Maybe trump should have followed putin’s lead as US has had over 200,000 new cases in one day.
Bars, clubs and restaurants in Moscow face two months of overnight closures to reduce the spread of COVID, as Russia's daily tally of cases exceeded 20,000.

Persistent and extensive lung damage seen in COVID-19 patients
some people who recover from the infection have reported persistent symptoms surrounding the lungs, such as difficulty breathing.
A small fraction of people have also reported having other lasting symptoms;
these individuals have been dubbed "long haulers" or "long-COVID” patients.

massive lung thrombosis,
persistent viral infection,
endothelial dysfunction,
as well as the presence of dysmorphic cells in the lungs.

Finally a decent study to prove 1) HCQ does not kill people when used at appropriate dosages 2) HCQ does not work to treat people after they have progressed past the viral replication stage of the illness
Still no good study on early use of HCQ to prevent serious illness.
One good study on prophylactic use of HCQ which demonstrated it does not prevent infection. However 100% of participants did not develop serious illness, although that was not the focus of the study.

Study of nearly 2,000 Marine recruits reveals asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 transmission
2,000 Marine recruits who went through supervised quarantine before starting basic training
revealed several instances of asymptomatic transmission of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, despite the quarantine measures.
The findings have important implications for the effectiveness of public health measures to suppress transmission of COVID-19 among young adults, whether in military training, schools, or other aspects of the pandemic.
transmission occurred despite implementing many best-practice public health measures, and
that diagnoses were made only by scheduled tests,
not by tests performed in response to symptoms.
regular testing not dependent on symptoms identifies carriers who can transmit SARS-CoV-2.

nothing but the flu
Life after COVID hospitalization: Study shows major lasting effects on health, work & more
Death, rehospitalization, and problems with basic activities, jobs, mental health and finances seen in many patients treated at 38 Michigan hospitals
Within two months of leaving the hospital, nearly 7% of the patients had died,
including more than 10% of the patients treated in an ICU.
Fifteen percent had ended up back in the hospital.
When researchers interviewed 488 of the surviving patients by phone around
60 days after their hospitalization,
they heard a litany of health and life woes.
"These data suggest that the burden of COVID-19 extends far beyond the hospital and far beyond health,"
"The mental, financial and physical tolls of this disease among survivors appear substantial."
More than 39% of the patients interviewed said they hadn't gotten back to normal activities yet, two months after leaving the hospital.
Twelve percent of the patients said they couldn't carry out basic care for themselves anymore, or as well as before.
Nearly 23% said they became short of breath just climbing a flight of stairs.
One-third had ongoing COVID-like symptoms,
including many who still had problems with taste or smell.
40% said they couldn't return to work,
most because of their health and some because they'd lost their job.
And 26% of those who had gone back to work said they had to work fewer hours or have reduced duties because of their health.

Based in Plano, Texas, his ministry announced his death at the age of 75.
Irving Baxter Jr. explained his thoughts on COVID-19 that
he had been “thinking about … the sin of fornication.” :lol while masturbating
According to something he read :lol in the “encyclopedia,”
only 5% of new U.S. brides were virgins,
meaning that the rest were guilty of fornication.
He went on to explain that this may be a “wake-up call” from God.

COVID hits first Caribbean cruise
Update 11/13/2020 2:30pm EST: Testing by Barbados authorities has confirmed seven cases (https://thepointsguy.com/news/caribbean-cruise-covid-scare-seadream/) of coronavirus infections among passengers on the ship, according to Gene Sloan, a cruise reporter who is on board and in quarantine. That's about 13 percent of the 53 passengers on board. Five of the cases are all part of the same traveling party. The remaining two are a husband and wife, not traveling with the five other cases. All of the cases came to light after a member of the party of five developed symptoms and tested positive on Wednesday. This prompted the ship to go into lockdown and begin testing all 119 on board. So far, all other passengers and crew on board have tested negative.
Sloan reports that the seven infected passengers will be moved from the ship to an isolation facility in Barbados. The remaining passengers who have tested negative might be able to leave the ship later Friday or Saturday and board flights back to their home countries. The 53 passengers include 37 Americans, as well as passengers from the UK, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany, according to Sloan.

The White House has embraced a declaration by a group of scientists arguing that

two senior administration officials, both speaking anonymously because they were not authorized to give their names, cited an October 4 petition titled

"The most compassionate approach :lol that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity,

Collateral damage from The Trump-Made Pandemic
Doctors Are Calling It Quits Under Stress of the Pandemic
Thousands of medical practices are closing, as doctors and nurses decide to retire early or shift to less intense jobs.
But just as her practice was beginning to thrive, the coronavirus hit the United States and began spreading across the country.
“As an independent practice with no real connection to a big health system, it was awful,” Dr. McGregory said.
At one point, she had only three surgical masks left
and worried that she could no longer safely treat patients.
Families were also staying away, concerned about catching the virus.
Dr. McGregory, 49, made the difficult decision to close her practice in August. “It was devastating,” she said. “That was my baby.”
Thousands of medical practices have closed during the pandemic,
About 8 percent of the doctors reported closing their offices in recent months, which the foundation estimated could equal some 16,000 practices.
Another 4 percent said they planned to shutter within the next year.
About half already said their mental exhaustion was at an all-time high.
Many worried about keeping their doors open:
about 7 percent said they were not sure they could remain open past December without financial help.

at home rapid testing, by prescription
(don't you want these handed out like candy on Halloween? distribution should be general, we should at least try to catch some asymptomatic spreaders.)
The Lucira COVID-19 All-In-One Test Kit test has been authorized for home use with self-collected nasal swab samples in individuals age 14 and older who are suspected of COVID-19 by their health care provider. It is also authorized for use in point-of-care (POC) settings (e.g., doctor’s offices, hospitals, urgent care centers and emergency rooms) for all ages but samples must be collected by a healthcare provider when the test is used at the POC to test individuals younger than 14 years old. The test is currently authorized for prescription use only.

South Korea reported 313 new daily COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the highest number since August, as cluster infections continued to emerge from offices, medical facilities and small gatherings, prompting authorities to tighten social distancing rules.
Of the new cases, 245 were locally transmitted and 68 imported. Nearly 74% of domestic infections came from the greater Seoul area, home to around half of the country’s 52 million population, including cases linked to a hiking club, a gym, a manufacturing plant and family gatherings.
Total infections are now at 29,311, with 496 deaths.https://www.reuters.com/article/health-coronavirus-southkorea/south-korea-daily-covid-19-cases-highest-since-august-nationwide-infections-feared-idUSKBN27Y05D

The “War on Christmas” Is About to Make the Pandemic Exponentially Worse
This holiday season, partisan posturing about
who hates “family” is the best accelerant the coronavirus could hope for.
https://compote.slate.com/images/5d4fad96-1722-40ef-bf76-b224fa853caa.jpeg?width=780&height=520&rect=1560x1040&offset=0x0
The “War on Christmas,” Daniel Denvir wrote (https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2013/12/war-on-christmas-short-history-101222) in a 2013 “Short History” of the concept in Politico, has become “drearily routine, an annual pageant in which culture warriors line the trenches, and like mechanical toy soldiers in a shopping-mall display, fix bayonets and wage the same battle over and over again.”
It’s the idea that liberals are at odds with the idea of “family” that underlies the part of the holiday culture war that’s by far most potent and dangerous in 2020.
The claim that liberals want to break down your family may not be the first thing you think of when you consider the so-called War on Christmas, but it’s always there.
“Top Ten Reasons Why Liberals Hate The Holidays,” a church in Colorado made this connection explicit.
The cultural roots of our public health crisis are deep, and
our leadership isn’t helping.
Indoor gatherings (https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/11/12/covid-social-gatherings/) are killing people,

We know this because of the previous summer surge,

No hospitals over capacity
Some smaller hospitals are having a particularly difficult time managing the virus. Officials at a Rockwall County hospital — about 30 miles east of Dallas — said it was over capacity this week.
As of Wednesday, 75% of the hospital beds were filled with COVID-19 patients, the Rockwall hospital officials said.
The occupancy rate stood at 120%.“That means we currently have 72 patients needing one of our 60 beds,” wrote Cindy Perrin, president of Texas Health Hospital Rockwall, in a pre-Thanksgiving Day holiday letter to the community first reported by NBC5 (https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/coronavirus/hospital-officials-eying-covid-19-cases-capacity-with-holiday-season/2490678/). “Hear our nurses and others who echo these sentiments all over the U.S. … I implore you to wear a mask, limit gatherings, wash your hands and behave responsibly.”

North Texas crossed a critical threshold in the number of hospital patients fighting COVID-19 that could trigger bar closings and lower occupancies at stores and restaurants if such cases don’t decrease within a week.
With more than 2,300 patients testing positive for the coronavirus in the 19-county hospital region, 15.04% of all beds were occupied by a person with COVID-19, according to state data.

Universities in Massachusetts are a bright spot:
The return of tens of thousands of college students to Massachusetts from all corners of the US and world, once feared as a super-spreading provocation, has instead proved to be one of the few successes of the pandemic, thanks to an extensive testing system that could serve as a model for the rest of society.
The immense undertaking by many New England colleges and universities included testing students when they first arrived on campus, requiring them to wear face masks and limit social gatherings, and, throughout the fall, making everyone on campus undergo a nose swab test for COVID-19 at least once a week — with results usually available within less than 24 hours.
With several thousand students on many of the state’s college campuses, higher education institutions have conducted more than 2.8 million COVID tests since Aug. 15, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The result is an infection rate among college students that is significantly lower than among the broader population in the state.
“It is a pretty good miniature blueprint of what we should be doing as a society,” said Marc Lipsitch, an epidemiologist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. “Frequent, rapid turnaround testing . . . that should absolutely be replicated at the societal scale.”

Scott Atlas bugs out
Fox News exclusively obtained Atlas’s resignation letter Monday, which was dated Dec. 1. In it, Atlas touted the Trump administration's work on the coronavirus pandemic, while wishing "all the best" to the incoming Biden administration.
“I am writing to resign from my position as Special Advisor to the President of the United States,” Atlas said, thanking him for “the honor and privilege to serve on behalf of the American people.”
“I worked hard with a singular focus—to save lives and help Americans through this pandemic,” Atlas wrote, adding that he “always relied on the latest science and evidence, without any political consideration or influence.”
“As time went on, like all scientists and health policy scholars, I learned new information and synthesized the latest data from around the world, all in an effort to provide you with the best information to serve the greater public good,” Atlas wrote. “But, perhaps more than anything, my advice was always focused on minimizing all the harms from both the pandemic and the structural policies themselves, especially to the working class and the poor.”

No it doesn't. See new York. It doesnt bend anything. There are no healthy people unnecessarily dying. Avg age of death is past life expectancy and avg 3 comorbidities. The end.

Covid-19: Lung damage 'identified' in study
tried out his scanning technique on 10 patients aged between 19 and 69.
Eight of them had persistent shortness of breath and tiredness three months after being ill with coronavirus,
even though none of them had been admitted to intensive care or required ventilation, and
conventional scans had found no problems in their lungs.
The scans showed signs of lung damage - by highlighting areas where air is not flowing easily into the blood - in the eight who reported breathlessness.
"I was expecting some form of lung damage, but not to the degree that we have seen."
if the trial discovers that the lung damage occurs across a wider age group and even in those not requiring admission to hospital "it would move the goalposts,"

The persistence of SARS-CoV-2 in the olfactory epithelium and the olfactory bulb post-infection is correlated with loss of smell and taste; we also know that infection can lead to cellular dysmorphia in the heart.
COVID-19 will have a long tail. In the USA that long tail will be markedly worse than other countries because our caseload is so much higher.

Pandemic-downplaying GOP governor’s grandmother dies in coronavirus-plagued nursing home
https://www.rawstory.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/noem_RNC_convention-screenshot.jpg
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, who has constantly downplayed the novel coronavirus pandemic while refusing to even implement face mask mandates,
lost her 98-year-old grandmother who was staying in a nursing home plagued by the deadly disease last month.
Noem has continued to focus on encouraging people to go shopping instead of following public health guidelines even after her grandmother’s death.
she did not mention the dozen of her fellow nursing home residents who died.
“For Noem to have mentioned the dozen other dead would have raised the specter of the virus that killed them
even as she was continuing to claim that she had brought it under control by invoking personal responsibility :lol
rather than mandating a vital precaution — a face mask — that is as simple and unimposing as wearing a seatbelt,”

Americans are choosing death over deprivation
millions of Americans joined together in total defiance of all public health advice for another round of
infecting and killing their loved ones,
while ensuring that the nation's medical professionals will face several more months of risky, grueling, emotionally draining labor
trying to keep a country full of heedless jerks and credulous conspiracy-mongers alive.
Many doctors, nurses, and hospital staff are increasingly hopeless and disillusioned.
many of them are wondering how much longer they can keep it up.
40 percent of respondents told researchers (https://www.vox.com/2020/11/14/21565314/covid-thanksgiving-holidays-distancing-masks) they were planning on attending a large, in-person gathering.
All of this while a record 90,000 people were already hospitalized (https://deadline.com/2020/11/u-s-covid-hospitalizations-top-90000-for-first-time-thanksgiving-marks-33rd-consecutive-record-day-1234622590/) with COVID-19, and
public health professionals begged people to stay home so as not to exacerbate the problem.
many Americans are now consciously choosing to spread death and suffering
over finding the strength to endure for a few more months.
And they aren't just harming themselves:
They are putting unimaginable strain on the country's health-care system,
as burned out doctors, nurses, and staff ask themselves why they are martyring themselves on behalf of such a venal society.
"Many of my colleagues (the including me)," said one pediatrician friend, "have had their faith in humanity irreparably damaged by our countrymen's response to this challenge."
"I feel upset with these folks because
this is inevitably going to cause more death and harm and
not just to them but others who did stay home and followed guidelines."
He added that much of the blame rests with national and state political leaders
the staff at her facility "is wonderful but furious when
it is the patients' reckless behavior that puts them in the ICU for COVID."
Fury gives way to exhaustion and resignation.
"They still provide superhuman care," she says, "but it's only human to be frustrated."

What negative candle reviews might say about the coronavirus
Scented candles are getting panned more often,
a scan of 20,000 online reviews shows,
suggesting there might be a covid-19 connection
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/12/01/covid-scented-candle-reviews
Some serious reports that burning candles releases nano-particles, toxic chemicals and gases that is effectively second-hand cigarette smoke.

The Staggering Human Cost Of Trump’s Scott Atlas Debacle (https://www.nationalmemo.com/human-cost-scott-atlas-debacle)
Atlas' appointment in August represented the purest example of the disastrous impact of the feedback loop
between President Donald Trump and Fox's propaganda.
An unqualified ideologue launched to power because the president liked his Fox hits,
under his guidance Trump oversaw
a predictable and horrifying surge in the virus that repeatedly reached the White House itself.
Tucker Carlson, who praised him for being "brave" and "right."
" "We see that objective journalism is nearly dead, :lol Carlson, Hannity, Fox! :lol

and it's very, very dangerous," Atlas told the host.
"I think we should all be very concerned about it." :lol

Ohio issues travel advisory for Ohio
The Ohio Department of Health’s latest COVID-19 travel advisory (https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/covid-19/families-and-individuals/covid-19-travel-advisory/covid-19-travel-advisory) includes Ohio for the first time since early April, meaning the state’s positivity rate is above 15 percent.
The new advisory implies Ohioans should avoid traveling to Ohio and those entering Ohio after traveling outside Ohio should self-quarantine in Ohio for 14 days.
Confused? Don’t be. Bizarre implications aside, the advisory published Wednesday lays out what Ohio’s inclusion means at a practical level for Ohioans:
“The state has seen record levels of cases, deaths, and hospitalizations in the past week, and all Ohioans can help to limit the spread and impact of this virus. This includes recommendations to stay at home except for necessary trips for supplies, consistent mask-wearing when around others, and frequent hand washing. Together we can help stop the spread of COVID-19.”

Iowa: 43.4 percent
South Dakota: 41.1 percent
Kansas: 40 percent
Alabama: 33 percent
Pennsylvania: 29 percent
Arizona: 23 percent

LA locks down:
All residents within the city of Los Angeles were ordered to remain in their homes effective immediately, according to an emergency order (https://www.lamayor.org/sites/g/files/wph446/f/page/file/20201202%20Mayor%20Public%20Order%20Targeted%20SAH %20Order_1.pdf) issued Wednesday evening.
The previous “safer-at-home” order was withdrawn and superseded by the new one published Wednesday (https://www.lamayor.org/sites/g/files/wph446/f/page/file/20201202%20Mayor%20Public%20Order%20Targeted%20SAH %20Order_1.pdf), which is “necessary for the protection of life and property in the City of Los Angeles,” the order states. It largely mirrors the existing LA. County protocols (https://ktla.com/news/local-news/l-a-county-health-officials-announce-3-week-stay-at-home-order-banning-most-gatherings-set-to-take-effect-on-monday/) that went into effect Monday.
Many residents were notified with an email and text alert from the city’s NotifyLA System Wednesday night.
.
L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti held a briefing just two hours earlier but did not mention the new rules.
Non-exempt businesses in the city were ordered to cease operations that require in-person attendance of staff. However, there is a broad list of exceptions (https://www.lamayor.org/sites/g/files/wph446/f/page/file/20201202%20Mayor%20Public%20Order%20Targeted%20SAH %20Order_1.pdf) for various businesses and workers deemed essential or exempt.
People may lawfully leave their residences only to engage in defined essential activities.
All travel, including on foot, bicycle, scooter, motorcycle, automobile, or public transit is prohibited.
Those experiencing homelessness are exempt from the requirement to stay inside.
Mirroring the county’s order, all public and private gatherings with people from more than one household are prohibited, except for outdoor faith-based services and protests.
Failure to comply with the new health order will constitute a misdemeanor subject to fines and imprisonment, according to the document. The mayor urged the Los Angeles Police Department and the city attorney to “vigorously enforce this.”
“My message couldn’t be simpler,” Garcetti said in his earlier briefing. “It’s time to hunker down. It’s time to cancel everything. And if it isn’t essential, don’t do it.”

‘Makes you ask why the hell we even bother.’
Infectious disease experts face disillusionment as COVID-19 pandemic worsens
Michael Mina could have pursued a career as a potter.
Or remained a Buddhist monk in Sri Lanka.
Instead, he opted to become an epidemiologist, a profession that now has his head hitting the pillow around 4 a.m. each day for five hours of sleep.
He spends the bulk of his time in his office — or rather, the coffee table jury-rigged into a standing desk in his Jamaica Plain apartment —
searching for ways to ease the pandemic’s devastation and fielding a barrage of media requests.
But each week, amidst the thousands of e-mails he receives and the thousands of patients filling ICU beds across the country,
it is not the exhaustion that weighs most heavily on Mina.
It’s the dejection.

the Aryan Master Race Repugs couldn't care less, The Trump-Made Pandemic as ethnic/racial cleansing
Black, Hispanic Children Bear Disproportionate Burden Of COVID-19
expected that they would find that the disease afflicted Black and Hispanic children at higher rates, just as it had in the adult population.
It turns out the unequal burden borne by minority children was even greater than they expected.
three out of four children hospitalized with severe cases of COVID-19 were Black or Hispanic (23.3% Black and 51% Hispanic).
In comparison, only 38% of adults aged 65 or over who were hospitalized were from a minority group (27% Black and 11% Hispanic),
nearly all the sites reported that the majority of patients diagnosed with the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 were Hispanic and/or Black.

it's completely appropriate to characterize the low-energy US response to COVID-19 as being low key racist genocide.

well, it's looks the aggrieved White Male Supremacist is not only the weaker gender but also the weaker race.
Once hospitalized, Black patients with COVID-19 have lower risk of death than white
once hospitalized, Black patients (after controlling for other serious health conditions and neighborhood income) were less likely to have severe illness, die, or be discharged to hospice compared to White patients.

Lower ifr than flu for working class and under.
Only at mid 60s does chance of death from covid rival chance of normal risk of death.
And even when there is separation it is by less than a percent.
Healthy people are not at risk of death from this more than any other risk of death.
The end.

the Alberta data reveals that 77.1% of people who died of COVID-19 did so while grappling with 3 or more underlying conditions. The percentage of people who have died with zero underlying conditions is 2%, and that tally includes people in their 90s.
