Arizona’s Republican Governor Just Defied Trump Ahead Of Tomorrow’s Rally
On the heels of Trump’s campaign-style rally in Phoenix tomorrow, Arizona’s
Republican governor Doug Ducey has announced that he will not attend the event.
Ducey’s spokesman Daniel Scarpinato said, “Governor Ducey’s focus has been working with law enforcement toward a safe event in downtown Phoenix for all those involved and in the area. That will continue to be his priority during the event and afterwards.”
The governor’s decision comes amid the President’s public feud with the state’s two Republican Senators.
Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) wrote a scathing op-ed in Politico entitled “My Party is in Denial About Donald Trump (http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/07/31/my-party-is-in-denial-about-donald-trump-215442)” and further criticized him in his book, “Conscience of a Conservative.”
Trump’s relationship with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has also been strained since the longtime Senator voted against the Senate’s “skinny repeal” of Obamacare.
Most recently, McCain castigated the President’s abhorrent response to the white supremacy rally in Charlottesville in which he drew equivalency between literal neo-Nazis and the activists who showed up to oppose them.

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/439040/male-physical-decline-masculinity-threatened
Men Are Getting Weaker — because We’re Not Raising Men
Young American males are losing touch with a critical element of true masculinity. If you’re the average Millennial male, your dad is stronger than you are. In fact, you may not be stronger than the average Millennial female. You’re exactly the kind of person who in generations past had your milk money confiscated every day — who got swirlied in the middle-school bathroom. The very idea of manual labor is alien to you, and even if you were asked to help, say, build a back porch, the task would exhaust you to the point of uselessness. Welcome to the new, post-masculine reality.
This morning, the Washington Post highlighted a study showing that the grip strength of a sample of college men had declined significantly between 1985 and 2016. Indeed, the grip strength of the sample of college men had declined so much — from 117 pounds of force to 98 — that it now matched that of older Millennial women. In other words, the average college male had no more hand strength than a 30-year-old mom.
Yes, I know it’s only one study. Yes, I know that grip strength is but one measure of overall physical fitness. But as the Post noted, these findings are consistent with other studies showing kids are less fit today. (For example, it takes children 90 seconds longer to run a mile than it did 30 years ago.) Simply put, we’re getting soft — and no cohort is getting softer faster than college men.
I look back to my own childhood. In 1985, I was 16 years old, and I was a nerd’s nerd. I toted graph paper and 20-sided dice to school to play Dungeons & Dragons at lunch. (I like to think I was the finest dungeon master Scott County, Ky., had ever seen.) When I wasn’t playing D&D, my nose was buried in Lord of the Rings, or the Shannara books by Terry Brooks, or the Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey. I played sports, sure, but let’s just say that my varsity tennis exploits didn’t make the cheerleaders’ hearts flutter.
But none of my nerdiness relieved me of the responsibility of learning how to be a man — a protector, builder, and fixer. So that meant spending my Saturdays hauling out the ramps to change the oil and oil filters on all our cars. That meant helping my dad build a new back porch or constantly wrestling with immense piles of firewood. (We heated our house with a wood stove.) I made extra money working in neighborhood yards. Being a guy meant doing manual labor. That was just part of growing up — no matter your social class.
In the age of instant oil change (why entrust your car’s health to your 16-year-old?), ubiquitous lawn services, and on-demand handymen, privileged kids simply don’t have the same, naturally occurring opportunities to learn to work with their hands and to develop physical strength. In the age of zero-tolerance school-disciplinary policies — where any kind of physical confrontation is treated like a human-rights violation — they have less opportunity to develop toughness. Today’s young males don’t have common touchstones for what it’s like to grow up to be a man.
That’s not to say that they don’t still carve out their own, distinctively male spaces — boys and girls are different, after all. But spend time with teen boys today and you’ll find that their common experience revolves more around Call of Duty than around work or even sports. As kids get older (and even during their teenage years), the male gaming experience is supplemented with copious amounts of porn. Thus — as Philadelphia magazine illustrated in 2012 — the devolution of man is complete:
https://www.nationalreview.com/sites/default/files/Jesse%20Lenz.png
Raising a boy to be a young man used to be a natural act. Common experiences and rites-of-passage meant that my D&D friends could pop the hood of a car and get to work right alongside the future mechanics of my high-school class. We weren’t as good or as knowledgeable, but we held our own. And there were no social-justice warriors shrieking that there was no such thing as distinctively male or masculine pursuits.
Now, for parents of the privileged, raising a boy to be a young man has to be an intentional act. You have to ignore the voices who are telling you to indulge your child’s inclinations — no matter what they are — and train them to be not just morally courageous but also physically strong. They can have their Xbox or their PC (my son brags about his kill/death ratio on Battlefield, and we belong to the same World of Warcraft guild), but they can also hit the weight room. They can also not just learn to shoot but also how to assemble and disassemble their weapon. Even if you’re rich, you can make your kid do the hard work that keeps any household together.
Though this sounds simplistic, never ever underestimate the positive effect that raw physical strength can have on a young man’s development. I’ve seen the impact that weight training has had on my son, and I wish I’d been as diligent when I was his age. I’ve experienced the impact — even as an older adult — of the physical transformation of Army training.
Our culture strips its young men of their created purpose and then wonders why they struggle. It wonders why men — who are built to be distinctive from women — flail in modern schools and workplaces designed from the ground-up for the feminine experience. Men were meant to be strong. Yet we excuse and enable their weakness. It’s but one marker of cultural decay, to be sure, but it’s a telling marker indeed. There is no virtue in physical decline. — David French is an attorney and a staff writer for National Review.

The Mayor of Phoenix, however, has made it quite clear that President Trump isn’t welcome in his city. Mayor Greg Stanton
"America is hurting. And it is hurting largely because Trump has doused racial tensions with gasoline. With his planned visit to Phoenix on Tuesday, I fear the president may be looking to light a match.
That’s why I asked the president to delay his visit. It’s time to let cooler heads prevail and begin the healing process.
I’m not optimistic the White House will heed that call.
Let’s be clear: A pardon of Arpaio can be viewed only as a presidential endorsement of the lawlessness and discrimination that terrorized Phoenix’s Latino community. Choosing to announce it in Phoenix — especially in the wake of Charlottesville — would add insult to very serious injury and would reveal that the president’s true intent is to further divide our nation.
For years, Arpaio illegally targeted Latinos in our community because of the color of their skin. Mothers and fathers lived in fear as they dropped off their kids at school. Kids lived in fear of their parents being arrested and taken away.
A federal court ruled Arpaio’s tactics violated the law (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/25/us/federal-judge-finds-violations-of-rights-by-sheriff-joe-arpaio.html?mcubz=0). After he defied a judge’s orders, he was convicted of criminal contempt. In convicting him, U.S. District Judge Susan R. Bolton noted (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ex-sheriff-joe-arpaio-guilty-of-contempt-over-patrols-targeting-immigrants/) that Arpaio “announced to the world and to his subordinates that he was going to continue business, as usual, no matter who said otherwise.”
Our community is moving on and moving forward from Arpaio’s divisive legacy. A pardon won’t change the fact that Arpaio was convicted of a crime, nor will it shake our resolve to keep building a city that is welcoming, is inclusive and provides opportunities for anyone willing to work for them."

McConnell, in Private, Doubts if Trump Can Save Presidency
The relationship between President Trump and Senator Mitch McConnell (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/m/mitch_mcconnell/index.html?inline=nyt-per), the majority leader, has disintegrated to the point that they have not spoken to each other in weeks, and Mr. McConnell has privately expressed uncertainty that Mr. Trump will be able to salvage his administration after a series of summer crises.
Angry phone calls and private badmouthing have devolved into open conflict, with the president threatening to oppose Republican senators who cross him, and Mr. McConnell mobilizing to their defense.

President Trump is deteriorating before our very eyes
Trump is getting worse.
He rambled and ranted with abandon.
He hinted that he will pardon Joe Arpaio.
He escalated his attacks on the media,
accusing them of misrepresenting his response to the violence in Charlottesville.
Yet he also doubled down on his defense of Confederate monuments,
claiming that “they” are trying to “take away our heritage and our history.”
All of this appeared to signal a growing contempt for the rule of law and an
increasing indifference to the health of our democracy and institutions, and to his own responsibilities and
duty to the public to try to calm the antagonisms unleashed in Charlottesville’s aftermath.
If anything, at this difficult moment of national introspection,
Trump conspicuously sought to further inflame those antagonisms.
Some reacted with deep panic:
Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper labeled (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2017/08/23/james-clapper-questions-trumps-fitness-worries-about-his-access-to-nuclear-codes/?utm_term=.296c79c024e8) the speech
“downright scary and disturbing,”
adding:
“I really question his ability to be — his fitness to be — in this office.”

Carl Bernstein: This is the Trump story reporters need to cover
"Republicans in Congress,
the highest of intelligence officials,
the highest of military officers in our country,
leaders of the business community --
all of whom have dealt with the White House, and
many of them dealt personally with Donald Trump --
have come to believe that he is unfit for the presidency,"
Bernstein told CNN's Brian Stelter on Sunday.
He said those people are "raising the very question of his stability and his mental fitness."
"Maybe what I'm being told is not as pervasive as I believe it is. Let's find out," Bernstein added. "We need as journalists to make this our primary function right now."
"Is the president of the United States a racist?
Is he suffering from some kind of illness?
Is he fit for office?
And if he's unfit --
then what?"
Douglas Brinkley, a CNN presidential historian, called Corker "a real leader among Republicans."
"We're getting the ramifications as a nation of what having a sick man in the White House means,"
Brinkley said.
"A sick man?" Stelter asked.
Brinkley responded:
(http://www.cnn.com/videos/tv/2017/08/20/rs-what-happens-to-governing-if-potus-is-unfit.cnn/video/playlists/reliable-sources-highlights/?iid=EL)"He's not mentally stable." Trump delivering on another campaign promise :tu
According to a new report, the Department of Homeland Security is suspending visas of people from countries who are not accepting deportees. President Trump had promised to put more pressure on these countries and this move will definitely ensure that.
https://images1-focus-opensocial.googleusercontent.com/gadgets/proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi%2Eimgflip%2Ecom%2F1um3cl %2Ejpg&container=focus
Axios reported: The Department of Homeland Security is suspending the issuance of visas to four nations that have "refused to accept or unreasonably delayed the return of its nationals," a State Department official confirmed to Axios, although the official wouldn't reveal the details of the suspension.
The countries, per a report from The Washington Times: Cambodia, Eritrea, Guinea, and Sierra Leone
Why it matters: Trump is following through on a campaign promise to pressure countries to take deportees back. The Washington Times reported earlier this year that 8 of 20 countries that had been resistant to accepting deportees from the U.S. are now complying.
DHS did not immediately return requests for comment.

The Staffer Responsible For Pushing Pro-Trump News Just Resigned
Andy Hemming, White House Director of rapid response, has left his job today.
According to sources familiar with the story, the departure was “mutually agreed upon”, and Hemming now plans to take a vacation before finding a new job.
Hemming’s job (http://www.politico.com/story/2017/08/08/trump-media-stories-hemming-241392)involved trawling through various media platforms looking for stories that spoke positively about President Donald Trump and his administration.
After identifying a good story or talking point, Hemming would share it with “influencers”, mainly media figures,
who would shape the public rhetoric surrounding the Trump presidency.
It is a sweet irony that
Trump has to employ someone to nitpick the “fake News media” for slithers of positivity
while simultaneously lambasting it simply for the negative coverage its been giving his administration.

Devastating Poll: These Numbers Tell a Brutal Tale of Trump's Meteoric Decline (https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/8/23/1692725/-Devastating-Poll-These-Numbers-Tell-a-Brutal-Tale-of-Trump-s-Meteoric-Decline)
On questions of presidential morality, Trump takes a serious beating.
Sixty-two percent say that Trump does not provide the U.S. with moral leadership.
And breaking that down into specifics only makes it worse:
61-36 percent say that he is not honest;
61-37 percent say that he does not have good leadership skills;
57-40 percent say that he does not care about average Americans;
68-29 percent say that he is not level headed;
59-38 percent say that he is a strong person; :lol
55-43 percent say that he is intelligent; :lol
63-34 percent say that he does not share their values.
An astonishing sixty-nine percent of voters think Trump should stop tweeting. And although fifty-five percent say they disapprove of the way the news media covers him, sixty-two percent disapprove of the way he talks about the media.
More damaging from Trump's perspective is that
fifty-four percent of voters trust the media "to tell you the truth about important issues" than trust the President to do so.

Judge Approves Warrant For "Antifa" User Data From Anti-Trump Website
A District of Columbia Federal Judge has approved a government warrant seeking information about users and subscribers to an anti-Trump website which has been linked to rioting during the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C., but he added protections to safeguard "innocent users."
Chief Judge Robert Morin ruled that DreamHost, an LA-based web-hosting company, must turn over data about visitors to the website disruptj20.org, which is a home to political activists who organized protests at the time of Donald Trump's inauguration as U.S. president in January, many of whom have since morphed into the controversial "antifa" movement.
Morin, who will oversee review of the data, also said the government must explain what protocols it will use to make sure the data of "innocent users" is not seized by prosecutors, according to Reuters. Bloomberg adds that prosecutors would have to tell the judge which data it intended to seize.
“I’m trying to balance the First Amendment protections and the government’s need for this information,” Morin said. “My view here is that this best protects both legitimate interests.”
In the closely watched case, which could have a material chilling effect on similar activist website, the DOJ said it sought the records connected to the site amid concerns that it helped facilitate the planning of protests on Inauguration Day in which more than 200 people were arrested for rioting and vandalizing businesses in downtown Washington.
DreamHost resisted the original July 12 warrant, saying the scope of the warrant was too broad and trampled on the rights of 1.3 million visitors to the site, many of whom were simply exercising their First Amendment rights to express their political views. It also said the warrant would expose the identities of the 1.3 million people who had visited the site.
The Justice Department last week proposed amending the scope of its warrant to exclude the IP addresses of website visitors and limit the search only to records from July 1, 2016 to Jan. 20, 2017.
But DreamHost argued that the warrant was still too broad, as it could sweep in people who sent emails to disruptj20 addresses. The company objected to the two-step process that would require it to turn over data in bulk and let prosecutors search for and seize evidence of criminal involvement in the riots.
At Thuesday's hearing, Judge Morin said that he recognized the tension between free speech rights and law enforcement's need to search digital records for evidence. He said he added safeguards to his order granting the government's request for information in an effort to balance those two concerns.
According to Bloomberg, the warrant initially sought all data and records pertaining to disruptj20.org, including information about site visitors. Prosecutors said details on subscribers -- including names, addresses, phone numbers and the contents of email accounts within the disruptj20.org domain -- would help identify those who organized and participated in the riots.
Privacy advocates raised concerns that the warrant was an attempt by the Trump administration and the Justice Department under Attorney General Jeff Sessions to cast a “digital dragnet” to identify the president’s critics. As a result, on Tuesday, prosecutors amended their request, saying in part that while the government wants information on subscribers, it’s not interested in data logs containing information about visitors. Prosecutors also say they will set aside any information that doesn’t involve rioters and have it sealed.

The DOJ Breaks Identity Theft Crime Chain- First Three Arrests Are In Place
The DOJ, following Jeff Sessions’ wonderful guidance, has managed to once again expose a massive Internet scam. This week the DOJ informed the public of the conviction of a Artashes Darbinyan, 37, a man from California who performed a year-long scam worth $1.66 million.
The man got a 96-month prison sentence, and is to pay a fine of $1,557,97.
He collaborated with two men, Orbel Hakobyan and Albert Yagubyan who were sentenced to 24 months and 18 months of prison, respectively.
Darbinyan confessed to have managed two companies,Trademark Compliance Center (TCC) and Trademark Compliance Office (TCO) for two years, both of which targeted small businesses.
Darbinyan performed a well-thought mailing scam, while his partners falsely gave small businesses the opportunity to track their applications and trademarks. Both companies have been working with US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) and were able to track copyright infringements.
These fraudulent solicitations usually asked for a fee of $385 dollars for copyright protection services.
America’s economy suffered a great deal from Internet scam, amounting up to $200 billion, ever since 2005. Now, although reduced the damages is estimated at $9.1 billion.
Copyright theft is very common for China, which costs America $600 billion yearly.
Now, Donald trump and Jeff Sessions are working hard to put an end to this criminal wave. Trump signed a memorandum, demanding a federal investigation into China’s participation in all theft cases in America.
Small businesses are mostly affected by this occurrence, which should serve as caution for future managers and CEOs.
Three years ago, approximately 40 percent of the small businesses have been exposed to this crime, which costs people not only money, but jobs as well.
All individuals charged in the case are Armenian, which could mean possible links to the Armenian Power gang in California that has carried out similar operations in the past.
Aside from this gang, two others, like MS-13 and the Crips, have engaged into performing bank and mail fraud, and ultimately, identity theft.

Of course the 16th amendment was ratified. You're spreading fake news again.
The 16th amendment had been sent out in 1909 to the state governors for ratification by the state legislatures after having been passed by Congress. There were 48 states at that time, and three-fourths, or 36, of them were required to give their approval in order for it to be ratified. The process took almost the whole term of the Taft administration, from 1909 to 1913.
Knox had received responses from 42 states when he declared the 16th amendment ratified on February 25, 1913, just a few days before leaving office to make way for the administration of Woodrow Wilson. Knox acknowledged that four of those states (Utah, Conn, R.I. and N.H.) had rejected it, and he counted 38 states as having approved it. We will now examine some of the key evidence Bill Benson found regarding the approval of the amendment in many of those states.
In Kentucky, the legislature acted on the amendment without even having received it from the governor (the governor of each state was to transmit the proposed amendment to the state legislature). The version of the amendment that the Kentucky legislature made up and acted upon omitted the words "on income" from the text, so they weren't even voting on an income tax! When they straightened that out (with the help of the governor), the Kentucky senate rejected the amendment. Yet Philander Knox counted Kentucky as approving it!
In Oklahoma, the legislature changed the wording of the amendment so that its meaning was virtually the opposite of what was intended by Congress, and this was the version they sent back to Knox. Yet Knox counted Oklahoma as approving it, despite a memo from his chief legal counsel, Reuben Clark, that states were not allowed to change it in any way.
Attorneys who have studied the subject have agreed that Kentucky and Oklahoma should not have been counted as approvals by Philander Knox, and, moreover, if any state could be shown to have violated its own state constitution or laws in its approval process, then that state's approval would have to be thrown out. That gets us past the "presumptive conclusion" argument, which says that the actions of an executive official cannot be judged by a court, and admits that Knox could be wrong.
If we subtract Kentucky and Oklahoma from the 38 approvals above, the count of valid approvals falls to 36, the exact number needed for ratification. If any more states can be shown to have had invalid approvals, the 16th amendment must be regarded as null and void.
The state constitution of Tennessee prohibited the state legislature from acting on any proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution sent by Congress until after the next election of state legislators. The intent, of course, is to give the proposed amendment a chance to become an issue in the state legislative elections so that the people can have a voice in determining the outcome. It also provides a cooling off period to reduce the tendency to approve an idea just because it happens to be the moment's trend. You've probably already guessed that the Tennessee legislature did not hold off on voting for the amendment until after the next election, and you'd be right - they didn't; hence, they acted upon it illegally before they were authorized to do so. They also violated their own state constitution by failing to read the resolution on three different days as prescribed by Article II, Section 18. These state constitutional violations make their approval of the amendment null and void. Their approval is and was invalid, and it brings the number of approving states down to 35, one less than required for ratification.
Texas and Louisiana violated provisions in their state constitutions prohibiting the legislatures from empowering the federal government with any additional taxing authority. Now the number is down to 33.
Twelve other states, besides Tennessee, violated provisions in their constitutions requiring that a bill be read on three different days before voting on it. This is not a trivial requirement. It allows for a cooling off period; it enables members who may be absent one day to be present on another; it allows for a better familiarity with, and understanding of, the measure under consideration, since some members may not always read a bill or resolution before voting on it (believe it or not!). States violating this procedure were: Mississippi, Ohio, Arkansas, Minnesota, New Mexico, West Virginia, Indiana, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Colorado, and Illinois. Now the number is reduced to 21 states legally ratifying the amendment.
When Secretary Knox transmitted the proposed amendment to the states, official certified and sealed copies were sent. Likewise, when state results were returned to Knox, it was required that the documents, including the resolution that was actually approved, be properly certified, signed, and sealed by the appropriate official(s). This is no more than any ordinary citizen has to do in filing any legal document, so that it's authenticity is assured; otherwise it is not acceptable and is meaningless. How much more important it is to authenticate a constitutional amendment! Yet a number of states did not do this, returning uncertified, unsigned, and/or unsealed copies, and did not rectify their negligence even after being reminded and warned by Knox. The most egregious offenders were Ohio, California, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Minnesota - which did not send any copy at all, so Knox could not have known what they even voted on! Since four of these states were already disqualified above, California is now subtracted from the list of valid approvals, reducing it to 20.
I bet you never thought that politicians of the past were as crooked at the criminals of their day. Now you are stuck justifying their actions.

If by chance the investigation blows up big time and unfolds like Watergate we all know a movie ala "All the President's Men" is eventually going to be made. Casting wise I think Robert De Niro as Mueller is a no-brainer :lol

De Niro's legacy is set in stone. When that man dies the country will mourn regardless of his political beliefs. Contrast if Trump died I'm willing to be 25% of the country would mourn for a day or two before getting on with their lives, 50% would laugh and drink to Trump's rotting corpse and the other 25% wouldn't give a shit.

slammed Trump in a new interview (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/features/hugh-hefners-son-cooper-plans-remake-playboy-my-generation-1031468) with The Hollywood Reporter.
“We don’t respect the guy.
There’s a personal embarrassment because Trump is somebody who has been on our cover,”
Cooper said, speaking on behalf of himself and his father.
