Pootin LMFAO again at how well Trash is degrading NATO relationships and failing to lead
U.S. did not coordinate, notify EU about travel restriction
The United States did not coordinate on a sweeping restriction on European travel aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus with European officials before U.S. President Donald Trump announced it late on Wednesday
European Union officials were not notified about the decision ahead of time
“There was no heads-up, no coordination as the president claimed,”
could complicate already strained trade ties between Brussels and Washington. :lol Pootin's DEELIGHT !
“He should close ranks to work with China, Japan, South Korea, Europe+Iran.
Instead, he thinks we can dig a moat around America.” :lol Fulfilling Pootin's Long Game
(did Jared actually get his crypto comms channel to Pootin?)
the restrictions would be “enormously disruptive” despite the president’s clarification that cargo traffic could continue between the two huge trading partners.
would hit daily travel volume, tourism, hotels and restaurants - all of which were already suffering amid growing fear about the virus,
could choke off trade in services between the United States and Europe, harming the fastest growing part of U.S. international trade flows.
Trade in goods and services between the United States and the European Union totaled nearly $1.3 trillion in 2018,
with the United States posting a $60 billion services trade surplus with the EU in 2018.

The Obama administration "didn't do anything about” swine flu.
Donald Trump wrong saying Barack Obama did nothing about swine flu
Trump downplayed the number of people stricken, then went on the attack.
Without mentioning President Barack Obama, Trump criticized (https://factba.se/transcript/donald-trump-interview-sean-hannity-fox-telephone-march-4-2020) the Obama’s administration response to another outbreak — H1N1, commonly known as swine flu.
Trump made the attack during an interview (https://factba.se/transcript/donald-trump-interview-sean-hannity-fox-telephone-march-4-2020) on March 4, 2020, with Fox News talk show host Sean Hannity :lol
Obama’s acting director of health and human services declared (https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/realitycheck/the-press-office/declaration-a-national-emergency-with-respect-2009-h1n1-influenza-pandemic-0) H1N1 a public health emergency on April 26, 2009. That was when the United States had only 20 (https://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/27/world/27flu.html)confirmed cases of H1N1 and no deaths.
Two days later, the administration made an initial funding request (https://www.phe.gov/Preparedness/mcm/h1n1-retrospective/Documents/h1n1-retrospective.pdf) for H1N1 to Congress. Eventually $7.65 billion was allocated for a vaccine and other measures.
On Oct. 24, 2009, six months after his administration declared H1N1 a public health emergency, Obama declared (https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/realitycheck/the-press-office/declaration-a-national-emergency-with-respect-2009-h1n1-influenza-pandemic-0) it a national emergency.
Trump said: "There were 60 million cases of swine flu" during the Obama administration "and they didn't do anything about it."
His assessment on the nation’s response is incorrect.
The Obama administration
issued two emergency declarations,
triggering billions of dollars in spending toward vaccines and
other public health response measures.
The statement is False.

Jared Kushner is holding up action by the coronavirus task force —
because he has to do ‘research’ :lol (This is NOT The Onion)
Politico reported Wednesday that there’s no progress on acting about the virus because
they’re waiting for Kushner to learn everything.
Kushner isn’t a doctor, nurse, medical professional of any kind, nor is he an economist, and
it’s unknown if he even took an economics class in college.
“There’s no deadline for a decision,
but one of the people familiar with the talks said
the task force will not give [President Donald] Trump its final verdict
until Jared Kushner, the president’s senior adviser and son-in-law,
finishes his research and comes to a conclusion himself,”

Apparently anything short of complete shutdown is an under reaction. A complete shutdown will shatter the the markets. Therefore the idea that you are using the markets to judge a measure while claiming to "give the benefit of the doubt" is bullshit. Further everyone is now going to do everything to travel here when they aren't supposed to but apparently if Trump was a little more clear about severity then we will all be fine.

Trump made at least three factually wrong statements last night.
He said that insurance companies had agreed to waive copays for COVID-19 treatment; he said that we would ban cargo from the EU; he said the EU travel ban would begin Friday at midnight. (It starts 24 hours later)

I'm just a little baffled that the media isn't reporting anything positive like how fast people are recovering from this. Googled it last night because I was curious as to what's happening with everyone who is infected but aren't dying, i.e the overwhelming majority, and there's nothing clear or concise. *SHRUG* Just keep scaring the stupid stupider, I guess.

maybe because they are trying to be responsible so that people will take it seriously and stop spreading it?
maybe because trump did that already and you can read how his fellators are in denial all over this site-

Simple= because it ain't serious, so Media can get away with withholding truth. Not like during 9/11.
It's good news as long as they're busting each other's balls in Congress/Trump. When they start working together ashen-faced then you should worry.

Anyone who missed his speech would be better informed than those who watched it.
This virus is not his fault. Our being a society built on principles of individual freedom might actually hurt in this situation.
My feeling is this would severely rattle any president.
But.
We got a habitual liar and even the Trumpeters don’t trust his words, but they did like his delivery and who he picked on.
Now we see why telling the GD truth makes a difference. No one trusts this clown. He could be perfectly correct and still he is not trusted. For 3+ years he has spewed shit. So people expect shit. Reliability is gone. He rode a wave of stability while showing a great deal of instability. The wave is gone.
This thing will end and as a country we will be relatively fine. I wonder if people will remember what makes a good leader. When Trump says my fellow Americans, while shitting on specific groups of people.... well now it means something.
Yes.
Let’s all pull together for the great orange divider.

most ppl usually get a flu once, twice a season. most probably miss 1, 2 days of work
this is at least 10x worse. most ppl will get it once or twice a season. most will miss 10, 20 days now
even if you ignore the economic effect, deaths, etc

I posted earlier on the guy in quarantine in Nebraska. Been 30 days and he's still testing positive. He's never felt ill other than a 103F fever the first day.
It does appear it takes a long time to clear this bug. From the studies done it seems 7-10 days is roughly the period where the body produces the cytokine storm and sends them into critical condition.

~2%
Way to downplay the significance of that fact with that strawman.
The narrative (and that's all it is) is that it's a death sentence and people are dropping like flies.
So far, the new coronavirus has led to more than 100,000 illnesses and more than 3,000 deaths worldwide. But that's nothing compared with the flu, also called influenza. In the U.S. alone, the flu has caused an estimated 34 million illnesses, 350,000 hospitalizations and 20,000 deaths this season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Death rate
The death rate from seasonal flu is typically around 0.1% in the U.S., according to The New York Times.
The death rate for COVID-19 appears to be higher than that of the flu.
In the study published Feb. 18 in the China CDC Weekly, researchers found a death rate from COVID-19 to be around 2.3% in mainland China. Another study of about 1,100 hospitalized patients in China, published Feb. 28 in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that the overall death rate was slightly lower, around 1.4%.
Still, the death rate for COVID-19 appears to vary by location and an individual's age, among other factors. For instance, in Hubei Province, the epicenter of the outbreak, the death rate reached 2.9%; in other provinces of China, that rate was just 0.4%, according to the China CDC Weekly study. In addition, older adults have been hit the hardest. The death rate soars to 14.8% in those 80 and older; among those ages 70 to 79, the COVID-19 death rate in China seems to be about 8%; it’s 3.6% for those ages 60 to 69; 1.3% for 50 to 59; 0.4% for the age group 40 to 49; and just 0.2% for people ages 10 to 39. No deaths in children under 9 have been reported.
So what Chucho is saying is that there's a reason to not panic, but then that doesn't really salve the left's need to construct a narrative for the upcoming election.

It's not a strawman, dumbass. The threshold at which a virus has survivors is below 100% - meaning, unless there is a 100% mortality rate for a disease, people are going to survive it. So crying about how the media isn't reporting about people surviving COVID-19 is basically like saying you don't understand mortality rates.
The 2% number is fairly well known at this point, so I'm sorry if you're disappointed that I didn't care to include it in my post.

It really is serious because of the social disruption it appears to require in order to avoid overwhelming hospitals. Deaths will occur just like the flu, but we don’t need a spike in infections because this thing is extraordinary in its transmission.
If people in the entire country, not just a few states (decimated by a hurricane) is involved in everyday work, social, provision disruption, it’s a big deal. I have never experienced this. Have you? And it’s basically to avoid a spike that overwhelms our medical facilities. Because this will spread.
I already have 3 friends being tested today thru the end of the week because of symptoms. A pilot and 2 people who travel quite a bit. So depending on the tests their family members will self quarantine on an on, repeat. It will pass but... just keep repeating the above for a few weeks or a month. I saw one of these people a week and a half ago before symptoms and before the suspected trip to Spain. Anecdotes like mine will begin.

Mrs. Crutchfield with the swing and the miss.
There is some positive news being reported it just doesn't generate clicks.
Most coronavirus patients recover, still anxiety, fear loom
SEATTLE (AP) — Amid all the fears, quarantines and stockpiling of food, it has been easy to ignore the fact that more than 60,000 people have recovered from the coronavirus spreading around the globe.
The disease can cause varying degrees of illness and is especially troublesome for older adults and people with existing health problems, who are at risk of severe effects, including pneumonia. But for most of those affected, coronavirus creates only mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough, with the vast majority recovering from the virus.
According to the World Health Organization, people with mild illness recover in about two weeks, while those with more severe ailments may take three to six weeks to rebound. In mainland China, where the virus first exploded, more than 80,000 people have been diagnosed, but more than 58,000 already have recovered.
Because the difference in impact can be so great, global health authorities have the difficult task of alerting the public to the virus’ dangers without creating panic.

Percent of visits resulting in hospital admission: 10.4%
Percent of visits resulting in transfer to a different (psychiatric or other) hospital: 2.2%

"no atheists in a foxhole" says more about the foxhole than the atheist.

I have plenty and the grocery stores still haven't been rushed in my area. Although some cleaning agents are not available. One could easily get the groceries they need at the moment.

Just drove around my area and to the grocery store and everyone is acting "business as usual". Even saw a guy in a hospital uniform coughing in the store while taking zero precautions. Another sign that we are fucked tbh. If medical professionals can't take basic precautions then the average person certainly won't. Maybe after things get way worse they will.

I bought supplies in late January tbqh one of the first to do
I did buy toilet paper. I was at the paper towel section, bought 1 big package and got another for TP. It just made sense. If you gonna be quarantined for 2-4 weeks, you need as much TP as possible
I only got 1 big package to last me and family 1 month. Not sure why some idiots get more than that :lol

Yeah when I was at CVS the cashier was morbidly obese and coughing all over the place. I asked to see the manager and to get a new cashier :lol
