Thief is such a great little game. Bought it again for the PS4. (Currently playing on PS5)

it’s only 3 bucks so you guys should do yourselves a favor if you haven’t played it. Beating each chapters in full stealth is a great feeling.

I always think of Just Cause when Far Cry gets brought up. They're a carbon copy of each other.

I thought you hated multiplayer games? The “solo” mode in this game is complete and utter garbage. Or so I’ve heard.

Most complaints I’ve heard and come up in discussions is that it disables all types of game progression. Essentially making the mode a testing mode since you can’t earn skill points, trophies, etc. Makes me wonder why even make a so called solo mode.

Best part of Game Pass is that it extends to PC, so i can download games from the Microsoft Store on my PC as well as the Xbox. i think it's like 15 bucks a month and since it includes xbox live gold with it, its a decent service. many times i've bought a game only to realize i could have just played it on Game Pass, now i always double check.

Ghost of Tsushima is pretty killer on PS5 at 60 fps. Much more fun to go in loud and challenge everyone, as the standoff mechanic where you're timing counters is pretty cool while the stealth feels like Xbox 360 AC. JP voices are way better too IMO. Jin Sakai sounds too nice and calm in English, but sounds mad as fuck like in a Kurosawa movie with the JP voices.

Only Metroids I have played are the NES and Famicom Disk System original (FDS has much better sound) and the Game Boy one that AM2R is based off of. Don't know why I never played Super Metroid considering how much I enjoyed the first two. I really played the shit out of Metroid II on Game Boy when it came out.

Took me until a couple of months ago to play Castlevania Symphony of the Night for the first time (and fucking loved it), so maybe I should make Super Metroid one of my early 2022 games. No chance I'll play it in 2021 since I'm currently playing the very long Yakuza 5 and will jump immediately into Shin Megami Tensei V after that (SMT V was the whole reason I bought a Switch).

I love the story of Ghost of Tsushima where you become the personification of the typhoon that wiped out the Mongols when they tried to invade Japan. Other than Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart 2021 has been a terrible year for pretty much all of gaming, but February is going to be nuts with the new Horizon, Dying Light 2, and especially Elden Ring. Otherwise, why aren’t there more advanced engines that are PS5 ready? It’s weird to me that it doesn’t feel like there’s been a noticeable difference between the ps4 and ps5 experience.

Hasn't been officially released yet. Teams are building games with it, but licensees are not allowed to release games with it yet. Plus, frankly, it's still a bit buggy and lacking optimizations in certain areas.

It's also not uncommon to take a couple of years to start really getting the best out of the hardware. Most of these engines are not full rewrites, they're gradual updates incorporating new tech, and some of them need to be retooled fairly drastically to support new pipelines.

It'll get substantially better, but it'll take some time.

Finally playing Ghost of Tsushima again. I've been incredibly hard on this game, because the open world aspect is so poorly done IMO and all of the side quests are repetitive and offer next to nothing for your time. So I decided to just focus on the main quest line and the companion quests instead of clearing the map, and it's actually pretty good now that I've gotten into the meat of the story.

Really? I thought the oposite.

Side quests are actually pretty engaging as it delves into personal quarrels between bandits, family, betrayal and so on. Lots of variaty. Even mythical ones.

At least do the mythic tales as those will get you powerful techniques, new swords and armors which will make the game even more awesome as you make mince meat out of the enemy. The heavenly strike for instance is a must if you want to end group fights in seconds.

Don't know what to tell you, the vast majority of the game is boring. I can dedicate only so much time to riding a horse over mostly empty countryside to complete a cookie cutter quest, chase a fox, or take a bath for the 20th time.

Just buy it online. They usually have free shipping on games. They'll have Deathloop for $25 too. I would pick that up if I didn't have three games I really want to play coming in February plus Shin Megami Tensei V right now. But seeing how deep it'll go in my backlog I'll wait for $15 or $20 on Deathloop. Oh and they'll have AC Valhalla PS5 for $20 also.

Best Buy has RE8 from $20 right now. Rift Apart is $50. Miles Morales is $30 everywhere and Miles Morales Ultimate is $50 I think. Well, as someone who owned the OG Xbox and played CE when it came out in 2001, played it on PC online, and spent countless hours playing Halo 2 when it came out in high school...IMO Halo 4 if the top tier of all Halo games, but that is a highly unpopular opinion amongst Halo fans. but i've also read almost all of the novels, so my love of that game is because of how they expanded the lore and story. So i'd say it's the best MP since Halo 4, and top 3 overall along with 4 and probably Halo 2. A lot of ppl didnt like Halo 4 MP because of the loadouts and armor abilities but i thought that shit was fun as hell. too many crybabies bitched about it which is how we ended up with the abortion that is Halo 5. glad 343 is getting back on track

So I was ordered to buy a XBox Series X + games at work and get reimbursed for it. Any tips of how to get your hands on one of dem at MSRP?

Easiest way is to do the XBox Series X All Access, which is where you finance a Series X for $34.99 a month for 24 months (0% APR) and it comes with XBox Games Pass Ultimate for 24 months. So basically you're paying MSRP for the system and then a tiny bit less than MSRP for two years of Game Pass Ultimate. Not the greatest deal since you can often find Game Pass Ultimate cheaper than the $14.99 a month MSRP, but better than paying scalpers. And a bunch of Series X got set aside for it since it gets people to buy two years of game pass at near full MSRP. For instance, Best Buy shows it being available right now with the system ready for pickup in 6 days if you pass the credit check.

Your other options are probably to buy a Walmart+ subscription and then buy a Series X on Monday when it becomes available for Walmart+ subscribers, or buy the Best Buy Total Tech membership to get first crack at their Series X releases (probably on Black Friday). Or you could line up at Gamestop on Thanksgiving to get one. Or you could get Gamestop's Power Up Rewards Pro or whatever it's called and try to buy a Series X bundle in one of their drops. Though I think the Thanksgiving drops will be in store. Not quite sure.

You're not getting one for MSRP without either lining up early for Thanksgiving or watching restocks with a hawkeye though most likely.

Yeah you're right. Guess I'm just surprised this was literally the only time I have ever seen a good B2G1 deal. Target does B2G1 deals all the time but they're terrible because they'll jack up the price of a bunch of games to $60 or $70 when they do it so you get no savings, you just buy 3x as much. Same with amazon. But this one was really nice since the promotion was done on top of good sale prices. The fact they closed the sale down so quickly makes me think they must have realized they were losing a bunch of money on it from online orders (sale went live at around midnight and was dead by noon Friday morning).

Heard it sucks in comparison to the Left 4 Dead series.

- Miles Morales

Short if you're just talking Miles Morales. Though if you haven't played Spiderman on PS4, highly worth getting the ultimate edition, as Spiderman PS5 at 60 fps with raytracing is really impressive. Great action too.

- Guardians of the Galaxy

Reviews look great, community feedback is really positive, so figured I'd give it a try at $25 from Walmart (I think Gamestop has this price too).

- Elder Scrolls

Have you never played Skyrim? Amazing game, but it's from 2011 so will look really dated now that we're nearing 2022.

- Doom Eternal

Not my style of game but generally viewed very favorably by people who like fast action fps.

- Hitman III

I hate the Hitman games so haven't paid any attention to whether or not this one is good.

JFC this is $25 at Walmart for PS5 so couldn't resist picking it up when grabbing some groceries today. Looks pretty great in reviews I have seen. God I have gotten so many games this BF season.

very solid, thats a steal at 25 bucks. :tu i'm sure it will be awhile before you get to it though :lol

i havent beaten it yet but i'm toward the end. really solid linear story game which we don't get much of these days as far as AAA titles go. i've been putting off finishing it because i dont want to be done with it

Looking at the PS5 BF Sale - what are the collective thoughts on

- Back for Blood
- Miles Morales
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- Elder Scrolls
- Doom Eternal
- Hitman III

-Meh, basically a new gen version of Left 4 dead but not as good. not terrible but i wouldnt pay for it

-Solid but pretty short main story

-best game i've played in awhile, very good pickup at 25 bucks

-if you've never played any ES game its worth it, but if you've already played it, not worth. upgrades are very minimal

-not as good as the first but still good, very fast paced FPS

-never played part 3 but i've played the first 2, they are fun but it's one of those games where you need to be really into doing stealth shit and enjoy replaying the levels in different ways to get max enjoyment. not really my thing

- Back for Blood

Been playing it, but it's really multiplayer only. Can range from meh to great if you have friends to play with.

- Miles Morales

More of the same, but that's not a bad thing if you liked Spiderman on PS4. I enjoyed it.

- Guardians of the Galaxy

It was surprisingly fun. Funny dialog, good 80s music. Combat was good, but it can get a bit repetitive at times. No replay value, but it was good.

- Elder Scrolls

Haven't had time to look at it yet.

- Doom Eternal

It was the fucking tits. One of my favorite games from last year. Runs smooth as hell as well.

- Hitman III

Another more of the same. I always been a fan of the series, but this one wasn't as enjoyable this time around. Lots of nickel and diming as well, with the levels.

Miles Morales is too expensive for what the game is, a glorified DLC. How that game is still going for 50 bucks is beyond me.

Hitman always intrigued me though I have never played it. Stealth games are my jam but I cant quite commit to this series since IO Interactive makes their game work online only (Only saves progress while connected) so that has always kept me away from it.

I have only played Far Cry 3 and 4. They're not NieR Automata, God of War, or Persona 5, but they're a lot of fun. Between FC3 and FC4, most people like 3 better. Probably mostly because it came out earlier, but it also has an incredible VA performance by Michael Mando (Nacho on Better Call Saul). I liked 4 better because I liked the mountain scenery of 4 a lot more than the beach setting of 3, the story was more interesting in 4 IMO, and the tower climbs were better in 4.

If you find you like these, I highly recommend checking out Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon on PS3. It's this wild 1980s movie view of a dystopian future.

I wouldn't sweat missing the Crysis bundle. Crysis 1 is an awesome game. Crysis 3 is dogshit, it was a terrible game that only ever got popular on PC for having really high end graphics for the time. But we're talking high end PC graphics for 2013, not anything that's going to blow you away in 2021 on PS5. Haven't played 2 so can't comment on it.

Tell me you have played the Bioshock games, those are incredible if you're looking for single player FPS. The trilogy isn't on sale now but goes on sale all the time. Also Doom 2016 is $6 right now if you haven't played it and is supposed to be amazing for people who enjoy those style of games. Prey is another game shooter fans seem to love and it's $12 in this sale.

I definitely have. I played the first Bioshock and quit because I felt it was...boring?

Tried it again years later and beat it. Skipped the second game and played Bioshock Infinite while it was going for free on PS+ years ago. That Prey game is always going on sale as a bundle with the Dishonored games so I never pay attention to it having not only played those games but having them still.

Dude the Ocarina decompilation was almost finished last time I heard about it a couple of weeks ago. Very likely we'll have a really high quality PC native port within the next year just like we have with Super Mario 64 right now. If you haven't played the PC native Super Mario 64, it is outstanding and far superior to the version Nintendo released on the Switch for Super Mario 3D AllStars. Has modern dual stick control and even raytracing.

Assassins Creed Odyssey is awful. The side quests and quests in general are incredibly long and on top of that, boring.

I really hate starting a quest just to be told I need to go to an entirely different island to complete it. And all for shitty armors that isn’t even worth it. I’d play the main missions only if it wasn’t for the retarded leveling system in this game that forces you to play side stuff just so you can get to a certain level.

Anyone tried Days Gone?

I tried it when it came out and couldn’t get into it, other people love it though. I might give it another try at some point.

I like killing zombies but I don't care for a forced storyline unless there's an open world at the end, like GTA V and RDR.

Same.

Found the characters too one dimensional and boring. The world around is also pretty empty and plain. 5 hours is all I gave it.

Started playing the Ikishima expansion to Ghost of Tsushima and time just flies in it the same way it did in the base game, already played like 4 hours of it today. Just more of the same so far other than having to kill shamans quickly since they buff their allies. Feels short though, like I could finish this expansion in a few days.

You think AC is shitty now, wait until the next one that's going to be a fucking live service.

You were right. Valhalla is making me actually like Odissey.

It's actually way more fun. The combat is way more fluid there than Valhalla. Valhalla feels clunky and slow. I want to kill myself but I'm 60 hours in and no way out. I'm ain't buying another Bugsoft game ever.

I’m actually fed up with zombie shit, and that’s a big reason for me to tune it out. It’s not just this game, dying light was the same for me (and I know a bunch of posters swear by it here). The horror genre in general I just can’t enjoy in video games or TV/series. It is me though, not the products.

Horror games work best when constructed linearly and is narratively cohesive. Dead Space and Aliens do a great job at building suspense and having a great story to support it.

Not really into open world zombie apocalypse games either.

Only zombie game I ever played was 7DTD. I like the sandbox world except that it all gets erased every time they update the game. My ideal zombie game would marry with a game like Elite Dangerous and you'd be a galactic zombie infestation exterminator. Basically go to a planet, land in a safe enough zone and start wrecking house. Then you could build the place back with transports and such, and off to the next one. Of course you'd be able to leave the planet if shit got too hairy. It would take a lot of processing power and storage space, otherwise it would be repetitive as fuck.

Zombies just waaaaaaay overdone. Even COD had its zombie mode. I call it The Walking Dead effect. The problem too is that zombies are supposed to be Qtard-level retards, but now you have some that would win an obstacle course at the Olympics.

Replace zombies with semi-smart aliens and I’m probably hooked.

Don't think you could make a game shooting mojados at the river in 2022 tbh

Just finished the Iki Island expansion for Ghost of Tsushima. I'd give it a 7/10. Fun but short, not a must play like the base game is but if you want more Ghost of Tsushima it'll give you 15-20 more hours with an interesting story. Beautiful graphically, especially in areas with lots of cherry blossom trees.

There are some great horror games.tbqh. but most of the great ones are not mainstream.

Yeah I don’t expect much from these games. They’re more for palate cleansing than anything. Been playing too many RPGs so I need to cool things down with something easy to pick up and put down without blood, sweat and tears.

Been playing Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart the last couple of days and it's just not hooking me, not like the PS4 game did. Don't really see where the graphics are all that impressive either, at least not compared to Ghost of Tsushima or Spiderman Remastered, which are still the two best looking games I have played on the PS5. Oh well, only spent $10 on it. The hair effects are cool and look way better than Hairworks on The Witcher 3 for example, but game is a bit underwhelming so far and not blown away by the raytracing like say in Control or Spiderman Remastered. Not really seeing where the 9/10 reviews came from so far, though I'm probably only about 10% in, maybe it gets better.

Finally beat AC Valhalla. Clocked in at 95 hours.

I’d say I need an additional 10-15 hours to mop up.

Was the campaign decent story wise at least?

No. Not at all.

Game has so many arcs you forget what the main story even is about. They all end up with you raiding a castle and killing X person. Massive copy paste job.

I thought it was okay. I was expecting to be blown away by the graphics but it was alright, imo tbh. I guess I bought into the hype. I felt there wasn't much boss/enemy variety. Demons souls on the other hand was amazing.

Yeah the graphics are nice but Spiderman Remastered and Ghost of Tsushima were the games that blew me away graphically on PS5. Gameplay has become a lot of fun. Well except when it turns out one of the trophies is missable because an elevator gets shut down after you beat the boss on one of the planets and it requires some difficult jumps to get back in the area.

Yeah I agree. I liked Miles Morales but it felt like a fucking DLC. I'm currently on Iki Island and I'm thoroughly enjoying it as well as the legends mode. Sadly I burned through my backlog a lot faster than I anticipated. I need more PS5 games to drop.

Might have to wait for Days of Play to get good sale prices again. I went nuts buying stuff around Thanksgiving when there were some great sales.

Good riddance to this bitch ass shitty, buggy game. I can honestly say this has been the only game I have played for more than 100 hours. 132 hours is a Milestone for me. Not even persona 5 took me 100 hours to beat. (Admittedly I haven't platted that game)
