No its not.
Absolutely incorrect.
You still fail to see the real threat of this particular virus. It infects and replicates in almost everyone. It tests the immune system of huge numbers of people.

Perfect in what sense? The rate of adverse reactions from it are no different than COVID vaccines, they also had their own incidents with contaminated batches...

The efficiency is better, but we're looking at a completely different virus with much less possibility of spreading as it's not airborne.

‘Leaky’ Vaccines Can Produce Stronger Versions of Viruses
Written by Roberta Alexander — Updated on April 5, 2019
By studying chickens, researchers say they have proven the theory that more virulent viruses can evolve from so-called “leaky” vaccines.

https://www.healthline.com/health-news/leaky-vaccines-can-produce-stronger-versions-of-viruses-072715

According to a new study published today in the scientific journal PLOS Biology, some types of vaccines could allow more virulent versions of a virus to survive, putting those who are unvaccinated at greater risk of severe illness.

To understand this, it’s necessary to examine the difference between “perfect” vaccines and “leaky” ones.

Perfect vaccines are so-named because they mimic the perfect immunity that humans naturally develop after having certain childhood disease.

“When a vaccine works perfectly, as do the childhood vaccines for smallpox, polio, mumps, rubella and measles, it prevents vaccinated individuals from being sickened by the disease, and it also prevents them from transmitting the virus to others,” said Andrew Read, an author of the study and an Evan Pugh professor of biology and entomology and Eberly professor in biotechnology at Penn State University.

After experiments done in a specialized pathogen-containment facility at The Pirbright Institute in the United Kingdom, the researchers concluded that the vaccines developed to combat Marek’s disease were imperfect or leaky.

“These vaccines also allow the virulent virus to continue evolving precisely because they allow the vaccinated individuals, and therefore themselves, to survive,” said Venugopal Nair, who led the research team. He is the head of the Avian Viral Diseases program at The Pirbright Institute.

These less-than-perfect vaccines create a “leaky” barrier against the virus. Vaccinated individuals may get sick but have less severe symptoms, but the virus survives long enough to transmit to others, which allows it to survive and spread throughout a population.

“Our research demonstrates that the use of leaky vaccines can promote the evolution of nastier ‘hot’ viral strains that put unvaccinated individuals at greater risk,” Nair said.

Miss those days :cry

According to every virologist, immunologist, vaccinologist that I've listened to for the past year and a half, none of those vaccines prevent infection or completely prevent transmission. But that dude studies bugs so maybe he's the one that is right.

That just really isn't true. Yes, they're very close to 'perfect', but they're not 100%... ie:

Even the measles vaccine, which is incredibly effective, fails to protect about 3 percent of vaccinated individuals who are exposed to the virus. Jonas Salk's polio vaccine—hailed a medical miracle—was 80 percent to 90 percent effective at preventing paralysis caused by the polio virus. Breakthrough infections of flu are even more common. While the exact effectiveness of the flu vaccine fluctuates year-to-year, it ranges between 40 percent and 60 percent.

Measles and polio breakthrough infections aren't just rare because the vaccines are so effective but also because those who are vaccinated rarely interact with infected people. Even with highly effective vaccines for Covid-19, breakthrough infections are likely to keep happening because the virus is so widespread.

Seems this guy is legit. And apparently Rogan used his 2015 study on chicke s to spread some vaccine phobia and it was a big deal.

Heres his response:

-Zk7bsuIZTs

He doubles down on his research and says yes this is a possibility that a leaky vaccine like covid will help worse mutations dominate.

But he is much pro vaccine qnd is pissed at Rogan using his paper for vaccine fear momgering. As in the end he says the vaccines are saving lives and that the important.

He says if the chicken scenario happens with covid the vaccines can always be improved in about 10 years and we n3ed to make sure to vaccinate EVERYONE :lol. Good luck w that

Thats the main issue I have w him now. This is not Polio. Polio had 20% or more deathrate in adults. Also Polio is not going to be endemic like Covid seems to be. And also, we are humans not chickens we cant force vacvinate EVERYONE in the planet and if need8ng yearly boosters we cant achieve that on all planet population.

Seems to me if the chicken scenario plays out with Covid and the vaccines. We are in for a world of hurt.

Says d pussy that wants schools shutdown nationwide :lmaoNope, I think the decision making should be local -- since August ~1000 schools have decided to shutdown temporarily because of COVID outbreaks. Pandemic conditions vary from place to place, so it makes sense that's where the discretion should lie.

COVID closing down schools for us -- which is where i think we're headed, I mean, we're kind of there right now -- might be avoidable if we mandate masking and do common sense things like social distancing, rapid testing, contact tracing, quarantine, better ventilation and dining al fresco.

There's no need to shut down schools, but we need to protect kids better.

Hospitals in several states are full, and hospitals in other states are filling with the overflow

a quarter of all the ICUs in the nation are on the brink of simply being unable to deal with one more patient. That’s especially true across the south.

In Alabama, for example, for the second week in a row, it’s very easy to describe how many open beds there are for patients in desperate need of care: None. There are none.

Across Texas, 169 counties have only a handful of beds to spare. Fifty-three are simply full. That includes overflow tents (https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/11/us/covid-texas-hospitalizations-icu.html) built in the parking lot of Houston hospitals.

Florida, naturally, is heavily dotted with hospitals at or near capacity, with 24 facilities reporting having more ICU patients than ICU beds.
Idaho has a vaccination rate of just 40%. That’s one of the lowest in the nation. Lower than Florida. Lower than Texas. Lower even that Mississippi. The rate of new cases in Idaho is still going up rapidly (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/idaho/).

Yes this is clear. But the majority of the symptoms are the same. They ask patients do they have these symptoms (list symptoms). Your wife's work does not do this? Vaccine card, temp, list of symptoms and yes or no. If they lie when they get to the examination rooms, goodbye. More info, they ask them the day before as well for confirmation on the phone. Thats twice.

They treat patients. I'll pass on your recommendations tho :lol

They are not mine.
These doctors do not treat infected patients in enclosed spaces around other patients coming in many of whom are very vulnerable specifically because, they usually have pre existing conditions as they are at, now imagine this, AT the doctors office.
And yes some doctors are very cognizant of not spreading a virus to their family and other vulnerable patients in an enclosed waiting room(s). Thats to be laughed at by some doctors I guess. Seems like treating and infecting go hand in hand in some offices, thats comforting. Private practices do not want to handle Covid patients in their house. Amazing stuff, eh snake? Hater is right that there will always be antivax holdouts, 30% is still high though imo.. also right that it's never going to fully disappear, at least any time soon, but there's a big difference between having 1% positivity and prepared ICU teams, vs having 15+ and being on the brink of collapse for extended periods- even if you never collapse it's a major stress that will have long term costs

Hospitalizations per 100,000 unvaxxed people is 431.
Hospitalizations per 100,000 vaccinated people is 25.
https://www.sciencenews.org/article/covid-coronavirus-vaccines-hospital-cases-rates-unvaccinated

The difference is 406 per 100K people.

15% of the adult population is 38 million people.

So vaccinating an additional 15% of the population likely results in 154K fewer hospitalizations (give or take depending on the risk level and age of who's getting the vaccine)

That 154K number accounts for almost 20% of staffed acute care beds in the country (534K). So yeah, it would make a huge fucking difference.

Paging Darrin, we have a hyperbole violation!

And I know you're excited about that but in the meantime we can control the surges by getting our free and easy vaccines.

Its not even winter yet and waning immunity ma brotha

Hospitalized dropped below 1000 in SA. Positive test rate continues to drop, even with schools open.

We're at 70% vaccinated in SA.

Positivity rate was dropping fast for 3-4 weeks, now that slowed a lot (from 7.6 two weeks ago to 7.1 last week). Hoping that's not a portent for an increase as restaurants and shit look way more full these last couple of weeks than they did the couple of weeks before when our positivity rate was really high.

And it has a spill on effect, an ICU team that has to "crunch" or whatever the term is for extended periods, starts to burn out. Now you have beds and respirators but no team to service them...

The antivaxxers are special snowflakes who want all the benefits of living in a society with none of the responsibilities. None of them give a shit about healthcare workers being pushed to the brink. I can't imagine how much they'd flip out hearing Kennedy say 'Ask what you can do for your country' in 2021 when they won't even put on a fucking cloth mask in the store or get free vaccinations to potentially save their lives while taking a lot of strain off our healthcare system, because they're attention starved children who want to be heard god damnit and what's important is their feelings.

it's mortuary trailer season in Montana

St. Peter's Health leadership announced Thursday the hospital is transitioning to crisis standards of care as both its intensive care unit and advanced medical unit are full with the onslaught of new COVID-19 patients.

"We are now seeing volume and resource constraints that require St. Peter's to shift to crisis standards of care, a situation that we don't take lightly in health care," St. Peter's Health Chief Medical Officer and President of the Regional Medical Center Dr. Shelly Harkins said during a press conference. "For the first time in my career, we are at the point where not every patient in need will get the care that we might wish we could give."

With that, Harkins said "true emergencies" will always receive priority and cautioned people not to put off necessary hospital visits.

Hospitals across the country, including Helena's, are in a "far worse position than we ever were," Harkins said, citing the delta variant, which is much more transmissible and results in more severe illness.

"This surge is different," she said. "We are having to tell patients 'you aren't going to get what you need.'"

Operating within the crisis care model, medical personnel have been given permission to make decisions on moving scarce hospital resources to patients with a higher likelihood of survival.

I'll make it simpler. A person comes to the hospital for influenza. Are they turned away, if they didn't get a flu shot?

And my point is, yes they do if their choice is to come in for influenza without a mask during a Covid outbreak. Doctors ARE NOT confined to hospitals, they have private practices. Do you understand? A poor health choice is not wearing a mask. And the choice to not wear a mask goes BEYOND that individual. This is an infectious disease. And yes, doctors in private practice would rather know individuals that have influenza not come sit in their waiting room with other people who are very likely to be immunocompromised because of age and or general health. People who are on chemotherapy have to be very careful where they go before COVID came around.
Welcome to what a really infectious disease has taught people. PUBLIC HEALTLH is important.

A Boy Went to a COVID-Swamped ER. He Waited for Hours. Then His Appendix Burst.

Non-COVID patients are paying a price as the delta variant and low-vaccination rates overwhelm hospitals across the country.

“Wait times can now be measured in days,”

Osborn said his wife asked why it was taking so long to be seen. A nurse rolled her eyes and muttered, “COVID.”

But by the time the doctor operated in the early morning hours, Seth’s appendix had burst — a potentially fatal complication.

As the nation’s hospitals fill and emergency rooms overflow with critically ill COVID-19 patients, it is the non-COVID-19 patients, like Seth, who have become collateral damage.

Some health officials now worry about looming ethical decisions.

Last week, Idaho activated (https://apnews.com/article/business-health-public-health-coronavirus-pandemic-idaho-db21f9a14254996144e78aafb1518259) a “crisis standard of care,” which one official described as a “last resort.”

It allows overwhelmed hospitals to ration care, including “in rare cases, ventilator (breathing machines) or intensive care unit (ICU) beds may need to be used for those who are most likely to survive,

while patients who are not likely to survive may not be able to receive one,”

Anyone that paints Republicans that openly support the vaccine as being against the vaccine really doesn't care about people getting a vaccine.

Republicans are biggest unvaccinated group in US and party leadership is responsible.

MAGAtards are more likely to not be vaccinated than blacks!

Republicans are still a bigger obstacle to vaccination than Black Americans

Consider new polling from the Pew Research Center. It tracked vaccine uptake over the course of the year, finding that Democrats and Asian Americans are the groups most likely to say they have received a dose of the vaccine. Black Americans are the racial group least likely to say so, though that figure is about equal to the percentage of Whites who say they’ve received a dose. It is also higher than three groups that are largely Republican: Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, rural Americans and White evangelical Protestants.

Over the course of the vaccine rollout, we’ve seen that polling on vaccinations tracks with actual vaccination numbers, but it is the case that someone saying they are vaccinated is different from their actually being vaccinated. So we can look, once again, at the most obvious overlap of vaccination and politics: how counties voted in 2020 and how heavily vaccinated they are.

The Kaiser Family Foundation has been tracking this over time, finding on Tuesday that about 53 percent of people in counties that voted for Joe Biden in 2020 are fully vaccinated, compared with 40 percent of people in counties that voted for Donald Trump. In May, the gap between the two was only seven percentage points. Now it’s nearly twice as big.

Again looking only at the counties for which we have vaccination data, a slightly higher percentage of Black Americans than Trump voters live in the half of counties with the highest vaccination rates. But 1.9 times as many Trump voters overall live in the less vaccinated half of counties. There are about 7.4 million more Trump voters than Black residents in those least-vaccinated counties. There are a lot more Trump voters in the more heavily vaccinated counties, too, of course, but the ratio is narrower: 1.8 times as many.

None of this is a defense of those who aren’t vaccinated, whatever their race or politics. It is, instead, an effort to contextualize the continued effort by many on the right to point fingers at Black Americans as deserving of particular criticism on vaccination rates.

49% of unvaxed are Repugs

:lmao dumb ass :lol

Thanks for proving my point that Republicans are more likely unvaccinated than blacks.

Get your facts straight as you keep proving you are #stillwithhim! :wow

Thanks Capitalists, Repugs, rightwing hate media

Take that hospital ship outta mothballs AGAIN there in NY harbor, send it south, then west then north, then get her turned about send it south, east, then north, then get her turned around on & on. 2 people showed up last time: one with an ingrown toenail and me, with a case of poison ivy. But, launch her nonetheless. Chop/chop.

Get those MASH units set up, bouts; you know the ones that your side badgered President Trump into erecting. Nobody will come, but set 'em anyway. Chop/chop.

Thanks for proving my point that Republicans are more likely unvaccinated than blacks.

Get your facts straight as you keep proving you are #stillwithhim! :wow

FDA Panel Rejects Plan To Administer Pfizer's COVID-19 Booster Doses To General Public

An influential Food and Drug Administration advisory committee on Friday resoundingly rejected a plan to administer booster shots of Pfizer and BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine to the general public (https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/17/fda-panel-begins-voting-on-pfizers-covid-booster-doses-rejecting-shots-for-general-public.html), saying they needed more data. The panel, however, could still recommend the shots for other populations. Scientists continued debating the need for a third dose of the vaccines for people 65 and older and other vulnerable populations after their initial vote. "It's likely beneficial, in my opinion, for the elderly, and may eventually be indicated for the general population. I just don't think we're there yet in terms of the data," Dr. Ofer Levy, a vaccine and infectious disease specialist at Boston Children's Hospital, said after voting against the original proposal. The final tally failed 16-2.

In a paper published days before the advisory committee meeting, a leading group of scientists said available data showed vaccine protection against severe disease persists, even as the effectiveness against mild disease wanes over time. The authors, including two high-ranking FDA officials and multiple scientists from the World Health Organization, argued Monday in the medical journal The Lancet that widely distributing booster shots to the general public is not appropriate at this time. In outlining plans last month to start distributing boosters as early as next week, administration officials cited three CDC studies that showed the vaccines' protection against Covid diminished over several months. Senior health officials said at the time they worried protection against severe disease, hospitalization and death "could" diminish in the months ahead, especially among those who are at higher risk or were vaccinated during the earlier phases of the vaccination rollout. Before the vote, some committee members said they were concerned that there wasn't enough data to make a recommendation, while others argued third shots should be limited to certain groups, such as people over age 60 who are known to be at higher risk of severe disease. Some members raised concerns about the risk of myocarditis in younger people, saying more research is needed.

So am I. I'm glad the FDA approval board did the same. Tell me do you agree with Chump that this was antivaxx

Vaccine induced AID's is a a real thing, always has been. Even documented with these vaccines. It's something antivaxxers have always exploited to spread their bullshit even though usually the risk is so low that benefit outweighs risk.

Apparently we are going to fly blind and give a 3rd unnecessary dose to the general population starting on the 20th. Maybe jacking circulating antibodies even higher because moar will be fine, we'll find out. I don't think it's a high risk but if they fuck this up good luck with vaccine acceptance.

So you just adopted an antivaxx talking point for no real reason.:tu
