Damn, he's a recruiting juggernaut.

I'm going to try that approach at the bar

Yo, drop ya panties!!! It's fool proof.

My first thought at this is that they may know each other from football camps or trainers being both Dallas area guys. More so than Deshon throwing at the wall to see what sticks. Who knows?

Update on 2021 WR Quay Davis of Dallas Skyline (24/7):

“It’s a blessing to get an offer from Texas,” Davis said. “I’ve been waiting on Texas for a long time. I love Texas. They show you a lot of love. The fans, oh my god. The crowd was crazy when I went to their game.”

“I had fun (at Junior Day),” Davis said. “I had a great time. I met all the coaches. We had a lot of stuff going on. We saw the plays and all of that.”

“Coach Samples is a good dude, man,” Davis said. “He went to my school. He’s a good dude. He’s a good coach. He’s someone that I can relate to. I’ve been talking to him a lot.”

OL Chad Lindberg of League City Clear Creek talks Texas and future plans (24/7):

“They (Texas) are around the top… probably at the top right now,” Lindberg said with a laugh. “I like their coaches a lot. I can name seven of the ten coaches. There aren’t a lot of schools I can do that with. They all make themselves known to you, text you and keep up with you."

“I like Coach Hand a lot. After he left Auburn, their offensive line play went down, and Texas’ went up. He’s obviously doing something right.”

“(Logan Parr) is always making sure that Texas is on my mind,” Lindberg said. “Hudson (Card) is too. I have talked to Jake (Majors) a little bit. I talked to Mookie (Cooper) at Future 50 quite a bit. I like him.”

“I want to see the (Stanford) campus,” Lindberg said. “Everybody says it’s the most beautiful campus there is. I’ve only gotten to meet three coaches. I’d like to meet them all and talk to David Shaw.”

The hiring of Larry Fedora doesn't affect Beaty since Herman wants to hire a handful of analysts.

Not 100% certain yet.

You have Braun (Georgia Tech) and Jackson (Rutgers) coming in soon for visits and Coach Hand may be prioritizing those two over Proctor (Virginia).

Inside Texas mentioned this morning that Proctor does not have an offer from the staff yet.

Braun is the clear #1 target, but they would also take Jackson if he ends up liking UT more than Oklahoma and Ohio State.

Getting a bit uppity are we...

Specific concerns about next season

1 Is it possible we can hand the ball off to a running back on third and three and actually make a first down
2 Ehlinger and his health and accuracy (the overthrows to Duvernay, those are TDs and that’s why we have him at WR)
3 CB. Can they possibly be 50% of what our safeties appear to be
4 LB. Wheeler and Johnson gone. That’s a lot of corporate knowledg.

We got to win and we are not sneaking up on anybody. We appear to be a slow starting team and we got LSU the second game of the season. I know this is a recruiting thread but I demand improvement in the actual games.

Coaches who can't be on the field or on the road recruiting, but they assist with the behind-the-scenes preparation like film breakdown, scouting, game plans, etc.

Guys like Saban have built their programs with these worker bees.

A good example is Herman will probably have Fedora working on scouting opponents a few weeks ahead of time.

I don't think so. I read a few days ago that Herman wanted at least six "analysts" and that three of them would have major skins on the wall as a D1 coach (I think it was Orangebloods that reported it). I guess Fedora, Coleman and Beaty would qualify as those three. It looks like Del Conte has given Herman a blank check to get the support staff he felt he needed/wanted.

Quotes from 2021 OL Bryce Foster of Katy Taylor who won OL MVP at the Houston Rivals camp over the weekend (Inside Texas):

"Yes sir, I haven't really talked to too many coaches (with track season going on), I still have to call a few. I want to set up some visits for spring ball and everything."

"I'm really close with Donovan Jackson as well as Hayden (Conner). Hayden, Donovan, and I all work together with the same o-line coach in the off-season and it's a lot of work together. We've built a lot of camaraderie there. I think personally there's a chance we may all go to the same school. We haven't really talked about it before but it could definitely be a reality."

"I personally, I can play anywhere the coach wants to put me I'll play there. I'm not going to complain. If he tells me that if I play center that I can start, I'll go to center. I want to have the opportunity to play instead of sitting. I want to build a championship culture instead of, 'I only play this or I only play that.'"

"Great as ever (relationship with Coach Hand). We have a really good relationship with each other. He's been down to Taylor a few times and every time, we always, we just can't seem to quit talking. It's refreshing because he was at a place where I didn't think I'd see him that much, you know at Auburn, and now that he's here he could come see me every week if he wanted to. Me and him have a really good relationship."

Quotes from CB Kelee Ringo of Scottsdale, AZ (24/7):

“Everything is going really well,” Ringo said. “I’m just taking it pretty easy right now. A lot of schools are coming at me hard. I’m enjoying the process a lot. I’m not sure on official visits. I’m just feeling it out. I know I want to see Oklahoma and Oregon soon.”

“Texas is really high on my list,” Ringo said. “I haven’t been to any other school in the nation twice. I like Coach (Tom) Herman and (Jason) Coach Washington a lot. I like the defense and how they run practices. I also like how they played in games this year. They are a good team for sure.”

“They are putting the Big 12 on the map,” Ringo said. “A lot people are talking about Oklahoma winning a national title before Texas, but you never know. Texas definitely put it on Georgia. It was a huge win. They surprised me a bit. Texas has the grit, and that helps them out a lot.”

“It’s been huge (seeing West Coast recruits go to UT),” Ringo said. “Some of those guys have been recruiting me and trying to get me to come out there. On my first visit to Texas, I was at a game with De’Gabriel (Floyd). We are really good friends. I like a lot of the commits they got for sure.”

“My heart is definitely at running back,” Adams said. “I’m just out here playing receiver and working on my skills outside of running back, which should make me a more dynamic player.”

“My dad is from Texas,” Adams said. “He always speaks highly of it. I think highly of it. I want to get out there for a visit soon. I’ve never been down there. Texas is kind of high on my list. I haven’t been down there, but I would like to see it and learn everything.”

“We’ve just been talking about everything and building up that relationship,” Adams said. “That’s something I like to do, so I can feel comfortable. I’ve been talking to Coach (Stan) Drayton the most. Everything is going well with them so far.”

I'm not sure about our defense, but I am sure that we have some amazing leadership on our offense. Collin Johnson, Sam Ehlinger, are both amazing young men, I think our offense is going to be in good hands with those two young men.

Now I'm looking to see who is stepping up on defense to lead? Keep in mind, it isn't always the most talented guy who the leader, Poona Ford was an amazing leader as was Nelson last year. I want to what role Brandon Jones plays in leading the team, also Malcolm Roach and Jeffrey McCullough are the seniors I think can lead us. Then we have guys who you don't expect to lead but step up. I'm hoping we see something like this from Gerald Wilbon, or DeAndre Christmas Giles.

I’d lean on one of the Juco transfers. Jacoby Jones or Caleb Johnson. They’re new but show up with a work ethic and you gain respect quickly and they’re older guys. One thing Gary Johnson did great was leading and earning the respect in a hurry. He stepped in and took over right away.

Quotes from him:

“It’s definitely been fun. I’m starting to get a lot more serious in my recruitment. It used to be about going on visits and telling people. Now, I’m going on visits to see if I can fit in then, if it fits me and fits my family. It’s been fun.”

“I like how honest they (Texas) are. Coach (Herb) Hand, the offensive line coach, you know what you’re gonna get with him. He doesn’t sugarcoat things and I appreciate that. Coach (Tom) Herman, when I talk to him, he says he’s looking forward to recruiting me the next two years, so I’m definitely looking forward to it.”

“My dad wants me to wait until after my junior year, and then it’s all up to me. I have an idea of what I want to do, but I’m still unsure. It changes every day.”

“Obviously, I’m looking at the education and the alumni system after, the connections where I can get a great job early, that definitely stands out to me. Texas, they have a great program for after football if you want to come back to get your master’s degree. They’ll help you out with that and I appreciate that.”

It's like every recruiting service they have is not made up of reporters but guys who try to be influencers. Every aggsy thinks they can do their part to improve recruiting. Seriously, why?

Let your coaches do their job, and understand you will win some and lose some. They are the poster children of the desperate.

It's obviously super early and Texas needs to have a good season in 2019, but that 2021 OL class could be the best they've ever signed.

Brockermeyer and Fatheree look like sure five-stars, and Conner / Foster / Jackson won't be far behind.

More quotes from 2021 QB Preston Stone after his Junior Day visit to UT (24/7):

“It was fun,” Stone said. “I got to meet with Coach (Tom) Herman for a while and took a tour of the facilities. I got to meet a lot of coaches and saw the new early enrollees. It was a lot of fun.”

“Coach Herman told me that he is really interested in me coming here,” Stone said. “He went to Parish a couple of weeks ago. It was great to get to talk to him. I got to meet his wife and kids, too. They were pretty funny. It was a really exciting day.”

“What Coach Beck was preaching the whole time was what it means to be a Texas quarterback,” Stone said. “You look at guys like Sam Ehlinger and Vince Young, they all possess that certain trait of a winner. Coach Beck is an awesome coach."

“You look at his track record with Tommy Armstrong and all those guys that have put up great numbers in college football. Sam is the next one in line. He’s definitely a quarterback generator.”

“Education is first,” Stone said. “I’m also looking for a culture that wins. Sam said after the Sugar Bowl win that Texas is back. They obviously have a winning culture here. That’s something that I’ll be looking forward to.”

Update on five-star WR Johnny Wilson of Calabasas, CA (24/7):

“Shoot, Texas is a school I really like,” Wilson said. “I gained interest in them at the end of my sophomore year. I just saw how they used their big receivers. That really jumped out at me. I started watching Collin’s highlights, and he’s big as hell. I can see myself possibly being in that offense.”

“Coach Mehringer is a funny guy,” Wilson said. “But he can get serious. When it’s time to work, it’s time to work. Overall, he’s a great guy. What I’ve seen him do for his receivers and his offense says a lot.”

“Coach Herman and Coach Mehringer are doing some great things down there,” Wilson said. “The past two years have been really good. When I first started going through the recruiting process, going out-of-state wasn’t really a thing I would look into. But they really opened up that door.”

“Seeing them recruit out of my home state shows that they value the players that come from here,” Wilson said. “That’s something that I really look into.”

“I think the University of Texas is probably leading the way right now,” he said. “They are recruiting me hard, probably harder than any school right now. So, we are on good terms.”

“I feel like Texas is building something special up there right now,” he said. “They have a lot of good players and a lot of special classes coming up, so it should be fun to see what happens in the near future.”

“It’s just the relationship with Coach (Tom) Herman and the rest of the coaching staff,” he said. “They treat me like family and that’s one thing I look for when I go to a place. I want to see if I can fit in there.”

We have 11 Seniors. I'm giving a wild guess that Patrick Hudson will not play ball again. We have 5 open unfilled scholarships. I'm going to say one is filled by a juco and the others will be grad transfers with 1 yr of eligibility remaining. So that is 4 open add in about 5 transfers. I'm guessing 21 as well.

My scholarship count

QB - 1
RB - 2
WR - 2
TE - 1
Oline - 5

Dline - 4
LB - 3
DB - 3

My guess is 23. I would add a WR and a DB to your count.

In trying to determine our recruiting class count I looked at the current juniors to see if any were on a level that they might declare for the Draft early. The only guy I saw that I deeded to have a shot at declaring early is Ta'Quon Graham. and that is a bit of a stretch, he will have to have a monster season to do so. Of course there is also Ehlinger, but for him to do so, I expect he will likely have to win the Heisman.

I thought we would wait until after the visit by Parker Braun to make this call. I wonder if the decision is all about Willie (who is a likeable guy) or more about the GTs who have already been in for visits? Hopefully the former

What does this say for Parker Braun or the other grad transfers/Jucos?

Doesn't appear to be related at all, especially considering Tyler is an OT with several years to play and the others are OGs.

Braun is still the #1 priority for grad transfers, J. Jackson is off the table and Proctor doesn't seem like a take for the staff since he hasn't received an offer.

Quotes from five-star RB Kendall Milton of Clovis, CA on his unofficial visit to Texas (24/7):

“I loved it out there,” Milton said. “I was there for two days and I would say the best part for me was spending time with coach (Tom) Herman and coach (Stan) Drayton (RB coach). I was able to sit down with them have a great conversation about the school and my role there."

“You can tell both coaches know their football and they’re both family based, which is important to me. They talked about the offense and how I could be the primary back for them and make a huge impact on the team. They see me as an every down back that never leaves the field and I definitely feel like I could make that place my home.”

“Gabe (De'Gabriel Floyd) took me out and showed me around,” Milton said. “He showed me the town a little and I love the city of Austin and felt very comfortable there. I saw Bru (McCoy) and he loves it there as well. It’s a great school and the football program is going in the right direction. I definitely plan to be back again for an official visit."

"I'm trying to set up a visit to Ohio State right now," Milton said. "I also want to visit LSU, Alabama and Georgia. I'm going to try and take some official visits this spring and I'll also take some in the fall but I haven't figured all that out yet."

"I was at Oklahoma before the Texas visit and that was a great trip too. I'm for sure going to take an official visit there as well but I'm not sure about the others. I'm just going to take my unofficial visits first and then I'll figure out the official trips later this off-season."

Update on RB Ty Jordan of West Mesquite after visiting Austin for Junior Day (24/7):

“It was pretty good,” he said. “I’ve already been there. I like what they are doing that’s new. They are going to change the stadium and have some new renovations. It was just a great time meeting with Coach (Stan) Drayton and spending one-on-one time with him. It was a big impact.”

“I like his seriousness,” Jordan said. “He can play with you, laugh with you or joke with you, but he can also get serious. I saw that a lot. He only had us for about 15 minutes, but he was already teaching us lessons and had us going.”

“It’s up there,” he said. “I don’t plan on making a list or narrowing things down until closer to next season, but Texas is definitely on the map.”

“I’m kind of looking at Arkansas and Colorado,” he said. “I’m trying not to really be biased towards anyone at this point.”

“Texas is still No. 1,” Collins said. “I haven’t been down there in a while, but I plan to go back soon. I grew up a UT fan. I just like (Tom) Coach Herman and the school.”

“Coach Giles is open,” Collins said. “He’ll listen to you. He’s a good coach. He’s a good dude. I like him.”

“OU (is Texas' main competition),” Collins said. “They have good coaches. They are funny and fun to be around. They are good people. I like them.”

I think that the staff is recruiting him as an athlete. Keep in mind that both him and Card are able to play multiple positions so the guy who isnt a quarterback can still make a impact.
