Trump ‘hates’ Mattis letter and rages about news coverage suggesting he needs ‘adult day care’
Trump hates the media coverage “even more.” Acosta said that Mattis and other people like White House Chief of Staff John Kelly were often perceived as the adults in the room. (https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/12/21/18151079/mattis-adults-in-the-room)
the president once again irritated by this notion here in Washington that

'They're going to absolutely crush him': Trump is reportedly panicking and 'losing it' as Democrats finally gain the upper hand
He didn't realize he's playing a losing game.
His performance in the government funding fight, in which he first promised he'd be
"proud" to shut down the government in exchange for border wall spending,
then backed down from the fight, and then reversed himself again,
proved he's a terrible negotiator and
an even worse statesman.
“He’s losing it,” a former White House official (https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018/12/trump-is-flailing-fuming-and-jealous-of-jared) told Gabriel Sherman of Vanity Fair.
“He doesn’t know which way to turn.”
Not only will Pelosi's House be able to block his preferred legislation,
it will also besiege the president with investigations.
“They’re absolutely going to crush him," one Republican told Sherman of the president.
"He has no idea what’s coming his way.”

It’s official. We lost the Cold War.
Trump’s unraveling of the post-war order accelerated this week when he announced
a willy-nilly pullout from Syria (https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2018/12/21/mattis-departure-sends-shock-waves-abroad-allies-question-us-approach-global-crises/?utm_term=.d50e20de3d20),
leaving in the lurch scores of allies who participated in the campaign against the Islamic State,
throwing our Kurdish partners to the wolves,
isolating Israel, and
giving Russia (https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/trumps-withdrawal-from-syria-marks-a-win-for-putin/2018/12/20/59c685e8-0491-11e9-b5df-5d3874f1ac36_story.html?utm_term=.39ccc01bfe48) and Iran free rein in the Middle East.
Then word emerged that Trump is ordering another hasty withdrawal, from Afghanistan (https://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-administration-is-considering-substantial-afghan-troop-drawdown-11545341452).
the president’s estrangement of allies and emboldening of Russia and China.
we don’t need an alternative-history show to imagine a Soviet victory in the Cold War. We have Trump.
Mattis spelled out the views of his that are apparently not “aligned” with Trump’s:
“treating allies with respect,”
believing in the 29 NATO democracies (https://www.nato.int/cps/em/natohq/topics_52044.htm)(Trump has repeatedly raised questions about NATO’s utility);
respecting the 74-nation “defeat-ISIS coalition” (https://www.defense.gov/explore/story/Article/1718356/5-things-to-know-about-the-fight-against-isis-in-syria/)(now to be abandoned in Syria); and
recognizing threats from China and Russia, which “want to shape a world consistent with their authoritarian model
. . . at the expense of their neighbors, America and our allies.”
a Soviet leader hardly could have outlined a better scenario than Trump has created for Putin:A rift between the United States and NATO allies over the future of the alliance.
A U.S. demand that Russia be returned to the Group of Seven (https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/trump-calls-for-russia-to-be-reinstated-to-g7-threatens-allies-on-trade/2018/06/08/6a13d876-6b15-11e8-bea7-c8eb28bc52b1_story.html?utm_term=.96eceacf48fc), as Russia continues provocations in Ukraine.
A U.S. threat to pull out of the World Trade Organization, (https://www.ft.com/content/32e17984-aca2-11e8-89a1-e5de165fa619) and a round of U.S.-imposed tariffs that severely weakened (https://www.cfr.org/blog/trump-china-and-steel-tariffs-day-wto-died)it.
A U.S. president abandoning human rights, accepting Saudi Arabia’s murder (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/20/world/middleeast/trump-saudi-khashoggi.html) of a U.S.-based journalist and embracing repressive leaders around the globe.
A U.S. president creating a rift with Europe over Iran (the nuclear agreement) and climate change (the Paris accord).
A U.S. president embracing as “very honorable” North Korea’s brutal dictator (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2018/04/25/trump-now-calls-north-koreas-kim-very-honorable-lets-not-forget-whom-hes-talking-about/?utm_term=.86409df35634)without any tangible concessions on nuclear weapons.
A U.S.-launched trade war that, the Federal Reserve said (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/19/business/fed-interest-rates.html) this week, is partially responsible for cooling worldwide growth.
Lost confidence among Americans in elections, the Justice Department, the FBI, the courts and the free press.
And the loss of a bipartisan consensus against the Russian threat.
Forty percent of Republicans called Russia an ally or friend in a Gallup poll, (https://news.gallup.com/poll/237137/republicans-positive-relations-russia.aspx)up from 22 percent in 2014.
Trump accepted Putin’s word over that of U.S. intelligence agencies.
Trump has chafed at aides’ insistence on Russia sanctions, and
the few who could resist Trump’s pro-Putin instincts are gone: H.R. McMaster, Rex Tillerson, John Kelly and now Mattis.
29 years after the wall fell (https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/berlin-wall-fall-anniversary/index.html),
Trump is handing Moscow the Cold War victory
it could never win.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/its-official-we-lost-the-cold-war/2018/12/21/1c3b52b0-0565-11e9-b5df-5d3874f1ac36_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.72308d2ddfec&wpisrc=nl_most&wpmm=1 (https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/its-official-we-lost-the-cold-war/2018/12/21/1c3b52b0-0565-11e9-b5df-5d3874f1ac36_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.72308d2ddfec&wpisrc=nl_most&wpmm=1)

Trump has been telling close associates he feels “totally and completely abandoned,” and
that no one is on his side,
while also privately confiding some on the White House are working against him —
including son-in-law Jared Kushner. :lol
Trump’s relationship with his kids “has grown more removed and that he feels he does not have a friend in the White House.”
president reportedly disagrees with Kushner and Ivanka Trump “much of the time,”
but is unable to tell them “no” and
has used outgoing Chief of Staff John Kelly to do his dirty work —
which led to strained relations and may be a contributing factor behind his imminent departure.
the embattled Trump is also abandoning his longtime friends,
Mr. Trump has spent far less time lately with older friends at White House events,
appearing briefly for pictures to be taken before heading upstairs instead of mingling.

For Trump, ‘a War Every Day,’ Waged Increasingly Alone
At the midpoint of his term,
the president has grown more sure of his own judgment :lol
and more isolated from anyone else’s than at any point since he took office.
When President Trump grows frustrated with advisers during meetings,
which is not an uncommon occurrence,
he sits back in his chair, crosses his arms and scowls. Often he erupts.
“Fucking idiots!” he calls his aides. :lol ( the sentiment is mutual! )
For two years, Mr. Trump has waged war against his own government,
convinced that people around him are fools.
Angry that they resist his wishes,
uninterested in the details of their briefings,
he becomes especially agitated
when they tell him he does not have the power to do what he wants,
which makes him suspicious that they are secretly undermining him.
Mr. Trump is said by advisers to be
consumed by the multiplying investigations that have taken down
his personal lawyer (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/12/nyregion/michael-cohen-sentence-trump.html?module=inline),
campaign chairman (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/07/us/politics/manafort-special-counsel-lies.html?module=inline),
national security adviser (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/18/us/politics/michael-flynn-sentencing.html?module=inline) and
family foundation (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/18/nyregion/ny-ag-underwood-trump-foundation.html?module=inline).
He rails against enemies, who often were once friends,
nursing a deep sense of betrayal and grievance as they turn on him.

even if they hold enough votes in the Senate to block removal.
“Nothing he’s going to face in the next two years is going to be like the challenges of the previous two years,”
“Given the staff turnover and
the increasing feeling that the president is encircled or cornered by legal and political enemies,
it’s entirely possible it gets worse, not better.” :lol Of course, MUCH worse! :lol

The GOP Ends Its One-Party Rule In Shambles
The government is literally shut down as Republicans get ready to hand over the House to Democrats.
Former Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla.), who left Congress in 2017 and recently gave up his party affiliation (https://www.tampabay.com/florida-politics/buzz/2018/10/15/former-congressman-quits-gop/), said the Republican Party’s unified control of government was
“defined by remarkably damaging wins and complete capitulation of separation of powers.”
"Congress spent two years behaving as a political committee of the president,
not a branch of government empowered with independence by the Constitution."
ACA turned out to be far more popular than they anticipated and repealing it was far harder (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/democrats-congress-obamacare-win-midterms_us_5bdc9b23e4b04367a87c7a5b) than expected
as well ― despite controlling both chambers of Congress.
Congress’ biggest legislative accomplishment was passing the new tax law, but it fell far short of what was promised.
There were deep, permanent cuts for corporations, and a more modest cut for individuals that expires at the end of 2025 (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/gop-tax-bill_us_5b99781ae4b0162f4733a701).
The tax bill was not as popular as Republicans expected, and they largely abandoned it as a campaign message.

MNUCHIN’S ATTEMPT TO SOOTHE THE MARKETS BACKFIRES SPECTACULARLY
The Treasury Secretary, who’s been described (https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2017/10/will-steve-mnuchin-mediocrity-tank-tax-reform) by various former Goldman Sachs colleagues as
unmemorable and not as smart as Gary Cohn (https://www.vanityfair.com/people/gary-cohn#intcid=dt-hot-link),and by a former White House staffer as
“a political novice who doesn’t have the substantive background to do the job he’s being asked to do,”
decided that with the markets in free-fall, it was his duty to
call up the nation‘s six largest banks and yell “Don’t panic!” into the phone.
Then, he decided to tell the world about the contents of those phone calls via Twitter,
letting everyone know they can breathe easy
about a problem no one was worried about until Mnuchin brought it up (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-12-24/mnuchin-bid-to-calm-markets-risks-making-bad-situation-worse):
Mnuchin looked to quash big-bank worries
over plunging stock markets and
reports that President Donald Trump (https://www.vanityfair.com/people/donald-trump#intcid=dt-hot-link) might move on his Federal Reserve chief
by assuring the financial community on Sunday that market liquidity is in good shape.
Some market participants, however, questioned
why Mnuchin answered a question that no one was asking.
Even after recent market losses, a liquidity squeeze or fresh financial crisis hadn’t been on the market’s mind.
Mnuchin’s assertion of ample liquidity risked raising doubts.
Even with U.S. stock markets on the skids for weeks, and the federal government in a partial shutdown since Saturday,
many market-watchers wondered whether there’s something more systemic going on.
“My initial instinct is this isn’t necessarily a positive thing, because it portrays that there’s worries that
there is a bigger, broader issue
than what I think is just typical re-positioning toward the end of the year,”
“Mnuchin isn’t helping,” she said. “For him to come out and explain what Trump is expressing is bizarre. It adds to the nervousness.”

Trump has a story of how his presidency’s going. Here’s what the numbers say.
It's not pretty.
According to Donald Trump, who was elected president just over two years ago, his administration is
among the greatest in history,
with the greatest economy (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/09/07/president-trumps-repeated-claim-greatest-economy-history-our-country/?utm_term=.447966a628b3) in American history and
a nation finally respected again (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1077225810329825281).
As he told (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2018/09/04/trump-nobodys-ever-done-a-better-job-than-im-doing-as-president/?utm_term=.913acb57e0e3) Bob Woodward this summer,
“nobody’s ever done a better job than I’m doing as president.”
“In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country.” Lots of :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol (at UN)
$55.5 billion: Highest trade deficit in a decade
Trump said the trade deficit would drop like never before (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7IqQqZuYkE):
“The trade deficit was only $84 billion when Bill Clinton was first inaugurated. So, we’ve taken from $84 billion, which is a lot of money, to now $800 billion. And going up, going fast unless I become president. You will see a drop like you’ve never seen before. You have never seen before.”
Despite Trump’s singular focus on trade (https://thinkprogress.org/trade-deficit-hits-high-despite-trump-promise-to-fix-2b4efcb591dd/),
America is importing more goods, while exporting less, than it ever has.
The federal government announced (https://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/Press-Release/current_press_release/ft900.pdf) earlier this month that America’s trade deficit hit $55.5 billion in October, rising almost a billion dollars from September.
This is a ten-year high.
Rising imports for goods were the main driver — that month’s trade deficit in goods hit $76.9 billion.
3.9 million: Number of children without health insurance
When MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough asked candidate Trump in 2017, “So all Americans will get health care of some sort?” Trump said (http://info.msnbc.com/_news/2016/02/17/35127534-full-transcript-msnbcs-town-hall-with-donald-trump):
“We’re going to take care of them.
We’re going to take care of them.
We have to take care of them.
Now, that’s not single payer.
That’s not anything.
That’s just human decency.”
The reality is much darker.
For the first time in almost a decade, the rate of uninsured children in the United States increased (https://thinkprogress.org/us-rate-of-uninsured-children-increases-for-the-first-time-in-nearly-a-decade-f802fdd064bb/),
0: miles of new border wall
Trump has said multiple times that he has already begun constructing his border wall, despite constant fights with Congress to appropriate the money to his administration.
“A lot of the wall is built,” he said (https://www.marketwatch.com/story/transcript-of-the-heated-exchange-between-trump-pelosi-and-schumer-2018-12-11) this month in the Oval Office. “It’s been very effective.”
3.3 million: The number of acres of conserved land for which Trump eliminated protections
Trump said (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ1HbipsmdE):
“We’re going to conserve our beautiful natural habitats, reserve, and
so important, we’re going to take care of those habitats.
We’re going to take care of our reserves.
And we’re gonna take such great care of our resources.
Our resources are vital.
We’re gonna take care of those resources.”
27 percent: World’s confidence in American leadership at historic low
Trump routinely says (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOAn0G80x4s) that America is more respected now than in the past:
“We are respected again, I can tell you that. We are respected again. A lot of things have happened. We’re respected again.”
45 percent: Highest opposition to Supreme Court nominee
Trump said (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSRkCAWpMzE) his second nominee to the Supreme Court,
Brett Kavanaugh, was the most deserving person in the country: “There is no one in America more qualified for this position, and no one more deserving.”
15.4: Gigawatts of capacity in coal plant retirements — a record
Trump said (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVjemTen0P8) during the campaign he would revitalize the coal industry:
“Coal is coming back.
Clean coal is coming back, 100 percent…
We’re going to bring the coal industry back 100 percent.”
78.6: Lower life expectancy
Trump said (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/716222480738869248), simply, as a candidate:
“If I win, all of the bad things happening in the U.S. will be rapidly reversed!”
2.7 percent: Greenhouse gas emissions saw their biggest jump worldwide in 2018
Trump said (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/11/28/trumps-bizarre-cleanest-air-argument-ignoring-climate-change/?utm_term=.d05c4ddf19b0) in 2015:
“And you know what I want to do? I want really immaculate air.”
But the air is not getting cleaner.
17 investigations
It’s not just the Mueller investigation —
there are actually 17 total investigations (https://www.wired.com/story/mueller-investigation-trump-russia-complete-guide/)
targeting Trump and his businesses,

Conservative Economists Reportedly Think Trump's Tweets Are Tanking the Stock Market (https://splinternews.com/conservative-economists-reportedly-think-trumps-tweets-1831320055)
Here’s the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday (https://www.wsj.com/articles/as-market-rout-continues-trump-stands-firm-on-fed-and-shutdown-11545765737):
Gary Cohn, the president’s former top economic adviser, told the White House recently that Mr. Trump’s tweet declaring himself a “Tariff Man” was unhelpful and triggered substantial losses in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, people familiar with the matter said.
Mr. Trump tweeted on Dec. 4 shortly after a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping appeared to inspire hope among investors that the U.S. would reach a cease-fire in the trade war with China.
Since then, financial markets have fallen further, with the Dow closing on Christmas Eve at its lowest level in more than 15 months.
On Christmas Day, a former senior Republican Treasury Department official spoke to Mr. Mnuchin and
told him that Mr. Trump’s tweets and “dysfunctional” governing style were causing stock indexes to plummet, the former official said.
This person suggested that Mr. Mnuchin tell Mr. Trump to stop tweeting—advice the president frequently gets and seldom seems to heed.
“Mnuchin is under the gun,” an anonymous source “close to the White House”

Conservative columnist lambastes Trump for bowing down to Vladimir Putin while standing in front of American military
Jen Rubin, a Washington Post columnist, explained Trump’s “highly inappropriate” conduct on MSNBC’s “Meet the Press Daily” with guest host Katy Tur on Wednesday.
“Today marks the president’s first ever trip to an active war zone, and he did it after facing blistering criticism for not making such a trip earlier, as other presidents have,” Tur explained.
“Jennifer,
it used to be you that didn’t do any politicking while you were abroad
— that used to be the norm,” Tur reminded. “We’re just taking it for granted now that he’ll visit a war zone, like he did today, and trash his political opponents like he did with the shutdown.”
“Yeah, this has been
a pattern through the campaign and into his presidency where he treats the troops like props,”
Rubin replied.
“No president in my memory has ever made such political speeches, political slurs, attacks in front of the troops,”
“It converts the troops into a partisan plaything,
which is very dangerous and very unusual in American politics,”
the Syria move makes sense if you think
he wanted to give Vladimir Putin a big present
before the end of the year or he had made a commitment to Vladimir Putin,”
“Because the powers that benefit from this are number one, Iran, but number two Russia
Vladimir Putin, who is benefiting hugely from the chaos in our government, from Trump’s foreign policy, from his attacks on our allies — this is
exactly what the Russians have wanted for years,”
“Confusion,
chaos,
an America that is not willing to stick to its commitments,
willing to turn on the Kurds,
willing to turn on those that they’ve made promises to,” Rubin said.
“So I think part of
this has to be his relationship with Russia.”

Ex-CIA official slams Trump for
using troops in Iraq as ‘props’ after years of trashing military figures
Trump for using troops as “props” in his Christmas Iraq visit (https://www.rawstory.com/2018/12/trump-flies-iraq-visit-troops-first-time/) while
spending so much of his time as president criticizing military families and leaders.
“Trump will use this belated troop visit to deflect from the rhetorical bodyslam [outgoing Defense Secretary Jim Mattis] delivered to him & his worldview last week.”
“The record shows Trump has consistently
used our military as a prop for his personal and political advantage,”
Even as a candidate, Price tweeted, Trump “took aim” at beloved figures when
he jabbed at the late John McCain by claiming he likes people “who weren’t captured” and
got in a feud with the Khans, a Gold Star family who appeared at the Democratic National Convention.
“Trump authorized his first military mission not from the Situation Room, but over the dinner table, which also included Jared Kushner and Steve Bannon” the Obama administration alumnus noted.
“The raid resulted in the death of a US Navy SEAL, whose death he blamed on ‘the generals,'”
from his failed response to the Niger ambush and
his expensive (and ultimately scrapped) military parade to
his decision to deploy troops to the US-Mexico border to meet the much-hyped “migrant caravan” and
his attacks on storied Adm. Bill McRaven.
“This list is illustrative, not exhaustive, and more examples abound,”
“But suffice to say this is a president who
has consistently put his own interests — personal and political — ahead of the country’s, and that includes those of our service members.”

Fox News falls in ratings for first time in 17 years after hosts criticize President Trump
Fox News falls behind MSNBC
Fox News finished the week of Dec. 17 in second place in the cable news ratings race —
the week the conservative network, which is known for its relentless support of President Donald Trump, spent significant airtime and webspace criticizing the nation's leader.
MSNBC topped Fox News for the first time in that time period since 2000
Brian Kilmeade ripped into the president over his abrupt announcement (https://www.salon.com/2018/12/21/sarah-huckabee-sanders-gets-hammered-by-fox-news-for-trumps-syria-policy-he-just-refounded-isis/) that he wants to withdraw all 2,000 U.S. troops from Syria
"He is doing exactly, if not worse, than what President Obama did."
Over on FoxNews.com, a headline read (https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/marc-thiessen-trump-is-about-to-repeat-obamas-mistake-in-the-middle-east): "Trump is about to repeat Obama's mistake in the Middle East."
"When your enemies are cheering," wrote former George W. Bush speechwriter Marc Thiessen, "you have made a mistake."
Judge Andrew Napolitano, a longtime friend of Trump and a Fox News contributor, told anchor Smith that the White House occupant
could already be under secret indictment (https://www.salon.com/2018/12/18/fox-news-judge-napolitano-trump-may-have-already-been-secretly-indicted/) for allegedly conspiring with Michael Cohen (https://www.salon.com/2018/11/29/donald-trump-slams-michael-cohen-as-weak-after-his-former-fixer-pleads-guilty-to-lying-to-congress/),
"There's ample evidence — this doesn't require too much analysis — to indict the president," Napolitano told Smith.
news about Fox News declining ratings also come in the same week that host
Tucker Carlson faced an advertiser exodus (https://www.salon.com/2018/12/19/more-than-a-dozen-advertisers-dump-tucker-carlson-after-fox-news-hosts-racist-attacks-on-immigrants/)in response to the controversial remarks he recently made about immigration (https://www.salon.com/2018/12/17/fox-news-tucker-carlson-dropped-by-major-advertiser-for-claiming-poor-immigrants-make-us-dirtier/)— specifically, that it makes the U.S. "poorer and dirtier."

Not on racial pretenses. If Europe was along our Southern Border, he wouldn't be saying this shit. I won't ever agree with a damn wall.
And since when would an archaic wall really keep someone out the country? It's dumb. If someone really wants in, you think a wall would stop them? If you do then I don't know what to say.
Spend that money on Flint Michigan and give them potable water. Spend it on the thousands of homeless people (homeless vets too). But for a stupid wall? Hell no tbh.

Do you guys not see that a wall is a deterrent from people making that trip from Central America? That if there were a wall, parents would be MUCH less likely to send their children if they knew there was a high wall to scale and the border was not WIDE OPEN? That we wouldn't have to spend ? millions educating and feeding these kids? Sure, maybe, it wouldn't stop young men from scaling it but it'd put a dent in the women and children coming across?

Trump Brags To Troops About A Fictional Giant Pay Raise He Got Them
The president told military personnel in Iraq that they’ll get a raise of over 10 percent, their first in a decade.
But it’s 2.6 percent, and they get a hike every year.
Many of the troops in attendance may have been
surprised to learn they hadn’t seen a pay increase in more than a decade.
“Is anybody here willing to give up the big pay raise you just got?” Trump said, asking for a show of hands.
“You haven’t gotten one in more than 10 years. More than 10 years.
And we got you a big one. I got you a big one. I got you a big one.”
military members have seen a pay raise in each of the last 10 years (https://militarypay.defense.gov/Pay/Basic-Pay/AnnualPayRaise/), ranging from 1 percent to 3.9 percent,
They even saw pay bumps when other federal workers were subjected to a three-year pay freeze (https://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits/2017/01/obamas-track-record-federal-pay-and-benefits/134485/) in the wake of the Great Recession.
The fact-checking site noted that
the last single year without a military pay raise was 1983 (https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2018/may/10/donald-trump/did-donald-trump-sign-first-military-pay-raise-10-/), and that was only because the date of the raise was shifted from Oct. 1 to Jan. 1.
Trump has claimed the military budget he signed was the biggest ever ― it isn’t ― and
he’s taken credit for passing a law that allows veterans to use private doctors if they can’t get quick care through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
That law was actually signed by Barack Obama (https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2018/oct/02/donald-trump/donald-trump-gop-finally-passed-veterans-choice-af/).

The lawsuit against the Trump Foundation could be a springboard to investigations of the Trump Organization.
Why?
"There's nothing but overlap"
"It is likely that the investigation into the Trump Foundation has sufficiently overlapped with the Trump Organization that (state) investigators would be justified in extending their investigation into the Trump Organization," he said.
The foundation itself had no employees, instead relying on Trump Organization staffers to cut its checks. Prior to taking office in 2017, Trump turned over day-to-day control of his business to his adult sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, and Allen Weisselberg, the Trump Organization's chief financial officer. Both sons were among the charity's board members, while Weisselberg was listed as its treasurer. Weisselberg claimed not to know (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/new-york-files-suit-against-president-trump-alleging-his-charity-engaged-in-illegal-conduct/2018/06/14/c3cbf71e-6fc9-11e8-bd50-b80389a4e569_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.09c0906d2127) he was the foundation's treasurer until investigators probing the charity told him.https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/probe-trump-s-charity-could-crash-mack-truck-his-real-n950576

Family and businesses at risk?
something has been missing from every analysis of the indictment question I’ve seen: whether you can indict a sitting President’s eponymous corporate entities. Under Dellinger’s analysis, you’d have to include the Trump Organization in any conspiracy involving a Trump Tower in Moscow — it was the entity that signed the Letter of Intent, would be the entity that would obtain funding, and would be the entity that would profit...
...For virtually every other legal situation, it seems to me, existing in both natural and corporate form offers protection that can save both. But if you’re the President of the United States, simultaneously existing — and criminally conspiring — in corporate form may create all sorts of additional exposure any normal President would normally be protected fromhttps://www.emptywheel.net/2018/12/01/mike-pence-would-not-be-able-to-pardon-the-trump-organization/

There is no question that when you apprehend 300,000+ illegals a year you need a lot of judges.Had we hired 110 judges five years ago, the backlog would be gone by now.

'Embarrassing' and 'entirely inappropriate': One of the most highly decorated former US Army generals blasts Trump's visit with US troops in Iraq
Former four-star Gen. Barry McCaffrey, who was awarded three Purple Heart medals, two Distinguished Service Crosses, and two Silver Stars, described Trump's visit as "embarrassing" and "entirely inappropriate"
it was "a good thing that the president went to Iraq and visited the troops" but suggested that
what was supposed to be a morale-boosting visit between troops and the commander in chief
instead became a political affair.
McCaffrey also criticized Trump, who did not meet with Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi during the trip, for snubbing the leader of Iraq.
"The whole notion of going into Iraq and not genuflecting … the Iraqis is simply outrageous," McCaffrey said.
"And announcing we're going to use it as the site from which we'll conduct combat operations in other nations, I mean,
it's just inciting Iraqi sovereignty concerns.
He also criticized one of
Trump's falsehoods about the military: the claim that US troops received their first pay raise "in more than 10 years" under his administration.
"It's not a lie if you believe it," McCaffrey said, quoting "Seinfeld" character George Costanza.
"The troops all should have known it was complete nonsense, but they were sort of excited the commander in chief was there, and they were willing to blow by it."

12-28-2018, 05:25 PM
My guess is most of the soldiers don't consider it politicking because they're not really thinking about the event in terms of how it will be seen by the public. It's the President of the United States in the room with them, a once in a lifetime opportunity for almost anyone. Their perspective in the moment is limited to themselves and their fellow soldiers.
Also, it's human nature to accept and wear swag. We've all seen how crazy people get about T-shirts being thrown into the stands at sporting events, and those are usually just a collection of sponsor logos on a cheap cotton shirt.
Those in charge should do more to ensure events like this don't come off looking like military endorsements, but ultimately I'm not worried about any implications. Most Americans see this for what it is: a narcissist with a desperate need for approval throwing his branded swag to people because it makes him feel loved.

NAFTA was created by BigCorp and the wealthy precisely to send jobs and factories to MX.
His new NAFTA is essentially the old NAFTA
Here are some key differences between Trump's new trade deal and NAFTA
The Trump administration's new trade deal with Canada and Mexico leaves much of the old North American Free Trade Agreement intact.
There are some key differences, however, particularly when it comes to the dairy and auto industries.
The updated agreement, the subject of more than a year of intense negotiations between the three countries, includes some high-profile compromises from both Washington and Ottawa.
