Chump just posted the smoking gun. And what did Dear Leader do a couple days after that memo? Tweeted: "Don't worry about the virus! Stock market looking good!"
How anyone can defend or excuse that imbecile right now is beyond me. Oh, forgot, he's a cult leader. Someone might reply, "W-W-W-Well the Dems did this and that!!!!!!" Cool. Fire their asses too. Unlike those in the 45 Cult, I have no attachment to any slimebag politician. I've said before, the American people need to wake up and understand they are the fuckin' board of directors of this country, and that "leaders" are expendable instruments, not figures to be quasi-worshipped.

Fine, once you bring "their asses too" onto the scaffolding us cultists will bring "cult leader" and march his ass up the 13 steps. But, daddy, not one moment before. That trap door is getting pulled with everybody on it. No one is getting left behind to tell a tale.

No it isn't. South Korea and Taiwan acted like adults and ramped up testing and did contract tracing and have had minimal deaths because of that without having to shut their nations down. Trump is responsible for both the deaths and the economy because he spent two months doing nothing and telling his cult SARSCov2 wasn't going to be a problem here. Trump owns both the deaths and the depression we're now in.

On July 9th, another pneumonia of unknown cause was reported in Alexandria, VA and all lung images showed the ‘ground glass’ shadow typical of Covid-19. Coincidentally, the CDC chose that date to withdraw the only American epidemiologist embedded with Beijing’s CCDC. The following week a pneumonia epidemic was reported at a nursing home in Burke, VA and the Virginia State Health Bureau banned collective activities and began screening residents in assisted care facilities and requiring enhanced hygiene. In early August the CDC expanded its pneumonia patient detection system and, in an unprecedented civilian intervention in military affairs, shut down the Army’s main military biowarfare lab (and Superfund site), Fort Detrick, MD where, a senior scientist said, the atmosphere was one of “fear and mistrust.”

South Korea had their first detected case the same day the US did.
It's kind of mind blowing that they kept their (confirmed) case count down to 10,500 cases and have suffered only 225 deaths. The respective US numbers today are 614,000 and 26,000.

No, this is more of a combined effort by the governors to say to Trump no, you dont have power over the states. He cannot open individual state's businesses by some sort of decree.
The governors call the shots, not Trump.

New hot spot: South Dakota
South Dakota’s coronavirus cases have begun to soar after its governor steadfastly refused to mandate a quarantine.
The number of confirmed cases in the state has risen from 129 to 988 since April 1 — when Gov. Kristi Noem criticized the “draconian measures” of social distancing to stop the spread of the virus in her state.https://nypost.com/2020/04/14/coronavirus-cases-skyrocket-in-south-dakota/amp/

Going for herd immunity isn't wise until we have a proven and effective anti-viral treatment. As far as we know right now, this thing hits harder than the flu. During the 2018-19 flu season, there were 18K hospitalizations due to flu in NY over a 6 month period. New York already had 42K Covid-19 hospitalizations. This is where someone might bring up the from/with argument, and that the stats are skewed because of this. But this is dumb. Hypertension, diabetes, COPD, etc are livable conditions that rarely turn into an acute life threatening situation just like that. Covid is exacerbating those conditions to life threatening. Also, the from/with distinction is applied to the flu. It also turns those illness into severe situations that require hospitalization.
It would also take a decade to build up herd immunity in a place like the US, with its spread out population (this is also why I never believed the 2.2 million dead scenarios in a year or whatever. This virus moves fast, but you have to constantly be meeting and infecting new people. Most people basically stay in their social and family circles much of the time) The marginal herd immunity we have for the flu happened over decades. Best COA is to minimize deaths until we have a proven anti-viral and vaccine.
You and I are going go with herd immunity in California.

Spreads easily and silently. Damages multiple organ. Kills and leaves long term damage. Diagnostic tests for infection have many false negatives. Patient diagnostic tests go from positive to negative to positive. Antibody tests for immunity fail to detect antibodies in nearly 10% of patients when present and give false positives. Uncertain if antibodies equate to immunity or if so if immunity persist. This is one miserable virus.

Trump supporters are willing to die to reopen economy:
‘When it’s my time to go, God’s going to call me home’
https://www.rawstory.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/shutterstock_493023076.jpg
Trump supporters are sparking a “protest movement” against social distancing restrictions aimed at forcing governors to reopen their economies at a time when tens of thousands of Americans have died from the virus in the span of just one month.
Ashley Smith, who founded an anti-social distancing group called “ReopenNC,” said that she wasn’t worried about dying as long as it means the economy can reopen.

Trump PR Stunt Falls Flat, as White House Video Exposes His Failure to Prepare for Pandemic
The video, which was riddled with errors and deceptively edited, was apparently intended to rebut a damning report (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/11/us/politics/coronavirus-trump-response.html) on the front page of Sunday’s New York Times that
detailed how slow Trump had been to take the threat posed by the virus seriously.
While Trump was obviously pleased by the production — :lol
he pointed to the screen with a look of smug triumph at several points — :lol
he seemed unaware :lol :lol
as it was unspooling in the White House briefing room that it contained a fatal flaw that helped reinforce the central argument of The Times report.
The centerpiece of the video was a timeline of actions by Trump and his administration,
highlighting the partial ban on travel from China he ordered on January 31, and his declaration of a national emergency on March 13.
there was a huge gap in the timeline: :lol
It mentioned absolutely no action by him in February and there was, as the Times had noted,
a period of “six long weeks” after the travel restrictions
until he “finally took aggressive action to confront the danger the nation was facing.”
the month Trump held mass campaign rallies and described criticism of his handling of the virus from Democrats as “their new hoax” — was
February 6: “CDC Ships First Testing Kits.”
The fact that
those test kits were defective, a massive failure at a critical moment,
seems like an odd thing to brag about.

Utah mother selling social distancing penis face masks raises $56K for non-profit, so far
When people tell Utah mother Mindy Vincent that her face mask has penises on it, she:
Kindly [lets] them know this is how I determine they are too close, kindly back the f*** up.
That's what Vincent said in a Facebook post (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10216582965033244&set=a.1450785476285&type=3&theater) featuring a selfie with her mask. It quickly went viral with more than 413,000 shares.

It's her creative way to keep people at a safe distance -- far enough away to not notice the penises on her face mask.
Folks from across the country were reaching out to Vincent to see how they can get their own penis mask.

We have about 2.5k deaths right now. Assuming a slow 4 day doubling time for deaths (I think it'll be faster), in ~3 weeks we hit 150k dead. Thats why Fauci's numbers seem appropriate.

Great! :tu so the mortality rate is even lower then, considering there's so many false negatives walking around.
Also :lmao @ "long term damage". How can anybody verify long term damage for a virus that just now popped up on our radar? Somebody needs to take a step or two away from the ledge tbh imho

I don't think these people were wrong. I think regardless of the actual source, there was a danger in Wuhan.
Two years before the novel coronavirus pandemic upended the world, U.S. Embassy officials visited a Chinese research facility in the city of Wuhan several times and sent two official warnings back to Washington about inadequate safety at the lab, which was conducting risky studies on coronaviruses from bats.

I wouldn't define that as a herd immunity strategy. Herd immunity is basically "YOLO," letting business go on as usual and only maybe isolating the most vulnerable. I'd say we're going for step-by-step cautious reopening. And we'll probably take a cue from Singapore, and alternate between open/closed as the new cast count dictates.

something to watch closely tbqh
They had their highest death peak today at 170 up from 114. Close to a 50 percent increase. Adjusted for pop, that's like the US having 5610 deaths today. And Sweden isn't that population dense. That said, if the strategy works for them and their society, that's their choice, and it might work here in small communities who could potentially handle the surge. But trying to apply the Swedish model to big cities would be insane.
Oh, and Sweden is already Italy. Italy's highest daily death count was 919. Sweden, adjusted to Italy's population (6.6 x 170), just peaked at 1122.

And we'll probably take a cue from Singapore, and alternate between open/closed as the new cast count dictates.Yeah, that ain't a Swedish strategy there.

I don’t consider it YOLO. I was thinking more of a managed herd immunity strategy. All of the following with social distancing in place and stressing hand washing/sanitizing/don’t touch face/stay home when feeling sick. All parks/hiking/golf courses/sports field open. Businesses reopened where social distancing both possible for employees and customers. Businesses that can’t will receive more gov relief. Strongly recommend elderly/at risk shelter in place further. Wash your hand wash your hands wash your hands wash your fucking hands.
With that I think we’d avoid overwhelming hospitals and get back to a somewhat normal way of life.

Herd immunity to me is intentionally letting people get sick via zero or very lax measures that don't emphasize the measures you describe. The measures you describe will no doubt slow down transmission to the point where it'd be impossible to infect over 20 million people in a short time frame. And that's a good thing, obviously. A vaccine will come. Anti-virals will come. So yeah, agree with the measured approach you laid out until we have those treatments. I just hope we have enough people to "buy in" and willing to deal with the short term discomfort. Already seeing blowback. Ex.

Apparently they do, as your videos show. Americans are used to doing whatever they want, whenever they want, and can't handle that the fat, happy, and gluttonous life they were accustomed to has to be put on hold for a few months, requiring them to sit their fat asses at home. The horror!
EVERY generation prior to Gen X was asked to sacrifice some "comfort" (or Freedumbs, as I like to call them in this context) in service of national health and security. Nothing about this situation is unprecedented in American history, yet the "Don't Tread on Me" crowd are acting like we're descending into an Orwellian nightmare.

Agree. We seem to doing well. I just hope the restless few don't fuck it up. This virus can go apeshit just with a couple of super-spreaders.
On the contrary, I do understand the attitude of not wanting to live in fear. It's no way to live long-term. But for the short term, we have to live with cautious fear until we get more information about this virus (we can only speculate about its true mortality rate, how it transmits, the mild-to-severe ratio, etc). Maybe it is "just the flu." But we don't know that right now. In matters of life-and-death, guesswork doesn't cut it.

I don’t think the restless few could even fuck it up for us at this point. We are further along than most.
I believe once we get mass antibody testing we’ll find out millions of us had already had it and didn’t know.

True. When it’s all said and done it will be interesting to compare our reaction and it’s impact on society as a whole based on the guesswork of the IHME model we’ve so heavily relied on. I think we’ll look back on this and realize a much more measured approach could have been taken state by state, county by county.
“ COVID-19 originated in a Wuhan laboratory not as a bioweapon, but as part of China's effort to demonstrate that its efforts to identify and combat viruses are equal to or greater than the capabilities of the United States, multiple sources who have been briefed on the details of early actions by China's government and seen relevant materials tell Fox News.
This may be the "costliest government coverup of all time," one of the sources said.
The sources believe the initial transmission of the virus was bat-to-human, and that "patient zero" worked at the laboratory, then went into the population in Wuhan.”
“In the six days after top Chinese officials secretly determined they likely were facing a pandemic from a new coronavirus, the city of Wuhan at the epicenter of the disease hosted a mass banquet for tens of thousands of people; millions began traveling through for Lunar New Year celebrations.”

I can't agree with this logic entirely because I think when projecting the impact of what some event might have on a death toll, it's better safe than sorry, so assuming the upper bound/worse case scenario isn't a bad thing. The worst thing you could do is underestimate and cost an untold amount of deaths that could have been prevented.
Also, we're only a month into "lockdown," some states and regions are only a couple of weeks in. There's still time to apply a region specific measured approach. If anything, this crisis reveals a crack in our economic foundation more than anything. That we can't shutdown for even a month in the face of some crisis without potential economic meltdown. I'm not necessarily advocating for total socialism or anything like that, but I think after this, we need to reevaluate where the money goes. I'll harp on defense spending again. Trillions upon trillions essentially wasted to keep some 600 bases operating around the world, funding outdated conventional weapon projects, and protecting against some form of boogeyman.
The odds of another pandemic buckling us like this are greater than the proverbial goat farming Muslim doing us mass harm. As I've said before, would've been nice to have a 10 trillion dollar "rainy day fund" right about now, that could float small businesses and unemployed Americans throughout the crisis. Instead, we'd rather build F35s and "liberate" Irag.

Other side of the shutdown coin
Since the coronavirus shutdown began, nearly 17 million Americans have lost their jobs. That’s one-tenth of the nation’s workforce. It’s a public-health disaster. If the shutdown drags on, as many public-health experts recommend it should, it is almost certain to kill more Americans than the virus.
The academics and public-health officials who have concocted models of the virus’s spread are telling us that we have to continue the shutdown to save thousands of lives. It’s too bad none of their models considers the deaths that will be caused by unemployment.
Before the virus hit, America’s unemployment rate was 3.5 percent, the lowest in 50 years. Now Goldman Sachs predicts unemployment could spike to 15 percent by midyear. A St. Louis Federal Reserve economist grimly predicts 32 percent unemployment — worse than during the Great Depression.
Job losses cause extreme suffering. Every 1 percent hike in the unemployment rate will likely produce a 3.3 percent increase in drug-overdose deaths and a 0.99 percent increase in suicides, according to data from the National Bureau of Economic Research and the medical journal Lancet.
These are facts based on past experience, not models. If unemployment hits 32 percent, some 77,000 Americans are likely to die from suicide and drug overdoses as a result of layoffs. Deaths of despair.
Then add the predictable deaths from alcohol abuse caused by #unemployment. Health economist Michael French from the University of Miami found a “significant association between job loss” and binge drinking and alcoholism.
The impact of layoffs goes #beyond suicide, drug overdosing and drinking, however. Overall, the death rate for an unemployed person is 63 percent higher than for someone with a job, according to findings in the journal Social Science & Medicine.
Now do the math: Layoff-related deaths could far outnumber the 60,400 coronavirus deaths predicted by University of Washington researchers. This comparison isn’t meant to understate the horror of the coronavirus for those who get it and their families.
But heavy-handed state edicts to close all “nonessential businesses” need to be reassessed in light of the predictable harm to the lives, livelihoods and health of the uninfected.
The shutdown was originally explained as a way to “flatten the curve,” allowing time to expand health-care capacity, so lives wouldn’t be needlessly lost in overwhelmed hospitals.
When the shutdown is lifted, cases will increase. Some epidemiologists predict the virus could return in a second wave this fall. But as President Trump reported Friday, hospitals are ready now, supplied with ventilators, caregivers and beds. Some cities are now oversupplied. Even New York state, with half the cases in the nation, reports enough beds. Temporary bed capacity provided by the military is empty (though some local hospitals have complained of red tape preventing patients from being sent there).
The president’s social-distancing guidelines expire April 30, suggesting the possibility of restarting parts of the economy shortly thereafter.
To make reopening possible, schools should resume in most places, so working parents can #return to jobs. Even in the Empire State, only a single child under the age of 10 has died. That’s tragic, but very unusual. Some 84 percent of fatalities in New York are people over 60. We have a duty to preserve human life, but we’re called to allocate our efforts reasonably, show concern for all lives.
On Monday, governors in several states heavily hit by the coronavirus announced they would work together regionally on plans to phase out the shutdown. On Tuesday, Trump announced a council assembled to formulate plans for reopening the nation for business.
It won’t be done by a flick of the switch. Getting back to business will hinge on testing, accommodations employers make for workers’ safety and the willingness of consumers to patronize restaurants, gyms and other businesses again.
The president’s public-health advisers want the virus to“determine the timetable.” But Trump should also take into account the concerns of the silent majority suffering from the shutdown. It’s more than just their jobs on the line. Their lives are, too.

I don't believe the shutdown will last like this over 18 months or until the vaccine is discovered. I expect a region specific approach and the Singapore strategy of "on/off" as new cases dictate. But I think the "panic" in the run up was justified based on the limited data we had from Wuhan and then Italy (although I'll never agree with 2.2 million dead from the Imperial Model). The IME model was off on hospital usage, but it's projecting deaths fairly accurately. We seem to be on pace to exceed 60K, unfortunately.
That said, the fact unemployment can lead to a public health disaster illustrates the need for a much, much stronger safety net. We got too complacent over the years (and not just Trump, we can go all the way back to the 70s), thinking something like could never happen. It only happens "over there" or only happened "back then." Pandemics are a constant threat, and we've been lucky something like the Bird Flu didn't reach critical mass. But it could happen. This situation kind of reveals the human arrogance we have toward nature, thinking we're always in control. Sometimes we just have to "hide" until nature decides to let us out. We can't even beat the flu. It's still a mass killer. Now what happens if a worse flu occurs?

Trump supporters are sparking a “protest movement” against social distancing restrictions aimed at forcing governors to reopen their economies at a time when tens of thousands of Americans have died from the virus in the span of just one month.
Ashley Smith, who founded an anti-social distancing group called “ReopenNC,” said that she wasn’t worried about dying as long as it means the economy can reopen.
“When it’s my time to go, God’s going to call me home,” she tells the publication. “I think that to live is inherently to take risks. I’m not concerned about this virus any more than I am about the flu.”

Yep. And those that sacrificed some liberty for the short term in service of public safety were "democrats and republicans" alike. The difference today, in the age of twitter, 24/7 news stations, conspiracy theories, and what not, is that EVERYTHING has to be framed as some culture war. These people don't give a shit about the economy. They probably can work from home, work a job that is naturally socially distanced, or are retired. They're "rebelling" against these measures because they perceive these measures to be a "liberal thing." Or perceive Covid-19 fear to be a "liberal thing."
I mean, shit, we've only been locked down for a month to two fuckin' weeks. It's not much to ask from our population until we can get more clarity on the situation.

So we just got a call that my half brothers aunt died of COVID19. I don't really feel any sort of emotional trauma because I never knew the lady but it's obvious my brother transmitted the virus. They listed the death as COVID
But man, just a week ago I posted how they denied testing to my half brother for potential COVID because he didnt have all the symptoms. Somehow I think this could have been prevented if they admitted my bro to the hospital..He had fever but was told to isolate instead of testing.

Nothing about this situation is unprecedented in American history, yet the "Don't Tread on Me" crowd are acting like we're descending into an Orwellian nightmare.

ppl are missing the point
even at this current state the virus would probably be equivalent of a massive flu on a healthy individual. if contagion is not controlled the toll on our medical services and thus other services (food, transport, security, garbage) would be great
scarcity of food and all other problems associated with this not to mention economic
so no, most likely this flu wont kill you but if it becomes pandemic you will suffer 100% sure of this
we must hope it will be controlled. next few days will be key
travel needs to be shut down and WHO needs to call this what it is a global emergency

Nice strawman. Didn't say anything about hand holding at all. It's more like this:
Government/Health officials: "Hmm. There's this virus that seems to be highly contagious, is statistically worse than the flu, has a higher hospitalization rate, is something we don't have immunity nor a treatment for, so we're going to shutdown all non-essential businesses and prohibit crowds larger than 10 people from gathering. Not doing so will accelerate spread. Please advise."

Not even about the guy on twitter. I was responding to your video about the protests going on Michigan, and the usual suspects driving around with signs that say, "Freedom is Essential."
What "freedoms" are being restricted here really? "Uh, non-essential businesses and big crowds and stuff." And why is that? "Freedom" doesn't mean you get to do what the fuck you want at the detriment of others. Some "Freedumb" dumbass who wants to hold an 80 large protest rally or packed Church service runs the risk of multiple people getting sick. That itself isn't really a problem since those people basically agreed to the risk. But then what happens is they go somewhere else while they're asymptomatic and risk giving it to someone or then go to the hospital and risk infecting healthcare workers or other patients. And this is unacceptable because they brought the risk onto themselves, yet society has to pay for their obstinance.

How about the right of others to that "pursuit of happiness" thing?
Here's the issue right now. We do have many risks in day-to-day life, and some of those consequences do wind up being socialized. We'll use the flu as an example. We gather in crowds, shake hands, go to restaurants, go to work when sick, share food, etc, etc despite the risk of catching or passing on the flu. And why is this behavior allowed during flu season but not now? Because we have a "social contract" in the case of the flu due to our familiarity with it and the cost/benefit tradeoff of overreacting to the flu every season or just going on about life as usual in the face of that risk. We agree to this because it's best for our collective "pursuit of happiness."
With Covid, we do not yet have that consensus social contract, primarily due to the unfamiliarity with the virus. Right now, we intuitively believe it's worse than flu by an unknown factor, so the consensus social contract at the moment is to limit its spread by staying-at-home. These babies throwing their tantrum are potentially infringing upon that right to life, liberty (a sick or dead person doesn't have much/any liberty), and pursuit of happiness of others. What if there's a super spreader who gets that whole group sick? They in turn flood their small local hospital. Meanwhile, someone who is an essential worker gets it, severely. They go to that small hospital, but the ICU beds are occupied by the babies who threw their freedumb protest?
What then? We could argue, "well, that's the risk of living for you," if we had a social contract in this case. But in Covid's case, we do not.

China gave 500mg 2x per day. Double the dose for malaria treatment & rheumatoid arthritis since the 1930's. Also double what the in vitro covid study used.

Mainstream narrative has spent years demonizing these people and now expect a social contract to be agreed upon. Turns out that calling everyone a racist, attacking people on a regular basis for apparel, demonizing highschool kids for smirking, etc doesn't make for a very agreeable person when it comes to creating a social contract. What's a pandemic have to do with any of that? This isn't a "left or right" issue, and the health risks have nothing to do with Liberal media bias. The stats are there for anyone to look at. If some Trumper, who thinks this "is just the flu" wants to see for himself, he can easily compare hospitalization rates in New York for flu season and now. He'll see 18K for the flu over 6 months and 42K in 2 months for Covid. And how does the fact we have no immunity to this virus have a "liberal bias?" That should be common sense. Things we have no immunity for are serious business, even if the mortality rate might wind up being lower than viruses we have immunity to because the no immunity virus can simply infect a shit ton of more people.
I haven't watched A SINGLE minute of CNN, MSNBC, etc coverage on this. Nor does the Trumper need to. The black-and-white statistics are easy to find. You don't need the CNN man or FOX man to tell you anything.
I spoke about this ITT earlier. The problem is the Trumper reflexively frames EVERYTHING into some cultural war vs. his liberal enemy. They perceive the Covid situation and the response to be "liberal thing," for some reason, maybe because a Liberal state was the first to lockdown.

The pandemic exists and there are different approaches to go about living during the pandemic. If you spend years attacking people then don't expect them to happily fall in line with your approach. When have facts attacked these people? Once again, you're viewing this through the lens of "liberal media." What's preventing a Trumper from looking at the facts at hand and then saying to himself, "You know, this looks serious. I think the lockdown might help."
He perceives this as a liberal thing because he consumes information about this situation through his favorite echo chambers. My argument is he doesn't need an echo chamber because there's plenty of information that just presents the facts as is. But he "gets enjoyment" out of being contrarian toward whatever liberals do.

Can we shoot them?
Just gotta love the irony. Same people saying black lives matter congesting the street ought to be run over because they're creating havoc out there are the same geniuses creating traffic jams and making it impossible for ambulances from getting to their destination.
Just give each one a notice they will receive no healthcare services related to contracting COVID. Employees fire their sorry asses for endanger the workplace.

I have zero problems with those demonstrations, tbh... I mean, it actually paints a clear picture that these dumb people are a very, very tiny minority, which is what you would expect, and certainly reassuring.

Perhaps the "Trumper" doesn't agree with the lock down strategy. Perhaps they think there was an overreach in said strategy. Perhaps they disagree with the timing of the implementation of said strategy Perhaps the "Trumper" doesn't like that countless terrible decisions have made this situation worse and now they are forced suffer the consequences.
I suppose this argument works for a small segment of conservatives but overall conservatives consume a lot more information from opposing positions than leftists. That being said I don't know if they perceive this as a "liberal thing". I don't know their motivations at all but I'm sure there are many.

- Perhaps the "Trumper" doesn't agree with the lock down strategy.
-Perhaps they think there was an overreach in said strategy.
And why? Because his echo chamber tells him to through straight out lies or a liberal stretching of the facts.
Perhaps the "Trumper" doesn't like that countless terrible decisions have made this situation worse and now they are forced suffer the consequences.
What countless terrible decisions? If you're talking about the run up to the pandemic, sure. Terrible decisions were made by Trump, DeBlasio and his health commissioner. The WHO. China. The CDC. Both sides of the political coin fucked up here. But right now, the Trumper's complaint has been about the lockdown measures. These measures have not made the situation worse. Social distancing and business closures have been proven pandemic mitigation strategies for over a 100 years. My feeling is the Trumper is just mad because it seems Dem governors are leading the charge in this regard (although a few (R) governors have stepped up to the plate).
The Trumper offers no logical counterargument to this situation aside from "the economy." The Trumper can't handle the fact that normalcy has to change for a year or more, which is why he's throwing his "Freedumb" tantrums.

If he does, it's because he does so to enjoy his own anger and outrage. Happens on the Left, too. It's been known that a big chunk of Rush's audience are his "haters." If the Trumper actually consumed all viewpoints with intellectual honesty, he'd understand why these lockdown measures are justified, and aren't some totalitarian assault on his liberty. But I get it. Gearing up with a tac vest and brandishing your rifle out in the street is a lot more fun, and makes for a great twitter photo op to impress the other rubes.

California to provide more help for unemployed undocumented immigrants and others
The governor said the $125-million relief effort for immigrants without legal status was partly funded by nonprofit organizations and would provide cash grants to individuals and families in need. A group of 23 state assembly members sent a letter to Newsom last week asking him to create such a fund.
“We feel a deep sense of gratitude for people that are in fear of deportation but are still addressing the essential needs of tens of millions of Californians” in food gathering and other tasks, the governor said.
The proposal, he said, will offer $500 cash grants for individuals in the U.S. illegally and up to $1,000 for families, with applications set to be accepted starting next month.
The money will be dispersed through regional nonprofit groups with experience serving people who are in the country illegally, the governor said.

White House points to CDC guidelines as more meatpacking workers infected
Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue urged food industry workers on Wednesday to comply with public health guidelines as the number of positive cases of coronavirus among meatpacking workers keeps rising.
Two major meatpacking plants have been forced to close in recent days after employees have become infected and some died. More than 500 employees working at a Smithfield facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, have tested positive, leading the plant on Sunday to shut down indefinitely.
Numerous other, smaller plants around the country have reported deaths and cases of workers contracting the disease.
Agriculture has been classified by the federal government as a critical industry that must remain operating even as the rest of the country shuts down to help contain the virus' spread. Public health officials recommend that such workers follow safety precautions such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and monitoring temperatures. Employers should also disinfect and clean work spaces.
The shutdowns have also led to a backlog of meat waiting to be processed, especially pork.

After Anonymous Tip, 17 Bodies Are Found at Nursing Home Hit by Virus (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/15/nyregion/coronavirus-nj-andover-nursing-home-deaths.html)
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/15/nyregion/coronavirus-nj-andover-nursing-home-deaths.html
The 17 were among 68 recent deaths linked to the long-term care facility, Andover Subacute and Rehabilitation Center I and II, including two nurses, officials said. Of those who died, 26 people had tested positive for the virus.
For the others, the cause of death is unknown.
Of the patients who remain at the homes, housed in two buildings, 76 have tested positive for the virus; 41 staff members, including an administrator, are sick with Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, according to county health records shared on Wednesday with a federal official.

The same illegals who mow your lawn, pick your fruit, fix your car, keep your grocery stores stocked, make your burritos, care for your kids, sweep the floors in your Beloved Wal Mart, and do all the other jobs you'll only pay minimum wage for someone to do. While expecting them to stay alive and provide for their families. Which enables you to go out and buy your tools, trucks, guns and boats. And enables your president to run his many resorts.
Our way of life is not free. And I'm still waiting to see one of your Nebraska/Alabama cohort offering to make my burrito or trim my trees. For any price, much less $7-$10 an hour. I'm not holding my breath.
