Probably because Bush was a terrible president. Ruined the economy, started a new Vietnam War, and never caught Bin Laden despite having 8 years to do it.

Maybe Sweden's former prime minister should look into how his country became the rape capital of the West and second only to Lesotho in rapes worldwide. Sexual violence might not fit the typical profile we think of as a terrorist attack, but that doesn't diminish the terror felt by the victims of the refugees' assaults.

fake news
And it falls apart as soon as you speak to anyone knowledgeable in Sweden.
“What we’re hearing is a very, very extreme exaggeration based on a few isolated events, and the claim that it’s related to immigration is more or less not true at all,” says Jerzy Sarnecki, a criminologist at Stockholm University who has devoted his career to the study of criminality, ethnicity and age.
Sweden does indeed have far more reported cases of sexual assault than any other country. But it’s not because Swedes – of any colour – are very criminal. It’s because they’re very feminist. In 2005, Sweden’s Social Democratic government introduced a new sex-crime law with the world’s most expansive definition of rape.
Imagine, for example, if your boss rubbed against you in an unwanted way at work once a week for a year. In Canada, this would potentially be a case of sexual assault. Under Germany’s more limited laws, it would be zero cases. In Sweden, it would be tallied as 52 separate cases of rape. If you engaged in a half-dozen sex acts with your spouse, then later you felt you had not given consent, in Sweden that would be classified as six cases of rape.

Yes, that article you're quoting is fake news. Denmark has rape laws that are similar to Sweden's, but they still have far fewer rape cases than Sweden does even when adjusted for the difference in population size. They also - shocker! - accept far fewer refugees than Sweden does.
Even more delusional is when the columnist pretends that Sweden's rape rates are being inflated by things like a boss rubbing up against their employees in a sexual manner at work. What's fueled the rape epidemic in Sweden more than anything else is the skyrocketing number of brutal gang rapes, coupled with Sweden's refusal to address the problem:
A new trend reached Sweden with full force over the past few decades: gang rape -- virtually unknown before in Swedish criminal history. The number of gang rapes increased (http://fof.se/artikel/dramatisk-okning-av-antalet-anmalda-gruppvaldtakter) spectacularly between 1995 and 2006. Since then no studies of them have been undertaken.
One of the worst cases (http://www.swedenconfidential.info/2012/04/11/domen-har-fallit-i-gruppvaldtaktsmalet-i-mariannelund/) occurred in 2012, when a 30-year old woman was raped by eight men in a housing project for asylum seekers, in the small town of Mariannelund. The woman was an acquaintance of a man from Afghanistan who had lived in Sweden for a number of years. He invited her to go out with him. She obliged. The Afghan man took her to a refugee housing project and left her defenseless. During the night, she was raped repeatedly by the asylum seekers and when her "friend" returned, he raped her too. The following morning she managed to call the police. Sweden's public prosecutor has called the incident "the worst crime of rape in Swedish criminal history."
Seven of the men were sentenced to between 4.5 and 6.5 years in prison. Prison time is usually reduced by a third, so it won't be long before the men will be ready for new assaults -- presumably on infidel women.
In cases of gang rape, culprits and victims are most often young and in almost every case, the perpetrators are of immigrant background, mostly from Muslim countries. In an astounding number of cases, the Swedish courts have demonstrated sympathy for the rapists. Several times the courts have acquitted suspects who have claimed that the girl wanted sex with six, seven or eight men.

Props for admitting that you have no factual response for the data, just emotional outbursts. :tu
All the article does is point out sourced statistical facts about rape in Sweden and what's been driving their rape rate through the roof. If that reads as "anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant" to you, it's probably because Muslim refugees are by far the biggest contributors to this trend.
Meanwhile, speaking of agendas, you linked to an opinion column by an open-borders activist that tries to argue that Sweden's rape rate is increasing because bosses keep rubbing up against their employees in the workplace :lmao

When Trump won, I knew there was a God. Godbless the central part of USA.
Trump just needs to quit treating Melania as a prop.
Let her stay home. Clearly she's always uncomfortable in the public's eye.
It's not just her. Public speaking is the top fear, and I assume that's in one's native language.

“This is bad journalism”: Swedish cops blast Fox News story based off “madman” filmmaker referenced by President Trump
Cops interviewed in the film Tucker Carlson shed a spotlight on say they were taken completely out of context
But according to people who actually live in Sweden — and the cops who patrol the streets — Donald Trump is peddling in fake news.
Ami Horowitz, who interviewed two Swedish police officers as part of his film, “Stockholm Syndrome.” But the cops that Horowitz interviewed, Anders Göranzon and Jacob Ekström, say their comments were taken out of context.
“It was supposed to be about crime in high risk areas. Areas with high crime rates. There wasn’t any focus on migration or immigration,”
“We don’t stand behind it. It shocked us. He has edited the answers. We were answering completely different questions in the interview. This is bad journalism.”
The upset police officer also made it clear that he was appalled at journalist Ami Horowitz, whom he described as “a madman.”
There is no statistical evidence (https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/20/world/europe/trump-pursues-his-attack-on-sweden-with-scant-evidence.html?smprod=nytcore-iphone&smid=nytcore-iphone-share&mtrref=t.co) that immigration in Sweden has led to an increase in crime, the New York Times noted Monday.
One type of crime in Sweden that has undeniably spiked, though, are Islamophobic hate crimes (https://www.bra.se/bra/bra-in-english/home/crime-and-statistics/hate-crime.html). They rose from 327 in 2013 to 558 in 2015.

Preliminary data released last month by Sweden’s crime prevention council found no significant increase in crimes from 2015 to 2016, even with the influx of migrants. The council did note an increase in assaults and rapes last year,

Some are up, some are down, but the overall trend appears fairly flat despite the large rise in immigrants over this period. On the other hand, preliminary figures (http://www.bra.se/bra/nytt-fran-bra/arkiv/nyheter/2017-01-12-anmalda-brott-2016---preliminar-statistik.html) show that crime against persons was up 7 percent in 2016, including a 13 percent increase in reported rapes and a 14 percent increase in child abuse.

The staffers were then directed to backfill all the other numbers in their models to produce these growth rates.https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-trump-team-is-already-cooking-the-books/2017/02/20/a793961e-f7b2-11e6-be05-1a3817ac21a5_story.html

Here's a much more credible source on Trash's economic bullshit
Robert Reich: Why Trumponomics Will Fail Spectacularly
It's pure fantasy.
Start with Boeing’s Dreamliner itself. It’s not “made in the U.S.A..” It’s assembled in the United States.
But most of it parts come from overseas. Those foreign parts total almost a third (http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.businessinsider.com%2F boeing-trump-administration-policies-effects-dreamliner-787-2017-2&t=OGViZGExNWMyNmE3NjA2NjM5MDAxMDAxYTA5YjBjYzZiZmRl MzI5MyxOWnAwT3o5bw%3D%3D&b=t%3AhQ9Ds4P3Iv6D7mgEr8WMqg&p=http%3A%2F%2Frobertreich.org%2Fpost%2F1574183504 05&m=1) of the cost of the entire plane.
For example:
The Italian firm Alenia Aeronautica makes the center fuselage and horizontal stabilizers.
The French firm Messier-Dowty makes the aircraft’s landing gears and doors.
The German firm Diehl Luftfahrt Elektronik supplies the main cabin lighting.
The Swedish firm Saab Aerostructures makes the cargo access doors.
The Japanese company Jamco makes parts for the lavatories, flight deck interiors and galleys.
The French firm Thales makes its electrical power conversion system.
Thales selected GS Yuasa, a Japanese firm, in 2005 to supply it with the system’s lithium-ion batteries.
The British company Rolls Royce makes many of the engines.
A Canadian firm makes the moveable trailing edge of the wings.
Notably, these companies don’t pay their workers low wages. In fact, when you add in the value of health and pension benefits – either directly from these companies to their workers, or in the form of public benefits to which the companies contribute – most of these foreign workers get a better deal than do Boeing’s workers. (The average wage for Boeing production and maintenance workers in South Carolina is $20.59 per hour, or $42,827 a year. Barack Obama: Obama was forced to withdraw his choice for commerce secretary (former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson), his backup choice for commerce secretary (former Senator Judd Gregg), his pick for Health and Human Services (former South Dakota Senator Tom Daschle), and his nominee to be chairman of the National Intelligence Council (Charles Freeman). As WorldNet Daily reported, this chaos was "compounded by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner's admission of ‘tax goofs' involving his failure to pay $43,000 in federal self-employment taxes for four separate years (until, that is, he was tapped for his Obama post). At least five other Treasury staff picks withdrew before the Obama administration had reached the 100-day mark." And then, of course, there was ObamaCare, which resulted in the "shellacking" that Obama suffered in the 2010 midterm election, in which the Democrats lost a half dozen Senate seats and 60 House seats.
The Takeaway: Donald Trump may be unique in many respects, but not when it comes to presidential chaos and confusion.

Trump has no economists in his inner circle, and looks to be trying to put political pressure on the economics wonks that will be collecting the data.

Trump's plan to declare victory on the economy
The alternative-fact alerts are blaring.
President Donald Trump is reportedly preparing forecasts for economic growth that considerably exceed those published by most mainstream economists. So what, you may say. It’s just a forecast. There’s no harm in being more optimistic than the rest.
But fudging the numbers can cause plenty of harm. Trump, as becomes more apparent every day, creates his own data when the facts don’t suit him. (See: greatest electoral victory since Reagan, widespread voter fraud, highest murder rate in 45 years, unreported terrorist attacks, etc.) And economic policy is highly dependent on the best possible understanding of what’s going on. Bogus economic data can be used to justify new policies that might appeal to Trump personally—and appease his populist supporters—while failing to address real economic problems and even damaging the economy.
Trump is preparing a budget that predicts the economy will grow by around 3.5% per year for the next several years, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Mainstream forecasters like the Congressional Budget Office, the Federal Reserve and private research outfits think that’s way too high, and expect growth closer to 2% per year...
But Trump’s economic proposals so far rely heavily on supply-side assumptions about tax cuts and infrastructure spending producing a big boost in growth. Such assumptions could justify a big increase in annual deficits and the national debt, since faster growth in the future would produce more income and therefore more tax revenue for the government. That’s not what happened during the last supply-side experiment, however. The big tax cuts signed by President George W. Bush in 2001 and 2003 failed to produce a notable boost in growth, and simply added to the national debt.
The danger is using selective or bogus forecasts to justify bad policy choices. “If it didn’t affect policy, there would be no harm,” says conservative economist Donald Boudreaux of George Mason University. “The harm comes through its potential affect on policy. It can make policy worse.”
Trump’s team is already looking into ways to restate trade deficits that would make them sound worse than they are, by counting foreign products that transit the United States on their way to some other country as imports but not exports. Economists say such products must be treated the same—either counted as imports and exports both, or not counted at all—to give an accurate picture of what’s happening. Counting them as imports but not exports would make the trade deficit larger, fueling calls for protective tariffs and other trade restrictions Trump favors. Many economists and business leaders say such protectionism would raise prices and hurt the economy.
Researchers are beginning to explore whether Trump could politicize economic data the federal government collects and disseminates, which is largely viewed as rigorous and untainted by political manipulation. “The Trump administration’s alarming tendency to dismiss objective facts as ‘fake news’ has led to claims that the president and his team could seek to politicize US statistics,” British research firm Capital Economics wrote in a recent note to clients. Such worries, the firm said, “are a little far-fetched, but no longer completely implausible.”
It’s obviously still early in Trump’s administration, and it may be premature to charge him with the intent to manipulate economic numbers. But Trump is not like other presidents. His contempt for data and science is unprecedented. He dismisses facts that are irrefutable. And he has made promises, such as 3.5% economic growth, that reality may not abide.
To that end, we may be seeing the outlines of a strategy for Trump to declare victory on the economy, regardless of what really happens. Trump could use forecasts in this year’s presidential budget to change the way growth is measured, setting a new baseline that could make it easier to hit the 3.5% number in subsequent years. When experts protest, he’ll call it “fake news,” and blame the media for lying about the real rate of growth.
One big catch is that ordinary people who support Trump now may not buy it if Trump says the economy is suddenly doing great–but they don’t see it reflected in their own lives. “You can fool people into thinking they’re worse off than they really are,” says Boudreaux. “It’s harder to fool people into thinking they’re better off than they really are.” Alternative facts can’t enlarge your paycheck, after all.

This is why it's so stupid to hear the reports of chaos in the Trump administration. It's the norm for any new administration a month in. If there's still turmoil a year from now like with the Clinton administration then it's a story.

The chaos is because of repeated conflicting statements from the admin. Trump shoots his mouth off (this is after he won the Presidency, I'm ignoring his demented ravings during the campaign) and then someone from his team tries to do damage-control.
Trump: I can support either a 2-state solution or a 1-state solution
Nikki Haley: We support a 2-state solution
Trump: They have sanctions against Russia -- let's see if we can strike a few good deals with Russia
Haley: Our Crimea-related sanctions will remain in place until Russia returns control over the peninsula to Ukraine
Gen Mattis: Very little doubt that Russia has interfered in elections
Trump: I have nothing to do with Russia. To the best of my knowledge, no person that I deal with does
Russian deputy foreign minister: I cannot say that all, but a number of them maintained contacts with Russian representatives
Trump: NATO is obsolete
Pence: Our support for NATO is unwavering, but we expect real progress
Mattis: The US remains committed to NATO, but others need to show support for common defence
Trump on Iraq: We should have taken the oil, and maybe we'll have another chance
Mattis: We're not here to take anyone's oil
Conway: Flynn himself decided to resign
Spicer: Trump asked Flynn to resign
It has been an epic clusterfuck so far, although Trump is probably blissfully unaware of what's going on.

The president also referred to New START as a “one-sided deal,” which confirms that he still doesn’t understand what the treaty does and must be relying on briefings from hawkish treaty opponents. Improving relations with Russia won’t get very far if one of the first things Trump intends to do is renege on a major agreement with Russia.http://www.theamericanconservative.com/larison/trumps-nuclear-babble/

It's not required to give anyone a chance -- Obama hadn't been in office a day before Sen McConnell said job one for Republicans was making sure he was a one termer.
Can you explain how Trump can build a border wall, hire thousands of immigration agents, modernize the nuclear arsenal (while generally increasing military spending,) pass $500 billion in infrastructure spending, defeat ISIS, bring back jobs lost to automation and rationalisation, repeal Obamacare and replace it with something that covers everyone better and more cheaply -- while cutting taxes for everyone and not increasing the deficit or the debt?
If Trump can do all that, I'll salute him, but it doesn't pass the sniff test.

One finds little confidence and less tolerance among Americans now. One finds instead, a president who has more bad ideas than you’ve had hot dinners—a man with an antidemocratic streak that appears to result from his failure to understand the principles of democratic government. There is only one thing worse than this president. I refer to the liberal reaction to his election. It had been bad but short of dangerous for some time after the night of last November 8. As of last week, I count it a disgrace: It is full of danger now.https://www.thenation.com/article/are-we-witnessing-a-coup-operation-against-the-trump-white-house/
Winehole23

I know it is a long time ago, but cast your mind back to those autumn days when mainstream Democrats considered “President Hillary Clinton” a shoo-in. There was going to be a big problem come November 8, they direly warned: All the Trumpets and Trumpettes will not accept the result. They will refuse Clinton her legitimacy. They will deny and resist and rampage. They will be in the streets. They will put our great republic’s political process, our very glory, at risk. Striking it has been to watch liberals as they commit these very sins. One opinion-page inhabitant predicted “a perpetual fever swamp” after Clinton took the White House. Are we not sloshing through one now?
Winehole23
02-25-2017, 11:13 AM
It is one thing to tar Donald Trump with a groundless campaign, Nixon-style, so as to insinuate without evidence that he entertains objectionable ties to Russia. That is mere politics. (And I like Reince Priebus’s term for this last Sunday on Fox News. Citing top officials in the IC, which stands for intelligence cabal, Priebus asserted, “They have made it very clear that the story is complete garbage.”)
It is another matter altogether when the descendants of Dulles (whom Priebus suggests are not united on this one) mount what looks awfully like a coup operation against the president of our republic. That is a strong phrase, but it belongs on the table far more than the “complete garbage” you can read in any day’s edition of The New York Times. There I will put it for now, awaiting a historically informed argument for taking it off.
Leaks have the wonderful advantage of requiring no substantiation. With Michael Flynn’s resignation as Trump’s national-security adviser, they have already claimed one prominent victim. Who or what is next? Priebus? Trump himself? Or maybe just crippling the Trump White House’s determination to forge a saner relationship with Moscow will do.

But still, you prefer Hillary over Trump? I don't think Trump's in it for the money - for the ego, paying back Obama and those who insulted him but not the money (his brand has taken a big hit).
To answer your question from the other thread, I'm not for Trump's personal tax cuts (only the corporate and repatriation), building of the wall (prefer e-verify and stiff fines for employers who violate) or this full scale building up of the military. I prefer him to work down the debt and make SS and Medicare financially sustainable (raise the age significantly). As far as jobs, I think there needs to be a major re-training of the entire workforce for the upcoming technology starting with (strong initiatives at) K-12.

& it's exhilarating to behold. A severely flawed human man with no prior experience in the field made President. And he listens to (us). And he gives us exactly what we ask for, what we want, what we need.
He struck that template about "the American men and women who have been forgotten,,,,,,will be forgotten no more." C'mon, hole, if that doesn't cause your eyes to well then you're a meat head. He is one of us. He does get overjoyed, over heated at the idea, the stark reality that he won the Presidency. Nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with seeing man at unguarded ecstasy.
He took the idea, the principle of identifying what Americans wanted, not what he wanted, not what Trump wanted, but, what we wanted and he ran on that. Once in, he didn't turn around and give us what he wanted all the time. No. No matter what this man wants in his soul he is giving us exactly what he promised us.

Thats what makes him a huge pussy.
These dinner parties are there to prop the president up. And he's the only one who actually gets a microphone to speak. He even sets who seats at the main table with him.
The fact that he's still too much of a pussy to go says a lot. Perhaps he still has nightmares of Obama lighting him on fire that one time.

Perhaps it's Trump who will get the last laugh - being president (remember Obama's joke) and dismantling his signature achievement.

Boehner is right. Republicans aren't going repeal and replace Obamacare. They're just gonna modify it.

Politically (to get the least amount of heat), the republicans should wait for premiums/copays/deductibles to skyrocket and networks to narrow and for the Medicaid expansion to hit the states (and the 10% they would be responsible for) when the country is screaming for repeal and replace. Alas, that's still a couple of years down the road and they don't have the 60 votes to undo the non-financial parts of ACA. I don't know what is going to happen, but they need to ignore that biased PEW poll that claims that Obamacare has hit its highest approval - it has 37% more leaning Dem/Dems than leaning Repub/Repub.

Gotta be less than 3 years, or it's going to come back to haunt them big time in what would be the next election cycle. The best path forward for them is to undermine the ACA with the power of the purse ASAP, tbh...

In The Art of the Deal, Donald Trump writes, “You can’t con people, at least not for long. You can create excitement, you can do wonderful promotion and get all kinds of press, and you can throw in a little hyperbole. But if you don’t deliver the goods, people will catch on.”
Trump is having trouble delivering the goods. At this point in his presidency, Barack Obama had far more nominees both named and confirmed, and he had passed the stimulus bill, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and a massive expansion of the Children’s Health Insurance Program. As of today, Trump hasn’t signed any major legislation, and none seems close to his desk — in fact, Republicans and Democrats both tell me they’re beginning to doubt that Obamacare gets replaced or a major tax reform bill gets passed at all.
