Wiltfong from 24/7 put in a UT crystal ball for 2021 DE Ja'Tavion Sanders of Denton Ryan.

He definitely appears to be a commitment candidate when he's in Austin this weekend.

Welcome, bud.

Honestly, I don't think much will hurt Texas' recruiting status as long as they're at least competitive and it's clearly a hard fought game.

But if they win, at the risk of sounding like a huge homer, I think the sky is the limit based on the momentum they've already established this summer.

Kids will want to commit tomorrow night if they show out, and it will allow the staff to cast a wider net for some elites.

Keep in mind this game is mostly for the 2021s and 2022s, but I wouldn't be surprised if some 2020s (both committed and uncommitted) contact the staff if they're victorious.

Damn what a game! Did a lot of bad but also a lot of good out of this game. Figure who are DB’s are maybe some of the freshman and we’ll be alright. Let’s not forget all that we replace on defense. LSU returned a lot of starters and we just gave them a run. Just tryna see some positives but losing early like this and to a high ranking opponent typically has no bearing on final outcome of season. We can’t hardly drop much in rankings with a close showing like this.

Yes I said the same thing about those opportunities very odd start to the game but I knew we were blowing some great opportunities. As for the blitz it was a freak play by Burrows there were so many hands that had a chance to get a hand on him and they just didn’t get home.

As a fan, you have to give credit to LSU for keeping their foot on our throats in the 4th. A lot of teams would have went into conservative mode, but they didn't. Texas were a hand full of plays away from winning this game.

One thing is for sure, we won't see another defense like the one we faced tonight.

Yes LSU deserves credit but so does Texas and the staff as well we were down a couple touchdowns at the half and kept battling back to within a couple point. Even the onside was very close to going our way. If we put up that kind of fight every game I can’t be mad about the outcome.

Boyce is very bad.

Sterns was very absent.

Ossai is a player.

Roughing call on Roach was BS

We must, and we will, get better. This will not be our only loss. But we are clearly better than this time last year.

I wish we could have played the old LSU offense.

So this team plays in the SEC...
Welcome to what its like playing Big 12 offenses, and, having a Big 12 offense.
I guarantee Alabama realizes they won’t be playing the same type of QB working with an ancient crappy offensive scheme. But they will also have better corners than we do currently.

Playing his ass off.

This kid is so strong. I completely missed this first game.
I feel bad, but he is going to move ahead of Ingram if they both stay healthy at this rate. K Ingram can’t see creases and even if he finds one he can’t push defenders backwards like Roschon. We have a backup. But we still could use Whittingtons lightning.

Dry heat. They didn’t realize how much liquid they were losing because the sweat evaporated so quickly and they aren’t used to that. Also, LSU’s medical/training staff failed to administer IVs at halftime and did not prepare properly with Pedialite in the days preceding.

At least a couple faked it (Harris #4) but LSU players really were dropping like flies out there.

Neither team played like DBU. Texas corners were getting beat left and right. LSU corners were just grabbing and holding when they were constantly beat, so at least they had the foresight to just basically tackle the WR when they were badly beaten.

Actually that makes a lot of sense.

The dry heat can really creep up on you, I just experienced this here in SA. Was forced to my bike ride from 1-3 pm due to time constraints. Did not have enough fluids before, but drank a ton during a tough ride. Came back and just downed 1/3 gator 2/3 water consistently. Did not pee until 5 hrs later and it was very yellow and not much. I am finally back to normal but did my kidneys no favor. Problem I have is I almost never feel light headed and rarely cramp. (It’s like putting your hand a stovetop and smelling the burning flesh before feeling it in your hand; fainting and cramping stop you before you do even more serious damage like having your heart and heat control mechanisms go awry because you don’t have enough blood volume)

The above almost never happens to me as I am used to this, but I stupidly did not prepare. In LA the humidity is so awful you are very aware of the fluid you lose as it does not evaporate and you just get soaked. And the fluid you lose just breathing hard for two hours is amazing as well in the dry heat. And I seriously don’t know if anyone on LSU faked it. Just needling because we lost.

-End fluid dissertation

Meh, I think the cramping thing is bullshit. No doubt, some 100% had injury/cramping, but I think the first instance the guy was standing, then looked at the sideline, and promptly just sat down.

And the fact that the LSU offense, Texas offense and defense all seemed to evade the cramps seems to amplify my point. We didn't lose because of the cramping stoppages, but it's annoying.

Their QB was so good and had time or made himself time and our secondary is so young... Green lost a number of 50/50 battles that became 70/30 because he jumped early or just got outmuscled. Boyce is just not around the ball. I’m not sure where Sterns was... he certainly was not a playmaker.

The pros look at you defending on 40 passes a game before they do when you look good on 3rd and 10 because the other team does not RPO spread and you know the play is gonna be one of two things.

I also thought Ehlinger was off on his accuracy on numerous occasions and it aided our tough catches as we were covered, or got PI. Then on other occasions he absolutely threw the ball pinpoint just above defenders hands the ball getting perfectly to the receiver with their defender being sight blocked by their. Own teams body parts (I did not even think the ball should have been thrown)

Their corners are way ahead of ours imo.

agree... but I think Whittington will be the best RB this year if he can get healthy. Roschon didnt look timid guessing where the seams might be, which is the hallmark of a potentially good RB. You cant pick that up in a week; it has to be a natural gift. Ingram was surprisingly timid looking and got caught jitterbugin' behind the lines a couple of times. The game should not have been too big for him after last year and if Drayton has been working with Ingram since last year, you'd think he wouldnt look so average; he should have been a highlight.

Agree with every point and have this one thought.

We were two first half plays away from a 14 point swing in the first half.

1. Ingram catches the 4th down pass.
2. The pass before Burrow tosses the last TD of the 1st half He should have been intercepted by Brandon Jones. Those two plays turn the first half from 20-7 to 13-14 game.

it might not feel it, but we won the 2nd half. If LSU is the #4 team, and I actually think they are a top 3 team very much ahead of Georgia, They Texas right now is a top 5 team right behind them. And of all the teams a head of us, none of them have the growth potential our defense has. We have some good defensive players, but we need them to grow up. Offensively, once we get healthy our offense is right there with Oklahoma, LSU and Bama, I'm not sure where Clemson is right now, but you have to think they are also right up there.

I don't see another team in the Big 12 close to Texas, Oklahoma is a great offense, but they are not a great defense. I'm confident our offense can out score their offense.

Yes I kept wondering why Roschon was in so much in place of Ingram rep after rep there for a bit. I can understand being a little tore up about not making a play but to the point where you can no longer compete is extreme. He had a lot of game to correct it. Hopefully he can keep his head right.

And the ATM game was not as close as the score.
They dominated and then sat back.
Mond looked perfectly awful. They had some open receivers.

I need to look at it again, but I think ESPN has Clemson at an 85%+ chance of winning for each of their remaining games.

clemson is great but their lack of a competitive schedule may come back to bite them on the ass.

wisconsin may have something to say about the big X before it's all said and done but, even though it's very early, i think that OSU will be in the playoffs, along with bama, clemson and who knows about that 4th team (LSU, Georgia, big XII title winner-OU or UT?).

As UT fans we look at Maryland and ask wtf?

It won't. The people voting in these polls dont care.

If they cared, they would penalize teams for having soft schedules, which they dont.

Like you said, it may not matter, but the bright side for other teams trying to make the playoff is a Clemson loss should eliminate them from contention if the voters use any logic.

From what I've read Ingram is extremely hard on himself. I love that he cares so much but yeah he needs to just let it go and move on to the next play. It's a long season.

Aggy lost a bunch on offense and it's showing early in the season. That TE and RB they had last year were pretty legit.

Clemson playing Mack at UNC looks to be their toughest remaining test until the ACC championship...

Yeah that RB was just hard, he wore Teams out.
And the TE seemed to always find separation and open spots.
Definitely helps any QB.

I'm not going to post all of the quotes, but just know the overall recruit experience went as well it could have with the team taking a loss.

Almost all of them raved about the atmosphere and how good the team looked.

Good to hear. I feel like our roster is a year away from being like the LSU team we just played. We'll be the team with a bunch of returning starters next year while they'll be replacing a lot of key guys.

The Oklahoma State game is a must-win IMO. We can't lose to them again. An Auburn win over a&m plus us beating the Cowboys next Saturday could be big.

yeah, i think it's an easy sell to the players that the team is on the rise and that with their additions they get to the next level. of course, some of this may depend on how the rest of the season plays out.

Per Rivals, this weekend's visit for the LSU game had a "monster impact" on five-star 2021 RB Camar Wheaton of Garland Lakview Centennial.

He was definitely concerned when Coach Samples departed for SMU, but Texas did a great job of smoothing over any concerns he had.

He wants to make an early decision.

Quick announcement and don't want to make a big deal about it, but y'all are my boys (and girls) so I'm letting you know what's up.

Some of y'all have reached out to me over the years requesting that I take advantage of social media or do something of my own, so I decided to take the plunge this weekend by building up my follows and putting out a lot of the information you see on here regularly.

If you don't like Twitter, that's fine, as I won't be posting any of the insider nuggets on there since I don't feel it's my place to do so. I promise everything here will remain as is and no info will be missed.

For those of you who do like Twitter and use it daily, I'm open to recommendations of what you'd like to see as I'm not totally sure what direction I want to go. Either way, maybe this well help you get some of your news stories a bit faster.

Please scroll through my timeline from this weekend so you can see what I've done so far.

Any questions or concerns, let me know.

It’s bizarre when the LSU defense cramps 13 times in a game but their offense didn’t “cramp” once. Pretty sure Florida cramped a ton against A&M a few years back to slow down Manziel

I don’t do twitter as precautionary behavior. I might follow too much.

What you do on here is just perfect for myself. (And because you are a good guy as well as funny.) I hope your place on this site is long-standing. The example you have set for information and decorum is admirable. It sets a tone that other really good posters can follow. Texas4ever being a great example (sorry if I left anyone out). The Mex and others can throw in some gems as well.

We have had a number of really lean years. It’s very tough with the expectations laid down by our past to remain a fan but many have stayed the course, just hoping we can get some of the glory back again. It might never happen, but the ride is worth it.

I think I may cry.
But No. Only my lip quivers.

It feels so good to physically maul a team like we did to Georgia. I want more of that. It’s a drug.

Let’s stay healthy.
