Diocese apologizes after students mock Native American at D.C. rally
By ASSOCIATED PRESS

01/19/2019 04:04 PM EST

A diocese in Kentucky has apologized after videos emerged showing students from an all-male Catholic high school mocking Native Americans outside the Lincoln Memorial after a rally in Washington.

The Indigenous Peoples March in Washington on Friday coincided with the March for Life, which drew thousands of anti-abortion protesters, including a group from Covington Catholic High School in Park Hills.

Videos circulating online show a youth staring at and standing extremely close to Nathan Phillips, an elderly Native American man singing and playing a drum.

Other students, some wearing Covington clothing and many wearing red "Make America Great Again" hats and sweatshirts, surrounded them, laughing and jeering.

In a joint statement to the Cincinnati Enquirer , the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington and Covington Catholic High School apologized to Phillips. Officials said they are investigating and will take "appropriate action, up to and including expulsion."

"We extend our deepest apologies to Mr. Phillips," the statement read. "This behavior is opposed to the Church's teachings on the dignity and respect of the human person."

I am still thinking about the State of the Union speech,

================

Donald Trump storming to the Capitol to (https://twitter.com/intent/like?tweet_id=1086984547856732161)insist he be given his night of pomp and pageantry is a glorious one.

, Pelosi's deputy chief of staff Drew Hammill notes that (https://twitter.com/Drew_Hammill/status/1087026147630563328)there was no "written acceptance"; Trump is yet again lying.

As to Trump's absolutely wonderful threat to just show up and give his speech anyway, there may be some problems with that.

As in, it would appear to be logistically impossible,

due to House rules

Trump is not in charge of Congress no matter how much the voices in his head insist otherwise.

But it would be super to see him try.

The man is seething, absolutely seething, and he’s not going to let this go.

Book by Former Staff Member Describes a White House ‘Out of Control’

“Team of Vipers,” an inside account of working there written by Cliff Sims, a former communications staff member and Trump loyalist who worked on the campaign.

describes a nest of back-stabbing and duplicity within the West Wing, a narrative by now familiar from other books and news media reports.

But Mr. Sims, who left last year after clashing with Mr. Kelly, is one of the few people to attach his name to descriptions of goings-on at the White House

that are not always flattering to Mr. Trump, and

many of the scenes are not particularly flattering to anyone, including himself.

“It’s impossible to deny how absolutely out of control the White House staff — again, myself included — was at times,”

The president often comes across as

unfamiliar with Washington and

stymied by aspects of the job.

Mr. Trump was unsettled by the condition of the West Wing, which he found dilapidated.

He explained in detail to aides

how important the chyrons on television are, because so many people consume programs muted. :lol

painfully awkward interactions with Paul D. Ryan, the former speaker of the House,

during efforts to repeal the health care law and

after the Charlottesville white nationalist riots.

During the legislative discussions, according to Mr. Sims,

Mr. Trump abruptly left the Oval Office during a meeting with Mr. Ryan

to watch television in the adjacent dining room, before returning some moments later.

Feuds and chaos among the staff occupy much of the book.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, explaining to Mr. Trump that

little could be done about a journalist he did not care for

when he asked why the person could not be “suspended.” :lol

Ivanka Trump Lied About Shutting Down Her Business As She Gets New Chinese Trademarks

Ivanka Trump is using her dad’s trade war to get new trademarks from Chima after she supposedly shut down her fashion line.
The AP reported: (https://www.apnews.com/2ffd383b26d24597aa4aefbf4e5def48)

The Chinese government has granted Ivanka Trump’s company preliminary approval for another five trademarks this month, as her father’s administration pushes ahead on trade negotiations with China.

Four trademarks, including child care centers, sunglasses and wedding dresses, were approved on Sunday.

A fifth, covering brokerage, charitable fundraising and art valuation services, was approved on Jan.6, according to online trademark office records.

The applications were filed in 2016 and 2017. If no one objects, they will be finalized after 90 days.

As former White House ethics official Walter Shaub noted:

Ivanka Trump is still violating ethics rules

Supposedly, the president’s daughter is a senior White House adviser, which means that

there is a massive conflict of interest in her receiving trademarks from the Chinese government while the administration is engaged in trade negotiations with China.

Ivanka Trump didn’t really close down her business.

She is still engaging in the same corrupt abuses of her position as before. (https://www.politicususa.com/2018/06/28/ivanka-trump-got-a-china-bribe-the-same-day-that-trump-dropped-sanctions.html)

For the Trumps, corruption is the family business, and

“TRUMP IS SCREAMING. HE’S SO MAD AT RUDY”:

GIULIANI’S FATE IS UNCERTAIN AFTER BOTCHED INTERVIEWS

As Giuliani’s unforced errors pile up, former West Wing officials and 2016 campaign veterans are privately debating what’s gone wrong with Rudy.

New documents poke more holes in Giuliani’s story about Trump Tower Moscow

Giuliani claimed "no plans were ever made."

That story was undermined by the release of new documents showing detailed architectural renderings and financial details for the project.

The documents (https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/azeenghorayshi/here-are-the-trump-moscow-plans?ref=hpsplash&bftw=&utm_term=4ldqpfp#4ldqpfp), published Tuesday by BuzzFeed News, are a direct rebuke to Giuliani,

The president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., also sought to downplay the Moscow project in an an interview on with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Monday. “The reality is, this wasn’t a deal — you know, I think, we don’t know the developer. We don’t know the site. We don’t know anything about it,”

The detailed plains would have made Trump Tower Moscow

the tallest building in Europe,

at more than 1,516 feet.

It would have included luxury offices,

apartments,

a hotel, and

an Ivanka Trump-branded spa

with the Trump Organization keeping significant creative control.

MIKE POMPEO IS ALREADY CONTEMPLATING THE POST-TRUMP LIFE

Republicans are trying to entice the Secretary of State to run for an open Senate seat in 2020, and

he appears to be taking it seriously.

Depending on how soon he would have to step down in order to run,

Pompeo’s resignation could be a major political headache for Trump.

the president has found a more steadfast ally in Pompeo;

finding a replacement would likely be a long slog, and

one that would give Democrats in the Senate yet another opportunity to rake a Cabinet nominee over the coals.

GOP committee passes resolution to cancel Republican primary due to

Trump’s ‘effective presidency’ :lol

“RNC Resolutions Committee just voted unanimously to “undivided support” for Trump and his “effective presidency,” clearing way for passage before full GOP governing body on Friday,”

The Resolution Committee bill must pass through the full RNC to be adopted by the party. Presumably, the act would not stop any other Republicans from running, but the RNC would refuse to endorse the opponent.

Trump gets just 41 or 42% in head to head match ups against 7 likely Democratic candidates for President.

He trails Joe Biden 53-41,

Bernie Sanders 51-41,

Kamala Harris 48-41,

Beto O’Rourke 47-41,

Elizabeth Warren 48-42, and

Cory Booker and Kirsten Gillibrand each 47-42.

Trump’s low 40s support for reelection essentially tracks with his approval numbers.

Only 40% of voters approve of the job he’s doing to 57% who disapprove.

Security officials rejected Kushner's top secret clearance, but were overruled (https://theweek.com/speedreads/819735/report-security-officials-rejected-kushners-secret-clearance-but-overruled)

https://images.theweek.com/sites/default/files/styles/tw_image_6_4/public/gettyimages-1076549384.jpg?itok=Qv5v9EYc&resize=450x300

Two career White House security specialists rejected Jared Kushner's application for a top-secret security clearance, but a supervisor dismissed their recommendation and approved it

Their decision came after Kushner's

FBI background check raised red flags, and

there were concerns about his foreign entanglements.

The supervisor, Carl Kline, became director of the personnel security office in the Executive Office of the President in May 2017, and

Kushner wasn't the only person to get a pass:

Kline overruled at least 30 other rejections of incoming Trump officials,

NBC News reports.

Prior to Kline's arrival, it was rare for rejections to be overruled.

Kushner didn't just want a top secret clearance —

he tried to get access to sensitive compartmented information, or SCI, which is a higher designation.

SCI material includes transcripts of intercepted foreign communications and

reporting from CIA sources, and

it's the CIA that decides whether to give SCI clearance to top White House officials.

After they conducted their background check on Kushner, NBC News reports,

one CIA agent called the White House security division and

asked how Kushner managed to get a top secret clearance.

Ultimately, Kushner was not granted clearance for SCI,

https://theweek.com/speedreads/819735/report-security-officials-rejected-kushners-secret-clearance-but-overruled

And Muller knows at least all this, and more. :lol

:lol

and it's all too complicated "deep state" shit for the rural rubes, and stupid evangelicals to understand.

House Republicans just pulled a dirty trick to stop Democratic majority from investigating Trump

The House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep.Adam Schiff (D-CA) is ready

to reopen the panel’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia and

to reexamine the veracity of the testimony proffered to the committee by various administration luminaries while it was under the control of GOP members more interested in protecting President Trump

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has yet to fill any of the Republican seats on the committee except one:

Democrats managed to have all their committee assignments completed by January 16th.

Republicans, on the other hand, haven’t done a thing to move the process forward.

Meanwhile, the business of the committee is on hold, with no meetings or hearings scheduled.

The committee can’t provide Mueller with those transcripts, withheld by the GOP when they were in control until it convenes and votes on it — an impossibility without a completed roster of members.

Any longer delay will surely mean that the Republican failure to name congresspeople to the committee is

Seems to me that it's fluid depending on what's going on - and since the shutdown was blamed on Trump/repubs, January identification will reflect that. If the poll Bou posted was taken 5 months ago in Aug, would the result not be different then when more people identified as Republican than now when more people identify as Democrat (and yes, the Dem advantage is much greater)? January 2018 has repubs at a very low 22 and I can't remember what was going on then that was worse than the shutdown. I'm sure it'll swing, and I guess what's important is what the breakdown is come early November 2020.

The point is that You seem to think democrats and republicans should be evenly represented in polls. Everytime there is a poll that reflects negatively on your god, you jump straight to highlighting the political affiliations of the respondents. The polls should reflect the political affiliation of the populace attempting to be represented in the poll, which they generally do.

You jumping to the number of democrats vs republicans polled is a red herring and shows a lack of understanding of polling methodology.

Brian Kilmeade States the Obvious (https://splinternews.com/brian-kilmeade-states-the-obvious-1832119649)

Fox & Friends’ Brian Kilmeade admitted on Monday that President Donald

Trump might be too invested in what “people in the media” think about him,

and that the president’s unwavering attention to said people might be getting in the way of

his ability to be the president of the United States. :lol Trash has NO ABILITY to be President! :lol

Kilmeade rolled his eyes at Coulter having called Trump a “wimp” after losing his border wall standoff last week, going on to say,

“I just think the president cares way too much about people in the media.”9

“He’s president. He’s not a candidate,” Kilmeade said.

“He’s got to make some tough decisions, and he is not an absolute monarch.”

As Trump slides in new poll, he retreats deeper into Fox News fantasyland

most Americans believe President Trump is failing spectacularly by many different metrics.

Large majorities say he doesn’t have the temperament to be president;

lack confidence that he’ll make the right decisions for the country’s future; and

(this one will really sting) say he isn’t good at making deals.

new reporting indicates that Trump’s media and political allies are working overtime to erect a protective bubble around Trump,

one designed to prevent him from grasping the most basic political realities of the moment.

This effort has two goals:

To create an alternative narrative that portrays Trump’s cave in the shutdown fight as a sign that he holds a strengthened hand,

which in turn is designed to gird him to refuse real compromise in the next round of talks.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/01/28/trump-slides-new-poll-he-retreats-deeper-into-fox-news-fantasyland/?utm_term=.59a3cb806864

Fox lying to Trash, dictating to Trash all kinds of policies, is traitorous.

If Trash does something really horribly counterproductive, even destructive after Fox dictates to him,

Fox will be share the blame from serious people,

but not from the old, white, male Fox viewers and Trash's cult mob.

Trump Comes Out Strongly Against Intelligence

WASHINGTON —Using some of his harshest rhetoric in recent memory, President Donald J. Trump came out strongly against intelligence on Wednesday morning.

“I’ve listened to these people with so-called intelligence go on and on, and, quite frankly, it’s a waste of time,”

he said.

“I know a lot more than people with intelligence do.”

Trump added that he has stopped receiving intelligence briefings at the White House, arguing,

“I can do my job without any intelligence whatsoever.”

He said that he has chosen, instead, to

seek advice from his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and from his elder children, Ivanka, Eric, and Donald, Jr.

“You won’t find a trace of intelligence in anything they say,” he boasted.

At a briefing for the White House press corps, the President’s press secretary,

Sarah Huckabee Sanders,

denied that Trump’s war on intelligence was a new development.

“Intelligence has never played a role in Donald Trump’s life,” she said.

The 43% and the 28% aren't from comparable questions in that poll.

43% is Trump's approval rating (strongly approve + somewhat approve). Participants weren't asked to give an approval rating for Pelosi.

The more comparable result would be Trump 39% vs. Pelosi 28%, as those are both the combined "Very Positive" and "Somewhat Positive" results for participants asked to rate their opinion on each of them. That's still an advantage for Trump, so the only reason to mislead people on that Trump-felating graphic is because they know they can rely on suckers like you to share it out without caring about your own dignity.

“This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him . . . ‘I summon you by name and bestow on you a title of honor, though you do not acknowledge me’” (Isaiah 45:1, 4; see also 41:2-25; 42:6). Evincing His sovereignty over all nations, God says of Cyrus, “He is my shepherd and will accomplish all that I please” (Isaiah 44:28).

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
'The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

Mark 12:28-31

Trump exemplifies these commandments least of any President we've had in decades. To hold him up as an example of Christian leadership should be considered blasphemy by any true Christian. But Christianity has been more of a badge than a system of beliefs for a long time.

James 2:
14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

1. Speaking to CBN News in May, Donald Trump declared: "I will be the greatest representative of the Christians they've had in a long time."

Specifically, Trump was talking about the Christians being slaughtered in the Middle East, especially in Syria, and according to him, Christians around the globe do not have anybody representing them. Trump also claimed it was easier for Muslims to come to the U.S. than persecuted Christians.

2. Trump says he's Presbyterian and previously attended services with the Reformed Church of America denomination.

Trump told Human Events and other news outlets that he is "a believer." In 2011, he told CBN he attended First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica Queens, which is part of the Presbyterian U.S.A. denomination. Some past articles and interviews have listed Trump as a member of the Reformed Church of America, but more recently he has said he is Presbyterian. He says he goes to church on Sunday when he can and always on Christmas, Easter, and on special occasions.

3. After previously making statements favorable toward the right to abortion, Trump now claims to be pro-life.

While Trump has a long track record of making statements and supporting candidates who were pro-abortion, he credits a friend's experience with not wanting a baby and then adoring that baby as a big reason for his shift on abortion. In January, Trump explained his position on abortion, where he allowed for limited exceptions to terminate a pregnancy and talked about his traditional views on same-sex marriage, which he said at the moment "is a state's rights' issue." In the past, Trump has said he "took a lot of heat" for being opposed to same-sex marriage.

4. When asked by Bill O'Reilly if there was a "Muslim problem in the world," Trump answered "yes."

In a 2011 interview, Trump added, "absolutely, absolutely, I don't notice Swedish people knocking down the World Trade Center." Trump backed up his statement later saying, "We have to speak the truth, this country is so politically correct, and it's falling apart."

5. Donald Trump has called the Bible "The Book, it is the thing."

In fact, he collects Bibles because he claims so many people send him Bibles. Trump says he saves and stores them because, "There's no way I would do anything negative to a Bible."

6. Trump has praised evangelical leaders Tony Perkins and Ralph Reed, saying "they have great reputations."

In 2011 Trump declared, "I recently spoke to Ralph Reed and Tony Perkins and I was really impressed, they have great reputations and I have been hearing about them for years." He added that they were "smart people."

Nowhere in the Bible does it say we are required to go to Church, but Jesus preferred to teach on the Sabbath. This verse above also warns us about celebrating holidays which are mostly pagan by nature and conception. If you are interested in learning more about that I can recommend Stephen Dollins(youtube).

That verse is not about Church attendance. Also, it's spelled Galatians.

I gave you the verse where Paul tells people to go to church.

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay tithes of mint, dill, and cumin, but you have disregarded the weightier matters of the Law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former."
-Matthew 23:23

After the death of Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law, the New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends, that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system. The New Testament nowhere designates a percentage of income a person should set aside, but only says gifts should be “in keeping with income” (1 Corinthians 16:2). Some in the Christian church have taken the 10 percent figure from the Old Testament tithe and applied it as a “recommended minimum” for Christians in their giving.

The New Testament talks about the importance and benefits of giving. We are to give as we are able. Sometimes that means giving more than 10 percent; sometimes that may mean giving less. It all depends on the ability of the Christian and the needs of the body of Christ. Every Christian should diligently pray and seek God’s wisdom in the matter of participating in tithing and/or how much to give (James 1:5). Above all, all tithes and offerings should be given with pure motives and an attitude of worship to God and service to the body of Christ. “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
