Trump asked “why would anybody vote for the war powers” resolution, according to Cassidy, who later recounted his tense debate with the president.

“I stood and said, ‘Is that a rhetorical question or would you like to really know?’” Cassidy said.

Trump, infuriated over the Cassidy’s defiance in front of the entire Senate GOP conference, started yelling at the senator and Cassidy yelled back – matching the president’s tone and anger.

“He did not particularly care for my comments, raised his voice. I lost my temper, that’s not appropriate – it’s the Irish in me,” Cassidy said. “I matched his tone and his volume and it went back and forth.”

Trump Media to sell instant access to 'market-moving' social posts

Trump Media & Technology Group, which owns Truth Social, is launching a paid service to give Wall Street firms high-speed access to its most influential posts.

From 1 August, instant updates will be delivered from "the highest-ranking" accounts, it said. US President Donald Trump currently has the most followers on the platform.

The company behind the app hopes it will create a steady new source of money for the firm which is currently loss-making.

It is likely to be aimed at financial traders who want to see market-moving news fast. Trump’s social media posts often cause sudden swings in global markets, especially when he writes about trade and tariffs.

For firms, a delay of even seconds can be costly. Until now, banks and traders had to monitor the app manually. The new system will send posts directly to paying clients.

"Markets already move on Truth Social posts," said Kevin McGurn, the interim boss of Trump Media, adding that the service will create a steady profit.

Trump Media did not say how much it would charge for the service.

The new commercial data feed, named Truth API, promises to deliver posts to paying institutional clients in "milliseconds".

Capital One says it closed Trump Organization’s accounts after anti-money-laundering review

Capital One Financial hit back on Friday against a lawsuit over its ⁠decision to close the Trump ⁠Organization’s bank accounts ​years ago, stating that it did so after a review by anti-money-laundering experts.

The disclosure marks the first time a bank has formally tied money-laundering concerns to Donald Trump’s family business. Capital One is seeking to dismiss the case by casting doubt on claims of illegally debanking – or denying services on religious or political grounds – the Trump Organization.

The Trump Organization and ⁠Capital One did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Capital One has never accused the Trump Organization of money laundering. ​But Friday’s filing argues that “documents and Plaintiffs’ own #allegations make clear that Capital One closed #Plaintiffs’ accounts for anti-money laundering (‘AML’) reasons.

“The closures were the result of months of analysis and a careful review by #Capital One’s AML team in accordance with bank policies and regulatory guidance.”

Trump drops claim BBC harmed his businesses

Donald Trump has dropped his claim that the BBC caused financial harm to his businesses as part of his $10bn (£7.5bn) defamation battle with the broadcaster.

His lawyers said they no longer plan to pursue the claim that BBC’s Panorama documentary caused financial harm to the president’s brands and businesses. He will continue to pursue personal damages against the BBC.

Mr Trump filed a lawsuit in December after The Telegraph revealed that the broadcaster had misleadingly edited his Jan 6 address before the Capitol riots. He accused the broadcaster of defamation and demanded compensation for damages.

As part of the ongoing lawsuit, the US president has been fighting an order to hand over records on the financial performance of his companies at the BBC’s behest.

Enjoliqué Lett, a US magistrate judge, issued the order in July because Mr Trump had claimed that his “brand, properties and business” were damaged by the documentary, which aired in 2024.

The BBC has sought the financial records to investigate this claim. By handing over the records as part of discovery the information would eventually become public.

More than 10 firms pay up to $100,000 a month for fast access to Truth Social posts

More than 10 customers have signed up to Trump Media's controversial service that offers faster access to market-moving posts made on its Truth Social platform.

The service, Truth API, launched at the beginning of August and gives Wall Street traders first sight of posts from the social media site's most influential accounts.

Its earliest customers are mostly in high-frequency trading firms who are being charged between $60,000-$100,000 (£44,000-£74,000) a month for the service, interim chief executive officer Kevin McGurn said during an earnings call.
