So we have people flying out to California to talk a kid out of something he has wavered on.
When we can’t change his mind and he has told us he wants to stay home we must be the first to press on respect his decision.

Some kids are really just children. He gave it a shot and got homesick.
This is not like quitting summer camp.

And of course the site will keep us updated I’m hoping.
We better say something nice about the kid though.
Then it would be nice for other players to wish him the best as well.

Imo based on the idea he is a good kiddo.

If the story does have some deep dark wrong it will come forward

It sounds like someone that is looking for a reason to leave and have it justified. Totally agree, if Mehringer does his job then he will keep his job. If Mehringer doesnt then he shouldn't keep it. Nothing against the guy but this is the way life works (or should work). Wonderful talent and would probably do great things at UT, but so can Washington, Smith, Eagles, Moore, and Woodard if properly coached. Every team needs WRs, but they truly are a dime a dozen in the College football world. Another one of equal talent will come along very shortly. This will not break the program, it can make it a little bit stronger in the future, but it wont break it. A QB is a completely different story.

If he really shut himself off from everyone for 2 weeks then he has issues, and I'm talking serious mental health issues. This is about being home sick this is a serious bout of depression. He needs counseling. Worrying about Texas firing Mehringer is just an excuse, I'm guessing it's a defense mechanism because he isn't handling the change.

This isn't about football anymore, this is about getting him some help because at this pace he will never play a down of college football. Helton will be at USC for one more season and then it's more than likely going to be Urban Meyer and i can guarantee that he isn't going to put up with a cry baby attitude no matter what is causing it.

Our defense was pretty focussed on sending a message. The sound of that "pop" was so loud everyone in the stadium heard it. I want to say it was Jeff Leiding, but maybe not. Inside Texas mentioned this morning that UT is still in communication with OL Nate Anderson of Frisco Reedy and he's been receptive, but they believe the staff has someone ahead of him currently.

They didn't clarify if this has anything to do with OL Damieon George now that RB Zach Evans has eliminated Texas, and the staff has decided to focus on better prospects.

Location, coaching staff, top notch football, top notch facilities, what its’ going to be in 2021 when it’s all done – when it comes to boxes, for me as a parent, UT checked every single box. It was a pretty cool visit,” said Nathan Ransom. “We got to talk to coach (Tom) Herman, got to build on that relationship. We spent some time with coach (Craig) Naivar, really got to bound with him."

“We got in late Friday so we spent a lot of time Saturday, Sunday and Monday with (Naivar). That was well-needed. Obviously we had a great relationship with him on the phone, but to get to spend time with him in person, I really enjoyed his company. We talked where he thinks Lathan fits on the team, the vision he has for him. It was good to get a lot of personal time because it was just us and him a lot of the time, so that was big.”

“He (Coach Naivar) talked about how they have a possibility on some schemes where they have six DBs on the field. Regardless of where they have him, he’d have a good chance of being on the field. He can play up in the box, can play free, can play nickel,” Mr. Ransom said. “He just said they have a vision, with one senior graduating at safety, or once guys graduate after his first year or go to NFL, he’d have an opportunity at multiple positions. The free position could be open and they’d have two safeties fighting for that position. After that it opens up to a couple diff positions. He really just sold his vision of being able to play three different other positions, was very honest and open with him.”

“For unofficial visit, it was definitely right up there with the official visits,” Mr. Ransom said. “You can only do so much with unofficial visits. But just spending time with Lathan – he has to see you care and want him in your program. That was the first step, building that relationship with coach Naivar. Over the next couple months, he’ll continue to do that with coach Herman too.”

“We talked to Caden Sterns, spent a lot of time with him. He was awesome,” Mr. Ransom said. “He was just really honest with him. He just said ‘Hey man, come here, make this the real DBU.’ Thought that was really cool. (Lathan) hung out with him and two other safeties, but Caden was the guy who stood out, who he really, really talked to him. He even met up with the quarterback one night and said he was really nice to him and cool. To get those guys playing at that level, for them to take time to talk to a guy who is just thinking about coming, that was really cool.”

“It (training session with Coach McKnight) was intense. Talk about something I’ve never seen before on that level - that was really , really impressive,” Mr. Ransom said. “The strength coach is phenomenal. It was on another level. That game is already huge, but add in the recruits and you have a game that could be a major boost to the program moving forward.

I feel good about the game because we are catching them while they are trying to install a new offense. There is a chance we can really catch them with their pants down. I actually think it's Texas that wins going away. Impact players are going to be Jordan Whittington, Sam, Caden Sterns, and Roach. Roach is the big one as he is going to be coming at them with a chip on his shoulder. I think Orlando is going to come at them with a similar game plan to the one he had with Georgia. lots of run blitzes and make their QB prove he can pass the ball.
