SEN. RAND PAUL: The CDC says you're not supposed to get vaccinated if you've been infected within three months. So what are we going to do? Tell people that can't fly for three months, even according to the CDC?…So it makes no sense. It's complete collectivism, and all of these people, are the same people who hooted and hollered and said ‘Trump is leading us to authoritarianism.’ What could be more authoritarian than a no-fly list for people who disagree with you?

I do.
It makes it easier on me and my family if people would comply.
But they have not so here we are. With giant pockets on non vaccinated individuals getting infected easier, getting the virus at a younger age, and getting much sicker than the same age groups with the first virus.

Texas hospitals hit by staffing crisis as burnout depletes workforce and COVID-19 surges
The lack of available nurses has driven up salaries and created a heated, competitive job market as thousands of positions remain open throughout Texas.
Texas nurse Jenna Price gets half a dozen solicitations a day from hospitals and staffing agencies
that want to pay her four times her current salary to leave her job at a suburban Central Texas emergency room and
take a temporary assignment in another hospital that needs nurses.
“The money is ridiculous,” Price said.
There are 23,000 more unfilled jobs in Texas for registered nurses than there are nurses seeking to fill them
“There's no pipeline of staff that we see ready to just hop in and start helping,”
Burnout (https://www.texastribune.org/2020/12/11/texas-health-care-workers-coronavirus/) is causing nurses of all specialties to leave the profession in droves — or to accept better paying nursing jobs in an increasingly competitive market,
“These health care heroes have been at this for 18 and 19 months.
Many of them are just leaving the workforce, saying ‘I can’t do it anymore.’”
“We've had a significant number of people, [after] the first two waves, who just stepped away from the profession,” Kroll said.
“It’s too stressful. It was really life and death.”

Vaccine skeptics and anti-maskers are sucking down horse paste promoted by Trump's 'alien DNA' doctor
One of the groups behind the ivermectin craze is America's Frontline Doctors (https://www.rawstory.com/2020/07/dont-fall-for-the-americas-frontline-doctors-video-hydroxychloroquine-is-not-a-19-cure/), the Trump-promoted Texas group :lol

and
"alien DNA" specialist (https://www.rawstory.com/dr-stella-immanuel-lawsuit/) Dr. Stella Immanuel. :lol
"Devotees have besieged pharmacists with prescriptions from shady online prescribers, forcing pharmacies to crack down and treat the antiparasitic drugs like opioids,"
enthusiasts have taken to raiding rural tractor supply stores in search of ivermectin horse paste (packed with 'apple flavor!') and
weighed the benefits of taking ivermectin 'sheep drench' and a noromectin 'injection for swine and cattle.'"
FDA, meanwhile, has cautioned people against taking drugs intended for large animals because they are highly concentrated.
"The irony is, in a severe ivermectin overdose patients will end up needing to be intubated to protect their airway, meanwhile,
a lot of them are taking the ivermectin to allegedly treat their COVID… to avoid ultimately being intubated and placed on a ventilator,"

Most hospitals have been caring for the voluntary alcoholics, drug addicts and terrible eaters for centuries.
But they stopped caring when treating the terrible vaxine hesitant in months :lmao
What a nice fairy tale :lol
I dont know about the not caring stuff.
But overwhelmed and burned out...
Yeah caring for alcoholics and cancer patients is exactly like caring for people with an incredibly transmissible virus, exactly the same. All of the sudden alcoholics and cancer patients are just there in droves for no apparent reason and pass on the alcoholism and cancer to health care workers. Sure thing...
And there are people who dont care in almost any large profession. But thats different than burned out and overwhelmed in a system that is caring for all forms of nasty stuff trying to get people well. Or save their lives. You go with your "just another day in the office" hater.

Madison Cawthorn Shows Up at a Local School Hearing and Berates Board Members for Passing a Mask Mandate
“You have muzzled (parents’) voices just like you have muzzled our children,” Cawthorn said.
“You passed this mask mandate without input from those who would hold you accountable because you knew it was wrong.
You knew it would never withstand the scrutiny of the public.
I’ve witnessed swampy backdoor tactics from corrupt bureaucrats in Washington D.C.,
but what you have done here today puts that all to shame.”
“You have sacrificed the social, emotional, and psychological development of our children on the altar of wokeness,”
Buncombe County has a rolling average of 25 Covid cases per 100,000 people — making it a red zone for Covid transmission
as defined by the CDC.
Nonetheless, Cawthorn argued that
a mask mandate “[flies] in the face of scientific reasoning” and would do more harm than good.
“Forcing our children to wear masks is nothing short of psychological child abuse,” Cawthorn said. “Period.”

That is absolutely untrue with the DELTA strain.
So you wish to be called names again heater?
It's not yet well understood if the delta variant is more dangerous for young children, or if kids are more susceptible to this strain compared to others who are unvaccinated, but doctors have reported a steady increase of Covid cases in children (https://health.clevelandclinic.org/delta-variant-and-children/) and medical experts have warned about the ongoing dangers of the virus (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/delta-variant-spreads-medical-experts-warn-risk-young-children-n1274126).

Of course there is.
Its basically same one as the tests for the two other widely spread variants that were most prevalent and the beginning and the middle of this crap. The virus has not changed that much genetically or in its basic proteins. It is still a coronavirus, its still extremely closely related to all the isolated strains. The changes in its mRNA sequence are minor but enough to follow the changes around the world. And apparently the same proteins that were recognized are still recognized by most tests. But all the testing still has some problems like before. And there are still different ways to test for the presence of the virus.

Show me proof there's testing for specifically the variants. Not a test that covers everything because those have been around from the get go and they're still the same old tests. I want a test specifically calling out the variants or else it's all lip service in my opinion. It is the same test.
Regarding variants, I believe they use math to calculate prevalence of which variant. They probably sample a small percentage of all the tests they take. Maybe even 1% and use statistics to calculate the prevalence nationwide.

This is because you still dont have a clue as to the biology of the coronaviruses. These tests will pick up all the variants. In order to determine exactly what variants we have in a population we take many samples and sequence the RNA. The RNA sequencing shows us that the delta variant is 99% of the current cases. The delta has its own specific sequence that DOES NOT vary in the basic areas of the proteins the tests now test for nor the mRNA sequences test for.
Again, you march headlong into stuff you have no understanding of and sink in the mud.

there is a specific test, they run genomic sequencing tests to determine variants. they dont do this for every person's case because it would be expensive and time consuming. but they run them for some sample amounts to get a figure out how widespread it is. right now from those tests its known that delta accounts for something like 80% of cases in the US

The Numbers Start to Clarify
. The Israeli health ministry has been placing vaccine efficacy somewhere near 40% against infection – vastly lower than the original clinical trials and much lower than other current measurements.
A UK study in that went through May and was published in The New England Journal of Medicine on July 21st placed efficacy against the Delta variant at 88% (https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2108891), only slightly less than against the Alpha variant.
But yesterday another UK study was released (https://spiral.imperial.ac.uk/bitstream/10044/1/90800/2/react1_r13_final_preprint_final.pdf) by the Imperial College London which showed substantially reduced efficacy against infection –
though apparently not hospitalization and disease.
This study puts vaccine efficacy against all infection at 49% and
against symptomatic infection at 59%.
At the same time though
efficacy against hospitalization and disease still seems to remain robust, at close to the same levels as the original clinical trials.
That’s obviously great news if you’re main interest is not dying from COVID.
efficacy against infection seems to be decoupling from efficacy against hospitalization and death.
For now it simply seems more clear that efficacy against mild infections is significantly reduced against the Delta variant.

Its an honor system but it really helps.
I also know there are some private schools my friends have kids in that keep a running board and they stayed open and full all of last year. It can be done on a small scale at work and schools by organizations willing. It wont be perfect, but it can clearly work.
Yeah thats definitely elementary, maybe into early middle school. I do not know which district that is but its not suprising as lice are very common in kids and that has been a long established practice. And it does embarrass parents. Its sort of associated with not washing hair and being dirty but those darn lice can hop really easily apparently from student to student. I remember being "searched" for lice in elementary school. I really liked it. The nurse took sort of chop stick looking sticks and moves over your scalp moving hair, it felt really good, i almost fell asleep.

There is absolutely no comparison in the degree of lying and trying to become president for your self gratification.
Trump has basically been quoted directly on this and not denying it in a new book. He said he just wanted the attention and that misinformation was the most beautiful thing in politics and he loved using it. He has accepted that as of right now. We will see if he changes his mind again and says he never said this because there are tapes where he says exactly this. I will wait for the book as it was trying to explain Trump and this whole lying phenomena that became so prominent. Ill read it for sure.

Yes in certain locals like private schools and businesses it has already worked once.
It takes vaccination and tracing on a truthful and consistent level. It is much easier if people are held DIRECTLY accountable. IN small organizations this is absolutely doable. We can keep them at work and going to school without having to stay home or going in the hospital.
Some smaller private schools and businesses are going with masking again, contact tracing and Mandatory vaccinations. So we will see. I say it will work.

Ever notice when talk about the rate of hospitalization and death for vaccinated people, they use the entire population of vaccinated people as the denominator?
When did we start doing that?
The denominator should be the number of infected vaccinated people.

I think the idea is that vaccinated people, even if infected, are at a lower risk. Breakthrough cases are generally rare.
We still have ~half the country unvaccinated, probably saving the tests for those people.

It has been estimated that, assuming in-person schooling goes on as planned, 40%-70% of school kids will be infected by SARS-CoV-2 during the next three months. Even if the incidence of disease and hospitalization are low, given the probable large number of cases, the absolute numbers of each will be large.
Which I guess is fine and well so long as someone else's kid ends up in the hospital or an early grave.

People who had the initial covid virus may not be immune to the delta variant as they are different. Much like the seasonal flu change or due there being more varieties, one can get sick with flu more than once.
It would be foolish not to get the free vaccine and avoid any of the expenses (great or small) or physical harm associated with the delta variant.

My take has been consistent, whereas yours blows with the wind or gets tailored to the narrative du jour.

Good. Agreed. Joe killing of americans is comparable to Trumps murders. Both are legendary butchers

Meh, the vast majority of people dying have chosen their adventure. Biden tried to pay them to save themselves. What else is there to do?

Meh, the vast majority of people dying have chosen their adventure. Biden tried to pay them to save themselves. What else is there to do?Vaccination alone won't help now. The same suite of non-medical inventions that were used worldwide last year to mitigate infection are still available in principle to prevent population level impacts.
The Biden Administration is taking a flyer on all of them and has been behind the back to school push. I see that as an abdication of public health responsibilities and just plain bad decisionmaking in service of political expediency-- little different from Trump, tbh.

People simply will not change their behavior again unless they see personal consequences. This got politicized and will never be unpoliticized, so it's going to be a horribly slow slog waiting for private companies mandating vaccinations and finally insurance companies' closing their purses for significant gains to be made.

Telling vaccinated people to throw away their masks a couple months back was monumentally short-sighted. So is rushing kids back to school.
The "return to normality" narrative is objectively bad, imho. It creates expectations that can't be satisfied while COVID is spreading uncontrolled.
