Feel awful for KD. Really do. He’s a great player and going to the Warriors sucked, but he was no doubt important. GS was still great without him, but unbeatable with him.

Hope it’s not fully ruptured. If it is, KD has a big decision to make. If a team will give him the max, no reason to exercise his option. I think a team would probably do it to, but it’s a big risk.

He can obviously be safe, stay with GS one year while making 30M and rehab fully with no pressure and then hit FA the following year. But if he does not exercise that option, the watch is on for if someone max’s him out

Which is a "wear and tear" injury usually from a compounding injuries, fatigue or built up stress. He could have ruptured during the summer, while in training camp or the preseason (like DeJounte).

Instead, it helped while trying to be a leader (which has been his biggest issue) and win another title. Too bad Quitter didn't show the same heart or desire when he was "rehabbing" while his teammates fought to make the playoffs (and were swept).

It doesn’t. Whether KD stays or goes, GS really doesn’t have any means to improve their team all that much. If they lose Klay/KD? Then maybe they can get some flexibility soon. But barring that, even if they just re-sign Klay and KD is gone they are locked into that team (barring a trade) for another year.

2021 is different though. Without KD, they can have Curry/Klay under contract and virtually no one else (or of course they could re-sign Draymond again)

The ball dont lie...KD sold his soul joining a 73 win team. I dont wish that kinda injury on him i honestly dont. But its kinda karma-ish for ruining the league the last few years.

Interesting take. It very well could be Karma. This may have been the payback for doing what he did (joining an already pretty stacked 73 win team). The basketball gods may have had this is mind all along (if you believe in this kind of stuff). He got two Championships, won 2 x finals MVP, but this may have been what he owed them for that. I watched the game last night and I'm still trying to figure out something. Durant had a strained calf and played injured and it did not work out. But he actually cared enough to go out there at less than 100% - he is a pro basketball player who is payed to actually play basketball. Is KD still a jerk and a beta? Of course, but he showed up and acted like he wanted to be an asset and help the team out. If his knucklehead teammates had played better in games 3 and 4, maybe he would not have rushed back.

I'm still waiting for the Raptors and the "group" to specifically say what the actual injury is to #2. Load management is not an injury. Was there ever an injury outside of the sprained ankle the last 2 years? The sports "media" is too lazy, scared, or stupid (probably all three) to try and dig into a situation and truthfully explain why a guy skips an entire season due to a sore leg. Given how the media in general behaves today, I am not surprised.

Rumor is Uncle Dennis had told shoe companies prior to the trade that Kawhi will be in LA and thus turned down the extension with Jordan? And it would make perfect sense why Nate Robinson went on ESPN and said he heard "a bag" was coming. Apparently Dennis communicated with Magic and Pelinka to find a way to get Nephew to the Lakers, saying Spurs don't know what he got planned

Apparently Uncle Dennis requested a front office position from the Spurs (I know that's common knowledge among Spurs fans) for an entire year so they can RETAIN KAWHI and wanted to have a seperate area on team flights for himself and Nephew. The Spurs declined and it seems that they didn't do so in a nice, respectful manner. So maybe that's where the "disrespect" happened. Not towards Kawhi, but towards Uncle Dennis who's the one pulling the strings here anyway. Dennis tried to strong arm the Spurs and when they didn't give in, that caused the rift. Who misses an entire season without a major injury? He never had one. No surgery required. No broken bones etc.. If you are blowing off 1 whole year, you better have a serious injury..

Team doctors are not employees. They are consultants. They all have practices outside of the team seeing every normal patients.

No doctor is going to risk doing what the team wants because the team wants it. They still have a moral obligation to the patient and if the risk of malpractice is much higher dealing with professional athletes, esp like Kwahi, et al. That if they purposely sent them out knowing they were injured, it could end that doctor's career.

Nothing is exact science in medicine and at some point each person has to take personal responsibility for their actions. Case in point with KD. I'm sure he was warned about the risks of playing last night. But it was *his* decision to suit up and play.

IT made the same decisions while in Boston. From what I remember, he has FAI, a congenital condition that results in early osteoarthritis, only made worse by the heavy pounding of playing professionally. Also leads to labral tears. Only treatment I know of is an osteotomy which probably would have ended his career or set it back years. Nature altered the course of his career, not medicine, not the celtics.

Team doctors are not employees. They are consultants. They all have practices outside of the team seeing every normal patients.

No doctor is going to risk doing what the team wants because the team wants it. They still have a moral obligation to the patient and if the risk of malpractice is much higher dealing with professional athletes, esp like Kwahi, et al. That if they purposely sent them out knowing they were injured, it could end that doctor's career.

Nothing is exact science in medicine and at some point each person has to take personal responsibility for their actions. Case in point with KD. I'm sure he was warned about the risks of playing last night. But it was *his* decision to suit up and play.

IT made the same decisions while in Boston. From what I remember, he has FAI, a congenital condition that results in early osteoarthritis, only made worse by the heavy pounding of playing professionally. Also leads to labral tears. The more i think about kawhi and see everything that going on. I think Kawhi just got caught up in family drama. Came down to family or spurs, and like most people he choose family.
