With a new AD comes a new coach most likely.
If they are trying to shake up the culture to something more forthright and hire Urban Meyer...
Then we can all throw up.

Yup, what a surprise. Shocked.
Someone should ask Orgeron how Kragthorp is recovering from his "punch to the pacemaker" he suffered after last year's A&M game.
The LSU coaching staff is starting to get a bad reputation for fabricating stories of poor treatment at away venues. I'm not sure why they feel they need to lie to paint themselves as victims, but it is not a good practice.

Considering Coach O was once charged with repeated domestic violence, it’s not like this accusation is coming from the most honorable source of integrity. 13 of their defensive players had cramps, zero of their offensive players had cramps. They aren’t fooling anybody with the slow down / timeout strategy. LSU won the game, they should just move on.

yep, or just install wireless temp sensors in each dressing room so that it can be proven that both are the same or close to it.
[tongue in cheek] unless, they are trying to make the visitors uncomfortable and, if true, someone needs to be disciplined for not making LATech dressing room a sauna

That is huge and could change college football forever. Makes being at a Nike school big time for recruiting. You have to know Phil Knight is going to turn Oregon into a professional team.
I'm curious if the Ncaa is going to push back or just let it go for everyone.
So lets have some fun name the Texas player and the product he would endorse.
Sam Ehlinger - Dewalt Hammers
Gary Johnson - Raid ant and roach killer
Sam Cosmi - AFLAC - extra protection when you need it.
Dev Duverney - Porsche
Parker Braun - Caterpillar tractors
Joseph Ossai - Assassin Creed Video Game

Or.... it could just be liberal cali politicians being what they are. Will the rest of the PAC12 adopt the same knowing it could put them in jeopardy with NCAA competition. I've been an advocate of the olympic type of pay model, which is essentially endorsements, for all athletes but the ncaa would have to accept some type of endorsement model for all schools or limit competition with schools that do

Man I still think some of the best highlights of the game came from Cosmi. A lot of the “analyst” knew it was a matchup to keep an eye on and Cosmi delivered he was a bad ass the entire game. Chaisson is very fast and a lot of times when he’d come off the line I’d think “oh no, he got ‘em” just to see Cosmi back pedal and stand him up. What a beast of a performance. Hand needs to stay in Austin for a lifetime and we need to pay him all that he asks.

lsu has a team full of paid for recruits they even paid for texas enrollee michael williams.........if texas/oklahoma or anyone in the big12 wants to get over the hump they have to pay recruits.........even clemson paid for recruits to get where they are now........ no one will bat an eye if 5* start picking texas
It’s like talking to a child. People are throwing a fit over air conditioning. Someone might be upset if Texas starts dropping off money bags. You sure do like to make accusations about other programs. I’m sure the proof will be forthcoming.
Kermit
09-10-2019, 05:37 PM
clemson & lsu have already been caught.........google clemson church payments..........google lsu threatening to ruin lives of recruits families who took money & were wavering the proof is out there..........
Message board posts don’t really count as “getting caught”. Some coach talking on a wiretap doesn’t constitute as “caught”. And we all know how crazy those coonass fans of LSU are. I’m sure hearsay will bring down this vicious cycle of cheating. I guess you want Texas fans to start threatening recruits?

It angers me to no end that a cheating ass program that wakes up every morning wondering how they can cheat in their athletics is lying on our name. Texas isn't perfect but we are as close to it as there is D1 football. I hope CDC forces them to recant their made up lie.

it's always hard to tell with freshmen. sometimes, they live up to the hype and sometimes they plateau. the RB from Brennan (jahyml jeter, now a RB at OSU) a few years back, comes to mind. he was a beast as a freshman. also, julon williams was a stud freshman at judson as a QB (now a WR at Houston). but sounds like this kid has lots of promise.

Help me out here - why has the media in-large been covering the A/C myth and yet hardly any mention of the harassment (misdemeanors) and threats (felonies) conducted towards UT’s players & coach’s families? ESPN briefly mentioned it on gameday and I’ve only seen one somewhat significant article shed some light on it. LA Tech’s head coach denied the A/C situation/accusation, CDC denied it, etc. It didn’t happen. So why is there no coverage on 2-3 days worth of harassment and threats leading up to the game? Is threatening to hang a coach’s family in the kitchen and slit their throats not “news worthy”, wait I mean “click worthy”?
Per https://www.mytexasdefenselawyer.com/texas-criminal-laws-penalties/harassment-laws/
“The Texas Penal Code says you have committed harassment if you call, write or e-mail someone with the intention of scaring, embarrassing, annoying, or tormenting them. Specifically, if you solicit or describe sex acts, threaten to harm the person or the person’s family, falsely report the death or serious injury of a third party, let the phone ring over and over, or send repeated e-mails, you can be charged.
Harassment is a Class B misdemeanor, punishable by not more than 180 days in a county jail and/or a fine of not more than $2,000. But, if you have been convicted of harassment before, it becomes a Class A misdemeanor, which could mean up to a year in county jail and/or fines up to $4,000.
If the case involves threats of violence, the charge can become stalking, a felony.
On the first offense, stalking is a third-degree felony, punishable by 2 to 10 years in a state prison and/or a fine of not more than $10,000. With a previous conviction, it is a second-degree felony, bumping the possible penalty up to 2 to 20 years in a state prison.”

I think they will be fine this week with Chris Brown playing that role and having Josh Thompson back him up. Owen's and Montrell Estelle can back up Jones and Sterns.
They have a lot of players to mix and match with:
B. Jones
C. Sterns
C. Brown
J Thompson
M. Estelle
T. Owen's
Chris Adimora
Still a lot of talent to hold down the fort until Overshown and Foster come back....unlike the RB position.

Be patient. The fiscal year ended on Aug 31 and the Dept of Education financial filings are being compiled. https://ope.ed.gov/athletics/#/
A&M's operating revenues are around $150mil. Texas' are north of $210 million.
Forbes is using the NCAA financial reporting numbers that combine capital campaign revenue and operating revenue. When those numbers are released, A&M will fall back to $150 million, while Texas' numbers (with the roughly $150 million in SEZ capital) will surge to almost $400 million for the year. People are going to go nuts when Texas' numbers are released.
Just be patient. My guess is that CDC will break up the SEZ money so it isn't all received and reported on one year, for political reasons (remember that UT Austin's academic operating budget is well over $3B and A&M's is barely $1.7B), but even if that happens, Texas' revenue will be double A&M's, and A&M will fall out of the top 10 for NCAA programs.
The numbers are going to be stunning when Texas reports its athletics department revenues. Just be prepared.

This defense better get salty real quick. Anything less than a shutout against Rice is a failure. No,getting cute, BS. We shouldn’t need to blitz one single play during the game. If we start the game looking weak and start falling into some trap game crap then Orlando needs to be put on the hot seat.

This team runs a completely different offense.
We had better run some blitzes. Run blitzes actually.
And a shutout... this means nothing. What we should hope for is a lot of different kids getting to play and no injuries.
The real test for our pass defense SHOULD still be on our schedule.

If Cosmi leaves early he is going to leave a huge void in our line for next year. I'm a bit disappointed Reese Moore hasn't developed into a starter yet. If we can keep Cosmi for one more year it would solidify our line next year and give us huge depth for what should be a title run.

Nope I had a brain fart and thought Ehlinger was a Senior.
Imo Ehlinger will be in no hurry to leave because he’s not gonna get drafted till late rounds regardless.
I still don’t want Sam Cosmi to leave. I also had a brain fart on him thinking he could not leave until I realized he started as a redshirt. So I’m not to be relied upon trying to remember what year a kid is in (especially in the morning)

Totally agree that Cosmi leaving would be a big hole to fill and would hinder experience and depth. However, I think they have a lot of young parts on the line. Tyler Johnson and Javonne Shepherd will be pushing for starting spots and Okafor and Kerstetter will still be there. I figure if Cosmi leaves we would be looking at a starting line of: Kerstetter, Angilau, Ghirmai, Johnson and Okafor with primary backups as Shepherd, JP, Christian Jones and Willie Tyler. All that said, Cosmi needs to stay.

My remark about Smith being no Dev Duv is more angled towards his physical strength of Dev. That dude is strong and fast, I know Smith has some wheels, but he doesn't have the power of Duv.
As for his production. It's honestly all about the position. Sam has a built in trigger for that inside position. I don't know if he is just more comfortable throwing to the inside receiver, but he sure seems to lean on that guy more than any other receiver. My guess is that when all is said and done smith will be the most successful receiver since Shipley. But he doesn't have the physical abilities of Duv.

Orlando has proven to be a great DC, there is no way we have a Diaz defense. First off no one has yet had real success running the ball. Eventually we will come around and this going to be a very salty defense.
The way he mugs his LB and CB leaving wide space open will continue to bite us in the ass against great QB's.
We were lucky Jake Fromm was an overrated POS with zero experience against defenses that know how to handle the pass. In fact, the sugar bowl 1st half TD Georgia had was a simple QB read to pass to the WR that vacated the open space from a blitzer. But he never did it again, thank god.
Failure to achieve proper pass rush with DLineman combined with poor DB 1 on 1 coverage will fuck this team as soon as next week.

Two notes from Inside Texas...
-WR Loic Fouonji of Midland Lee is a possibility to visit Austin again this weekend.
-they feel Texas is still in a good spot with DE Alfred Collins after he recently visited OU.

he also said, "Zach Shackelford, Joseph Ossai and Collin Johnson are all probable for Oklahoma State."
What about Whittington? I assume he will be out for a few more weeks with the injury he had or he may not come back until after mid season

They're probably going to redshirt Whittington. Which means he can play in 3 more games.

I watched OK state the other day and came away less than impressed. Their O will score some points, but Texas should be able to do the same on their D and more. The QB for OK state is still green and he will finally see a defense with a pulse (granted a faint one currently).
