RPT Russia halts Don-Azov channel shipping, affecting grain trade, after Ukraine attacks

MOSCOW, July 10 - Russia temporarily stopped shipping through the Don-Azov Channel, a navigable waterway linking the Don River with the Sea of Azov, three grain export industry sources said on Friday.

The move followed a Ukrainian attack on 13 Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov on Friday, including 10 tankers. Market analysts note that up to one-quarter of wheat exports from Russia, the world's largest exporter of the grain, pass through the Sea of Azov.

One of the sources said Russia's border guards notified shipping companies that all requests for passage through the Kerch Strait, which links the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, would not be accepted from 6:10 p.m. local time on Friday. The border guards report to the FSB security service. #The notification did not say when the halt would be lifted.

Russia's leading grain-producing regions, Rostov and Krasnodar, lie along the Sea of Azov. The country's second-largest port in the Black Sea region is located on the Kerch Strait.

You would have to go back several centuries to find a naval battle where one side lost more ships than russia did in the last week.

Ukraine Hits 2 Major Russian Oil Facilities, Including Petrochemical Giant 1,500 Km Away

Ukraine’s long-range drones reportedly reached one of Russia‘s largest petrochemical plants nearly 930 miles (1,500 km) from the border, and targeted a major oil refinery in southern Russia.

Ukrainian forces struck one of Russia’s largest petrochemical complexes overnight from Monday to Tuesday, with reports of a fire at Gazpromneftekhim Salavat LLC in Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan.

According to Ukrainian monitoring channels, which published videos of the incident, the attack triggered a fire at the facility. Russian independent outlet Astra, citing eyewitness footage showing multiple explosions and a large plume of black smoke, also reported that the plant had been hit.

Russian Nuclear Submarine Construction Plants are No Longer Protected by S-300/400 SAMs

Russia has withdrawn a significant portion of the air defense systems protecting the shipyards where nuclear submarines are built in Severodvinsk.

Barents Observer reported on this, citing an analysis of satellite imagery from 2024–2026.

At least two dozen S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems have been withdrawn from two key defensive positions in the north of the country due to a shortage of missiles and the need to strengthen air defense in other regions.

The weakening of defenses has affected the protection of Severodvinsk, home to the Sevmash and Zvezdochka shipyards. Sevmash is Russia’s sole nuclear submarine construction facility, while the neighboring Zvezdochka shipyard handles their repair and modernization.

And it keeps getting worse for them. none of their major refinies are undamaged.

we are going to see a famine there as the crops fail.
