On WR LV Bunkley-Shelton of Gardena, CA...Inside Texas believes the UT coaches will take him if he's wanting to commit.
He's already discussed the possibility of pulling the trigger while he's in Austin this weekend.

You hit upon something important, JQJ, Milroe, and even Card are all leaders that attract other players to want to play with them. If I'm a coach, I'm looking for those guys, they are the generals that command respect and guys naturally follow them. JQJ and Milroe could deliver us DFW and Houston in these two classes. That just blows me away.
Yeah that’s all I meant. Bc Zach Evans absolutely has the stroke to be able to get just about any of the 2020 in state linemen to follow him. But hes never said anything that shows he’s that guy. In fact, his first bullshit quality that he said a school had to have for his signature was a championship o-line. He has the leverage to build his own. He could hand pick his o-line from instate. And rather than take that opportunity, he felt the need to shit on the instate schools and hurt any chances that his teammates may have had at getting those offers. There’s isn’t a snowballs chance in hell that Bama allows Dameon George to commit there if they don’t think it’s a package deal with Evans. But what did Evans do? He literally said “Fuck bama, and fuck roll tide.” He's special. But he’s also a me-first guy to the detriment of those around him.

So does this mean Johnny Wilson is highly unlikely?

On the 2021 QBs...
24/7 is hearing that the Texas staff only wants to take one in that class, but Inside Texas wrote this morning that they wouldn't rule out Stone trying to commit to UT if Milroe is in the class before him.
Quote from 24/7:
"I think Milroe is being judged on his merits and ceiling. He’s blown away competition at several big college camps, including Alabama."
I'd almost prefer Stone go elsewhere since Milroe seems very solid and is already proving to be a great recruiter for us. I am not for a coach telling a kid he's the only one they'll pursue, but now that Jalen seems fully bought in and we have been recruiting well at this position the last few classes (including '21, obviously), I'm kind of mixed at best about even having someone as good as Stone.
Not sure if the rumors are valid regarding him, but there's some scuttle that he'd be inclined to transfer out fairly early in his career if he doesn't appear to become the starter.

Quick update on RB Ty Jordan of West Mesquite (Inside Texas):
“(Texas) is still interested and they showed me where I’d fit in their system,” Jordan said. "Everything else is good on my end, mostly. Just getting ready for the season.”
“I will,” Jordan said about an official to Texas. “I’ll probably get that set up within the next month. Probably going come to the LSU game, then OV two weekends later (for Oklahoma State).”

I think most sources agree with your take on Stone being a little bit more of a selfish guy. And I think there are a few out there that would agree he’s very talented but that he doesn’t face the competition that Milroe, JQJ, and Card do. I think he has a live arm. Beyond that, he doesn’t really quite fit the offense. I’d rather have any of the QBs currently committed to us, as well as maybe one or two others, over Stone.

So many great offensive linemen I'm having a hard time believing we are getting all of them. Tommy and James Brockermeyer are the #1 priority, Priority #2 Savion Byrd, Priority #3 Fill in the last spot.
I was thinking about numbers this cycle. I believe that 1 or 2 spots will be left open for a couple of senior walk-ons to get scholarships. My official belief is 21 ships.

Hopefully Courtland Ford can put together a strong senior season. Coach Yancy could do wonders with his frame. Ford is essentially Shepherd’s build at 6’6” and slightly less weight in comparison at this stage in high school careers

I'd be lying if I tried to tell you where I think Logan-Redding fits within the scheme; that's not a strength of mine.
I like his film and think he's a take if we're assuming UT isn't going to hit on their priority targets.
Inside Texas mentioned in their recruiting chat today they expect the staff to be all over Logan-Redding as a fourth DL for this class, if they decide to go after a fourth.

4th and 5 podcast notes:
Interview with Hayden Connor:
Will be a recruiter for this class. Moriba Jah (aerospace engineering professor at UT) was a large reason for committing along with Milroe’s commitment. Had been leaning UT for awhile. Trip to Michigan was planned for this past weekend where he said he was looking for a reason not to commit to UT. After asking Milroe why he committed and hearing Milroe’s plans on building this class he pulled the trigger because of Milroe’s comments about “why not stay here and build it at home.”
Feels confident he can pull Bryce Foster. Has already started pitching UT’s T&F program (disc and shot) bc that is Fosters version of what the aerospace program means to Hayden. Wants Donovan Jackson and Bryce to join him as they are all very close and he’s recruiting them hard.
Rashad Samples loss:
Not too big of a loss. 3 on a scale of 1-10, 10 being a huge deal. It sucks but it’s not as big of a deal as it looks from the outside. Sample’s main job was getting UT in the door. The Dallas kids are being recruited by the coaches and not the recruiting QC guys (Carrignton, Samples, etc). Not a guy you can just give a raise to like Carrington because he wants to actually coach. Expect UT to revisit Samples as a coaching candidate in the future.
More Vernon Broughton:
Will play up and down the line. Despite his obvious gifts, he still has a lot of room to get even better just because he’s new to football (basketball player). Compared to DeMarvin Leal: Leal is more of a traditional DL guy. VB is a better athlete, more explosive. Both have great bodies for the position. VB should get a ratings bump after his Sr. film. Giles played spades with VB’s grandma and recruiting his family was just as important as recruiting him.
Van Fillinger/Oscar Giles/Alfred Collins
Van compares to Bryan Robison. Insane athlete. Very very strong. Yancy McKnight is going to have a lot to work with. First OOS recruit for the class shows we’re having more success within our border. Giles is killing it this year, expect him to get Collins on board. Will continue recruiting Princely Umanmielen and Jalen Logan Redding. Collins is the best prospect to come out of Bastrop. Collins and Princely equally talented but would take Collins because he had a higher ceiling.
Jalen Milroe:
Stone waited around too long. Expect to see Jalens stock rise even further. Great recruiter. Creates in-roads for Katy ISD (Tunmise, Bryce Foster, Hayden Connor, Campbell, etc..). Great athlete with speed and vision. Strong arm but needs mechanics work (sidearm like VY). Will easily slide into the QB room and assert himself with Beck’s refinement. Great leader. Vocal kid. Has a lot of stroke with the kids in Houston. Katy Thompkins sucked the year before Milroe got there. Went 10-3 last year with the sophomore QB.
More on Connor:
Lots of hype as early as middle school. Projects as a good tackle, great guard. Can move well, get to the second level on zone run schemes. One of the guys that you can tell DE’s hate playing against. Hayden Connor gave Marcus Stripling (former flowermound stud) the business.
Andrej Karic:
He is a true tackle prospect. Similar tape to Jake Majors. Kind of a Calvin Anderson type but bigger. Drives and buries. Depends on his strength too much right now which is okay but will need to gain weight for the next level. Trained by Donald Hawkins (former NFL, UT lineman). He’s from Bosnia.
Chad Lindberg:
Should keep recruiting him. He’s worth taking even with the 2021 talent. All signs point to the staff continuing with his recruitment and taking his commitment if he wants in. Bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush situation.

He’d be the top lineman in this 2020 class and he’s probably the 3rd best in his. Guy is a stud. That whole line class is so deep. IT compared them to this years RB class. Lots of 5 star potential.

And those lists on the first pages are a lifesaver for people who can’t spend the time to keep up.
This is THE example of how good information/opinion boards should work.

I look at it as the cliff notes of recruiting. I no longer want to spend hours on something that is ultimately and relatively meaningless nor do I enjoy weeding through pages of immature crap trying to get a nugget, I only do that when I have time to waste.

Some good stuff from IT has been posted this morning ahead of the camp but don’t know if it’s allowed to be pasted here. I’ll wait for the yay or nay. If nothing else I’ll try to get cliffs posted.

Cliffs from IT on 2020 class camp visitors.
-WR LV Bunkley Shelton: Slot WR from Cali. Possible grade risk. UT should make some huge strides this weekend in his recruitment.
-WR JJ Hester: Bigger (taller anyways) WR from Okla. Rumored commit a week or so ago but that was squashed. Wants to take all 5 OV’s before he commits but UT could probably have him if they push this weekend.
-WR Quentin Johnston: from Temple. Quiet kid. Easily the second best receiver in the state (my take).
-OL Courtland Ford: From Louisiana. Former LSU commit. Another backup plan for Lindberg.
-OL Jaylen Garth: Texas commit from PNG (Roschon’s H.S.) Maybe in attendance tonight/this weekend.
-DL Broughton: Texas commit from Houston. Everybody should be familiar with him bc he just committed. Expected tonight.
-DE Alfred Collins: Him and VB are the best d-line prospects in the state this year. UT leads but OU is pushing. Was supposed to be in Oklahoma this weekend but rumors that won’t happen.
Very interesting RB take: (note the quotations)
“We don't have a ton to base this off of, but we still feel like UT will land a five-star running back. It just seems they've made good enough inroads that something will break the staff's way like it typically does. They're in okay standing with Bijan Robinson and expect to get a visit regardless of whether or not he commits to Ohio State next week. They've done well with Robinson's family so they wouldn't necessarily have to "flip" them. If they get him back on campus at any time, and use the running backs in the manner they told him they would, this could get real interesting. Jase McClellan is another one where scheme and running back usage matters. We don't expect Ehlinger to be used as much on the ground as last year. It shouldn't be needed. That will help a lot. Again, we feel like the parent is already okay with Texas. Things with Zach Evans are as good as they've been in a while. We'd still predict Alabama or an out-of-state SEC program, but with him you just never quite know. We check on him more than we care to admit just in case we need to start that slow, loud ascent.”
-DB Jerrin Thompson: safety/nickle from Lufkin. Recent offer. Likes UT a lot. Loved getting the offer. TFB called him “violent.” Nice film. May be on campus this weekend or early next week.
.....
I’ll get the 2021 cliffs in a while.

Cliffs from IT on 2021 class:
More on Hayden Connor: IT made it seem like he was always going to come to UT regardless. A&M wasn’t top 2. Loves the space doctor at UT. Going to be a big voice for the rest of the class as far as recruiting. Connor said UT will have the #1 class. Was supposed to visit UM last weekend but Milroe kept it from happening (loved that comment. How awesome is it that we seemingly slam dunked our ‘21 QB when we could have taken Stone and made a lot of bandwagon UT recruiting fans giddy. So glad we got Milroe.)
OL Bryce Foster: Will be a UT and A&M battle. Extremely gifted. Wants to be able to participate in T&F at the next level and will be a big part of getting him aboard. The reigning NCAA shotput champion is a UT kid so that helps. Is best friends with Hayden and Jaylen so that helps. Has family from Austin pulling him in our direction so that helps. Mom is an Aggie. Brother is a PWO at a&m. Said that his fam won’t pressure him (yeah right). Absolutely loves Herb Hand. (My take is that while he very much loves UT and the idea of playing with his buddies, he’s going to be an Aggie in the end. It sucks bc he is so very talented but with the OL class next year it’s not that painful. My fav OL recruit outside of Brockermeyer. He reminds me of Kardell Thomas (2019 LSU commit). He’s so damn strong and he plays with a ton of aggression. Just a dominant force of a human being)
DE Tunmise Adeleye: Probably a Bama lean. Loves the SEC. Doesn’t like a 3-4 front. Most talented DL in the state. Texas can really make a push if we win a lot of games this year (especially the LSU game obviously bc he likes the SEC). Sees Bama as an NFL prep-school. (I just noted what I felt as the meat and potatoes of their Adeleye notes. They said much more but it sounded very “sunshine pump-ish.” They didn’t hide that he loves the SEC and Bama. UT has some positives but there is a lot of work to be done there. He’s great friends with the Katy kids though so we’ll see.)
2021 Camp visitors:
Milroe
RB Brandon Campbell of Pearland. Compare to Fozzy Whit. Likes UT a lot and we prob lead. 2nd RB type.
WR JoJo Earle of Aledo. Slot guy. Prob a UT lean. Smaller version of Jake Smith.
WR Theodore Knox of The Woodlands. Louisiana implant.
WR Latrell Neville of Fort Bend Hightower. Compared to Elijah Higgins. (Likes UT and think we can move up his list this weekend.)
TE Juan Davis of Everman. Quiet kid. Probably on commitment watch for the weekend bc the staff will probably push. They love love love him. Warehimes guy. Compared to LJ Humphrey with more size. Texas identified him early and will take his commitment.
TE Lake McRee of Lake Travis. UT commit
OL Hayden Connor of Katy. UT commit
LB Derrick Harris Jr. of New Caney. Top LB priority for Texas. Will visit on Saturday after stopping at a&m. Told IT that Texas will have the best class in ‘21.
DB Ishmael Ibraheem of Dallas Kimball. Probably the top corner in the state. UT identified early and wants him bad.
S JD Coffey III of Kennedale. Prob a UT lean early. Naivars priority. Will get a lot of attention. Whole staff wants him in this class. Compared to Jerrin Thompson with a little Xavion Alford.
ATH Billy Bowman of Denton Ryan. Projects at nickel. Extremely explosive player. Floor is at slot receiver. UT in a good spot.
Odds/ends:
Camar Wheaton has been quiet but that’s just his nature. UT still looks good there. Should visit soon. RB recruiting will be interesting bc LJ Johnson and Campbell are paying UT a lot of attention early on.

As an amateur pit chef and frequent Myrtle Beach goer, I approve this post. They love the vinegar too much.
But if you’re wanting some hog then SC is the place to be. Fam has a beach house out in Myrtle. South Carolina has a very “Texas” feel. Same types of people, very pretty scenery, amazing golf. Dabo has a lot to work with aside from the fact that he’s just a genuinely solid guy and clearly a football savant.

IT mentioned he was a Lindberg backup but I’m not sure he’s their first choice. I doubt they’d take him. I think they want a true tackle if they missed on Lindberg and that’s why they took Karic. Courtland is another tackle prospect.

Hey Floss have you seen it mentioned anywhere why they moved up the camp date? Sorry if it’s been discussed. I know the highly touted recruits rarely actually work out at these camps so it seems like they’d want them in Saturday afternoon to meet with coaches before hand. Maybe I’m just forgetting that most of these kids are still on summer break but I’d think their parents (rides) would all be working today.

If we miss on Lindberg, is Courtland Ford a take or who would be his stand-in?
Below is what Rivals wrote about him, and keep in mind this came from a mod who has covered LSU.
He's also had two knee surgeries, but I don't know the extent of those.
Basically, he was processed by the LSU staff and told to look around.
I don't see any reason why the Texas coaches would offer him before seeing his senior season, and getting OL Andrej Karic in the class now gives them the luxury of doing that or waiting to see if someone blossoms late a la OL Christian Jones or OL Isaiah Hookfin.
"He looked VERY slow off the ball at LSU camp. Not a four-star from that performance, IMO. However, it was also his first physical action since shoulder surgery. This season will be big for Ford keeping or earing back a fourth star."

Orgeron doing his best to take all DL for his defensive class.
They seriously have 6 defensive tackles committed. Are they running a 5 man DT front? Their defensive line recruiting looks like our offensive line recruiting if we ever took 5 guards in one class. Out of 22 commitments 9 play of the defensive line. 1 commitment from an offensive linemen. That is impressive, I must say.
I used to think the 85 bears with their 46 defensive was impressive, but Ogeron with his 92 defense is going to revolutionize football. Screw linebackers and safeties we only need 9 defensive linemen and 2 corners and we are going to crush college football. Who needs to waste their time with offensive linemen when all you needs is the right guy and he can block for all 5 guys. I'm telling you the genius of the Ogre is unparalleled. Next you know, he is going to be running the Annexation of Puerto Rico.

I would ask him to stay for Saturday breakfast.
I thought this kid was very interested.
I think he is. We just have to remember that this kid can barely legally drive. He thought OU and Oklahoma State were the same school a couple of months ago in an interview. He’s just now starting to discover his value as a football player. A lot of the time you see a lot of crystal balls coming from Roach, Daniel Seahorn, or EJ Holland it’s bc they just got done doing an interview where the entire focus is on their fit at UT. So I think any kid is going to give the impression that he’s highly interested. In Camar’s case I think it’s going to be hard to beat out the neg recruiting and everything else just because he’s so highly sought after but in the end he seems like a kid that wants to stay close and he’s already developed a great relationship with the staff and is best friends with Quay Davis and a few of the other Dallas kids we’re on. I’d be willing to bet that any other school recruiting Wheaton would gladly change their position among his favorites, with UT.
Edit: Him going to a&m probably helped UT’s chances if anything. He got private treatment here and was rumored to be on campus far earlier in the day than when it was actually discovered and reported. Fans on campus saw him riding around in a golf cart. A&m was dragging the Evans contingent around and was probably pretty occupied with that circus.

I make the same mistake over and over.
I seem to think the teenage male mind is rational.
Which then infuriates me further because I find myself trying to keep up with these alien thought processes. I usually want to be as far away from hormone filled teenagers as possible. Although they can be so goofy as to be highly comical if they are basically good kids.

We play a 3-4 or sometimes a 3-3-5.
I guess inside the 5 yl you need many bodies. I just thought DE types could play trench warfare and we need twice as many DE in our base defense.
Edit: The guy in the middle of the 3-4 is basically getting hit by 2 guys every play. Maybe it requires some that are needed to absorb blows and hold the line versus a guy who can beat 1, be disruptive, but can be moved. So maybe this is the thinking. A guy in the middle always takes a risk choosing a gap and getting flanked and mowed over from an angle.

Right but we don’t use traditional DE’s often. Most often we’re filling gaps or coming off the edge with LBs. Almosse is a pure DT. Plug holes and stopping the run. This kid is good. He’d push for starting time based on his film.

It was a night camp with the lights on. Mostly underclassman worked out to give coaches a look at their measurements and mobility. Well known established recruits don’t generally workout at them. They do tours and talk to coaches.

It's officially a 3-4 or 3-3 but often functions as a 4-3 with different players rotating in to give a four man front such as LB functioning as a standup DE.

Yep. Emphasis on stopping the air attack first and containing the run game by clogging the middle and expecting athletic LBs to step in and make tackles. Defensive ends don’t ordinarily have “pretty” stat lines this way which is why it’s becoming a little harder to recruit elite DE’s. Take Dorbah for example, he plays on the end with his hand down at Highland Park but will look much more like an OLB roll at UT. He’ll put his hand in the dirt on some plays but his athleticism will be used more as a containment/coverage guy.

You can see the roles assigned in the graphic below. The ends play well inside both tackles to help run support. Dorbah is a “b-backer” in Orlando’s scheme. You could look at this graphic as more of a 3-3 where Dorbah would be standing and is the “swing” player between 4-3 and 3-4. He makes a quick read on his assigned man, usually the tackle, and then either falls into a coverage zone or helps with run support depending on if the tackle run blocks or pass blocks. This is also why our ends don’t look like traditional long athletic guys. Our ends are bigger bodied.

It's situational of course and it's not just the LB. Sometimes a DT will come in for a DE and everyone shifts down filling 4-3 gaps with LB coming up on outside. I like it because it's more flexible and less predictable

I’d also like to add that there are literally hundreds of different looks you will see on game days because Orlando is much better at this than the average internet football guru. Lol. This is the gist of the idea behind the way a 3-3/3-4 defensive line looks. There’s a reason Orlando gets paid big bucks while guys like us are just trying to keep up.

Put these better skilled, very athletic kids in a good offensive system and things get very difficult for the D
There were times last year when I thought the opposing quarterback was just sitting back there not being pressured.

Thanks for this.
Im hoping to see more guys coming totally free on the sack, especially from a properly disguised 4th or 5th man.
Big 12 offenses are a pain. I liked the Georgia game with fewer surprises. Give it to an excellent running back behind a formidable O line and... stuffed. Play fake, QB under pressure, sack. We beat the crap out of them, those last 2 touchdowns required we not celebrate early. 28-7 was the actual score imo. Maybe 28-14

We check on him more than we care to admit just in case we need to start that slow, loud ascent.
Inside Texas nailed it last week on their podcast if this holds up.

Just know he is committing to Texas at some point. Herman always has a strategy with timelines, which is why kids not always commit when they make a decision.

Also from OrangeBloods, both 2021 RB Brandon Campbell (Pearland) and 2021 WR Latrell Neville (Fort Bend Hightower) should be in Austin tomorrow.
They weren't able to make it to campus this weekend.

I really hope Bijan isn't messing with my emotions to get more bang out of his announcement. If he picks Texas he will be a huge pickup and basically make this a successful recruiting cycle. We would still need to tie in a few spots, but he would be our top prize. Everyone, including me will have to take back all the mean things we said about our RB coach. Most important we can finally shut the door on Evans and his prima donna attitude.

LOL, all this talk about education and he picks Georgia? Bwhahahaha. Good for him, now if football doesn't work out he can always become the manager of a KFC. Kid could have picked Stanford and he picks Georgia. Wow.

Only thing missing would be a LB. I'd be fine with just 1. Can we flip Josh White? He'd be perfect for this defense.

2021 is moving more quickly, I don’t even know who these kids are. This is a WR take? Or defense?
edit: his 247 says WR but others say cornerback. I thought I had read he was being recruited on D, but again I can’t remember. Haven’t paid close attention to 2021.

Collins, Broughton and Redding is a pretty good dline haul, all we would need is a true nose guard like the Ox or that Titi and this will be one heck of dline. I'm willing to bet that Collins and Broughton will be up to 290 when August of 2020 rolls around.

He is an ATH right now (no set position). Nahlin thinks he is the best pound for pound player in the state for 2021. I see him more on defense than offense right now, IMO. Reminds me of Nathan Vasher.

I could see Hullaby at LB. Don't forget the JUCO's Texas brought in last year at LB. It only looks dire from the outside, while on the inside we do have some players at the position, granted lacking experience.

Everybody at IT has him as the number 2 kid in the class behind Brock. They project him at nickel/safety.

Dont forget Fillinger and Dorbah. Dorbah is more of an OLB but if we put a hand in the dirt from the b-backer spot then he’s that guy. Fillinger could prove to be a huge get. He’s extremely athletic and very strong.

This one just doesn’t hurt me in the slightest. He’d probably be passed over if we do in fact get Brock and Byrd next year. They’re already better as juniors. He’s slightly better than sophomore Hayden Connor.

also seems to be some USC buzz with Bijan. 'Course, I hope it's not that significant, but it is there.
