The spikes can be explained by other mechanisms - mostly increased availability of tests and more public awareness of symptoms so that common flu isn't misdiagnosed.

After it's settled, the data will be smoothed and the spikes will likely disappear. Then someone will look at other areas like traffic fatalities and other deaths to see if they diminished and by how much, do the math and offer up a total cost in lives - as if that matters to anyone involved with the virus.

at least 116 people initially cleared of the new coronavirus had tested positive again,

the virus may have been reactivated rather than the patients being re-infected.

faulty tests may be playing a role, or

remnants of the virus may still be in patients’ systems but not be infectious or of danger to the host or others.


The 116 cases is more than double the 51 such cases South Korea reported a week earlier.
