PHI, come on you a-holes. Offer up Fultz + Saric and let’s get this thing going.
They're going to offer Fultz eventually. Otherwise it would have made no sense to hold him out of summer league.

Forbes seems to be a good guy and has worked hard to get better. You just have to be something special to be that short of a shooting guard and he isn't. Time to move on.

Forbes is nothing, but an afterthought.
Bertans should deserve a thought, or two.
I really like his aggressiveness off the bench, no matter what. I'd like to keep him.
Forbes? Ummm... no. Derrick White is already better, as an entire player.
White is better, but off the bench Forbes is still young, cheap and can shoot. 15 minutes a game with patty then traded is worth it imo. Obviously im in the minority on this

This could be fun from here on out. The Spurs are screwed as far as winning is concerned, but they can fuck with Kawhi as much as possible now. To get his $20 million, he has to show up, but this time without the usual Spurs cocoon. Let him face a San Antonio media day after day no longer docile and deferential, but aching for a feeding frenzy to rip him apart.
I don’t think his derp ass can handle the hostility from teammates, the media, and fans. He’ll have an autistic panic attack and ghost the team again. Then after 30 days, boom! His NBA career is effectively over, unless and until he and Unca Dennis come begging on hands and knees.
This is the path I’d take if I were Pop/RC

Spurs still have to sign Kyle Anderson. Hopefully they don't overpay. And with so many young Guards on the roster, I really hope they trade Patty as part of the Kawhi deal. Doubt it will happen, because Patty is Pop's guy and I don't think he wants to say bye to Tony, Manu, and Patty all in one offseason, for the sake of the team, offloading his deal and creating cap space for next Summer would easily be the right move.
No they don't!!

I hope you're right. I feel like Kawhi's value is plummeting faster by the minute. Hopefully, their doctor knows he's healthy and tells them to pull the trigger.

Nada happens until he shows up (or doesn't) for training camp. then put a few games under his belt.
I think Pop is ready to make him and his goobs uncomfortable.
Damn, so Enrique is officially gone. I will miss getting angry at his play. :cry

Pop knows the problem is Uncle and Shades The Agency.
Push this to the breaking point. Who folds first?

One thing to consider.
If they are not gonna trade him, Spurs will be in any case the only team able to offer him :
a)The supermax (221 millions) if he's back to his old level;
b) the max of 185 millions
All the other teams can offer just a max of 140 millions.
On that amount you have to consider too the less he's gonna be bothered by taxes in texas...(only Houston and Dallas have the same privilege, for the little I know).
He's putting in danger not only the 80 millios figure (that as of now is a case lost, but could regain it playing well) but also the 40 millions figure...if he does not play at a level comparable to his past standards...
it's on him, if he stays, to play and play well...also 'cause part of the money he is gonna be worth is going to his agent pockets...that atb this point better quickly change his mind about the behavior to suggest to his client.

Yes it's pretty annoying to hear all this bs speculation. Everyday is a possible trade rumor with the Lakers. Which is laughable since there is nothing new for them to offer. This is just the worst time of year when it comes to sports so there is not much to talk about and thus why ESPN is talking about Kawhi everyday.

The supermax can be officially offered july 15-October 16, a week before the season starts and the spurs wont even see him play a game to see how he looks so the supermax wont happen.

Trade Kawhi for Korkmaz straight up.
I don't think there's any way Wright didn't get the ok from the Spurs before telling his Dennis the Menace stories. Shit, they probably encouraged him to tell them. He's known those stories for a while so for him to tell them now, there has to be something larger at play. IMO it's either:
1. The Spurs are making a last ditch effort to get Kawhi to see the light when it comes to his group. Like Wright said, the Spurs understand why Uncle Dennis is important to Kawhi but they don't think he has his best interests in mind. It's a delicate situation, and it's probably impossible for the Spurs to be direct about it without Kawhi getting defensive about his family...but maybe, if he sees that not only do the Spurs feel that way but so does the whole nation now that stories are coming out, he snaps?
2. The Spurs have given up on the relationship. They've sat idle since the trade demand, letting the group of incompetent retards try to drag their name through the mud because they were still trying to get through to Kawhi. It makes sense that once they've given up on that they start punching back and standing up for what their proud program stands for.

Coaches Announced for USA Basketball Men’s National Team Minicamp
Date:
Jul 6, 2018
Selecting nine coaches, including seven from NBA teams and two NCAA Division I head coaches, USA Basketball today announced the coaching staff that will assist at the July 25-27 USA Basketball Men’s National Team minicamp in Las Vegas.
Named to assist USA National Team head coach and San Antonio Spurs mentor Gregg Popovich at the USA minicamp were: Golden State Warriors associate head coach Mike Brown; Miami Heat assistant coach Dan Craig ; Gonzaga University head coach Mark Few; Utah Jazz assistant Alex Jensen; Boston Celtics assistant Jay Larranaga; Dallas Mavericks assistant Jamahl Mosley; San Antonio Spurs assistant Ime Udoka; Portland Trail Blazers assistant David Vanterpool and Villanova University head coach Jay Wright.
The USA National Team minicamp will feature practices 12-2 p.m. (PDT) on July 26 and 27 at UNLV’s Mendenhall Center.
“As we prepare to conduct our first USA national team training camp in the 2017-20 quadrennium, we’re excited about having our available national team players participate in the July 26-27 minicamp and we have compiled a truly outstanding, high-energy coaching staff that will assist national team head coach Gregg Popovich,” said USA Basketball Men’s National Team managing Director Jerry Colangelo.
Thirty-five NBA players were named on April 6 to the 2018-20 USA National Team roster. The list included 11 gold medalists from the 2016 Rio Olympic team, seven 2012 London Olympics gold medalists, eight members of the gold medalist 2014 FIBA World Cup Team and five players who were members of the 2010 USA team that captured the FIBA World Cup title.
It is expected that the official, 12-member 2019 USA World Cup and 2020 U.S. Olympic teams, should the USA qualify to compete in China and Tokyo, will be comprised of players from the 2018-20 USA National Team.
Members of the 2018-20 USA National Team are: Harrison Barnes (Dallas Mavericks); Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards); Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns); Jimmy Butler (Minnesota Timberwolves); Mike Conley Jr. (Memphis Grizzlies); DeMarcus Cousins (Golden State Warriors); Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors); Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans); DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors); Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons); Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors); Paul George (Oklahoma City Thunder); Eric Gordon (Houston Rockets); Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors); Blake Griffin(Detroit Pistons); James Harden (Houston Rockets); Tobias Harris (Los Angeles Clippers); Gordon Hayward (Boston Celtics); Kyrie Irving (Boston Celtics); LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers); DeAndre Jordan (Dallas Mavericks); Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio Spurs); Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers); Kevin Love (Cleveland Cavaliers); Kyle Lowry (Toronto Raptors); CJ McCollum (Portland Trail Blazers); Khris Middleton (Milwaukee Bucks); Victor Oladipo (Indiana Pacers); Chris Paul (Houston Rockets); Isaiah Thomas (Los Angeles Lakers); Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors); Myles Turner (Indiana Pacers); Kemba Walker (Charlotte Hornets); John Wall (Washington Wizards); and Russell Westbrook(Oklahoma City Thunder).

I get it, but I actually think the Spurs would be worse off with him. Supermax that guy and you are held hostage to that contract and all you have is the hope that he will try and live up to it. If the Lakers give him the max in free agency, you never know what he will do when that media light shines on him and he starts feeling the pressure. To be honest, I mirror Wright, I hope he gets traded to LA so he sees what he had and lost in SA. And I hope we get Ingram and a few picks along the way.

I remember JJ Redick raving about this guy last summer. He said he was going to be a player real soon. I'd like to have him as part of the package. I think with his size he fits reall nice next to Walker.

(Memphis Grizzlies); DeMarcus Cousins (Golden State Warriors); Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors); Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans); DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors); Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons); Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors); Paul George (Oklahoma City Thunder); Eric Gordon (Houston Rockets); Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors); Blake Griffin(Detroit Pistons); James Harden (Houston Rockets); Tobias Harris (Los Angeles Clippers); Gordon Hayward (Boston Celtics); Kyrie Irving (Boston Celtics); LeBron James (Los AngelesLakers); DeAndre Jordan (Dallas Mavericks); Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio Spurs); Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers); Kevin Love (Cleveland Cavaliers); Kyle Lowry (Toronto Raptors); CJ McCollum (Portland Trail Blazers); Khris Middleton (Milwaukee Bucks); Victor Oladipo (Indiana Pacers); Chris Paul (Houston Rockets); Isaiah Thomas (Los Angeles Lakers); Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors); Myles Turner (Indiana Pacers); Kemba Walker (Charlotte Hornets); John Wall (Washington Wizards); and Russell Westbrook(Oklahoma City Thunder).

its an espn ramona source blech. i guess the spurs may have told the lakers, get more assets and this is them saying "we're trying" I don't think the spurs are eager to trade to LA and all the stories have been LA is down on his list.
LA has really caught shit for not getting leonard. First it was "we can wait" then they passed on boogie, Lebron said they don't need a trade, then "we can totally get lillard". They may just be spinning from one extreme to the other or or trying to set a price for kawhi and realize they went to far on it. lol

Bill Plaschke, of the LA Times, and very connected to the Lakers, said the other day he knows that most of the guys in the Lakers organization would like to move on from Lonzo and that he personally believed that the leak about his torn meniscus came from Lonzo's camp to block a potential trade, which was also at least one front office Laker's POV also.
Summary, Lakers will move Lonzo sooner rather than later. His dad made him toxic around the organization and he didn't ingratiate himself well when his dad took a shot at Walton and Lonzo just said he could play for anyone.

Nurkic was really solid in his first season with Portland after he got traded, which is which is probably why most fans remember him IMO..he regressed heavily last season and Portland was even shopping him IIRC..
It's tough to fit Cs like him in today's game, like you said .

Well maybe Charles Barkley...lol.
28 PTS, 20 REB, 8 AST, 6 BLK
2 assists and 4 blocks from a quadruple double against the Nuggets last year. He's 23.
He's a stud. He's young. He's only going to get better. He's signed for 4 years on a hella cheap deal. It's. A. Steal.
His True Shooting % was 52%(!!!!)
It's too difficult to find a place for these slow, unathletic Cs today..teams are looking for role player Cs that finish with explosiveness and can guard the perimeter, I just don't see a place for somebody like Nurkic, especially considering how poor his offense is..
Unless it's an offensive anchor like Jokic or Towns, I don't see the point IMO..

On another note, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is looking really good for the Clips in SL. Only 19 and has great feel for the game. High IQ player. Shoots it better than I thought too. This dude could be a stud PG imo.
If the Clippers ended up being a trade partner for Kawhi, I’d want this kid in the package (although I don’t see a trade with the Clips happening).

He shoots 30% from three, which on its own could be improved with some coaching. Get that up to 34% and it changes things for him. What’s scarier is how bad overall he is from the floor.
Can’t tell if it’s trying to force shots or just being awful at it. If he could shoot he’d be getting $20+
Ya'll think eveyone can be coached into being a decent shooter. Players who have been around that long don't usually just become shooters. If Brad Stevens couldn't get Smart to become a decent shooter, then I'm not banking on anyone doing it. He literally just played with the best coach in the NBA and you think he just needs to be coached up?
Ok.

Almost averaged a double double last year.
He's capable of big games already as noted above, and will only get better. He is streaky and is still crafting his interior game. That said, he's 23--that's an easy contract offer, imo.

Anyone got a feeling that mills is out? We are 6 mil over cap. Trade him and reup kyle anderson will get us under cap. Or perhaps we will take less in the Kawhi deal to get us under cap.

I don’t think he can be coached up. But if the Spurs see something that Chip can take a crack at fixing, then wouldn’t fault them.
30% from three in terms of eFG% would be the worst in the league as a team by 5%. That’s how bad he is now. LONG way to go.
What I was trying to say was if there’s a path to 34%, then he’s playable. He’s barely playable now in key moments. Another Andre Roberson.

Spurs aren’t going under the cap. The Beli deal doesn’t work if they’re under the cap. Maybe they could maneuver by keeping the lower Anderson hold on the books if the Beli deal isn’t officially signed yet (sequencing), and renouncing other guys + trading Mills imminently to get under the cap. But why?

Congratulations on the success. My tagline should indicate I'm Filipino as well. I've already deduced Apalisoc (or A. I wonder how some useless nobody from the Philippines actually has sources within the Spurs brass. What's weird about Jabari Young's and some sports journalists' response:
1. The Express News People (Mike Finger, Jeff McDonald, and Jabari) have all been quiet about Mike Wright's report. It's either this is something they've known to be true or to be false. It might be journalistic envy since they weren't chosen to leak these stories. Jabari has always touted "shopping local", which I assume pertains to consuming San Antonio Spurs news from local journalists such as himself. He teased about Spurs fans getting spoiled, only to be disappointed with news Leonard demands to be traded. He then backpedaled some rappers' albums are coming out. They were great albums but he had to go through a lot of backpedaling there. This guy has no solid sources, or if he does, he has been given bits and morsels and thinks he leaks them exclusively.
2. Regardless, they've done nothing to verify Wright's report. No refutations, no verification, no retweets, no comments, nothing. That is EXTREMELY weird. We've heard nothing about the All-Star game stories or the New York stories so far and they've done nothing to verify such, nor comment on these things. Journalistic envy or fake news? Shop local or believe Mike Wright? Either way, it's weird the tenured local newsmen (if sports journalists count as legitimate news writers) haven't heard or picked up on this.
3. It's eerie Jabari keeps saying it doesn't change a thing. It does. As exstatic said, it emphasizes the Spurs are done with Leonard's group and affects his trade value. At this point I'm not sure as to whom to believe since it's all smoke and mirrors and PR battles. It's weird someone like Jabari takes the player's side. He must know something we don't or he loves Kawhi's schlong constantly prodding his prostate.
4. Jabari keeps stressing he's willing to talk to Leonard during interviews and/or media day, but has no inclination to interview the Spurs' front office. Is it difficult to call the Spurs organization to confirm? Is it so difficult to piece things together? Most replies to his tweet have already noticed his bias for airing Kawhi's side, not to mention his predilection for saying the Spurs do not know how to handle modern stars. The Spurs may be wrong on that regard too, but how hard is it to say you want out? Apparently not so, especially if you don't have pressing reasons other than a botched shoe deal and the hopes of getting more money.
5. Also weird Wojnarowski, Shelburne, and/or Marc Stein don't have anything to add to Wright's report. Usually sports writers add new spins to generate more buzz and retweets, and that's usually practice among sports journalists. I assume they know it's hokum or journalistic envy because the Spurs' FO didn't choose them to become mouthpieces. I think by now we can safely assume some of these journalists act as PR specialists for players as well and there's a faction that keeps wanting to spur a trade (whom I believe Impact Sports leaks their stories to) and a smaller group whom the Spurs front office prefers.
Jabari and friends if you're reading this I hope an investigative report follows. Something more detailed and professional, perhaps? Something more in-depth and balanced, not blatantly biased. Would it change a thing? No, but it'll help your journalistic credentials more than licking Kawhi's butthole for an interview, since journalists have ethical standards that mandate airing sides of both parties and showing all possible angles. Ben Detrick came out with an amazing piece on Bryan Colangelo and I'm sure the Express News writers can do something commensurate. Or maybe not, I guess some journalists just aren't that great.
EDIT: Seen a lot of posts and replies saying Young wants to be Kawhi’s Windhorst.
1. Being a Windhorst doesn’t sound like a good thing
2. Not surprised if Jabari has an account or three here
3. He’s probably just trying to grind and make money, which makes him a perfect fit for Leonard’s posse

It's most likely true. Jabari is Uncle Dennis' mouthpiece and he should have denied it already if it were fake. The non-response pretty much confirms it. IRC, Chris Carter and Jalen Rose said they knew about these stories too. Michael C. Wright has won of the offseason for me tbh.

We all think Boston and Philly are trying to get Leonard for five cents on the dollar, and they are, and it upsets us, but actually I also don’t think they’re all that interested in even a moderately reasonable price, not only because of the cost and picks but also because of their timeline. I doubt they think that they can beat GS, even with Leonard in the next couple of years. They need a couple more years for their players to develop and GS to recede a bit to truly be championship material. By that time they’ll have young players resigned on more expensive contracts and Leonard on a high cost contract will only complicate matters. They’d rather feed their systems with some low cost good draft picks at that point. I think Leonard’s value will have to come from trading him to some other team, if possible.

The biggest thing is Kawhi's Bush league group and their in insistence of playing in LA plus injury concerns. Kawhi is just entering his prime. Philly and Boston want to win now. Philly is in best position since Simmons, Leonard, and Embiid appear to fit perfectly well.

Why am I going to give up assets to acquire your client when he didn't honor his contract in SA? Further, why am I going to commit to give your client a multi-year, nine figure extension when he decided he didn't want to honor the remaining 2 to 3 years on his contract in SA? These are not small questions. What's the answer? 'Because your franchise is not like the Spurs'? Virtual GMs gloss over these kinds of reservations, but these are huge. And this is before evaluating his health and allowing that he will need some amount of game time next season (assuming he actually plays :lol ) to get back to the top of his game.
Other teams are interested, of course, because of Leonard's talent and age with another 3 to 4 prime years left. But this is why the Spurs have gotten shit offers so far.

Granted this is true given Pop’s always been a prick to the media and the latter have a hard time predicting what the Spurs do, the response is to retaliate by picking a side? Judging by their replies it’s either they’ve known of it (see Jabari’s “does it change a thing???” Tweet) or they just got the rug pulled from underneath them by having other reporters leak things they’re supposed to be knowing given their proximity to the Spurs. If this is borne out of their frustration with the front office, it’s crazy. It’s never an excuse to cover up news, which they most likely didn’t know. Seems like SAEN and other local beat writers are stunned or muted, it’s so weird. It’s comical how Jabari downplays he didn’t know it by saying it doesn’t matter :lol writing for sports is easy but apparently he isn’t good at it

This guy has no solid sources, or if he does, he has been given bits and morsels sparingly and thinks he leaks them exclusively.
Either way, it's weird local newsmen (if sports journalists count as legitimate news writers) haven't heard or picked up on this.
Jabari wants to be to Kawhi what Windhorst is to LeBron.
If Kawhi gets traded I guarantee you Jabari follows suit whether it’s LA or Philly (where Jabari is from)
And Jeff McDonald is a total joke and has been for years.

I've heard of local sports reporters who can't stand the Spurs because they view the front office and organization as arrogant. I can't really share a source so if you'd like then take it with a grain of salt, but it is something I've been told and something I believe even though I don't think it's necessarily a fair sentiment. I want to say I heard this while Kawhi was injured last year but before it really became some kind of drama.
I can certainly vouch for this. Tom James is very arrogant

Aside from him, Teodosic, and Harris, no one adds significant value to package together a commensurate offer for Leonard. Would have been a great trade destination but they're severely limited.
Future number one picks and sign and trade of Harrell would have to be added.

That reasoning is right in a vacuum and would still stand in a league where players wouldn't be less ans less committed and stars would hesitate to team up to form super teams.
Spend 3 more years trying to grow your team only to see another one get 2 top 5 players in the same offseason to team up with their own one. Imagine if Fakers could have gotten Lebron, PG13 and Kawhi this offseason. From lottery team to favorite in one summer.
(Supposedly) top 3 players like Kawhi don't fall out off trees every season and windows to win titles are rare. You may not want not only lose an opportunity to get a title when you can and a direct opponent get that player. Do Boston want to let Philly get Kawhi and vice and versa ?
You don't know how your young players are gonna really develop. Promising young players having a nice first couple of seasons before disappointing are dime a dozen. Injuries, ego, motivation...lot of things can happen.
There are obviously red flags regarding Kawhitter's current status but in a vacuum comparing to those young players, you know what you got at 100%. A proven top 3 two way player in his prime with championship' experience that can help you win now.
If not for all the uncertainty around Kawhi's health, head and his group, trading for him would be a no brainer.

Interesting take. The holdup to the Philly trade seems to be the Covington contract, which needs to be dumped on another team like the Kings. The Spurs will still have a gaping hole at SF.
