The curve has to bend at some point through our lockdown and social distancing efforts, less prone regions that will naturally have a slower growth rate due to factors like population density, average age, obesity rate, climate, social behavior, use of mass transit, and so on. Basically, I think New York will start to slow at some point, which will also slow the national growth rate. And yes, I expect other hotpots to start their inflection points, but hopefully they won't explode like New York, which, as I've said, just checks ALL the boxes.

We have about 2.5k deaths right now. Assuming a slow 4 day doubling time for deaths (I think it'll be faster), in ~3 weeks we hit 150k dead. Thats why Fauci's numbers seem appropriate.

Trump has, though, destroyed the organizational memory, and hollowed out the depth of expertise in his administration. The pandemic experts in the White House--gone, and it goes downhill from there.

"acting" heads of agencies and departments, because he can't really attract anyone with any competence to get past the Senate. So many of his nominees were shockingly badly-suited for their roles. Ben Carson as HUD secretary? Devos? Frat-boy with no experience?

This is a textbook exercise in what NOT to do. One of the biggest red flags for any organization is turnover. I see it time and time again in companies I audit. If you see high turnover, your organization, what ever it is doing, is doing something horribly wrong.

Don't take my word for that. Search around business press, or any good management/business textbook. Look for the term "high turnover".

I'll take a look. Really I'm just watching the testing results and the percent positive. NY is at 34% from 30%, TX 9% from 7% for example. Louisiana coming down fro 15% to 12% now so hopefully that's a good sign for them.

he tested positive for covid-19 and it currently staying at home, though he says it didnt hit him hard and he's been asympomatic for 5 days.

he said he caught the plain flu back in december and his symptoms were worse then.
