I wanted to point out that ATH Kevontre Bradford of Lancaster will be in attendance.
Not saying he'll end up in the class or anything like that, but Coach Mehringer has been following him a while and he' just explosive on film.
I think Texas is keeping a few guys warm in case they want to make a move later.

Would we take 3 backs?

Would we take 3 backs? I would think that if they were going to take a full class, then that might be a consideration because "athletes" can play multiple positions. In this class, however, I dont see how they can do that with only a few schollies left to give and other positions to fill

Ehlinger's rib may be a problem.
He seems to be making bad decisions as well due to being tentative and less willing to run.
I guess we'll see soon based on whether or not the offense gets more aggressive.

I think Quinn nailed it that Texas needs to open it up and speed it up.
OU knows Texas wants to limit their possessions, so they're daring Texas to go for the big play knowing Herman doesn't want to do that.
Any small ball UT is trying to play is being sniffed out immediately (i.e. swing passes to Duvernay).

They played like shit and still had a chance to win the game. Hell, he beat OU last year and he'll have another shot next season. They have two top five recruiting classes coming in too. I wouldn't say they are back from a dominance standpoint, but they are far from the dogshit they endured in the late Mack era up to the time Herman was hired.

Wish we had 9 other guys on offense with the heart of Roschon and Sam. Sam looked squirmish all day but 9 sacks can’t all be attributed to QB play. Hard to believe we were one onside kick recovery from a chance at tying up at games end with such disparity in QB protection. I don’t recall seeing a QB being harassed in a game this much in quite awhile it was quite unbelievable with how our OL had been progressing. Roschon should start at RB from this point forward what an embarrassment Keaontay has been. He’s being outperformed by a true freshman and it’s not even close, what a gamer! Give him all the carries and let Keaontay mop up the leftovers.

A few thoughts-
- The DB’s on this team can’t tackle in space.
- #25 shouldn’t have been on the field yesterday. It’s obvious he was hurting pretty bad. Why the coaches didn’t make the change is beyond me.
- Herman and his crew got out coached, out schemed and out classed yesterday by Lincoln.
- We were sacked 9 times yesterday, that’s more on coaching than players.
- Maybe one day we’ll throw to the middle of the field, because we never do and OU knew this.
- Pretty horrible game all around yesterday. If Texas wants to get these guys again this year they better learn to play defense and get healthy fast. We’re the walking wounded out there.

By playing Foster the coaches lost more of my little respect. The loss IMO was 99 per cent on the coaches.OU has more talent at all positions on offense except OL. Then they are coached how to hold so that makes for difference in talent
Defence was just out coached plus injures

Hopefully Orlando moves on after the season, as well as whoever is in charge of the late term abortion of Special Teams.
The 3/4 needs to go and Ossai needs to be a stand up rush end, stop trying to be cute and get the man to start playing like Sergio Kindle and he'll get drafted higher than he would as a linebacker when he isn't fit for the position. We should have stopped the run yesterday, with 4 down lineman it would've been easier.

Special Teams has been brutal especially on the return teams, no doubt. You get a WTF moment every game.
The #1 problem schematically is that Orlando needs to figure out how to get a pass rush because what he's doing aint working and when you have all day to throw, it makes things worse on the back end.
This Defense is young and decimated by injuries right now, so i'll give him a pass on some things, but fundamentals and tackling go hand in hand and we seem to be lacking in that department currently.
With that being said, I feel the D did enough to win the game. Herman and company on offense was the bigger issue yesterday.

I purposely have avoided the internet to let myself cool off. I have a few takes.
1. I love Todd Orlando, but right now he is stuck trying to make his personal fit his scheme. The problem is they don't fit and it's killing us. Forget the injuries, this is on the coaches to put each player in the best position to succeed. IMO right now we have two coaches on staff that are actually better coaches than Orlando. Beaty and the guy from Rutgers. Orlando either needs to listen to them or he needs to move on. The defense played better than the offense, but they still sucked, it's just the offense sucked more.
2. Special teams coach needs to be fired. These guys have regressed since Wareheim has taken over.
3. When you talk crap before the game, better be able to back it up. All week prior to the game all I heard was Texas players talking crap. They were the ones that didn't show up. Especially true of the offensive line. 9 sacks isn't just about coaching or scheme, it's about getting whipped by the guy in front of you. They disrespected the blowu dline and those guys responded.
4. If Texas makes the Big 12 title game you better realize the Big 12 refs will not let Texas win. I don't care how good we play.

Hook-em!
Disappointing about middle of the field bc we started off the season doing just that with Dev and Jake in the slots. Went away from it 1-2 games ago.

Scipio nailed this part of it, just bulls eye. It's the NCAA equivalent of Golden State setting moving screens and getting away with using their arms on defense for the ENTIRE GAME. You can't beat it, you have to overcome it.
UT is a solid tier 2 team at this point with a lot of upside. their two losses have been to two teams that could very well be in the playoffs. i see no reason to think that texas will not get another crack at OU this year.

My uninformed view is Ingram is having some attitude issues, or he's constantly banged up. Maybe both.
My bet is the staff does their best to get Ingram going against a lesser Kansas, instead of transitioning Roschon to a starting role.
But that's two games in a row where Roschon has helped a lackluster offense get going.

They are two totally different type of backs. Ingram should be your 3rd down back while Roschon should get bulk of first and second down reps. Ingram lacks patience and often jumps to the outside before he lets the play develop.
Roschon does still have a little work to do in pass protection, as he sometimes gets a little lost and that's probably why the coaches have been a little bit cautious with him being in there more.

a little work to do on pass pro? way back when, we use to call them "look out" blocks. Murray would blitz right by RJ without breaking stride... and more than just once. Some HC, OC, and/or RB coaches limit snaps to RBs that can not be trusted to block. Does Stan Drayton coach on the sidelines? Ingram could use some encouraging and RJ with blocking technique

Ehlinger’s goal line score was due to fantastic blocking by Ingram. And it came after Ehlinger got on Ingram on the sidelines. So it’s a real dilemma. Because RJ is flat out better at seeing creases and definitely stronger. He moves people the down the field while going down. And that’s a true freshman. We are in a tough position. And our “take it home runner” is still injured (Whittington). I wonder how much conditioning he has lost. He was really explosive. The best of the bunch imo. Probably not anymore.
The future still looks good. Hope we did not lose anyone committed because of the showing. I was still hoping Ringo might rethink after the Georgia laid an egg. Orlando badly needs a shutdown corner imo. Then he can play his confusion games with 10 men.
Oh, Coburn is going to be very, very good at his position imo.

I hope they dont take MM; save the schollie for next year if there is one available, which I dont there is. Leitao, Liebrock & Wiley are good TEs in waiting. MM ran a slow 4.9 40 at the opening while being recruited in 2017 and he has gained 20 pounds since then. Could he be cross trained to OL? The big hit on him is that he's he's not a good blocker so that's unlikely.
David Thomas was a true dual threat TE. Finley was not a TE even though he was called one. If you are not tight on the line and can not block, then you are not a TE. What do you call a player on the LOS that is not tight on the line? a receiver... or you make up a term like FLEX. That's not to say that a slower big receiver isnt a target or a threat but Texas already has tall receivers that are faster and better athletes

After a rewatch of the OU Texas game I have become even more upset with the offensive line and less upset with the D.
I also wonder if Ehlinger and Ingram worked out their little problem during the game and on the sidelines. I need to give more credit to our TE for the block on the goal line where Ehlinger scores after they turned it over on downs at about midfield 3rd to 4th quarter. Ingram did a good job but it was the TE that got the most important block.

Aren't all of those guys slot WRs or RBs though? When irvin88 criticized the UT coaching staff for emphasizing height/size with their WRs, I though it was obvious he's talking specifically about outside WRs seeing as how slot WRs & All-purpose RBs aren't positions you associate with height.

The way we start to handle an offense we have not seen is to disrupt enough at the line of scrimmage so that Kansas can’t run their new offense. Get off blocks and tackle, this is not OU. Sit back and watch because we think they might run screens...? No. Beat your man or be all over the man you are responsible for. They will not be running intricate flea flickers.

Not much to report this weekend.
WR Loic Fouonji (Midland Lee) and DE Alfred Collins (Bastrop Cedar Creek) will be taking their officials.
The Brockermeyer brothers are supposed to be in, plus 2021 S Dalton Johnson of Katy.
