DT Vernon Broughton posted on his Instagram that he's currently in Austin.
Just my opinion, but I wouldn't take it seriously as I think he's trying to rev up the suspense.https://drivensource.net/metric/?mid=&wid=51824&sid=&tid=8472&rid=LOADED&custom1=www.spurstalk.com&custom2=%2Fforums%2Fshowthread.php&t=1562962131481https://drivensource.net/metric/?mid=&wid=51824&sid=&tid=8472&rid=BEFORE_OPTOUT_REQ&t=1562962131481https://drivensource.net/metric/?mid=&wid=51824&sid=&tid=8472&rid=FINISHED&custom1=www.spurstalk.com&t=1562962131484

Kind of silly if he gave it away that easy.
Maybe he'll go film in College Station too.

Per 24/7, ATH Jahari Rogers of Arlington High had a "productive" conversation with Coach Washington last night, and he should be making a decision in July.
Florida is still very much in the race, but they feel Texas remains in front.

So it seems the Ag mods on their pay sites are conceding Broughton to Texas. I have no idea, like I said, if he does pick Texas that is great, but to me the real prize is Alfred Collins. He is full on beast.
However it's scary how few good dlinemen there are this cycle in the state of Texas. According to the 247 Texas top 100, there are only about 6 in the top 50 that play on the defensive line. This is probably the leanest year I've ever seen.

Rumor on 24/7 that Broughton hasn’t been returning a&m’s phone calls since Thursday. Mom did post the graphic that Douchenozzle posted above but those aren’t real tweets, just a graphic created by a&m’s media dept.

So let's get the top 2.
This has really become a straight on battle between fan bases imo.
Aggie says they will be fine without him as well. So I guess neither fan base really wants him that much.
Except I do. And I want Ringo. And I want Bijan. And I want us to turn LB White with our upcoming season.

Texas needs to make this a priority very quickly. Alabama would snag both Milroe and Adeleye. Good chunk of the fanbase prefers Milroe over Stone, shoot maybe even the majority of passionate fans do.

Very important that we land Collins and Broughton. There are three clear top DL in the state of Texas for next year’s cycle, Texas doesn’t lead for any of them and they’re a reach.
- A&M leads for Landon Jackson, he is also an Aggy legacy.
- A&M leads for Marcus Burris, teammate of LJ. It’s very possible that they’ll end up at the same school. We may make this one a Texas vs A&M battle with Aggy holding the edge.
- Alabama leads for Tunmise Adeleye, teammate of Jalen Milroe. Alabama also leads for Milroe.
Texas will need to land second tier DL from Texas and then go OOS to land some top dogs.
We have a chance with Jordon Thomas and Shemar Turner.

Ja'Tavion Sanders is a 5* DL and some sites have said he lives in a burnt orange house.
Thomas is a stud.
Turner looks like a grown man and was the Dallas Opening DL MVP.
All 3 are studs. Throw in someone like Clayton Smith from the edge and that's an elite haul.
I do think Jackson and Burris end up at aggy.

No, it's just me. In the beginning of this cycle, I pegged him as the 2nd most important prospect we were recruiting. However, after i watched him and noted his size. I fell less and less in love with him. He sort of reminds me of Roy Miller. He isn't a great athlete that you put on the end and send him after the QB. he is tall with longer legs that that makes him lill suited for the Nose guard spot. Honestly, the Aggsy are right, he is more suited as a 3 tech in a 4-3 defense. But he wants to be an end and he is less suited for an end in the 4-3 than he is in a 3-4. This isn't saying that broughton can't develop into a perfect DE for Texas, but he just seems to have the body type that fits a classic 4-3 DT.
In the beginning, Alfred Collins was meh, he was good, but I wasn't losing sleep over him. However he is now up to 280 lbs and with his athletic ability he is perfect for a strong side End position. To me he is now the most important guy we are recruiting on the dline. I will be upset if Texas doesn't get him. The other guy I really want is Octavious Oxindine. That dude was made to stick in the middle of a 3-4 defense. No one is rooting him out and he is a guy that can collapse a pocket. He is my second most important guy we are recruiting on the dline.
I'm not sure what we are doing on the weak side DE spot. I know we are recruiting the Redding kld from Missouri and Princely U-Da-Man, but both guys are far from being sure things.
As for Linebacker, I want Flowe and Sa'ville Smalls, we need to get them down for a visit.

No there are Aggies that are backing out on Broughton when we came back into the picture.
And I love it.
And they dont have any explanation, you do. (excuse they do, "We got Leal")
TFloss has clearly put down great get for them, too bad us, when Aggie wins a battle.
I like to see the pettiness in Aggie.
We need to get on the field with them in a bowl so badly and treat them like we treated the last two SEC-SEC opponents.
We also need to hammer LSU. I would take an LT upset, if we get to thrash LSU.
Still hate OU legit. Cant really hate little bro leaving home. Just admonish them as little bro.

Damn... this is an epic a troll job if it’s not UT at this point. “Lights, camera, action...” seems like a commit video being created.
Im not on twitter or insta or Snapchat so idk if there’s stuff being posted for other schools but he’s in Austin taking pics and vids etc. If he’s not coming to UT then what’s he doing in Austin all weekend? Hard to imagine him being in CS tomorrow doing the same things. Guess we’ll see.

That is hilarious, didn't they just lose a 5'star DB because they couldn't/wouldn't help him with a rapey roommate? How can anyone in their right mind pick a SEC school over a Big 12 school when it comes to DB? Not even considering it's Texas. In the Big 12 you are going to be tested every week by some of the most prolific passing attacks in college football. Good luck with him bulking up because he is going to be doing a lot of run support.
I would get it if he were a linebacker, but a corner in the Texas defense is the Rockstar of our defense. Worst of all, we have an amazing track record of sending guys to the NFL. Not to mention that DB is the most pure athletic position on the field, lets not forget our coaches worked wonders with Cris Boyd just to get him to a level to play in the NFL. Same with that dumbass Holton Hill.
I am so glad my livelihood doesn't depend on the decision of an 18 yr old, because I'd probably pull out what is left of my hair.

I don’t want to assume the kid is scared/weak but they made it sound like it had more to do with our depth chart. He won’t see the field soon. They also mentioned that he feels Torian Gray has more NFL products than Wash. Idk that that’s accurate but... feels the kid is trying to say “I don’t want to sit and I can’t compete with who you have on campus.”

Keep in mind he is a product of an Oklahoma family, I'm sure there is that little bit of push to say "Anywhere but Texas". Someone needs to remind his mom how well Florida took care of the last 5'star DB that signed with them. Whatever his reason, good luck to him and on to the next guy. legacy can be overrated sometimes. the kid spent his life growing up in washington so it makes sense that he would have no connection to the aggies. he doesn't really have to live in his dad's shadow all that much either, being that his dad was a DT. i never feel that it's a slap in the face when a kid goes in another direction from his dad. hell man, i don't even tell my kids, one way or another, what college they should go to when the time comes. a&m was my choice. they should make their own, completely independent of where i went.

Rumor it’s staff related so...
Saying its its most likely Chang. I would think Herman would never allow anybody to pull his bellcow recruiters away. I think Chang works mostly in the background but does very very good work. Seems to fit the “not a huge deal but still sucks” kind of feeling.

It's really hard to take them serious when they rank anyone over Trevor Lawrence. He is the best QB I've ever seen on the college level at this point in their careers. Even Payton Manning was no where near as good as Trevor Lawrence is going into his sophomore year. I do like that they are giving Sam the respect, but no way Tua is better than Trevor.

Late Monday night update on DT Vernon Broughton from 24/7.
"I just spoke with someone regarding Broughton. He announced on his Instagram live that the announcement might actually come in a week or two. The person I spoke with said it could be a ploy and an announcement would drop in the next day or so, or it could be the family slowing things down a little bit. I asked this person if slowing it down would change the decision, and I was told the family was a little overwhelmed right now, but they don't believe the decision or video would change. This is one of the weirder endings to a recruitment that I thought would be fairly straight-forward, but that seems to be the case with a lot of them in this cycle. I'll update when I know more."

Does this feel like the Jackson Jeffcoat recruitment to anyone else? I may be revealing my age/obsession but I seem to remember the staff fighting negative recruiting angles and having to re-implant themselves to win out.

i'm not hearing all that much on his status with a&m at this time. i'd say that the overall feel is that the ags are on the outside looking in on him. personally, i think he may be milking it, unless 'bama is the one not showing him the love he wants at the moment. if that's the case, i'd have to say that UT has a leg up on a&m in that regard, as they seem to have been more consistently pursuing him.

I'm happy for him to get a coaching gig. You have to start somewhere and it was never going to happen at Texas right away. Give him a few years to learn the ropes ( we know he can recruit already) and he can use this experience as a stepping stone to a big time program like Texas one day.

Thats the thing, it’s not like he’s being pressed for time. Whether he commits to us today or tomorrow or next month, recruits often de-commit. It’s not like Jimbo is just going to say, “Well you got us Coach Herman. Good show, old chap. On to the next sporting hunt!”
Its less likely he de-commits after going through the efforts of a commit video and building so many people’s expectations, but it happens. Aggies made a whole movie about a certain recruit one time. Didn’t end well. Lol.

This recruitment is going all the way to the end and its almost kinda pointless to speculate about it as this kid is in no rush at all and the performance of teams in the upcoming season might have a lot to do with what he ultimately decides. However, I do believe and most A&M recruiting analysts believe that A&M and possibly Texas will be in the thick of it for him when it's all said and done.

Actually Broughton should do a lot for helping the staff feel better moving forward. He was one of their primary targets so getting him has made this class look so much more stable. I'm sure they are still looking at RB and stressing, but they are good in a lot of areas.
QB Good
Oline - Good
Athletes - Good
Dline - Good
LB - Good
Still need to address WR, RB and then fill in the rest. But the biggest scare is losing Samples and what that is going to do to our Dallas recruiting. If we strike out at RB recruiting then I'm ready to make a move to get Samples back and let our RB coach walk. I didn't realize this, but Beaty is a offensive coach, I was always under the impression his experience was on the defensive side.
Primary targets moving forward. Lindberg, Collins, Thompson, and Quintin Johnston. Get those guys and keep working on guys like Johnny Wilson, Bijan Robinson, Kelee Ringo, and try to bring in guys like Justin Flowe, Saville Smalls for a visit before summer ends.

Visited 2 weeks in the summer on his own dime and will take a fall OV. Twitter profile pic is in Texas gear. He has legit interest and I saw somewhere saying if we push we can get him.
Thanks for the skinny on him. I knew we made his top 6 but didn’t know how much of a contender we were or if he was just using the UT brand for clout. He has a nice highlight film.

From Inside Texas on the 2021 QB chase...
"I think Milroe could decide soon after that (next weekend). He wants to see Oregon but that situation is extremely fluid. Yesterday was a pretty wild day for that recruitment. I'll go into it tomorrow. I have the Milroe side covered but need the Texas side. If Herman wants Stone first and foremost he should be leveraging Milroe's interest hard. He might be."
"I think I’m predicting Milroe in the class. Bama taking that dude yesterday was a game changer."

Great about Milroe. Wish him and Stone were in separate classes. Both are so good. I like Stone more but I can admit that Milroe is a better fit. Who is recruiting Stone the hardest besides us?
Has either kid shown the potential to be a good recruiter for the rest of their class?

I don't know of any visits Stone has taken outside of SMU and Texas.
His parents are supposedly big SMU people/donors and his brother is playing for them currently.
Hard to say on their respective recruiting abilities because Stone is a private school kid and both guys are still quite young, but Milroe probably helps you with 2021 DE Tunmise Adeleye at the very least.

Here is what I can tell you about high school football in the state of Utah. Football is woefully under funded compared to Texas. Attendance is non-existant for most schools. My son was at Clearfield High for a year before we moved back to Texas. For about 95% of the kids there, they don't get the proper training like kids in Texas get. Basically his upside is probably higher than a kid ranked about the same here in Texas. It's also my experience that the public high school system in Utah is a lot better than in Texas. I'm pretty sure he will probably do well in the classroom.
As of now, it's about 50/50 Mormon to non-Mormon there. Draper is actually south of Salt Lake City. It's been my experience that the further south you go the more Mormon the population is. It is my experience that if you wear a cross it's basically telling everyone you are not a Mormon.

Other random notes from Inside Texas today...
-the two big recruitments Ra'Shaad Samples was in charge of before he left for SMU were 2021 RB Camar Wheaton (Garland Lakeview Centennial) and 2021 OL Savion Byrd (Duncanville). They believe Texas is still in great shape there, especially with Byrd because UT already has QB Ja'Quinden Jackson (Duncanville) committed.
-OL Chad Lindberg (League City Clear Creek) is still genuinely conflicted on what he's going to do because although he's been predicted to UT for a long time, he has great relationships with coaches at other schools. He could still make a decision in August before his high school season starts.
-the number on the DL for the 2020 class should be three, and DE Alfred Collins (Bastrop Cedar Creek) will have his spot if he wants it. They aren't ruling out Texas taking four, but they don't think UT will be knocking down the door of DE Princely Umanmielen (Manor) now that Broughton and Fillinger are in.
Vito Corleone

Samples Dad is the coach at Duncanville. I think he is firmly in the Texas family, so I think we will be in good shape with his players moving forward. Still, I would love to get Samples back. We have two coaches on the offensive side that aren't very strong as recruiters. replacing either would be fantastic. I know Texas can out pay most every school out there for his services.

Cliffs?
Broughton:
Recruiting Broughton mom was vital. Mom is similar to mutha H in how involved she is. Giles was instrumental. Similar to Solomon Thomas with more length. Needs to reshape a little and work on hands.
Van fillinger: (filling-er, not “fill-engine-r”)
Great culture fit. High upside. Will take a minute to develop his natural abilities but Yancy has a ton to work with.
Collins:
Texas probably leads by at least a small margin. Will be a good DL class, great with Collins.
Princely U:
Will take him if he wants in but Fillinger likely took spot. Less likely to recruit if/when Collins commits.
Dorbah:
will be B-backer. Ossai should be a huge contributor next year and Dorbah will be in that schematic fit in a few years.
CTJr:
Could play all safety positions (field, boundary, joker). B.J. foster type fit. Texas/Auburn battle. Would be surprised if it’s not UT.
Lindberg:
Still undecided. Really likes LSU. Been silent lately. Was a lock (silent) at one point but backed off. Don’t assume hes going to end up here. Andrej Karic (https://247sports.com/player/andrej-karic-46050370/ (https://247sports.com/player/andrej-karic-46050370/)) is backup plan. Not big deal bc 21’ is loaded at OL. Texas has done everything they can to get him to commit. Told him they were offering Andrej when chad took trip to UGA. In a good position but staff wants it to end soon. Stressed that Texas has offered him everything and done all they can do and if chad goes elsewhere then he was never coming.
Milroe/Stone:
Milroe seems to be the guy. Better fit than Stone. He’s number 1 on UF/FSU board. If Milroe is the guy it will happen this week. Decent arm, great legs. Needs mechanics work. Expect to see his ranking to rise senior year. Much higher ceiling.
Stone has an outstanding arm. Decent mobility. Stone is going to take care of himself in this process. Will only go to a school where the path to Qb1 is very clear.
(Stones dad seems to want guarantees but Preston prob isn’t good enough to get any from Texas.) His arm is just so special.
Milroe prob the guy that’s going to keep his head down and get to work where Stone is prob going to need attention.
Odds & Ends:
Texas has gained momentum but will not get impatient. Staff will stick to their board

TEs can project at different positions so who knows but I wonder how this might affect the McRee commitment

Stone:
Stone has an outstanding arm. Decent mobility. Stone is going to take care of himself in this process. Will only go to a school where the path to Qb1 is very clear.
(Stones dad seems to want guarantees but Preston prob isn’t good enough to get any from Texas.) His arm is just so special.
Milroe prob the guy that’s going to keep his head down and get to work where Stone is prob going to need attention.

I would add that IT thinks we love Stone’s arm. He can make all the throws so all routes are available for use.
But that he might not have the same drive as Milroe.
Thats what I felt too. Seems like Stone is kind of a kid that’s going to require special attention and expect certain things. IT kinda made it sound as if the kid and his dad may be a handful and weren’t sure if the “juice is worth the squeeze” so to speak.
Why does this have a Garrett Gilbert feel to it?

Texas wants both and won't take a TE in 2020, so all good.
