132 hours into a game you didn't like. I don't get it. Why?
You dont know that until you play it. And once you're 50 hours into a game, you better finish it.
I wasted too much time on this not to plat it. That's not how I work. Uneven trophy percentage numbers bother me a lot.

I wouldn't play Witcher 3 until the PS5 patch comes out if you're talking playing on console. Otherwise you'll be stuck with the 1080p 30fps PS4 version of the game. It's a cool game with lots of good side content but it's also enormous. I think I played it for like 5 or 6 months before finishing it. On PC it was the real gold standard for years graphically but we're talking about an almost 7 year-old game so not up to the standards of say Ghost of Tsushima on PS5. On a good PC you could turn on all kind of effects that really made the lighting and hair modeling look impressive, and the PS5 has enough horsepower to run the game in its full glory. Also CDPR was teasing raytracing being added too for the new consoles I think. With RT they might be able to get it up to or past the level of Tsushima's graphics. Or maybe they'll fuck shit up like they did with Cyberpunk. They have been teasing the PS5 patch forever.

5 to 6 months? Are you one of those players who put in 30 minutes a session or something? :lol
I have the Witcher 3 goty edition that I bought years ago and haven’t touched it. Probably won’t either because at this point the controls are extremely outdated.

Most definitely. Witcher 3 is one of the best games i've ever played, probably the best honestly. it's combat is somewhat dated in 2022 but everything else is top tier, just a masterclass in storytelling and the level of depth in the quests is pretty incredible. i originally played it on PS4 and loved it but obviously if you have a PC, get it on there. still looks really nice on max settings
then again i also highly enjoyed shadow of Mordor and Shadow of war... :lol

Yeah no clue when that PS5 patch is supposed to come. It was supposed to be at some point of 2021 but CDPR has been screwing the pooch for the last couple of years now. Not a good time to start a huge game anyways with Elden Ring coming next month tbh. Will probably make me put off playing Dying Light 2 at launch too unless it just kills in reviews because I really want to jump on Elden Ring when it comes out.

They're still trying to fix their Cyberpunk fuck up. I think they’re on patch 3 of that. A game from 6 years ago is not going to be a priority for them considering their reputation is in tatters still.

They were stupid to promise raytracing when no is buying that game 7 years after release. All they had to do was unlock the framerate to 60 fps and include the 4k textures from the PC release and they'd have a great version of the game for PS5.

I was wrong. Turns out the PS4 Pro version of The Witcher 3 renders at 1920x2160 and then upscales that to 3840x2160 with checkerboarding. Still 30 fps though.

i enjoyed witcher 3... and i do like that even a lot of the side content/quests had solidly written storylines. then again, at some point it became a slog. i started just mashing x to skip through the dialogue for certain portions because it was just getting too damn long. something about dandelion and king of beggars and djikstra and zzzzzzzzzzzz
the combat was ok. a little dated maybe, but i still enjoyed it for the most part. i did get pretty bored of having to cycle through weapons/armor so frequently though because every few minutes you find a random weapon that totally outclasses the one you were super excited about 10 minutes ago. had the same complaints about AC Odyssey. i think odyssey's combat was actually more fun, but its writing was much much worse.
unlike most people, i dont see witcher 3 as one of the 5 or 10 greatest games of all time. i dont think i ever see myself replaying it. its still definitely worth a buy and playthrough especially if you are looking to stall while waiting for something specific.

Most people who really rate Witcher 3 highly played it on PC. This game was super impressive graphically in early 2015 using lighting on par with Ghost of Tsushimas, using hair modeling almost as good as that in Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, and it was really well optimized on top of that. Well, for PC it was. It was the one big AAA game that really made great use of higher end PC hardware.
I don't know that I'd rate it top 10 for last gen much less all time though.

Conversely, playing Yakuza 6 on PC (PS5 stuck on 30 fps :pctoss) and it's a pretty piss poor PC port tbh. Badly needs some form of TAA as the antialiasing is horrific and game runs like crap. Game is still good though, just have to render it at a lousy 1200p to get 60 fps on my 1660 Super and it has aliasing that would have been embarrassing on the PS3.

Highly recommend doing the game on Give Me a Challenge difficulty. It's hard at first but you get used to it and unlike most games when setting the difficulty to hard, the enemies don't become damage sponges, they just become more interesting fights. Highly recommend doing all the valkyrie fights too. As great as RDR2 was, God of War was the one that won the GOTY awards, and rightfully so.

That's exactly what I thought when I first tried Bloodborne, only played it because I had already beaten the exclusives I bought my PS4 for (Uncharted 1-4 and The Last of Us) and Horizon Zero Dawn was still a month from coming out, and thus Bloodborne was the only good exclusive left at the time. But despite me hating it at first for the difficulty even though I was already hooked by the combat, within maybe five hours I started recognizing it was a masterpiece.

I've read a decent amount of early reviews and the general thought it is true the fundamentals of the original while improving across the board gameplay wise (didn't read much about the story). considering the main draw of DL is hacking and dismembering zombies i would assume keeping the OG fundamentals means we will have plenty of zombies to mutilate

Sucks too because iirc the first DL has been putting out DLC until pretty recently and it was all free I think except for the Following questline (i could be wrong though).

It was nice playing Ghost of Tsushima without a bunch of frame drops (it's supposed to be kind of lousy on base PS4) and a game like Spiderman with fast movement benefits a lot from playing at 60 fps. PS5 has pretty much invalidated PC for me as a gaming platform other than last gen games that didn't get 60 fps PS5 patches since it does what I used to pay twice as much to do on PC, namely playing games at a smooth 60 fps. I have had a blast getting the best of both worlds, namely Playstation exclusives and PC performance, this last year. While 2021 wasn't a very good year for game releases it's the most fun I have had with gaming since 2017.
Don't even think I'll do a PC upgrade for the next 3 years or so unless my cpu or board dies on me, as the consoles are such great value this gen.

Do you have a monitor that can do 120Hz or a legitimate 120 Hz TV? Not talking about a 60 Hz TV that does frame interpolation to add frames. If you have that turn that shit off and play the game at 60 Hz because 120 Hz modes on 60 Hz TVs introduce a ton of input lag.

You play on a monitor or TV? Now that I moved to a 28 inch 4k monitor I'm impressed how night and day better 1440p looks than 1080p but I can't tell much difference between 1440p and 2160p other than framerate tanking. Figure might need a monitor 32 inch or larger for 2160p to really distinguish itself from 1440p.

I use a DP cable too (only way to get GSync) and 1440p/2160p look pretty similar to me IMO. I think the biggest gamechanger is GSync/FreeSync. Now not having to target 60 fps minimums for VSync to eliminate tearing is huge.

Low end HDMI cables can only do 4k30. HDMI cable quality didn't matter when everyone was using 720p and 1080p, but at 4k it does. It's not too expensive to get 4K60 HDMI cables, don't need to buy overpriced bullshit like Monster Cables, but you'll still lose GSync using HDMI so will see any frame drops below 60 show up as stutters or tears on HDMI, whereas with FreeSync/GSync turned on on your monitor and GSync turned on for your gpu you won't get either stutter or tearing between around 40-144fps, depending on your monitor. Of course assuming your monitor was made in the last 5 years or so, as there is pretty much no monitor other than cheap office crap made these days that doesn't support at least FreeSync.

Ubisoft has become the very definition of quantity over quality. The AC franchise hasn't had any type of direction for a while. It's just how fast they can release games, how big they can make them, and how many microtransactions they can sell.
Beyond that, I think I'm just getting tired of these massive open-world games with 100+ hour run times.

You know, the RPG elements, equipment, and enemy scaling in Odyssey was so fucked up, the changes in Valhalla are actually welcome. Equipment actually lasts until you're ready to use something new. But now there's an opposite problem with the enemy scaling. Just by exploring a little, I've completely outleveled the main mission areas and combat has become laughably easy. Eivor is like Wolverine, nothing hurts him. I know there are options to change the enemy scaling, I haven't messed with it though. But then why should I need to? Learning new moves and shit is one thing, but a game like this shouldn't allow you to become invincible. There's no reason for this to be an RPG at all.

That's not to say the GoW doesn't have a great and deep combat system, but it's just the whole package. Story, exploration, just flat out great looks.

I haven't played Nioh 2, but Nioh 1 is nowhere near as good as Sekiro. Nioh 1 has some really cheap fights thanks to the sloth talisman.

No. I'll probably do Horizon first. Just not in the mood for grind, crafting, and the game looks huge.
Looking for something more like a linear story, a good tale. We'll see what Horizon brings, tbh, haven't played it yet either.

Just finished the Wrecked Ship in Super Metroid so I think I'm not too far from beating it. I don't know, game is good but I don't see the hype about it being the best SNES game ever made. Don't think it's in the same class as Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV and VI, Zelda A Link to the Past, F-Zero, Donkey Kong Country, Super Castlevania IV, Super Mario RPG, Street Fighter II Turbo, and Actraiser, which I consider the S-Tier and A-Tier of the SNES. I think I'd put Super Metroid in the B-Tier myself, with games like the Dragon Quest I & II remasters, Shadowrun, Yoshi's Island, Super Punchout, Earthbound, Mario Kart, Starfox, Turtles in Time, Mortal Kombat II, Mega Man X, etc.

I haven’t played it either but even I can say it’s not the best snes game. You can’t fuck with any Mario game in that era.
Mega Man and Street fighter are god tier as well. Lots of good games on your list I would personally put way ahead of Metroid too.
Why are digital copies of games more expensive than a physical copy? Guardians of the Galaxy is going for 35 and 40 dollars depending on where you look but at full price in the PS store. Same for FF7 remake.
Thinking of picking either Galaxy or FF7 along with Horizon in a few weeks.

Because physical copies are probably sold wholesale at a discount to companies like Amazon, Walmart, etc since they have to buy and keep inventory, something that doesn't exist in digital.
Some of these companies will also sell them at a discount as loss leaders...

There is a ton of competition for physical game sales. I can buy games physically from Amazon, Walmart, Gamestop, Target, Best Buy, Newegg, and they're trying to one up each other all the time. Lots of time to get you into stores, like Nono was saying above about loss leaders. Whereas there is only one place I can buy a digital Playstation game: namely, PSN.
Furthermore, I don't think Sony can undercut other retailers in the first year or two a game is out or they'd probably refuse to stock Playstation games. Whenever a newish game gets a discount on PSN it's usually an MSRP cut overall that applies on physical too.
You missed out on Guardians of the Galaxy. I picked that up for $25 from Walmart around Black Friday, though Gamestop and Amazon had that price then too. Also it was on sale on PSN for $39 around Christmastime. They jack the prices back up when the holiday sales are over.
FFVIIR Intergrade PS5 was also $39 on PSN around Christmas. Might not see those kind of prices again on PSN until the big Midyear Sale in July.

I'll have to revisit in a few months when hopefully the crippling bugs and performance issues are fixed, but not paying full price to play something broken now.
Also hate the idea of missions basically being on a timer where you turn into a zombie if you don't get back to your UV light on time. Sounds like such a stupid game mechanic and I hate being rushed all the time in an open world game. God damn, and I loved the first game so much but this looks so disappointing.

I'm maybe 2-3 hours in so hard to comment on a lot of the issues you mentioned before but so far, it's solid. Obvious graphical improvements though definitely nothing mind blowing. parkour is awesome as always, they have added some additional features to try and emphasize parkour combat. Storys ok thus far but again i'm not very far in. enjoyed the bit of traversing i did, experienced the familiar dread of being chased at night by a volatile. combat seems typical, though combat against humans seems a little easier than previous game as there is now a timed parry mechanic that stuns human enemies momentarily
one thing that annoyed me early is forced combat tutorials - where the game forces you to execute a certain move 3 times before moving on. not a big deal but just kind of a pet peeve of mine. the timer thing seems like it only matters at night, so during day time exploration it's not an issue at all. So far so good
i should be able to get a solid chunk of playing time in tonight and probably tomorrow so if the game does suck i'm sure i'll find out soon enough :lol

It murders gpus. Here is gamegpu.ru's benchmark area for it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of-SpxiANLI
At 1080p high with no RT they only have a 1070 pulling 43 fps average and even a 2060 Super only gets to 58 fps.
https://gamegpu.com/action-/-fps-/-tps/dying-light-2-stay-human-test-gpu-cpu
I'm personally not buying until it hits $30 since it only runs 1080p60 on PS5, which is ridiculous since PS5 has around a 2070 Super level gpu.

With a 1060 Digital Foundry had to cut settings to the bone and cut resolution to between 768p and 900p to get a steady 60 fps in the beginning of the game. The optimization is horrible. They discuss the 1060 and RX 580 at around the 23:30 mark:

Enjoying the hell out of Dying Light 2 so far tbh. story is a bit wonky but the gameplay is just so enjoyable. the immunity thing hasn't been much of an issue thus far. there are plenty of UV shrooms laying around that boost your immunity time so i havent even come close to turning yet. Playing on hard but hasn't been overly difficult but the game does like throwing a lot of human enemies at you at once.

Better have a hefty gpu if you want to compare on PC. GTX 1080 can't even lock to 1080p50 on high settings much less 1080p60.

It's pretty good, but damn it's quite a bit tougher than Sekiro IMO. Sometimes I feel like I'm just running around the map to get away from large groups and snipe a hit or two once I can separate someone for a couple of seconds, but that has downsides too because if you don't finish with strong combos you don't get any chance to replenish health. The only way you get health back is doing combos that allow you to do finishing moves on enemies.
Kind of not sure what I think of it so far. The combat is fun though the dodges are hard to execute IMO and the parry timing is very unforgiving. Parry timing was tough in Sekiro too but the dodging where you have to hold R1 and then move the thumbstick anticipating the direction of attack has been pretty hard to get used to for me.
I think I'd like this game more with standard checkpoints instead of requiring you to make long runs of complete levels. Can't say I'm a fan of roguelike game design after starting this, which also makes me think I wouldn't be much of a fan of Returnal. It's addicting though, prob just need to git gud.

I'd skip Dying Light 2 until they fix the zombie ragdolls. Two of the most fun things in the original were kicking zombies off roofs and watching them flail to their deaths and smashing zombies into spikes, and they're both broken in DL2.

Do you like it as much as the first?
A difficult question to answer. DL is probably in my top 10-15 all time, and was the biggest gaming surprise for me in like the last decade (I fully expected it to suck balls like Dead island). I'd say, so far, I'm either about the same level of enjoyment or maybe slightly lower. there are some things i prefer in the first (like you said, zombie physics in 1 are much better) but nothing so egregious that i wouldn't recommend playing it. some of the changes are awesome, like the paraglider for example. you can also attach like 3 different weapon mods to a single weapon in this game. broken weapons are somewhat annoying but honestly has not even been much of an issue, at least in the early game since youre constantly finding better weapons.
i also do not like that there is gear in this game...unless im remembering wrong, i dont recall there being headware/gloves/legwear/chestwear/etc for your character that improved stats, just outfits. Not a fan of this particular aspect but its not that big of a deal

First phase against the botanist is relatively easy, just gotta duck his kicks to the head. Second phase is more difficult when he jumps into the bamboo since he does a machete attack that takes a lot of HP off you if it lands and it's hard to avoid unless you just run away and put some distance between you and him. When he's on the ground though it's pretty similar to the first phase, just duck under his high kicks mostly, though now he usually does three instead of one.

Sifu is kicking the shit out of me lol. I have almost half the moves permanently unlocked but have only been able get to the second phase of the fight against Sean in the club (second stage). Was able to get to stage 2 at age 22 but even with the shortcut unlocked you have a 10 on one fight, one kind of tough miniboss, then two pretty tough minibosses at the same time in an arena where you can't really get them separated well. Then the first phase of the boss fight drains your structure like hell if you block instead of guess the dodge direction correctly.

Yeah it’s one of those games you wait for deep discount. I got a couple of heavy weights coming in that will take half the year or probably all of it.

Yeah I'm stuck at Sean in The Club too. I got him into the second stage of the fight and then got his structure bar half full but that was it. Think I have to learn how to string shoves and throws into my combos to get past him.
Honestly feels tougher than anything I experienced in Sekiro, though I never beat Sekiro. Really gotta go back and play that.

I quit Sekiro pretty early, was just too damn hard for me, and the story/visuals didn't really attract me.
Sifu looked more approachable on the first level, and I though the difficulty rampup would be more nuanced, but by the time you get to the Club, shit ratcheted up quickly.
Some of these games really need a difficulty setting. Sometimes I just want to play the game, not become a master at it. Just don't have time to spend hours on end mastering the combat system to unlock the rest of the game.
This is something really underrated in God of War. By the time you get to the tougher Valkyries, you are pretty seasoned already. And, eventually, you can play the game in Give me GOW once you mastered the game difficulty more organically.

Honestly don't think this game would work with a lower difficulty setting. The combat is the point, it's not like it has an interesting story or great graphics or anything.

I haven't found leveling to help with boss fights. Unlocking things like sliding kicks is great for clearing out rooms of scrub enemies but boss fights just seem to be get good at dodging and/or parrying or keep dying.

To me the game started as a Vigilante (arcade) type of game, a bit of a evolved Yakuza with nice camera work... The paired animation for the finishers also kick ass. It has some arcadish feel to it to begin with, which I welcomed.
But that went away pretty quickly once you got to the Club.

Due to how the game is structured with age, some of those encounters with scrubs become pretty important. I found using weapons (pipe, sticks) actually help a lot, but without good dodge/parry timing, you're really not going far.

Ugh got to Sean at age 22, beat his first form pretty easily from dodging his staff attacks, hit once with weak attack, throwing him into the supports, sweeping, doing ground attack, then a couple of punches, and then when I can get the focus meter to 1 bar doing a strong sweep, ground attack, and a couple of punches, rinse and repeat and it's not too hard. But then in phase 2 of the fight he takes off more of your status bar for blocks and even when you dodge his shit you rarely get a throw opening so you mostly just have to dodge and build up focus and then do strong sweep and ground attack. Ugh hard to build up the focus meter quickly enough to survive that phase of the fight.

Weapons are great for fighting scrubs but I don't like using them on any hard enemy, eg a boss or miniboss, since that keeps you from doing throws and throwing people into shit or throwing them to setup the leg sweep is super useful. Throws are also great when you have a lot of enemies attacking at once and you can get somewhere high since you can throw them off balconies and shit for instant kills.

It's not like Souls games where you can dodge roll and snipe attacks and then get the hell out of there, this one really requires you to get in close and setup counters with bobbing and weaving like a boxer or with parrying. I still find it tougher than Sekiro or Bloodborne.

Yeah that's why I dont play the extreme hard games. I dont get the appeal of games that are made specifically to make you rage. First and foremost for me enjoyment is paramount. I can deal with hard difficulty settings as long as I know A, game is fun and worth it and B, game is smart about balancing fun and hard and C, game does a good job telling you you're the shitty player and not the game. :lol

Sifu is definitely the good hard though. Every once in a while I'll get a cheap death because the camera fucks up but most of the time it's because I got greedy with my attacks or dodged too early or dodged the wrong way or let the enemy drop my structure too much without me fleeing a bit to gain it back. It might have the best fighting mechanics of any game I have ever played, which keeps me coming back for more.

My issue with Sifu, and this is really a design problem, is the same I had with Sekiro. I play hours on end, and I don't feel I'm getting better. Worse, I still don't know how to evade or parry properly. Every once in a while I get it right, but feels random (it probably isn't, but goes to show I don't know what I'm doing).
The lack of an actual learning curve means I'm just stuck at 25% into the game, and I'm at the point where I'm looking how can I cheat to move forward (which I can't, so piles up additional frustration). There isn't a difficulty level where you get some sort of telegraphing of moves, etc... you can also balance it via your damage vs the enemy damage, etc.
I played GOW in normal difficulty, because I was interested in the story and the places, and while I wanted to have some amount of challenge, I didn't want it to hinder me from advancing in the game. By the time you get to the tough Valkyries fights, you're already organically seasoned and well equipped. Then, if you want, you can play it again in GMGOW difficulty, which actually ends up being your decision, not something the game forced on you.
Sekiro had the same discussion about difficulty back then. Glad to see the team adding a difficulty setting here, I want to enjoy the game a bit, not become a master at it.

I really don't see it being a design problem. You have a place to train without health bars in your home base and you just have to learn the enemys' attacks as well as your own, eg sweeps, shoves, throws, can't button mash this one. It has a pretty in-depth battle system that is really well executed and if you can recognize the attack coming the controls are responsive enough to evade or parry. It feels like you're asking for this to be a different game than it is. It's not God of War, I don't think people are playing Sifu because they like the characters, want to see what's next in the story, or admire an amazing world the developers built up. The challenging fighting is the entire point of the game.
Like in The Club when doing the first trial, first thing I do is smack that woman with the pipe and finish her off, then do the same to the guy next to her. Then I have ten people chasing me. Try to kill the first before the rest catch up, then start jumping between the two elevated areas to split the enemies up, then if I can get one briefly separated I'll dodge their attack, follow up with a weak attack and then throw them over the balcony, and keep doing that while the numbers are unmanageable with standard fighting. Then the second trial instead of picking up the bo staff to fight that woman I kick it at her, sweep her, and then start hitting her on the ground, knocking her staff out of her hands, then kick her staff at her, and now we're just one on one unarmed. Next trial with the two minibosses at once I run and get a couple of early hits on the woman and then flee to the bar and if the woman chases me and gets over the bar first I fight her inside it until the guy comes in, if the guy comes in first I jump the bar and fight the woman in the open. Once I kill her I use the guys aggression against him by running behind a table or behind a support column, charge a punch, and stun him with it when he runs to attack me, which often lets me get in a throw and a sweep. Gotten to where I can do the three trials without a death most of the time and can do the first phase of the fight against Sean with a death or two. Though the second phase still rapes me because I'm not good enough at dodging his attacks when they take more of your structure in the second phase.

But the place to train isn't really enjoyable. It turns the game into basically a job simulator where your job is to learn the combat system. I mean, I don't mind if that's your thing, and you get a kick of out that. Just ask the player at the start what kind of challenge they want.
I actually would love to play this game as if I was part of a Kung Fu movie. I really like the paired animations. The game actually starts that way, you could even say the first level is a bit arcade'ish until the boss fight. You get some dings, but you can easily recover your health more or less. Then it goes from there directly to getting you ass kicked. The youngest age I've been able to beat the botanist is 31. I almost always get to him at 20, 22 tops. The game simply goes from 'it's ok to make a mistake, you'll recover some health once you chain some nice kills' to 'you better parry or dodge perfectly, or you're going to lose 5-6 times in a row'. And frankly, even with shortcuts, this thing becomes utter repetitive. At least in games like Returnal you get a new reshuffle of the pieces of a level, so you get some relative randomness in every run, but not here. And I still don't know what button combo I need to use to dodge. The tutorial says to use LB and up/down, but it's damn near impossible for me to pull off consistently with all the speed of shit going around.
I was actually talking to a coworker about this yesterday, and we were talking about Souls games, and he told me one of the design aspects of Demon Souls was that it rewarded you if you could find a cheat. For example, I found the tower knight impossible for me to beat. I ended up cheesing it using arrows, and I thought I found something new and cool, but turns out the team knew about this, and they decided that if you were clever enough to figure that out, you could have it. This game (or Sekiro), there's just no cheesing it. You either become extremely proficient in their combat system or you might as well go play something else.

I don't know, the point of the training room is you just go there for a couple of minutes to work on the timing of a new move you want to try.

Are you weaving? Eg holding L1 and moving the left thumbstick to weave out of the way of attacks? He has a high kick that's pretty easy to duck under in the first phase, at which point you can hit him with a quick attack and then throw him into the planters or whatever those are to stun him a bit. Second phase he often does that high kick as the third hit in a combo, which is a good time to hit him with that bamboo (there is always bamboo available somewhere there).

Oh you're playing on PC? You have to hold LB and move the stick to weave. Just pressing LB is for parrying. If you don't have weaving down boss fights are a nightmare. Hell even miniboss fights are rough. Weaving has way more forgiving timing than parrying while still sometimes opening up nice counter options (though not as nice as parrying gives).

See? This is what I mean. I don't think I was introduced to weaving at any point in the game/tutorial section. I just had no idea you could do that. I recall the LB up and down, but this is the first I hear of weaving. IMO, that's a design flaw.

I think the weaving mechanic is taught in that tutorial sequence of fights right after that prologue mission, the one right after the cutscene showing you becoming an adult. I guess it would be nice if they allowed you to replay that tutorial in the training though as it also teaches important skills like throws, shoves, and leg sweeps (the regular leg sweep, not the strong leg sweep you get as a focus move) at a pace that's like drinking from the fire hose. That's definitely a design flaw having that not be repeatable, as it's hard to remember everything from it.

This is why it pays to check game trophy guides even if you're not going to plat a game. They usually dedicate a section in the beginning on how to best maximize the game in term of which ability to use, upgrades, moves etc.

Now I'm at the museum, and the game is back to being not so tough and somewhat enjoyable. Probably because I'm playing in a new place and finally advanced. There's just some severe balancing issues with it.

You fucker, you beat Sean? :lol :pctoss
Yeah I have heard The Club is a big difficulty spike that eases up a lot after. I can blast through the club easy, only thing that gives me any trouble is occasionally I'll get stomped by that girl on the dance floor and die. But Sean's second phase kicks the shit out of me every time. Got him down to about 10% structure bar left last time and then said fuck this game when I lost lol.
So how did you beat Sean's second form? Were you weaving to build focus and then doing strong sweeps? He recovers much more quickly from being put on the ground in the second phase and seems like only 1/3 to 1/2 of his combos have a decent follow-up window, plus I'm not great at catching his sweeps on time yet.

Just dodge down his attacks, then once he's finished with his sequence and near by, use the hard attack (triangle) to enter and then pounce for a bit. rinse and repeat. The other thing I used quite a bit is R2 and left/right when he's lounging a punch, if timed right, it just gets you out of the way, and you can nail him with the hard attack. Only used focus a couple times at the end of the fight, since at that point he starts to attack and then backs out a bit. Again, R2 and forward can get you close to him.
I probably died more times on his first form than his second.
Ended up just buying the PS4 digital copy. Didn't see the point of making a trip to buy it physically a day earlier with it raining today and all that.

Can't wait for Forbidden West. But I did the same so I couldn't preload, have to wait until midnight to do the PS5 upgrade and then it's like a 90GB download so doubt I'll play tonight. Will definitely play the shit out of it tomorrow though.

It's BS. I preloaded it but you still have to do the extra download so it's not like it lets you chose which version you want to download. It preloads the the PS4 version and the PS5 version itself its separate.

It would have been better to just wait until midnight and not pre order shit. At least then it doesn't make you download the base game then the upgrade. Assholes.

Nah you don't have to download the PS4 version. You just need to go onto the PSN Store and buy the PS5 upgrade for free, and then you download the PS5 version without needing the PS4 version. Just did it now once the clock turned midnight here. It's a pain in the ass to have to jump through those hoops though, had to do the same shit for Final Fantasy VII Remake too.
But yeah you couldn't preload the PS5 version if you bought the PS4 version because you had to wait for launch to "buy" the free PS5 upgrade.
