“I’LL NEVER QUESTION 1938 IN GERMANY AGAIN”:

AN EX-REPUBLICAN STRATEGIST SURVEYS THE WRECKAGE OF TRUMP’S GOP

Republicans “all know that Trump is an idiot,”

former Republican strategist Stuart Stevens described the GOP under Donald Trump as

a party of cynics, stooges, racists, and obsequious enablers whose profiles in cowardice bear an uncomfortable resemblance to 1930s Germany.

“When I talk to Republican politicians, I hear Franz von Papen,” he says, referencing the German chancellor who

convinced Germans that so-called radical leftists were a far greater threat than Adolf Hitler.

“They all know that Trump is an idiot.

They all know that he’s uniquely unqualified to be president.

But they convinced themselves that he was a necessity.”

Republicans have sacrificed every last belief and principle they held dear on the bonfire of Trump’s vanity.

And now, not even the catastrophically mismanaged coronavirus pandemic can wake them from their stupor.

“It is the combination of the

anti-intellectualism,

the anti-education elements of the Republican Party, and

the anti-elite elements of the Republican Party, so-called,

that have culminated in this toxic brew that is killing tens of thousands of Americans,”

This virus [is] attacking Americans.

And Donald Trump is making it a lot worse, and we all know this.

But Republicans won’t even stand up to defend America.”

Religious right groups training thousands of volunteers to help interfere in the election

Religious right activists are inserting themselves into the election process by gearing up to challenge votes cast by mail and watch for suspected fraud at polling stations.

Right-wing Christians and conservatives are training thousands of volunteers to challenge the validity of some votes cast in key battlegrounds states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin,

Engelbrecht’s group has already trained about 10,000 volunteers to sniff out alleged fraud in targeted counties through handwriting analysis and other methods.

Engelbrecht and her allies described their work as a “spiritual battle” for “control of the world,” :lol

Intercessors president Dave Kubal says she’s been “anointed” by God to oversee the election. :lol

True the Vote’s work usually involves efforts

to limit minority voting through voter ID laws and voter-roll purges,

and organized election observers have previously been charged with intimidation.

Trump pounded for withholding millions from 9/11 NYC firefighters’ health care

the Trump administration has been secretly withholding millions of dollars (https://www.rawstory.com/2020/09/trump-administration-has-secretly-withheld-millions-from-fdny-9-11-health-program/) from a fund intended to provide long-term health care to firefighters who responded to the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City.

In total, the newspaper found that

“the Trump administration has

secretly siphoned nearly $4 million

away from a program that tracks and treats FDNY firefighters and medics suffering from 9/11 related illnesses,”

and that Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin has so fall ignored bipartisan calls to restore it.

Trump may be a piece of shit but like a true sociopath he's very pragmatic and black and white. What logic is there, really, for him to even acknowledge their existence when the electoral college dictates that he will lose those states no matter what? Time and energy best spent elsewhere.

He's exposing every flaw in our shithole system and country very well.

Pretty much. Our constitution might say a president is supposed to care about all states whether or not they support him, but Trump has shown how weak and unenforceable all of those standards are.

There is, or should be, a bigger picture for the GOP than the next election. There are plenty of Republicans in CA, OR and WA; leaving them without federal help because Democrats control the state government is a great way to lose Republican voters for good.

What they should do if they get a majority in the senate is give statehood to Puerto Rico and DC, then wiork with Newsome and threaten to carve California into 10 different states if the Republicans don’t agree to abolish the electoral college and the each state gets two senators bullshit. That’s never going to happen though.

The one realistic hope is the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. States that represent 196 electoral colleges have already joined it, while there are pending bills in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Virginia to join, which would bring it to 233. If it ever got to over 270 that would effectively end the electoral college and replace it with a popular vote, assuming SCOTUS didn't find a way to call it unconstitutional.

GOP Operative Says He’s Building System to Dispatch Protesters Where Ballots Are Counted

https://files.rightwingwatch.org/uploads/Ali-Alexander-Roger-Stone-800x458.jpg

Republican political operative Ali Alexander, who previously went by the name Ali Akbar (https://www.dailydot.com/debug/ali-alexander-kamala-harris/), is floating the possibility of

revamping a 2018 effort to discredit mail-in and absentee voting ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

the night before the 2016 election, a PAC advised by Alexander received a $60,000 donation from hedge-fund billionaire Robert Mercer, the pro-Trump billionaire.

Alexander has associated with far-right figures including Unite the Right white supremacist attendee Matt Colligan (https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/new-right-activists-pivot-backwards-share-laughs-with-unite-the-right-demonstrator/), and made a habit of noting when members of the media he criticizes are Jewish,

Alexander claimed he planned to revamp a November 2018 effort called “Stop the Steal” and

create a digital text-messaging database that would dispatch supporters of President Donald Trump

to places where ballots are being counted

as well as the offices of state election officials around the country

if their “physical presence is needed.”

MSNBC’s Glenn Kirschner Says Trump Has Committed Second Degree Murder and ‘Must Be Held Accountable’

Glenn Kirschner said that President Donald Trump “upped his own criminal ante to second-degree murder” by covering up the severity of the coronavirus in public

“What Donald Trump has just done by virtue of the tapes that Bob Woodward released, is

he has upped his own criminal ante to second-degree murder,” Kirschner told Obeidallah.

“And here’s why:

He was lying to the American people about the danger this virus posed…

he was saying to Bob Woodward in very dramatic tones that

“this thing is airborne only you need to do is breathe near somebody who is infected and

you are going to get it.”

“This man has upped the criminal ante to second-degree murder,

and there are only two elements for second-degree murder.

The first is you caused the death of another,” he added, doubling down on his previous claim.

“The second element is the intent element.

And here’s where it would otherwise get tricky if we didn’t have Trump’s incriminating admissions.”

Kirschner broke down the second element even further,

explaining that it can be satisfied in one of three ways.

“You intended to kill somebody. We are not going to say Donald Trump intended to kill people.

Or if he didn’t intend to kill, he intended to inflict serious bodily injury. Let’s give him that one,” he said.

“The third is what’s called “conscious disregard.”

That’s defined as

your conduct was in conscious disregard of the extreme risk you were creating to other human beings that they would suffer death or serious bodily injury.

Trump has admitted ... that is second-degree murder and Donald Trump must be held accountable.”

They just want something to bitch about. If people didn't work for change in this country those blacks would still be slaves.

And you wouldn't have your gun rights protected.

You don't want black athletes getting uppity while you're reminded they have more money than you. That's fine.

You don't understand the concept of empathy.

Like a good conservative shill, you think every statement is about the individual.

That's not true It was just as painful for me watching the George Flloyd video as it was for you. I just don't appreciate the false narrative - that cops are just roaming the streets looking for innocent black kids to hunt down. I read that over 200 white folks were killed by cops last year. And that didn't happen because of their skin color it happened because they were fighting the authorities, who have guns, which is never a good idea. Fight your case in court, not on the streets.

In the case of Derek Chauvin, he was a part of that 5% of LEO's who should not be in that line of work. And this country(the left anyway) now vilifies police as a whole based on the actions of a few. How is that fair or right?

Btw, the age old tradition of having NFL players stand for the national anthem goes all the way back to 2009.

They should just consider doing away with it all together. The country is too divided right now.

Then white people should be in the street protesting too, but it's only natural for black people to think this is a racial thing when white America seems perfectly fine with how cops conduct themselves. Cops being quick triggered and killing people isn't a problem in the rest of the industrialized world.

Regarding whether it's fair or right - I'm out of sympathy for cops because most of the good ones (yes I said most) are indifferent when they see a bad one engage in misconduct. Look at Floyd for example, the other 4 cops stood by and watched as Chauvin had his knee on Floyd's neck. If cops were such good choir boys, why couldn't one have stepped in to help Floyd? The entire culture of police in America where they cover for each other no matter how bad the misconduct was is broken.

Because every time there's a George Floyd situation, the vast majority of the other 95%, along with the conservative masses, stretch themselves to great lengths to defend the Derek Chauvins and blame the victim. Justice is excruciatingly rare when it comes to police brutality. Fortunately, that is slowly starting to change thanks to movements like BLM.

The difficult part is that those other cops were his subordinates. I read that one of them had been on the force(outside the academy) for like 3 days. Probably most people are not going to check their boss if they like their jobs and want to continue paying their mortgage. But I am with you in that I wish one of them would have had more courage and done so.

In the last job I had, my boss asked me to do something to help him steal money from investors. I said go fuck yourself and walked off the job, and it cost me a lot of money since I was a month away from getting a bonus (good thing I did though since I would have gotten sued into oblivion and ruined my career). At some point the concept of right and wrong needs to kick in. I have sympathy for the cop who was new on the job, but the other ones were experienced enough.

I'm not sure why we needed the whole produced Alicia Keys at a funeral intro, and I'm not sure why we needed Al Michaels breaking in every quarter to remind viewers who stood and who knelt for the anthem. Well, I think thanks to the states being a COVID toilet, people are stressed out and losing their minds - and we are seeing an increase in mental health and substance abuse issues which leads to more calls than usual to the police. And so this current year is more of an outlier than anything, imo. It's just amplifying a existing problem making it look worse than actually is.

And honestly, I saw virtually nobody on the right defending the cops in the Flloyd case. Even Ted Cruz of all people condemned it and he is Tea Party right.

You don't think Roberts and Gorsuch could rationalize an argument that it violates the Compact Clause? There's no question the other 3 will.
i guess they could try to bullshit something, but its hard to see how it would encroach on any federal power. the federal government has no say over how electoral votes are cast. they only oversee the allocation of votes per state, but theres no federal oversight on what states do with their votes.

There's no question an unconstitutional ruling would be bullshit, but I think the Compact Clause contains some ambiguous language. There's no question Uncle Thomas and Alito will rule it unconstitutional, not sure if the other 3 conservatives have enough integrity to impartially read the Compact Clause.

Fortunately I do think the SCOTUS ruling on electoral college votes this year certainly makes it harder for them to say later on that states don't have autonomy over how electoral votes are cast.

No, students were sexually abused while Gym was working for a coach who was seen doing it in the workplace.

"You said you mistreated athletes. Did you sexually abuse Mr. Cross?" [U.S. District Judge Thomas M.] Durkin asked.

"I — I don't remember doing that, but I accept his statement," [Former Republican Speaker of the House Dennis] Hastert said.

"Did you sexually abuse Victim B?" asked Durkin, referring to another former wrestler who accused Hastert of performing a sex act on him when he was 14.

"Yes," Hastert replied quickly.

"Alright. And how about Mr. Reinboldt? Did you sexually abuse him?" the judge asked.

After Hastert replied, "That was a different situation," Durkin said, "If you want to elaborate, now is the time to do it."

Hastert conferred with his lawyer.

"I — I would accept Ms. Burdge's statement," he then said haltingly.

"So you did sexually abuse him?" Durkin asked.

"Yes," Hastert replied.

Yes or no.

It's not as simple and static as yes or no. Generally I prefer to take the high road like Trump did, especially when he's referring to her safety. I think Trump genuinely doesn't want her to end up like Epstein. (another victim of the Clinton Cartel)

Trump’s overtures struggle to register with religious voters

New signs point to Trump losing a sizable chunk of his Christian voters, upending his path to reelection.

Months after worries first exploded (https://www.politico.com/news/2020/05/22/trump-churches-evaneglicals-coronavirus-274842) inside the Trump campaign over his eroding support among white evangelicals and Roman Catholics, some of the president’s top religious allies are now in a panic

suggests Trump is poised to lose a sizable chunk of his Christian voters in November, raising questions about his path to reelection and the potential value in religious outreach

Seniors Flee Trump As He Has Lost 17.5 Points Of Support Since 2016

his rhetoric is pushing them away.

Four years ago, he won voters 65 or over by a margin of 13.3 percentage points. But looking at an average of the nine most recent national polls,

voters age 65 or over favored Biden to Trump by 49.5 percent to 45.7 percent.

An average of six national polls from May — before the beginning of widespread protests against police violence that would come to dominate the news over the summer — showed Trump and Biden tied among voters 65 or over.

Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric about race and crime could be alienating them as well.

Trump is fanning the flames and pushing older voters who supporterd him in 2016 toward Joe Biden, because

they want the nation’s problems to solved.

Like everyone else, older voters appear to want the chaos to stop,

so Trump doubling down on division is only helping Joe Biden.

Trump’s Nevada rally was an exercise in delegitimizing voting — and denying reality

Trump keeps holding probable superspreader events in the middle of a pandemic.

Trump traveled to Minden, Nevada — a town about 50 miles south of Reno — for a rambling, grievance-filled campaign rally on Saturday.

Over the course of a 90-minute speech (https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/trump-sows-doubt-on-election-integrity-with-false-assertions-at-douglas-county-rally-amid-coronavirus-pandemic),

Trump attacked mail-in voting (https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1304982417602740225?s=20),

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden (https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1304983556331106305?s=20), and

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak (https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/trump-sows-doubt-on-election-integrity-with-false-assertions-at-douglas-county-rally-amid-coronavirus-pandemic),

while

lamenting his press coverage,

long drives, and

the fact he was not able to have Air Force One behind him as he spoke.

He also once again suggested that

he should be allowed to serve more than two terms in office (https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1304971015647301632?s=20), which would be unconstitutional.

absent from his speech was

anything approaching a cohesive second-term agenda (https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2020/08/21/trump-outsider-incumbent-campaign/?arc404=true) or a policy platform.

his speech did contain was delivered suggestively, in the context of what the president is against, including

limiting fracking and

teaching children “poisonous anti-American lies in school.”

telling supporters that if Biden were to win, Harris would become president “in about a month.”

a Biden victory would “permanently destroy the lives and dreams of tens of millions of Americans ... and lead [to] countless deaths from suicide.”

Joe Biden leads Trump in several key swing states (https://www.vox.com/2020/9/13/21433978/swing-state-polls-joe-biden-leads-trump-2020-election)

With 51 days to go, polls suggest that Biden’s lead is holding.

poll taken from September 8 to 11 shows Biden retaining his lead with likely voters in four important states:

Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin.

Likewise, a CBS News/YouGov survey conducted from September 9 to 11 gives the former vice president the edge among likely voters in both Minnesota (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HgXF5rfA2yev5hD6mi4sCVgTmof3XPJ4/view) and Arizona (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hr0WLAZhvP2k_BOL7sRwEifQgu2JAOTU/view).

cold water on Trump’s Minnesota ambitions:

While Clinton eked out a narrow win by less than 2 percent (https://www.nytimes.com/elections/2016/results/minnesota) in 2016, both the

New York Times and CBS show Biden leading Trump by 9 percentage points.

Nationally, Biden leads Trump by an average of about 7.3 percentage points (https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/president-general/national/),

and he has retained a consistent lead in key swing states like Michigan (https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/president-general/michigan/) and Pennsylvania (https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/president-general/pennsylvania/).

These latest results fall in line with these standing trends.

h a recent Fox News poll (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fox-news-poll-biden-trump-a-5-point-race-in-post-convention-poll) of likely voters, which shows Biden with a slightly smaller lead versus Trump — just 5 percentage points —

but a solid advantage on most issues, including

racial inequality,
the pandemic,
health care,
the courts,
immigration, and
policing.

Only on the economy did likely voters have more faith in Trump, by a margin of 5 percentage points.

‘Brainless twit’ Trump buried in ridicule for boasting about a fake award named after a ‘failed US invasion’

Donald Trump was buried in ridicule on Sunday afternoon

he was the recipient of the prestigious “Bay of Pigs Award,” :lol

which, incidentally, doesn’t exist

"Remember, Miami Cubans gave me the highly honored Bay of Pigs Award

for all I have done for our great Cuban Population!”

Before Trump bragged about his fake ‘Bay of Pigs’ award —

he was desperately trying to build a hotel in Cuba

Before President Donald Trump hated Cuba, he loved it.

the group was called the Bay of Pigs Veterans Club, and they endorsed him. There was no award. CNN fact-checker daniel dale explained that Trump has a history of embellishing things into awards.

‘Fog Of War’: Trump Camp Rallies To His Defense After Intentional COVID Downplay Revelation

he President admitted (https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/trump-admits-artifically-downplayed-covid-cheerleader-us) that he intentionally downplayed (https://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckraker/as-covid-surged-across-u-s-trump-admitted-to-playing-it-down) the severity of COVID-19 early this year because

he is “a cheerleader for this country.” :lol

Navarro also told Tapper in the same interview that during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic,

the country was in the “fog of war” :lol what? Trash was telling everybody "no worries"

and that there were “competing views” :lol Trash lies versus scientific facts, NSA/WHO reports

on “whether this is simply the flu or whether this is very serious” at the time, :lol

Trump campaign officials hopped on the bandwagon as well.

While blaming the “corporate media” :lol

for “pushing out a myth :lol

that the President mishandled the virus” :lol

during an interview on Fox News Sunday, Cortes echoed Navarro’s sentiment

Cortes blamed Dr. Anthony Fauci for his comments in late February

Miller touted Trump for “accurately saying that Americans are starting to safely and responsibly reopen all around the country,” :lol 1M jobs losses/week, 1000 deaths/day, 500+ deaths/million

McDaniel said that she disagreed with the notion and argued that

the President “took political calculations into a global pandemic :lol Trash campaign tactic was "no worries"

“The President was calm and steady and methodical,” :lol

McDaniel said, citing how Trump set up the White House Coronavirus Task Force :lol

and restricted travel from China earlier this year. :lol 10Ks of Chinese arrived anyway and NYC was infected by Europeans! :lol

“Think of what would have happened if he’d have gone out and said,

‘This is awful.

We should all be afraid.

We don’t have a plan.’ :'lol Trash DIDN'T HAVE A PLAN! :lol it was Obama/Biden fault :lol

It would have been a run on the banks,” :lol

Yeah I don’t know how this is remotely enforceable. There’s a reason BigPharma bankrolls campaigns for congressmen and women of both parties, this kind of stuff needs to go through Congress.

Will Hunting

Yeah fuck it this is purely a political stunt. This will get struck down in court but not until after the election, Trump knows that but only passed this EO to tell voters he took on BigPharma. If controlling drug prices was as simple as passing an EO he should have done it his first week in office.

Besides being wrong it's also a waste of money. You put someone on death row and they spend 20 years in there filing appeals and whatnot all the while you still have to feed, clothe and house the individual.

In the end, it costs the government more money to put an immate to death than it is to keep said prisoner in jail for life.

"It is about forest management. Please remember the words, very simple -- forest management." Approximately 50% of land in California and Oregon is owned by the USG.

In California, the federal government manages 57% of the forest land. In Oregon, that figure is 60%, in Washington, 44%.

Why is it wrong to kill a cop killer ?
If it is a life sentence they get appeals to !
A open and shut case against a cop should take 1 year
And it will cut down on cop killing

There is, or should be, a bigger picture for the GOP than the next election. There are plenty of Republicans in CA, OR and WA; leaving them without federal help because Democrats control the state government is a great way to lose Republican voters for good.

In today's climate he and they don't lose those votes. Look at that economist article interviewing republican voters in Ohio. They believe lives. Its never trump, it's always the dems. Lies work.
