Corrupt Trash repeating is life-long corrupt ways

Trump offered German firm ‘large sum’ for exclusive coronavirus vaccine — to make sure it would be available for profit

German lawmakers and government officials voiced outrage at reporting (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-germany-usa/germany-tries-to-stop-us-from-luring-away-firm-seeking-coronavirus-vaccine-idUSKBN2120IV) Sunday that the

Trump administration is seeking to secure exclusive rights to a potential coronavirus vaccine

being developed by the German firm CureVac

the Trump administration offered CureVac $1 billion to hand the U.S. exclusive rights to a potential COVID-19 vaccine.

"This is depraved.

The German government confirms that Trump apparently

tried to bribe German scientists into giving him exclusive rights to the Covid-19 vaccine

they were working on developing.

He wanted it “for the US only.”

How many new lows will he set for the United States? "

So yeah boutons, if you can't hold your breath for 10 seconds then consider immediately going to one of those evils doctors you hate so much.

I don't understand this hoarding mentality of people...is it fear? does stocking piling toilet paper make you feel like you have some sense of control? I went to the store today just to do my regular grocery shopping and it was like "Black Friday."

Why shouldn't there be fear? You're in healthcare right? Tell us how prepared our healthcare system is for this disaster. Look at the logarithmic graphs of the death counts for Italy and the US and how similar the slope is and tell me why we're going to be different.

Vice President Pence says more than 2,000 labs will have high-speed testing capability by Monday

During a White House briefing Sunday, Vice President Mike Pence announced that “more than 2,000 labs” will have high-speed testing capacity by Monday.

Since the declaration of a national state of emergency, Pence said federal public health services have worked with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and "have reached out to all 50 states to create a process that will enable all Americans who need to be tested to go to a community-based testing site outside of usual health care facilities."

Pence noted these tests will be focused on those "most in need."

Adm. Brett Giroir with the US Public Health Service outlined how new coronavirus testing will be rolled out. He said there would be 1.9 million tests available this week across the 2,000 labs. Giroir also emphasized that the priority would be placed on those most vulnerable.

Giroir added that there wouldn’t be undue stress put on the acute health care system, meaning emergency rooms or urgent care

If they had used the WHO's test, and Trump hadn't fired the pandemic team at the White house, we would have had this capacity in January, you stupid fuck.

1.9 million ICU admissions over two months.

320K free beds.

Assume hospitalization requirement is one week for urgent care.

1.9M people divided by eight weeks, implies a need of roughly 237,000 hospital beds. IF that 1.9M were infected at an even pace. IF "hospital bed" = 100% respirator and specialized care fore every hospital bed.

Neither of those "ifs" represent reality. The need for ventilator support will be one in five, per the graph. Not sure what the ratio of beds to support is right now, but my recent visit to the hospital last week didn't note that much equipment in the rooms. Probably some in storage, but that means at the peak, we will be facing the same problems as Italy, i.e. shortage of equipment.

Given bell shaped curves, let's assume that about 1/3 of the infections will occur simultaneously at the peak. 32,000,000 * .05 = Peak need around 1,600,000, or five times capacity.

Cases requiring ventilatory support is one percent, or 320,000. Assume that ratio of ventilators to beds is roughly 1:5. of these 320,000, there will only be 62,000 ventilators.

Assume lack of ventilator is 50% fatal. My gut says this figure is too low, but for the sake of walkthrough.

320000-62000= 256000 * .5 = 125000 extra deaths from shortage of equipment.

Given the recent superspreading event, going to guess the peak is going to be a bit taller.

The delays in testing, and delays in implementing measures due to the delays in testing will cause that peak to be higher than it would have been otherwise as virus spreads undetected.

Trump's incompetence can argued to cause at hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths.

Cyberattack on HHS meant to slow coronavirus response, sources say

The Department of Health and Human Services experienced some form of cyberattack attack Sunday night related to its coronavirus response, administration sources confirmed to ABC News Monday.

The attempt was to slow down operations, sources said.

The nature and origin of the attack is still under investigation.

The attack was first reported by Bloomberg.

“As federal state and local governments focus on handling the current public health crisis, national security officials are also tracking other threats — in particular those posed by terrorist or extremist groups and foreign adversaries who may seek to take advantage of all of the attention being focused on the coronavirus and conduct an attack,” said John Cohen, a former acting Undersecretary of the Department of Homeland Security and contributor to ABC News.

This is a developing Story. Please check back for updates.

I posted during impeachment - that the GOP had an opportunity -

based on the evidence convincingly proving trumps guilt-

to remove trump from office now- to avoid any chance of trump hurting the country even more and possibly costing thousands or hundreds of thousand lives.

Of course- they failed to perform their duty and now this criminal has endangered scores of american lives with his incompetence and his evil actions.

THe GOP kept its ignorant cult happy- but screwed the other 67% of the country by allowing this criminal to get away with crimes.

History will show that americans died needlessly and will show that the person most responsible was trump and the people who aided and abetted him was the GOP.

I don't understand the permission for take-out & drive-thru. People are handling that food & packaging then passing it on to (us).

---------

In good times, upon gross examination it's ugly to reflect on these practices. Using utensils to eat with that others have ate with, no matter the intervening processes. Having a stranger prepare your food from scratch then another stranger serve it to you. Sure I do it, but, it is terribly gross.

Here's Trash obeying Pootin's strategy of degrading the USA, reducing influence, killing respect by other peoples

Trash is planning to cut foreign countries out of the medical supply chain by executive order: adviser

an executive order to repatriate foreign supply chains for medicine back to the United States, to reduce the health care system’s dependency on foreign countries.

70 percent of the ingredients used in advanced pharmaceuticals “comes from abroad … We’ve got face mask issues, goggle issues, things like that.”

“We need to have” the VA, Health and Human Services, and the Pentagon “buy that from American producers on American soil,”

https://www.rawstory.com/2020/03/trump-is-planning-to-cut-foreign-countries-out-of-the-medical-supply-chain-by-executive-order-adviser/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheRawStory+%28The+Raw+Story% 29 (https://www.rawstory.com/2020/03/trump-is-planning-to-cut-foreign-countries-out-of-the-medical-supply-chain-by-executive-order-adviser/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheRawStory+%28The+Raw+Story% 29)

:lol is "that" available from American sources? :lol

Just another well thought out strategy from Trash and his kakistocracy.

American Capitalism decided decades ago that they made more money from "buy" rather than "make"

And Trash's trade war? not gonna stop that to allow free flow of goods?

‘Stealth Transmission’ Fuels Fast Spread Of Coronavirus Outbreak

Undetected cases, many of which were likely not severely symptomatic, were largely responsible for the rapid spread of the COVID-19 outbreak in China,

• 86 percent of all infections were undocumented prior to the January 23 Wuhan travel shutdown

• Per person, these undocumented infections were half (52 percent) as contagious as documented infections yet were the source of two-thirds of documented infections

• Government control efforts and population awareness have reduced the rate of spread of the virus in China; after travel restrictions and control measures were imposed, it spread less quickly

“The explosion of COVID-19 cases in China was largely driven by individuals with mild, limited, or no symptoms who went undetected,”

stealth transmissions will continue to present a major challenge to the containment of this outbreak going forward.”

The Obama White House Warned Trump In 2017 About A Potential Global Pandemic

Just before Donald Trump took office in 2017,

officials in the Obama White House warned Trump’s team about

the need to plan for the very type of pandemic that is now wreaking havoc around the globe.

officials briefed the incoming administration on a scenario remarkably like the one he faces now.”

two-thirds of Trump officials who were briefed on the matter are no longer in the administration, :lol

which is likely one reason why the president has managed this current crisis so badly.

We had a snow in Austin. I spent enough time in the frozen tundra this year, don't need more.

just wait, DC area storms will destroy your will to survive. go buy a generator.
we're far enough from DC and far enough from the coast where the major storms rarely hit here. we do get a decent amount of thunderstorms and a tree did crush a car next door to us (all the trees around us have since been cut). but power outages are uncommon and here within the city, they do a good job of getting things back up pretty quick. if i was in the outskirts or in more rural areas, yeah i'd easily invest in a generator.

only thing i really have at this point as countermeasure is my car jumpstarter that also has USB charging ports

i mean dont get me wrong, within our first month of moving here we saw a tree fall and crush our neighbor's car :lol... thunderstorms here are much worse than anything i ever experienced in LA. and i mean not even close. but luckily Cville is far enough inland where we dont quite get the hurricanes

while we have had some power outages, the worst we had was ~3 hours. for those who live within the city or near the main roads, they do a good job of getting things back up. i asked my neighbors about it during that one big outage and they said it was really an exception, and its quite rare for outages to exceed an hour

same with plowing roads if there is snow. bigger issue is for people who have to commute to the city.

Federal officers seize fake COVID-19 test kits at Los Angeles International Airport

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Los Angeles International Airport intercepted a package containing suspected counterfeit COVID-19 test kits arriving from the United Kingdom, officials said Saturday.

Officers working in the airport’s international mail facility on Thursday discovered six plastic bags containing numerous vials in a parcel labeled “Purified Water Vials,” authorities said in a prepared statement.

After further examination, the officers found vials filled with a white liquid and labeled “Corona Virus 2019nconv (COVID-19)” and “Virus1 Test Kit,” authorities said. The shipment was then turned over to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for analysis.

Israel takes step toward monitoring phones of virus patients

Israel's Cabinet has authorized the Shin Bet internal security agency to use mobile-phone tracking technology to monitor the movements of coronovirus patients, despite an outcry from privacy advocates

JERUSALEM -- Israel has long been known for its use of technology to track the movements of Palestinian militants. Now, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to use similar technology to stop the movement of the coronavirus.

Netanyahu’s Cabinet on Sunday authorized the Shin Bet security agency to use its phone-snooping tactics on coronavirus patients, an official confirmed, despite concerns from civil-liberties advocates that the practice would raise serious privacy issues. The official spoke on condition of anonymity pending an official announcement.

How is Italy the worst case scenario for us? We haven't locked cities down and the no groups of 10 is just a recommendation with no teeth behind it. We could be worse. Our exponential growth rate in deaths was faster that Italy's when I checked it about 3 days ago. Eg you logarithmically plot deaths vs time in both countries and they're both very nearly straight lines (indicating plain as day exponential growth), with our line having a higher slope. So exponentiate to get the actual deaths and we our exponential was growing significantly faster and likely still is. Italy is not a worst case. It might even be an expected value.

Trump party voters tend to skew older.

The people in the Trump party have polled as being less concerned with virus, and take fewer precautions for it spreading. Implying that it will spread much more among Trump party members than Democrats.

I would grimly note that when it gets bad for the elderly, they won't be voting in November. Trump wont the electoral college by 77,000 votes, or less than one percent of total votes cast in three specific states. If every single vote in 2020 mirror 2016, and the death rate is anywhere near that of Italy, attrition alone might reverse the outcome.

February 2: “Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China. … We can’t have thousands of people coming in who may have this problem, the coronavirus. So we’re gonna see what happens, but we did shut it down, yes.”

February 14: “We have a very small number of people in the country, right now, with it. It’s like around 12. Many of them are getting better. Some are fully recovered already. So we’re in very good shape.”

February 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA… Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”

February 25: “CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus.”

February 25: “I think that's a problem that’s going to go away… They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine.”

February 26: “The 15 (cases in the US) within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.”

February 26: “We're going very substantially down, not up.”

February 27: “One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”

February 28: “We're ordering a lot of supplies. We're ordering a lot of, uh, elements that frankly we wouldn't be ordering unless it was something like this. But we're ordering a lot of different elements of medical.”

February 28: “Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus, you know that, right? Coronavirus, they’re politicizing it. We did one of the great jobs. You say, ‘How’s President Trump doing?’ They go, ‘Oh, not good, not good.’ They have no clue. They don’t have any clue. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa.” “They tried the impeachment hoax. That was on a perfect conversation. They tried anything. They tried it over and over. They’d been doing it since you got in. It’s all turning. They lost. It’s all turning. Think of it. Think of it. And this is their new hoax.”

March 2: “You take a solid flu vaccine, you don't think that could have an impact, or much of an impact, on corona?”

March 2: “A lot of things are happening, a lot of very exciting things are happening and they’re happening very rapidly.”

March 4: “If we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better.”

March 5: “I NEVER said people that are feeling sick should go to work.”

tbh, sorta infuriating we're still not testing nearly enough, have no actual real idea of the current scope. I don't think(?) lack of test availability is an issue anymore?

In addition to antivirals a number of rheumatoid arthritis medications are undergoing trials and showing promise
https://news.yahoo.com/trials-begin-existing-drugs-potential-171811834.html

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder and these drugs work by blocking cytokine production that causes the inflammation. It is the cytokine response to the virus that is causing the severe cases and deaths. If they can effectively block the cytokine response then we'll all just have a cold.

Just need time for them to figure this shit out.

Yeah. I mean it looks like we may be worse off than Italy. Check out our trend line in logarithm of deaths being steeper.

https://i.ibb.co/LPsMjvv/fuck.png

I'm giving all the caveats of not knowing the math behind the graphing or being an epidemiologist, but:

Day 1 (meaning 1 death).
Italy: Feb. 21
US: Feb. 29.

So they're 8 days ahead of us. As of March 8th (where Italy was compared to where we are today), Italy had 366 deaths. We've had 97. So they're over 3x worse from that vantage point.

I suspect you'll say that it's the day over day rise that shows how exponential we are compared to Italy, and the exponential rise is what matters.

To be fair, the US has generally adopted the social distancing rules fairly well, at least on large metropolis, despite the early communication irresponsibility from leadership.

Something Italy didn't really do until it was too late, but gave us a big heads up.

Also, the US is severely lacking on testing.

Say X(t) = number of deaths at time t. Those are graphs of log X(t) which are nearly linear, eg log X(t) = at + b for some numbers a,b, so that X(t) = e^(at + b) = e^b e^(at). The US's "a" coefficient is larger than Italy's in that graph from deaths up until 3/12 in those those two graphs since a gives the slope of the graphs and the US's is steeper. Hopefully we're actually socially distancing and bringing that a coefficient way down.

Hmm.

Not sure you can exactly compare the number of deaths, given the relative populations. A lot of factors go into morbidity, such as age as well. Italy is a bit older all things considered, than the US. If their slope is lower, that would imply ours is currently on a very dangerous trajectory. yikes.

That's the scary part. We can't really know. The testing isn't really ramped up even now. They will get that way in a couple of weeks.

Two more weeks for this thing to spread undetected in most places in the US.

We can't really trust the overall "reported cases" numbers. They are vastly too low, in all likelihood.

We can probably more closely trust the "death" numbers, because deaths are almost certainly tested. Those figures are a lot more accurate.

Given that our deaths are increasing faster than Italy's, this strongly implies our infection rate is a lot faster. we have slightly more hospital beds per capita, but I don't think that will make a spits worth of difference.

Are you sure? Maybe once the tests are/will be readily available. But over the past weeks?

Well anyone dying of respiratory distress are a lot more easily identified by medical professionals for testing. I"m sure that some happened, but given the publicity, I would think that any health care facility would require testing of deaths.

That said, I am not a medical expert. Just a good analyst. Always room for error.

I'm just saying that with the rationing of tests, the dead might fall behind in priority to ER personnel

9/11 wasn't really that bad in terms of disaster scale (a few buildings in a few cities). The reaction is what was bad, which is what OBL wanted to do, sadly

Yes, it was an ingenious hit by Bin.

He knew.

By definition, "martial law" in the US is Federal suspension of habeas corpus

calling it now, that's not happening in less than a week

So only way to get these test kits in your hands you need to be a ball player or an elite?

How are these tests so readily available for them but not the public? :lol we're only getting the bread crumbs. No wonder we're not keeping up with the test demands.

yup

the first thing that comes to mind when i hear a celebrity tested positive is:
”that person is famous enough to score a test? Good for him/her!”

Which players? Wouldn’t mind seeing Kyrie or dominos Durant kick the bucket.

Doesn't make much sense to not close the schools.
