about how smart he is. Anyone who feels compelled to tell everyone how smart he is is clearly insecure about his intelligence and accomplishments. In Trump’s case, he has good reason to have doubts.

Trump has the kind of street smarts (what he calls “gut instinct”) characteristic of con artists, but

his limited vocabulary,

short attention span,

ignorance of policy specifics,

indifference to scientific evidence and

admitted aversion to reading (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/donald-trump-doesnt-read-much-being-president-probably-wouldnt-change-that/2016/07/17/d2ddf2bc-4932-11e6-90a8-fb84201e0645_story.html?utm_term=.a8ed54c5bd27) raise questions about his intellectual abilities.

In 2004, in an interview (http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0403/21/le.00.html) with CNN, Trump said, “I went to the Wharton School of Finance. I got very good marks. I was a good student. It’s the best business school in the world, as far as I’m concerned.”

Trump has repeated that claim many times since. Each time, it isn’t clear if he’s trying to convince his interviewer or himself.

Trump frequently communicates via Twitter, which is not a good venue for displaying one’s linguistic prowess, but many observers have noted that

Trump has a difficult time expressing himself and speaking in complete sentences.

A linguistic analysis (http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/08/donald-trump-talks-like-a-third-grader-121340) last year by Politico found that Trump speaks at a fourth-grade level.

A study (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/03/18/trumps-grammar-in-speeches-just-below-6th-grade-level-study-finds/?utm_term=.dc85fd16176a) by researchers at Carnegie-Mellon University compared this year’s Republican and Democratic presidential candidates in terms of their

vocabulary and grammar. Trump’s scored at a fifth-grade level, the lowest of all the candidates.

Tony Schwartz, who spent a great deal of time with the developer while ghostwriting his book “The Art of the Deal,”noted (http://www.msnbc.com/am-joy/watch/donald-trump-s-ghostwriter-speaks-out-791859267813) that Trump has a very limited vocabulary.

It would hardly be surprising if these observations infuriated the vain and insecure Trump.

http://www.salon.com/2016/12/18/donald-trumps-questionable-intelligence-all-those-false-claims-about-his-academic-record-and-derision-of-others-bespeak-profound-insecurity/?source=newsletter

Trumpites bully congressional Republicans, Politico helps (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/12/21/1613281/-Trumpites-bully-congressional-Republicans-Politico-helps)

Aw, the poor babies! Congressional Republicans have run to Politico to complain about how mean the Trumpites (http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/donald-trump-congress-republicans-232800) are to them. The big bullies.

It’s little wonder that Capitol Hill Republicans have papered over their not-insignificant policy differences with Trump, shying away from any statement about the president-elect that might possibly be construed as critical. They’re terrified of arousing the ire of their tempestuous new leader — or being labeled a turncoat by his army of followers. […]

Since the election,

numerous congressional Republicans have refused to publicly weigh in on any Trump proposal at odds with Republican orthodoxy,

from his border wall to his massive infrastructure package.

The most common reason, stated repeatedly but always privately:

They're afraid of being attacked by Breitbart or other big-name Trump supporters. [...]
An editor at Breitbart, formerly run by senior Trump adviser Steve Bannon, said that fear is well-founded.

“If any politician in either party veers from what the voters clearly voted for in a landslide election :lol … we stand at the ready to call them out on it and hold them accountable,”

the person said.

Trump’s Infrastructure Financing Seems Like a Joke

There is much research showing the benefits of spending on traditional infrastructure such as roads and bridges.

There are also likely to be large gains from less traditional areas like broadband, where the U.S. ranks poorly among wealthy countries, and

improving the quality of public drinking water to avoid more Flint disasters.

Ideally, a public investment agenda would carry over into areas like early childhood education, which we know provides huge benefits to the children directly affected and the economy over the longer term.

But based on what is known to date, the Trump plan is not likely to meet these needs.

Because it relies on a tax credit, only projects that generate revenue would fit the bill.

That’s fine for toll roads and bridges, but this won’t repair our water systems and schools or even pay for repairing existing roads and bridges that are publicly owned.

And items like early childhood education would clearly not be on the agenda.

Of course we could privatize everything in sight, but this often does not go well. And it especially does not go well in the absence of strong government regulation.

Every believer in free market economics knows that an unregulated water monopoly will gouge its consumers.

But based on what is known to date, the Trump plan is not likely to meet these needs.

If the government financed $1 trillion in infrastructure through bond sales, the deficit hawks would all be screaming about the $1 trillion in new debt.

But if contractors spent $1 trillion in infrastructure financed by decades worth of tolls and other charges the economists would be silent, even though the public would be paying for both.

http://cepr.net/publications/op-eds-columns/trump-s-infrastructure-financing-seems-like-a-joke?utm_source=CEPR+feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+cepr+%28CEPR%29

A CNN panel this afternoon couldn’t help but just laugh today at recent remarks made by President-elect Donald Trump‘s doctor.

Trump win ignites hope for stalled Alaska copper, gold mine

A small Canadian miner is confident Donald Trump's U.S. presidential win will let it proceed with an application for a copper and gold mine in Alaska that has been stalled almost three years by environmental regulators aiming to protect the world's biggest sockeye salmon fishery.

Ronald Thiessen, chief executive officer and president of Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd, said he expected the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to announce in the first quarter of 2017 that it will let the application process proceed for the controversial project.

He said the company has held discussions with Trump's transition team, including Myron Ebell, who heads the EPA transition.

Shares in Northern Dynasty, which owns the massive Pebble deposit in southwest Alaska's Bristol Bay region, have more than doubled since the U.S. election on Nov. 8.

The shares surged 23 percent on Nov. 9 alone.

‘Mad Alex!’ Trump Called Former Scottish Prime Minister Names in Letters About Golf Course Dispute

Several of President Elect Donald Trump’s many ongoing controversies in recent years stemmed from Trump International Gold Links, his golf course in Scotland.

This includes everything from building a wall (http://www.mediaite.com/online/trump-built-a-wall-along-his-scottish-golf-course-and-tried-to-force-residents-to-pay-for-it/) so neighbors who wouldn’t sell their property to him couldn’t see the course (and billing them for it)

It’s the latter that’s back in the news on Wednesday, as Huffington Post U.K.received the response to a public records request for

all of the letters (http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/letters-donald-trump-alex-salmond-wind-turbines_uk_585908ede4b0acb6e4b90a9a?section=us_po litics) that Trump sent to Alex Salmond,

then Scotland’s First Minister (effectively the Scottish Prime Minister).

After a few months without a written reply, Trump started to get into attack mode, saying that

“You seem hell bent on destroying Scotland’s coastline and therefore, Scotland itself — but I will never be ‘on board,’ as you have stated I would be, with this insanity.”

He goes on to compare the

visual of wind turbines to “looking through the bars of a prison” for Scottish citizens,

adding that tourists won’t visit anymore for the same reason.

But Trump insisted he was “doing this to save Scotland and honor my mother, Mary Macleod, who, as you know, was born and raised in Stornoway.”

From there, Trump gets

increasingly hostile, eventually taking to calling Salmond “Mad Alex, the man who destroyed Scotland”

by suggesting that will be his legacy for centuries to come.

Eventually, in April 2012, Salmond send a calmly written, detailed response, only for Trump to send another eight to nine (it’s unclear if he got the reply yet before he sent his next letter a week later) letters over the next year or so.

Nixon and Repug dirty tricksters secretly, treasonously offered the VC a "better deal" from Nixon if they cancelled the talks, which they did, in October 1968, aka The Original October Surprise.

If the Peace Talks would have succeeded, it would have been huge boost for Humphrey, keeping criminal, disgraceful Tricky Dick out of the WH. Nixon was elected, with war criminal "peace is at hand" Kissinger tagging along.

OUCH! Newsweek exposes Trump as the business fraud he is. (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/8/2/1555822/-OUCH-Newsweek-exposes-Trump-as-the-business-fraud-he-is)

http://images.dailykos.com/images/282041/story_image/CJgxC5wUAAED55j_%281%29_%281%29.jpg?1470152861

The story goes through the bankruptcies of course, but there are defaults, people ripped off, and lie upon lie upon lie upon lie.

My favorite stuff from the article:

Trump lied to Congress.
Trump was publicly insulting Native Americans while other real business people were making deals to help manage their casinos.
Trump signed a deal with one Native American casino, and they paid him $6 million to go away.
Trump punched his second grade teacher
Trump lied in his books, then blamed the same woman he blamed for Melania Trump’s plagiarized speech.
Trump lied in a filing with a bank where he was trying to get a loan about how much he was worth.
Trump lied about how much money he got from his dad.
Trump’s dad gave him illegal loans by taking cash to his casino, turning it over at a craps table, loading up a suitcase with $5,000 chips, and leaving.
Trump’s earliest deals all lost money and he only did well when his dad guaranteed loans.
Trump spent $1 million per plane to turn a shuttle into a luxury trip that no one wanted to take. The planes were only worth $4 million each.

There is just so much more. I want to give a few quotes:

Lost contracts, bankruptcies, defaults, deceptions and indifference to investors—Trump’s business career is a long, long list of such troubles, according to regulatory, corporate and court records, as well as sworn testimony and government investigative reports.

Call it the art of the bad deal, one created by the arrogance and recklessness of a businessman whose main talent is self-promotion.

He is also pretty good at self-deception, and plain old deception. Trump is willing to claim success even when it is not there, according to his own statements.

“I’m just telling you, you wouldn’t say that you're failing,” he said in a 2007 deposition when asked to explain why he would give an upbeat assessment of his business even if it was in trouble.

“If somebody said, ‘How you doing?’ you're going to say you're doing good.”

Perhaps such dissembling is fine in polite cocktail party conversation, but in the business world it’s called lying.

Trump tells everyone he is a gazillionaire. How does he decide his net worth?

Trump is quick to boast that his purported billions prove his business acumen, his net worth is almost unknowable given the loose standards and numerous outright misrepresentations he has made over the years.

In that 2007 deposition, Trump said he based estimates of his net worth at times on “psychology” and “my own feelings.” :lol

But those feelings are often wrong—

in 2004, he presented unaudited financials to Deutsche Bank while seeking a loan, claiming he was worth $3.5 billion.

The bank concluded Trump was, to say the least, puffing; it put his net worth at $788 million, records show.

(Trump personally guaranteed $40 million of the loan to his company, so Deutsche coughed up the money. He later defaulted on that commitment.)

And the money quote:

Trump’s many misrepresentations of his successes and his failures matter—a lot.

As a man who has never held so much as a city council seat, there is little voters can examine to determine if he is competent to hold office.

He has no voting record and presents few details about specific policies.

Instead, he sells himself as qualified to run the country because he is a businessman who knows how to get things done, and his financial dealings are the only part of his background available to assess his competence to lead the country.

And while Trump has had a few successes in business, most of his ventures have been disasters.

It’s a long article (http://www.newsweek.com/2016/08/12/donald-trumps-business-failures-election-2016-486091.html), but it

puts the lie to Trump’s lie that he is a successful businessman. He’s just a guy who inherited money.

Huffington Post is reporting (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-voters-planned-parenthood_us_585ab7cde4b0d9a59456bfb8?seud9zixyd8 daq0k9) on a series of focus groups commissioned by Planned Parenthood and conducted by an independent research group, using Trump voters in Arizona, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Wisconsin.

“The guy I voted for, I’d be disappointed if he signed it,” said one middle-aged man in Milwaukee. “He’s making sure the Congress is on his side, but he doesn’t care about all us people who voted for him.”
[...]
The Trump supporters ― who ranged in age, race and gender ― said they voted for the real estate mogul because they were looking for something other than a career politician; someone who would fix the economy and change the way Washington works.

“If he does sign this, it’s gonna cause more disruption in our society,” said a white male Trump supporter in a Las Vegas focus group. “If he doesn’t sign it, it’s gonna make a big statement that he’s fighting for the little ones.”

I know that calling people stupid isn’t productive at all.

But anyone paying a decent amount of attention to just Donald Trump should have realized that he doesn’t care about anybody, least of all you fucking plebeians! He cares about Donald Trump only.

Well, this doesn’t bode well for the nation’s future. Here’s Trump briefly answering press questions on Wednesday. Specifically, where the reporter asks about his statement on the attack in Berlin:

Reporter: "Your comments about the truck attack in Berlin being against Christians, do think that this might….”

Trump: "Say it again?

Reporter: "The attack in Berlin being an attack on Christians….”

Trump: "Who said that? When was that said?”

Reporter: I believe you said it in a press release….”

Yep, he did.

In a statement released just yesterday (https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-portrays-berlin-attack-as-onslaught-against-christians-204552086.html)

he said “ISIS and other Islamist terrorists continually slaughter Christians in their communities and places of worship as part of their global jihad.”

So there you go.

Trump's doctor suggests Reagan proved it's OK to cover up a President's pre-senile dementia (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/12/21/1613285/-Trump-s-Dr-suggests-Reagan-proved-it-s-OK-to-cover-up-President-s-dementia-if-something-happens)

When asked about Trump’s health, Trump’s doctor said to STAT News (https://www.statnews.com/2016/12/21/harold-bornstein-trump-doctor/):

“there’s nothing to share” on a regular basis about a president’s health.

“Ronald Reagan had pre-senile dementia. I mean, seriously, did they share that one with you, or did Nancy just cover it up?”
“If something happens to him, then it happens to him,” Bornstein said.

“It’s like all the rest of us, no? That’s why we have a vice president and a speaker of the House and a whole line of people. They can just keep dying.”

Very reassuring. At least we can rest assured that,

since Reagan’s dementia was covered up, it won’t be “unpresidented” if Trump’s dementia is covered up as well.

I just hope it doesn’t cause Trump to launch nuclear bombs at China when he gets angry at a mistranslation that suggests Chinese leaders made fun of the size of his hands.

‘Never seen such a desperate need to be liked’: Internet mocks Trump’s insecure tweet on A-list celebs

resident elect, reality TV star, self-described pussy grabber — is having a difficult time landing A-list performances for his inauguration day.

One source told the Wrap (http://www.rawstory.com/2016/12/they-are-willing-to-pay-anything-trumps-star-status-fails-to-land-celebrities-for-inauguration/) Trump’s transition team is “willing to pay anything” for a Justin Timberlake or Bruno Mars appearance.

Another said they offered celebrity bookers ambassadorships (http://www.rawstory.com/2016/12/trumps-inaugural-committee-offered-diplomatic-posts-to-bookers-able-to-land-a-list-talent/) in exchange for handing over a vocal sensation to serenade the president-elect on his big day.

And yet, so far the only celebrity Trump’s officially landed is 16-year-old “America’s Got Talent” runner-up Jackie Evancho, :lol who will be performing the National Anthem on Jan. 20.

In fact, so many performers have publicly declined an Inauguration invite that mic.com (https://mic.com/articles/163138/trump-inauguration-2017-a-list-of-all-the-artists-who-have-publicly-refused-to-play#.d1jpKDOc6) is keeping a running list of all the artists who are saying no thanks (http://www.rawstory.com/2016/12/these-6-celebrities-are-refusing-to-play-trumps-inauguration-as-team-scrambles-to-secure-talent/) to the once-in-a-lifetime chance of honoring President Donald Trump.

Despite these reports, Trump insists his inauguration is going to be the party of the century, going so far as to insist he doesn’t even want cool people to come. Thursday, he pushed back against claims that celebs are refusing to play him to power:

Trump won votes promising to protect veterans, but major veterans groups are rattled by his plans

Donald Trump (http://www.latimes.com/projects/la-na-all-things-trump)’s flair for connecting with veterans won him an overwhelming share of their votes, but the durability of the alliance is already being tested as Trump’s search for a Veterans Affairs secretary veers in a direction that has alarmed some of America’s most influential retired soldiers.

Under pressure from conservative activists, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (http://www.latimes.com/topic/politics-government/newt-gingrich-PEGPF00196-topic.html) and organizations funded by the Koch Brothers, Trump is contemplating choosing an agency chief who would upend the entire veterans healthcare system. That would come over the protest of the country’s major veterans groups.

An appointment like that could prove an early test of whether the voters who backed Trump in November will continue to stick with him when his agenda smacks into interest groups that have been crusading on their behalf for decades.

Build He Won’t

we’re dealing with a president-elect whose business career is one long trail of broken promises and outright scams — someone who just paid $25 million (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/19/us/politics/trump-university.html?_r=0) to settle fraud charges against his “university.”

Given that history, you always have to ask whether he’s offering something real or simply engaged in another con job. In fact, you should probably

assume that it’s a scam until proven otherwise.

And we already know enough about his infrastructure plan to suggest, strongly, that it’s basically fraudulent, that it

would enrich a few well-connected people at taxpayers’ expense while doing very little to cure our investment shortfall.

calling for huge tax credits (http://peternavarro.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/infrastructurereport.pdf): billions of dollars in checks written to private companies that invest in approved projects, which they would end up owning. For example, imagine a private consortium building a toll road for $1 billion.

Under the Trump plan, the consortium might borrow $800 million while putting up $200 million in equity — but it would get a tax credit of 82 percent of that sum, so that its actual outlays would only be $36 million. And any future revenue from tolls would go to the people who put up that $36 million.

how is this scheme supposed to deal with infrastructure needs that can’t be turned into profit centers?

Our top priorities should include things like repairing levees and cleaning up hazardous waste; where’s the revenue stream?

what reason do we have to believe that this scheme will generate new investment, as opposed to repackaging things that would have happened anyway?

Cronyism and self-dealing are going to be the central theme of this administration — in fact, Mr. Trump is already meeting with foreigners to promote his business interests (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/20/us/politics/donald-trump-pauses-transition-work-to-meet-with-indian-business-partners.html).

China Tells Trump's Fools, Want A Trade War? We'll Start By Targeting Republican States. (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/12/22/1613630/-China-Tells-Trump-s-Fools-Want-A-Trade-War-We-ll-Start-By-Targeting-Republican-States)

Yesterday, Trump named Peter Navarro as a trade adviser. Navarro has been a big critic of trade with China. Well China is taking no time to respond (http://www.wsj.com/articles/china-weighs-response-to-new-u-s-trade-foe-1482401351):

Trump team’s threats to name China a currency manipulator and to erect high tariffs against it—drew fire in China outside official circles.

“China is now preparing some weapons,” Ms. Cheng said. China’s Commerce Ministry “is quite busy now, I’m sure.”
...
“Their objective will be to parry what Trump does with targeted reprisals in areas of U.S. vulnerability.”

Among China’s likely targets, say trade experts: Boeing Co. aircraft and U.S. farm exports from Midwestern Republican states.Canceled Boeing orders would hurt U.S. shareholders, labor unions and the U.S. trade deficit, prompting pressure on the new administration, said Derek Scissors, an economist at data provider China Beige Book International. As of last month, China is awaiting delivery of 292 Boeing jets.

Blocking soybean or other U.S. food exports would prompt action by Republican Senators whose constituents lack a large manufacturing base,
...
Beijing also could look to pressure U.S. multinationals such as General Motors Co., which relies on China as its largest sales market. “Some companies that already invest in China, we’re likely to push them to lobby Trump,” Ms. Cheng said.

To retaliate, China also could make use of informal trade barriers—making health claims against American food products, for example—that are highly technical and difficult to counter in the WTO but hurt U.S. exporters, some experts said.

“Even if U.S. companies move back to the U.S., it doesn’t mean manufacturing jobs will come back since U.S. companies will use automation to save money,” said Ms. Cheng

The Chinese are not going to mess around with Trump’s threats, they’re going to respond, and they’re going to respond where it hurts.

could mean “the end of U.S. soft power” by exposing “tendencies the world never used to associate with the U.S.: xenophobia, misogyny, pessimism and selfishness.”

Brand America is especially likely to take a battering if Trump continues with the undiplomatic pronouncements he regularly espoused during the campaign. Examples here include

his assertions in April that Washington should withdraw troops from South Korea and Japan and

allow those countries, and potentially others, including Saudi Arabia, to develop nuclear arsenals.

fly in the face of U.S. foreign policy over decades that has largely been focused on preventing nuclear weapon proliferation. So significant was the level of diplomatic concern in Japan, for instance, that both the prime minister and foreign minister responded forcefully, with the latter asserting that “it is impossible that Japan will arm itself with nuclear weapons.”

Other instances of diplomatic angst he caused in the run-up to his election include

his plans for building a border wall with Mexico (http://europe.newsweek.com/texas-mexico-border-fence-trump-wall-527379) (which he claims the Mexican government will pay for); and

a proposed ban on all Muslims entering the United States (a commitment he has since backtracked from).

there is likely to be a spike again in anti-U.S. sentiment in at least some key countries, for the first time since George W. Bush’s presidency.

This could undercut much of the work that President Barack Obama has undertaken to turn around the climate of perception about the country in the last eight years.

the “Obama effect” was estimated to have raised the value of “Brand America” by $2.1 trillion in the first year of his presidency alone.

Russia was the only state where Trump bested Clinton.

Taken overall, Trump has potential to be one of the least popular U.S. president ever overseas. While Brand America has rebounded under Obama, there are now significant downside risks for the U.S. reputation overseas should the new president-elect return to the sometimes wild rhetoric and controversial policy positions of his campaign.

Donald Trump wants a record crowd for his inauguration — but he may be disappointed

"Let's set the all time record!" tweeted the president-elect. :lol

But planners who are gearing up for the big day predict that Trump will fall way short of his goal: They're estimating a crowd of roughly 800,000, fewer than half the 1.8 million people who attended President Barack Obama's first inauguration in 2009.

"It's not even close to a record," said Jim Bendat, a California expert on presidential inauguration history, who wrote a book on the subject.

After a bitter election, Trump is headed for the White House with only 48 percent of Americans approving of the way he's handled his presidential transition.

Trump has had a tough time lining up A-list talent to perform, most recently when Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli backed out this week after his fans complained.

Trump repeating some behaviors he criticized in Clinton

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump spent the past two years attacking rival Hillary Clinton as crooked, corrupt, and weak.
But some of those attacks seem to have already slipped into the history books.

From installing Wall Street executives in his Cabinet to avoiding news conferences, the president-elect is adopting some of the same behavior for which he criticized Clinton during their fiery presidential campaign.

Here’s a look at what Trump said then — and what he’s doing now:
___

GOLDMAN SACHS

Then: “I know the guys at Goldman Sachs,” Trump said at a South Carolina rally in February, when he was locked in a fierce primary battle with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. “They have total, total control over him. Just like they have total control over Hillary Clinton.”

Now: A number of former employees of the Wall Street bank will pay a key role in crafting Trump’s economic policy. He’s tapped Goldman Sachs president Gary Cohn to lead the White House National Economic Council. Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury secretary nominee, spent 17 years working at Goldman Sachs and Steve Bannon, Trump’s chief strategist and senior counselor, started his career as an investment banker at the firm.

Trump is following in a long political tradition, though one he derided on the campaign trail: If Cohn accepts the nomination, he’ll be the third Goldman executive to run the NEC.
___

BIG DONORS
Then: “Crooked Hillary. Look, can you imagine another four years of the Clintons? Seriously. It’s time to move on. And she’s totally controlled by Wall Street and all these people that gave her millions,” Trump said at a May rally in Lynden, Washington.

Now: Trump has stocked his Cabinet with six top donors — far more than any recent White House. “I want people that made a fortune. Because now they’re negotiating with you, OK?” Trump said, in a December 9 speech in Des Moines.

The biggest giver? Linda McMahon, incoming small business administrator, gave $7.5 million to a super PAC backing Trump, more than a third of the money collected by the political action committee.
___
NEWS CONFERENCES

Then: “She doesn’t do news conferences, because she can’t,” Trump said at an August rally in Ashburn, Virginia. “She’s so dishonest she doesn’t want people peppering her with questions.”

Now: Trump opened his last news conference on July 27, saying: “You know, I put myself through your news conferences often, not that it’s fun.”

He hasn’t held one since.

Trump skipped the news conference a president-elect typically gives after winning the White House. Instead, he released a YouTube video of under three minutes. He also recently abruptly canceled plans to hold his first post-election news conference, opting instead to describe his plans for managing his businesses in tweets. “I will hold a press conference in the near future to discuss the business, Cabinet picks and all other topics of interest. Busy times!” he tweeted in mid-December.
___

FAMILY TIES:

Then: “It is impossible to figure out where the Clinton Foundation (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/the-inside-story-of-how-the-clintons-built-a-2-billion-global-empire/2015/06/02/b6eab638-0957-11e5-a7ad-b430fc1d3f5c_story.html?tid=a_inl) ends and the State Department begins. It is now abundantly clear that the Clintons set up a business to profit from public office. They sold access and specific actions by and really for I guess the making of large amounts of money,” Trump said at an August rally in Austin.

Now: While Trump has promised to separate himself from his businesses, there is plenty of overlap between his enterprises and his immediate family.

His companies will be run by his sons, Donald Jr and Eric. And his daughter, Ivanka, and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, have joined Trump at a number of meetings with world leaders of countries where the family has financial interests.

In a financial disclosure he was required to file during the campaign, Trump listed stakes in about 500 companies in at least 25 countries.

Ivanka, in particular, has been caught making early efforts to leverage her father’s new position into profits. After an interview with the family appeared on “60 Minutes,” her jewelry company, Ivanka Trump (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/ivanka-trump-the-anti-donald-works-to-protect-the-billion-dollar-brand/2016/03/27/49613d2c-cb48-11e5-a7b2-5a2f824b02c9_story.html?tid=a_inl) Fine Jewelry, blasted out an email promoting the $10,800 gold bangle bracelet that she had worn during the appearance. The company later said they were “proactively discussing new policies and procedures.”

Ivanka is also auctioning off a private coffee meeting with her to benefit her brother’s foundation. The meeting is valued at $50,000, with the current top bid coming in at $25,000.

“United States Secret Service will be Present for the Duration of the Experience,” warns the auction site.

CLINTON INVESTIGATIONS

Then: “If I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation, because there has never been so many lies, so much deception. There has never been anything like it, and we’re going to have a special prosecutor,” Trump said in the October presidential debate, referring to Clinton.

Now: Since winning office, Trump has said he has no intention of pushing for an investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of state or the workings of her family foundation. “It’s just not something that I feel very strongly about,” he told the New York Times.

“She went through a lot. And suffered greatly in many different ways,” he said. “I’m not looking to hurt them.”:lol

Trump on Saturday said he would dissolve his charitable foundation amid efforts to eliminate any conflicts of interest before he takes office next month.

Trash Taps His Race-Baiting Propagandist To Write Inauguration Speech (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/12/26/1614612/-Trump-Taps-His-Race-Baiting-Propagandist-To-Write-Inauguration-Speech)

Stephen Miller, who now carries the title of Trump’s “Senior Advisor,” wrote most of Trump’s speeches during the campaign, including his infamous nomination acceptance speech, the one in which Trump channeled some of his most his most authoritarian, apocalyptic rhetoric, such as this somber warning:

I have a message for all of you: the crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end. Beginning on January 20th 2017, safety will be restored.

The consistent feature of the speech was its effort

to divide Americans and place blame for economic and social problems on ever-conspiring “enemies,” both internal and external —

it was loaded with the same unsubtle dog whistles and undertones of the racism and bigotry his supporters so fervently responded to on the campaign trail. Many (http://www.newyorker.com/news/john-cassidy/donald-trumps-dark-dark-convention-speech)compared the speech to those of Nixon, others (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jul/22/donald-trump-speech-republican-national-convention)compared it to Hitler.

Today it was announced (http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/trump-miller-inauguration-speech-232967) that Miller will be authoring Trump’s inauguration speech:

The choice of Miller, the 31-year-old who wrote most of Trump’s major prepared speeches in 2016, including his Republican national convention address that was criticized as overly dark, is of no surprise to Trump insiders.

Miller played an unusually multi-faceted role on the campaign: a behind-the-scenes policy adviser, Trump’s chief speechwriter and a speech-giver himself, becoming a skinny-tie-wearing fixture over the summer at Trump rallies as a warm-up act.

Charlie Sykes did not pull any punches as he alluded to Donald Trump's defective thinking process and excoriated his unpresidential tweeting in the excerpted video (https://egbertowillies.com/2016/12/27/donald-trump-intelligence-belittled/).

"It seems like the stock market in other parts of the world are going to have to learn to in effect devalue Trump tweets," Lawrence O'Donnell said. "That they have no real meaning. I mean, for example, he attacks Boeing one day and the stock drops a bit during the day. Then he comes back and praises Boeing and attacks another competitor of Boeing and drives that stock down."
Charlie Sykes' response did not disappoint. He hit the nail on the head.

"You just don't know, " Conservative Republican radio host Charlie Sykes said. "I mean, when does this jump the shark? I mean also, this is going to encapsulate, and this is really going to symbolize the quality of this man's thought. I mean,

But Trump was asked to elaborate on that tweet and ended up saying that the transition is actually going “very smoothly.”

Earlier today incoming Press Secretary Sean Spicer had some positive words for the Obama team on how the transition is going too (http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/trump-accuses-obama-inflammatory-roadblocks-white-house-transition/), though it’s clear Team Trump isn’t particularly happy about Obama’s swipe at his successor.

2. Taking credit for jobs he absolutely did not create.

3. Suggesting everyone move on about the Russian hacking thing :lol since computers are so complicated.

4. Saying his whole business conflict-of-interest thing is actually very very simple.

He basically replied that first of all, his business is very very big, much bigger than anyone really knew.

Then he said that it is "very routine," and not big deal, and that "it's not as big a deal as you people are making it seem."

Then he pointed out that people knew he had these businesses when they elected him, and they elected him anyway, maybe even because of that.

Then he said he'd have a press conference in early January to announce his plans for what he will do about his very big and successful business that is really not a big deal and is very routine.

Evangelicals slam Trump for inviting prosperity gospel ‘heretic’ Paula White to pray at inauguration

A true Woman Of God :lol Trash thinks she's pussy-grabbable

Paula White, senior pastor of New Destiny Christian Center, will join Franklin Graham, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Rabbi Marvin Hier and other religious leaders in the Jan. 20 inauguration — but her participation has proved controversial

“I’d rather a Hindu pray on Inauguration Day and not risk the souls of men, than one whose heresy lures in souls with promises of comfort only to damn them in eternity,”

White and her Florida church have been investigated (https://www.onfaith.co/onfaith/2011/01/09/what-is-church-who-is-minister-should-tax-man-decide/660) by the U.S. Senate for operating a scam, based on the prosperity gospel’s defining principle — that followers who donate money, or a “seed,” to the church will see their investment returned many times over. :lol :lol

“Paula White is a charlatan and recognized as a heretic by every orthodox Christian, of whatever tribe,”

White, who is the third wife of Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain — also her third spouse — takes in up to $80,000 a week, according to a 2007 report by the Tampa Tribune, and owns (http://www.orlandomagazine.com/Orlando-Magazine/May-2012/Holy-High-Roller/) multimillion-dollar homes in Trump Tower and Florida.

“Paula White has a

long history of bankruptcies,

failed business ventures, and

unsuccessful marriages,

which makes her the perfect choice to deliver a prayer on behalf a president-elect who has proudly proclaimed that he’s never felt the need to ask forgiveness from God for anything,” :lol

Another person analyzing, hypothesizing about Trash's financials

Trump's Poor. And Putin knows it.

Trump is not only, “not a billionaire,” he carries so much debt that, relative to his hard assets,

he’s poor, especially with respect to cash flow through cash intensive investments such as resorts, etc,

where one has to pay large monthly bills to keep the lights on and the greens, well — green. In any given quarter,

Trump faces situations where he doesn’t have the cash to keep up “appearances” and must borrow cash, at whatever rate,

to maintain the cloak of worth, I mean wealth ...I mean, the wealth that makes up his self-worth.

1. We know that he promised to “self-fund” his campaign, and yet not only did he not “self-fund” it, he charged HUGE fees to his campaign to use Trump property. We also know that he never had anywhere near enough campaign money. From the beginning, the “Billionaire” had the “poorest” campaign.

2. He promised to donate all that money made in one evening to veterans groups, and had not done so when checked-in on, months later. (This is part of the larger pattern, a “Foundation” that he never paid money into, and hadn’t paid a lot of real money out of, one under criminal investigation. Most true billionaires have real foundations with real people who really help various causes because it helps business. It’s more polite to be worth billions if one can point to the appearance of “doing good” and yet Trump can’t even do that).

3. Upon winning the presidency, one of the first things he did was set up cash cow, meet/greets with his sons and various other tawdry behavior.

4. Even as President-Fucking-Elect he sells tickets to his New Years Eve (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-tickets-new-years-eve-party_us_5866b17ce4b0eb5864894d62) party. Yet another potential conflict boil-up.

5. We know he took risks that could get a guy thrown in jail — paying off the Florida Attorney General $20,000 to drop the investigation into his Trump U and when he did it, he did so in yet another way that could get a guy thrown in jail — having his "charity" pay for it. (http://fortune.com/2016/09/12/trump-foundation-bondi-florida-ag/)

6. By the way, just what the fuck is a “billionaire international real estate developer” doing even setting up something as stupid as a “U” to begin with? Never mind “Trump Steaks" - Unless one simply needs easy cash?

My point is,

at every single point where he could have simply made his life easier by “not charging” or “avoiding a conflict” or “staying out of jail,” he’s gone with the move that carried the most risk but picked up five figures, over and over.

No, I don’t think it all can be blamed on being short-fingered.

Which leads to two relevant questions. Speculation.

What if, the real reason that Trump can’t “divest” himself of his business interests is because “divestment” would leave bare that he still owes more money than he has? He’s insolvent.

What if he’s willing to put up with dancing the “Presidents can’t have conflicts” line because

the alternative is “My debts outweigh my assets. I’m not rich, once one has stripped away the 757 and gold toilet, and I’m not willing to do that.”

Trump takes ruinous risks, monthly, to pick up $10K here or $20K there.
He has to. He’s poor.

And Putin knows it, and can prove it.

I’m speculating. Our President-Elect is free to “prove” me wrong.

Trump Humiliates Billionaire David Koch By Throwing His Guest Off Trump Golf Course. (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/1/1/1616133/-Trump-Humiliates-Billionaire-David-Koch-By-Throwing-Him-His-Guest-Off-Trump-Golf-Course)

http://images.dailykos.com/images/292628/story_image/donald-trump-menie-estate-scotland.jpg?1472328105

So this past Friday, Trump threw a guest of billionaire Industrialist David Koch off Trump’s West Palm Beach Golf Club.

Koch’s guest, Harry Hurt III who’d written an unflattering bio of Trump, walked over to Trump and congratulated him on winning the election.

Trump’s reaction was to have his private security goons ‘escort’ Hurt out to the parking lot.

Updating- Koch decided to leave with his guests.

Trump just dissed David Koch, a REAL billionaire who isn’t in debt to Russian oligarchs and Putin.

TRUMP BOOTS AUTHOR FROM GOLF COURSE

Donald Trump personally booted the author of an unflattering biography off Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach on Friday.

Harry Hurt III, who penned the 1993 biography, Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump,

had come to play with billionaire industrialist David. H. Koch, a Trump club member, and two other golfers. Hurt, who has a scratch handicap and plays in colorful knickers, walked over to Trump on the practice range prior to his group’s assigned tee time, only to suffer a tongue lashing from the president-elect.

“I said, ‘Congratulations, sir,’ and shook his hand,” Hurt recalls.

“Trump said, ‘You were rough on me, Harry. Really rough. That shit you wrote.’”

Hurt says he looked Trump in the eye, and said, “It’s all true,”

to which Trump rejoined, “Not in the way you wrote it.”

Among the juicy tidbits in Hurt’s tome was Ivana Trump’s allegation in a sworn deposition that Trump had “raped” her during their divorce battle.

Trump told Hurt it was “inappropriate” for him to play at the club, and had his security detail escort Hurt, Koch, and their playing partners to the parking lot.

“David was appalled,” says Hurt. “He branded Trump ‘petty’ and vulgar.’ We played Emerald Dunes instead, which is a much, much better golf course than Trump International.”

President-elect Donald Trump dramatically strong-armed House Republicans into line Tuesday in his first Washington power play, after they voted to gut an ethics watchdog in a manner that undercut his vow to drain the establishment "swamp."

Trump made clear his anger at the move on his Twitter account, and GOP lawmakers hurriedly changed plans to target the independent panel, backing down in a controversy that threatened to overshadow the dawn of a new conservative era in Washington.

Trump celebrates new year with convicted felon

A new video raises questions about President-elect Donald Trump's relationship with Joseph "Joey No Socks" Cinque, who once reportedly survived a mob hit and was associated with the infamous mob boss John Gotti.

The video shows Trump ringing in the new year on stage with Cinque at his Mar-a-Lago hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. The Secret Service told CNN everyone who attended the party was subject to screening via a metal detector.

Cinque was convicted in 1989 of criminal possession of stolen art, a felony. He was sentenced to "conditional discharge" in 1990, according to records provided by a New York Supreme Court clerk. CNN was told the actual indictment was destroyed in a fire.

Cinque did not serve jail time. While there is no record of how long the conditional discharge sentence lasted, a lack of further court records in the case indicates that he did not violate the discharge, the clerk told CNN.

In a 1995 profile in New York magazine, Cinque noted his former friendship (https://books.google.com/books?id=UOMCAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA44&dq=new+york+magazine+joe+cinque&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjE14Lv-tTMAhVG2T4KHe-wAHUQ6AEIHTAA#v=onepage&q=new%20york%20magazine%20joe%20cinque&f=false) with Gotti. The article also reported Cinque was "shot three times and left for dead" in a 1980 incident he called a "robbery," while "officials" described as "more likely a hit." The article also detailed Gotti's criminal record.

This is an invaluable service provided by Mr. Trump, and these meetings will be as frequent and as thorough as necessary to ensure the urgent information that Mr. Trump has gathered reaches those in our intelligence community.http://www.theonion.com/article/trump-gives-intelligence-agencies-their-daily-brie-54961

HEALTH SCARE SCRATCHES CHARLES MANSON FROM TRUMP’S LIST OF SUPREME COURT PICKS

http://www.newyorker.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Borowitz-HealthScareScratchesMansonfromTrumpsListofSupremeC ourtPicks-600.jpg

NEW YORK — Amid reports that Charles Manson is ill, the Donald Trump transition team has removed his name from its list of potential Supreme Court nominees.

For President-elect Trump, the development was a serious setback, since

Manson had reportedly topped the short list of Supreme Court picks since his name was first floated last December.

At that time, Trump said that

Manson’s extensive experience with the judiciary made him uniquely qualified to “shake up the Supreme Court.”

On CNN, on Wednesday, Trump’s adviser

Kellyanne Conway wished Manson a speedy recovery but acknowledged that losing him as a potential Court pick was a significant blow.

“We’re moving on, of course, but

this is very disappointing,” she said. “There’s only one Charles Manson.”

Trump To Abandon Campaign Promise And Ask Taxpayers To Fund His Border Wall

One of Trump's first acts as president will be showing his supporters that he was just playing them for suckers. Will they notice?

Trump lets Mexico off the hook? House GOP officials say Trump will ask Congress to pay for building the wall. http://cnn.it/2hWGvp4 (https://t.co/bRA4OZeVvV)

In other words, taxpayers – not the Mexican government, as Trump repeatedly said during the campaign – will be paying for the president-elect’s monumental waste of money along the southern border.

According to the CNN report (http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/05/politics/border-wall-house-republicans-donald-trump-taxpayers/), the process of funding the border wall may begin as early as April and could be done without even having to pass a new bill.More from CNN:

The Trump team argues it will have the authority through a Bush-era 2006 law to build the wall, lawmakers say, but it lacks the money to do so.

Transition officials have told House GOP leaders in private meetings they’d like to pay for the wall in the funding bill,

Red State Voters Want Democrats to Block Trash's Agenda (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/1/6/1617625/-Red-State-Voters-Want-Democrats-to-Block-Trump-s-Agenda)

A new poll finds

majorities in red and purple states who want their Democratic senators to be a "check and balance"

to Republican President-elect Donald Trump (http://thehill.com/people/donald-trump).

The poll, conducted for the progressive Center for American Progress and published by The Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/01/04/poll-voters-in-trump-states-want-democrats-to-keep-him-in-check/?utm_term=.2df6aafbc445), found that between 56 percent and 61 percent of voters in those states want their Democratic senator to be a "check and balance" to Trump.

"Even in states that Trump won handily, Democrats are in a good position," the organization's president, Neera Tanden, told the newspaper.

"Eight years ago, if you asked this question, people were much more inclined to say that everyone should get along. Here,

you've got people who voted for Trump but want Democrats to block or oppose his agenda. :lol

That seems to be a new thing for American politics."

When asked if they would "replace Medicare with private insurance for seniors that costs two thousand dollars more per year on average," 77 percent of respondents said "no."

Seventy-two percent said they would not "cut funding for Medicaid, which states use to provide health coverage for low-income individuals and for nursing home care for seniors and the disabled."

Tanden noted the "big cleavage in the coalition that voted for Trump."

"He won traditional Republicans, but

his victory margin came from people who didn't vote Republican before and don't support the party now. That's unique,"

she said. "It also

suggests that the election was not a mandate for a right-wing agenda,

and right now, Trump's misreading that with his Cabinet picks."

How funding Donald Trump’s border wall could go south real quickly for Republicans

Trump has estimated (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/02/11/even-trumps-incredibly-low-price-tag-for-his-border-wall-would-be-a-huge-portion-of-the-mexican-economy/) his wall would cost $8 billion. The Post's team of nonpartisan fact checkers concluded (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2016/02/11/trumps-dubious-claim-that-his-border-wall-would-cost-8-billion/) that's an extraordinarily low number; it would likely cost $2 billion for just the raw materials. No one has exact figures, but one top construction analyst told our fact-checkers the entire wall could cost $25 billion.

Budget experts say it's not clear where money like that would come from right now.

You could technically take money from already appropriated border security funds to pay for the wall, but those funds are nowhere near enough:

The government is spending an estimated (http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/trump-s-wall-would-add-billions-u-s-spends-border-n640251) $4 billion a year on border security.

And we should note a 2013 proposal that suggested spending $46 billion on border security over the next decade failed to pass Congress.

Republicans could raise taxes to pay for it — but that would put them in the awkward position of asking the American taxpayers to contribute more money for a border wall Trump has promised they wouldn't have to pay for.

How to Know What Donald Trump Really
Cares About: Look at What He’s Insulting

Over the last 11 months, my colleague Jasmine C. Lee and I have read, tagged and sorted (http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/01/28/upshot/donald-trump-twitter-insults.html) more than 14,000 tweets. We’ve found that about one in every nine was an insult of some kind.

has helped reveal a clear pattern – one that has not changed much in the weeks since Mr. Trump’s victory.

First, Mr. Trump likes to identify a couple of chief enemies and attack them until they are no longer threatening enough to interest him. He hurls insults at these foils relentlessly, for sustained periods – weeks or months. Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Hillary Clinton have all held Mr. Trump’s attention in this way; nearly one in every three insults in the last two years has been directed at them.

If Mr. Trump continues to use Twitter as president the way he did as a candidate, we may see new chief antagonists: probably Democratic leaders, perhaps Republican leaders in Congress and possibly even foreign countries and their leaders. For now, the news media – like CNN and The New York Times – is starting to fill that role. The chart at the top of this page illustrates this story very clearly.

Second, there’s a nearly constant stream of insults in the background directed at a wider range of subjects. These insults can be a response to a news event, unfavorable media coverage (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/714807977052610569) or criticism, or they can simply be a random thought (https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/673667868261752833?lang=en). These subjects receive short bursts of attention, and inevitably Mr. Trump turns to other things in a day or two. Mr. Trump’s brief feuds with Macy’s (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/616624633312354304), Elizabeth Warren (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/754530019200884737), John McCain (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/622469784278564864) and The New Hampshire Union Leader (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/682413776600174592) fit this bucket well. The election has not changed this pattern either.

The charts below show these bursts for the 50 people, places or things Mr. Trump has targeted most.

Mr. Trump frequently insulted journalists and media organizations even before he was a serious presidential candidate. Early on, Mr. Trump focused on conservative publications and commentators who stood against him: Bill Kristol, George Will, Glenn Beck, Charles Krauthammer, Stuart Stevens.

As the campaign progressed and media scrutiny increased, Mr. Trump focused on the larger news organizations and the national press, particularly after coverage critical of him. One particularly big insult campaign began in the days after a New York Times article about his behavior toward women (https://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/15/us/politics/donald-trump-women.html).

‘Follow the money’: Robert Reich explains exactly why Trump won’t condemn Russia

the former labor secretary said that not only did the Russians influence the election, but Trump’s deep financial ties to the country — along with those of his close aides — will dictate how his administration deals with Russia no matter what it may cost the U.S.

Reich began by noting that Trump came to the defense of Russia less than 24 hours after intelligence officials explicitly told him that Russian President Vladimir Putin directed his people to influence the election.

“Over the years, Russian oligarchs, friends of Putin, have financed Trump’s projects and lent billions of dollars to Trump’s enterprises.

In 2008, Donald Trump Jr., told a real estate conference

‘Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets,’ and continued, ‘we see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.’”

“Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, a longtime consultant to Viktor Yanukovich, the Russian-backed president of Ukraine who was overthrown in 2014, has done multi-million-dollar business deals with Russian oligarchs.

Also: Trump’s pick for Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, CEO of ExxonMobil, came up through the ranks at Exxon by managing the company’s Russia account.”

Trump’s Tweets Are a New Form of Governing by Edict

Trump’s tweets are a new form of governing by edict. They’re tweedicts.

Incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer says (http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z=http%3A%2F%2Fthehill.com%2Fhomenews%2Fa dministration%2F312775-spicer-trumps-tweets-drive-the-news&t=NDg0MDZhNzljZWJlMDM0NTVkMWJiNDZmMjhjMTYwMzY5MzUw MTcxNixycHg2clZIaQ%3D%3D&b=t%3AhQ9Ds4P3Iv6D7mgEr8WMqg&p=http%3A%2F%2Frobertreich.org%2Fpost%2F1554552629 35&m=1) “Whatever he tweets, he is going to drive the news.”

That’s the problem. In driving the news, Trump’s tweedicts gain the power of implied threats – that he’ll, for example,

sanction a particular company (Ford, General Motors, Carrier, or Boeing);

unilaterally alter foreign policy (recognize Taiwan,

encourage Israel to expand on the West Bank,

not back NATO against Russian aggression);

unleash his angry followers on a particular critic (a local union leader in Michigan, a teenage girl in New Hampshire, a TV news host);

cause customers or readers to boycott a media outlet (CNN, the Arizona Republican, Saturday Night Live, the cast of Hamilton); or

impose high political costs on Republican members of Congress (for pursuing an investigation against Russia, gutting an ethics office).

The United States is supposed to be a government of laws, not of edicts.

Yet Trump’s tweets are gaining power even though they aren’t legislation.

They aren’t executive orders (which can be reviewed and overturned by courts).

They aren’t even the statements of a president using his “bully pulpit” to make a general point, because they single out particular companies and people.

They are arbitrary and capricious, reflecting the daily whims of Donald Trump. man on the can :lol

The media argue that the thoughts of a president-elect are “inherently newsworthy (http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2016%2F1 1%2F29%2Fbusiness%2Fmedia%2Fif-trump-tweets-it-is-it-news-a-quandary-for-the-news-media.html%3F_r%3D0&t=MmI0MjA4ZDZiMDA0YjA0NmQ2YTAyNzJhYjVkYTgzNzZkZjUx NGExOSxycHg2clZIaQ%3D%3D&b=t%3AhQ9Ds4P3Iv6D7mgEr8WMqg&p=http%3A%2F%2Frobertreich.org%2Fpost%2F1554552629 35&m=1).”

Rubbish.

They’re newsworthy only because they drive the news.

And they drive the news only because they’re considered by the media to be newsworthy.

That tautology can turn into a vicious cycle leading to tyranny.

The media should pay less attention what Trump is tweeting and more attention to what Trump is actually doing.

Donald Trump’s Twitter Account Is A Security Disaster Waiting To Happen

With no known special security protections, realDonaldTrump could be exploited for financial gain, to cause geopolitical instability, or worse.

Donald J. Trump (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump)
(https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump)&#10004 realDonaldTrump (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump)

My Twitter has been seriously hacked--- and we are looking for the perpetrators.
11:00 AM - 21 Feb 2013 (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/304636780903288834)

Trump’s newfound influence — combined with the unpredictability of his tweets — makes the president-elect’s account a particularly tempting target for hackers.

That’s especially true because there is a large fortune that could be made in a single 140-character message.

If someone were able to gain access to Trump’s Twitter, they could tweet approvingly or disapprovingly about a company (as Trump has done) and play the stock market accordingly — or cause others to do so.

A market-tracking app called Trigger has already set up (https://medium.com/trigger-finance/trump-triggers-9455b838044a#.f6leoguy9) an alert that responds whenever Trump tweets about publicly traded companies.

If the hacker were geopolitically motivated, they could tweet favorably or unfavorably about a country or a leader (as Trump has done (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/814114980983427073?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)) and alter foreign affairs.

Or if the hacker had a grudge, they could call their enemy out in a tweet (as Trump has done (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/08/us/politics/donald-trump-twitter-carrier-chuck-jones.html)) and unleash the rage of Trump’s nearly 19 million followers.

Plus, who knows what’s in Trump’s DMs?

And precisely because the president-elect’s tweets are so far afield of current president Barack Obama’s on-message, workshopped ones, someone with improper access to Trump’s account could accomplish their goals while staying in character as Trump.

(A hack of the Associated Press Twitter account (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2013/04/23/syrian-hackers-claim-ap-hack-that-tipped-stock-market-by-136-billion-is-it-terrorism/?utm_term=.c3067dbb3bd0) in 2013 that falsely asserted breaking news about an explosion at the White House caused the Dow to drop 150 points.)
